Amidst all the numerous releases somewhere between funky house and uplifting disco arrives finally a record again that will reach consensus trans-cending genres. Already in April The White Lamp released their first 12" on British quality imprint Futureboogie. Back then nobody knew that this project consists of no one less than Darren Emerson (Ex-Underworld) and befriended singer Pete Josef from Bristol. This fact doesn't make "Make It Good" better. Because this is as good as it gets. At least if your intention is to bring a club to the point of ecstasy in the year 2012. The hypnotic bassline alone hits the bull's eye. But the way Josef's vocals make an anthem out of the track is classical dressage. And it's a matter of course that pro-producer Emerson provides an arrangement that simply just
works, everywhere and all the time.

For those following contemporary electronic music, little introduction is necessary: the 33-year-old psychologist is known for her dreamy house collaborations with husband and producer/ DJ Oliver Koletzki, with whom she co-wrote hits such as 'Hypnotized' and the successful album Lovestoned. The time has, however, come for Fran to bare her musical self and let the wild desire to create run free. To mark its 11th release CE launches a new V/A compilation series featuring exclusive material from some of the hottest names in Electro from across the Globe right now. Composing an entire electronic album around the notorious 15th Century Cult Of Assassins, New Jersey based producer Jorge Velez (Italians Do It Better, Thisnotanexit), better known as Professor Genius, has created a unique and ambitious piece of work, under the guise of Hassan, which strongly stands apart from his previous efforts. Check!
Largely based around layered atmospheric Arabic-styled synth work and sparse percussion throughout, Hassan employs an entirely electronic palette to bring listeners into a secret world filled with darkness, drama, triumph and chaotic dissonance.

Recorded in Berlin over the last few months, The Observer At The Starhouse sparks with a rare magic as Dr Alex Paterson and long-time Orb member Thomas Fehlmann construct a panorama of stripped-down backdrops to provide the perfect backdrops for the Upsetter's inimitable pronouncements, righteous declarations and sweet vocals.
The Orb have long been known for their assimilation of deepest dub into their stratospheric sonic innovations, as evidenced on U.F. Orb's Towers Of Dub, itself something of a Lee Perry tribute with its sound effects and distinctive underlying eccentricity. Starting in the late 60s with the Upsetters, Perry wrote the book on Jamaican mixing desk trickery, then constantly ripped it up to create new aural blueprints for the music via his Black Ark productions of the following decade, since then charting a waywardly idiosyncratic path which has ensured legions of followers absorbing his every move.

The Dutch producer/remixer, known for his mix of rock and big beats (and often compared to CHEM BROS or PRODIGY) drops this 12" feat 'COSMIC RAVE' & 'DREAM ON'. Two booty shakin' instrumental house cuts !!

Kelpe's recent 'I Felt Fuzzy' EP on April was his first drop in a year and it dropped deep, selling out its vinyl run and attracting praise from all forms media, old and new. The muse was clearly high, new tracks were popping out and, with a serious banger of a remix from Neon Jung in the bag, it seemed only right to put out another EP quick sharp. Where 'I Felt Fuzzy' came in at 23 minutes and a whole side of remixes, here the focus is on Kelpe's own productions, and at 15 minutes with longer workouts leading the opening of each side, followed by shorter more beat-based works, it's very much the classic extended play single, something Svetlana Industries promotes as the perfect format for electronic music. Kicking off with a rolling, bouncing rhythm played live on kitchen pots and pans, title track 'Bags Of Time' s bounding forward motion belies its relatively relaxed speed. 110BPM is actually a classic Kelpe tempo, that territory between hip hop and house which only a few producers can properly drive. Also classic Kelpe is the fat analogue synth riff that holds down the bottom end, slowly morphing throughout the tune. 'Double Punt' is an elegant and more serious statement, the beat is less obvious, the chord sequence sombre, the sound levels building until it enters a synthy stew. It feels forboding, ambiguous, a new side to Kelpe. On the flip, Neon Jung's Wormhole Remix of 'Bags Of Time' is just breathless, conjuring up a dizzy vortex of sound right from the start. Audibly building on the same blocks as the original, but channeling a whole flow, this is contemporary UK dance music at its finest. At a club friendly 135bpm, it ties the heavy syncopated rhythm tracks of UK bass to an increasingly euphoric melody that peaks at a righteous, giddy and glorious frenzy. The EP's red lantern is 'City, a quiet belter with heavy heavy heavy analogue bass over understated drums, until a very pretty melody drops. With the flavours of classic electro hip hop fattened up for the new millennium, 'City' s synth parts are poetic and beautiful, and it's a subtle little treasure to close off the disc.

Great music stands the test of time, we all know that right Only artists with supreme talent make music that can move you even years after its creation. Dieter Kolb and Franz Aumüller have certainly used their talents to leave a noticeable dent in the world of both Music and Art. They first met at kindergarten and then went on to form one of the most mysterious production teams Germany has ever produced. Together with another school buddy Franz Knüttel they created sounds so unique and ahead of their time that maybe the rest of us weren't quite ready!

A musician on a mission, Navid Izadi has quickly risen from a San Francisco club kid to buzzing new one to watch. Rolling as a DJ, singer and rapper (but rarely over rap beats), and producing music that effortlessly weaves between influences, his talents are being drafted in and championed by a range of industry heavyweights. Aside from recent andupcoming vocal features for major leaguers like Deniz Kurtel, Soul Clap and close friends PillowTalk, the past year has also seen Navid remix the likes of Pezzner and Miguel Migs. The future holds much more with several EPs lined up for the 'crew love' label family (Wolf + Lamb and the forthcoming Soul Clap Records) as well as a full-length album that will see the young Renaissance man stretching his musical legs far and wide On the sublime debut EP for Double Standard Records, A-side 'Ain't Got The Time' pays homage to trippy, proto electronics but with Navid's forward-thinking attitude.

While his formative years were spent listening to everything from Yes to Photek, Scott Hansen didn't get his hands on an actual guitar or drum machine until he left his native Sacramento for San Francisco in 1995. 'Encountering this whole new world at 20 years old was a profound experience,' says Hansen, better known by his musical pseudonym Tycho and as the graphic artist ISO50

Compton is the second release from Discovery Recordings, who throw the monthly Discovery party in NYC. The parties residents and guests blend the lines of house, disco, and techno—and the label puts the vibe of their underground party to wax.

The EP comes from Chicago's Olin and Co. Processing. "Compton" kicks it off with hypnotic vocals made ready for the dance floor by an infectious rolling bass-line and filtered keys. "Oslo" is built on dueling arps and spacey percussion that together cultivate a swirling deepness. On remix duty, Glasgow's OOFT! delivers a dance floor ready rework with rooted in a chugging 303 and classic stabs, while Berlin's Nils Penner lays down a piece of work perfect for dimly lit rooms. As with the first Discovery release, they're hand stamped, vinyl only, and limited pressing.

Alex Ridha—better known to the world as BOYS NOIZE—has been making electronic music and working as a DJ for over half of his life, which is no small feat considering that Ridha is currently only 29 years old. As a DJ, Ridha has established himself as one of the world's preeminent wizards behind the DJ decks, having played some of the world's biggest stages alongside some of the biggest names in dance music. As a recording artist and a producer, Ridha has created his own sound, and pioneered his own brand, amassing a formidable body of work in the process. He has released two albums (2007's Oi Oi Oi and 2009's Power) and countless singles as Boys Noize, as well as doing profoundly influential work as a remixer and a producer for everyone from Depeche Mode, Feist, Daft Punk to David Lynch and Jarvis Cocker. He has also collaborated extensively with Erol Alkan and Mr. Oizo (on a project called Handbraekes).
As for the title of his new record, Ridha explains that this music isn't coming from out of the blue. In fact, it's the opposite. 'I tend to make and produce music only at night,' he says. 'I also generally only perform at night, so this is music that's coming totally out of the black. Also, they say the color black can absorb all other colors, which is a cool way to think about making music. You absorb every other kind of music—every possible sound—and what comes out of you is something new, something out of the black.

Seine erste 7", Pagan Muzak, war eine Art Anti-Platte die ausschließlich aus Endlosschleifen besteht, die sich solange wiederholen, bis der Hörer die Nadel aus der jeweiligen Rille entfernt und in die per Bohrmaschine zusätzliche Löchern gebohrt wurden. Pagan Muzak war eine der ersten Veröffentlichungen des Industrial und nahm damals bereits Elemente des Noise und Easy Listening vorweg. "Receive The Flame" ist ursprünglich 1999 erschienen.

It's been quite the year for the Lord Of The Isles. He's gone from virtual unknown to established producer with only a handful of releases on some of the most feted labels around - Unthank / Cocktail D'Amore / Ene Records / American Standard. - now proudly joining the ranks of Phonica Records too!
'Year Of The City EP' kicks off with the title track, a jagged track of pure analog swagger. The eerie intro quickly makes way for a dark, arpeggiated synth-riff and an insistent drum pattern that make for a potent combination. 'FS01' rounds off the first side of the EP in pure synth bliss. Based around a chopped synth loop, this is passive-aggressive ambient music - ideal for home/headphone listening.
Flip over and you're greeted by 'Forkx' - an epic Detroit leaning track (Rhythim Is Rhythim's 'Icon' being the obvious point of call), complete with swirling synths, a squelchy bassline from above, bongos a plenty and a galloping beat that is impossible to resist. The temptation to throw the term 'journey' somewhere in here is just too hard to ignore. The final piece to this outstanding EP is another ambient piece that pays homage to early Warp material - think early Aphex meets Boards of Canada and you're not far off the mark. The Lord has risen.

Not long ago Sano left his Colombian hometown to find himself in an old palace in Brandenburg, locked inside a dreamlike basement studio for two weeks with another seven from around the world. It´s been there, as Sano told us, that a blood pact was sealed. And now indeed it is his 'Chupa' (Suck it!) to be the already second record (after Alejandro Paz` 'Free') to emerge from that magnificent Cómeme conclave held at a cottage outside of Berlin this summer. Dancers across Europe already had the chance to hear some portions of it when Cómeme toured the continent and Great Britain shortly afterwards.

At the end of 2006, Erol Alkan was at a crossroads. He'd been voted DJ of the year by Mixmag. He'dmade landmark, expectation-defying remixes for bands he loved: a crunching 'glam racket' reworking of 'Do You Want To' for Franz Ferdinand, a wonderfully wistful reinterpretation of Hop Chip's 'Boy From School', a psychedelic take on Scissor Sisters' 'I Don't Feel Like Dancing' and a genre-defining reworking of Justice's 'Waters Of Nazereth'. He was about to close Trash, the Monday night indie disco that had somehow morphed into the most adventurous, influential and glamorous club night in the world without changing its attitude, musical philosophy - or ever charging over six pounds on the door. Other triumphs lay a little further in the past. In 2006, he supported Daft Punk for their live return at Global Gathering at their own personal request. The year before, he did the same for Madonna at Koko in Camden with a DJ set which she used as an intro tape on her subsequent world tour. In 2002, he'd lent some muscle to another icon, creating the bootleg of 'Blue Monday' and 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' that Kylie performed at the Brits in 2002: the culmination of a craze for 'bastard pop' hybrids he'd been instrumental in creating alongside long-term kindred spirits Soulwax. Then there were his DJ sets at clubs and festivals around the world, in which Erol's unerring instinct for playing the right record at the right time brought hardened clubbers and alternative music obsessives together in abandoned celebration of brilliant music. Though he started DJing in dance clubs in earnest in 2001 after being invited to play at Bugged Out, Erol still considers himself an outsider in that scene. 'Unfortunately, I never had that seismic moment of hearing someone like Carl Craig DJ in '96' he says. 'I feel as passionately about the Manic Street Preachers as people in dance music do about Kraftwerk.

Few DJs have truly trashed the rulebook like Fake Blood. When his remixes snuck onto the dance scene in 2008, he shied away from the spotlight and, like a dancefloor ninja, managed to keep his identity firmly under wraps. There were no gimmicks, no stadium-sized headpieces or fancy dress masks to obscure him, just a desire for club heads to absorb his music without any preconceptions. Four years and four EPs on, Keating is still something of an enigma. He doesn't prey on fame, he does very few interviews and he isn't part of a DJ crew: he has always preferred to let his music speak for itself. He's been in no hurry to release a record either - until now, that is. Keating has found a home on Different Recordings, which counts club crusaders like Tiga, Felix Da Housecat and Vitalic among its roster, and is finally ready to present his debut album: Cells.

To ready fans for his debut long-player, Fake Blood drops the 'YES/NO' EP September 24th 2012. The EP features the fan-favourite Yes/No - a blur of samples, strings and bass that has been a staple in Theo's sets for a while - as well as the track End of Days - an apocalyptic and cinematic techno opus.
