Departing from his usual Ambient / Downtempo productions, but not from his favorite source of inspiration, Aqob bring us 3 tracks of Sci-Fi-inspired dancefloor Techno."The Red Planet" is a subtly evolving piece, with a touch of mystery that captures the imagination, while providing the necessary energy for the dancefloor. The remix is a more straightforward techno affair, presenting the same themes in a more linear and relaxed fashion.On the B-side, "May in Saturn" is unashamedly old-skool, with a chorus of strings that run through the track, supported by a strong bass line, while ethereal vocal samples take it to its conclusion.
Finally "Took my mind" completes the EP in a more familiar territory for Aqob, a denser, more mental sound, based around an electric bass groove, punctuated with vocal samples."The Red Planet EP" will be released as digital download and 12" vinyl.

Grabbed from Lorn's recent 'Ask The Dust' album 'Weigh Me Down' is a glitchy, bass heavy number that bears more than a little resemblance to 'Gangsta's Paradise', now it's been bundled up with a grab bag of remixesFirst remix out the blocks comes from Illum Sphere, who removes some of the rhythmic relentlessness and focuses on the beauty in the vocal before wobbly bass fucks with your equilibrium. Now based in NYC, Glaswegian Mike Slott laces together a skipping, clever rhythm, pitches up the vocals a little and gives the whole thing a surprising soul-jazz tinge. Sometime fellow Brainfeeder labelmate and LA resident Mono/Poly, meanwhile, goes for rumbling bottom end, pterodactyl cries, bubbling keyboard lines and a psychedelic emphasis on sonic atmospherics. The package is rounded out by a 'no verse' version of the original, where the chorus is left on its own and no more knives have to be watched as they're sharpened!

Martin SolveigÉs ËThe Night OutÊ is well known to the music world, its familiar beat and lyrics were a good hit. But now a couple of DJÉs have got the song by the scruff of the neck to produce their own remixes of this song. These include A-Trak, Madeon, TheFatRat, Maison and Dragen and even Solveig himself.A-Trak is a Montreal born DJ who is pretty big on both the electro-house and hip-hop scenes; you probably know him mostly as half of Duck Sauce. From the start of this remix, it sounds very similar to the original but with a more intense main beat. The vocals are still the main body of the build ups and transitions; but then I heard the drop. A-Trak goes big and drops a very funky electro beat that really develops and gets more intense. It hits hard and works really well!

Crystal Waters can do anything. Twenty-two years ago she came into my life singing about the homeless gypsy woman who still fancies herself beautiful. Now she guest appears on Yolanda Be Cool's follow-up to their 2010 smash "We No Speak Americano" with another explosive dance number. Le Bump has Waters in all her jazzy, smoky glory, purring about, well, doing the Bump as the song tears forth like the Charleston with a disco beat. Take notice: it's very new, but it'll be a big, big hit for Yolanda, who seems to have a knack for reconfiguring the Roaring Twenties and turning it cool again

Switch and Erol Alkan come together on what is possibly Phantasy's heaviest release to date. Saturated acid lines, scratches, vocal snippets and the biggest kick drum this side the Planet 808 dominate a track originally conceived back in 2009. Brilliant remixes come from Night Slugs co-founder Bok Bok, and New York's Willie Burns who's recent release on L.I.E.S has been staple in Erol Alkan's sets for musch of 2012.

Our much lauded D.I.M. has vanished into thin air for a while only to get back with some hotter stuff incl. 4 new tracks. 'GO!' opens this EP with a seductive imperative in form of a bouncing bassline and some high-pitched frequency in remembrance of Sydney's traffic lights.'Mariachi' the 2nd track is all about the typical elements and sounds which makes D.I.M. so damn well known for. On the flip 'Dragon' follows as an dubbier, harder edged, straight-up house track with an undeniable old-skool vibe. A howling warm synth which can't decide if it's acid or not and a grooving rhythm - With just one listen you'll be hooked! 'Eternal' the last track of the Vinyl EP is the perfect tune for the late-night dancefloor; vibey, full of emotions and impressively deep. Again, a superb production with a revealing side of D.I.M. no one would expect. Coming as a Digital Bonus Track 'Loaded' completes the EP and is a worthy addition to the D.I.M. track repertoire.

Wrong is Quentin Dupieux's new movie, the director most known under his musical alias, Mr Oizo. During summer 2011, while he was wrapping the movie, he started as usual to compose its score. He then had the idea to fulfill it with four hands, with David Sztanke aka Tahiti Boy, a French eclectic pop artist recently met on Twitter. Indeed, Mr Oizo, in a typical extravagant generous gesture, offered through the social network three mythic beat machines, including a TR-808 for which Tahiti Boy (among others) showed great interest. Tahiti Boy seemed to be the most suitable to use it with relevance, and the two artists became friends on this occasion. Mr Oizo then had the idea to entrust Tahiti with the completion of Wrong's score. Settled in Quentin's parisian apartment turned into a studio, David resumed the few compositions already directed by Quentin, and finished and completed them with others (on which he sometimes used the famous TR-808).Supervised by Dupieux, who approved or disapproved the proposition in a clear-cut manner, the work progressed fast and fluently.Then, by the end of the year, the two artists reunited to adapt and shape the compositions in an album format, that you now have in your hands.After 'Steak' and 'Rubber", this is the third score from a Quentin Dupieux movie to be released on Ed Banger, and we found the particular atmosphere the first one already had ; in the same time modernist, iconoclast and crossed by winks to the big tradition of Original Soundtracks made in France in the 60s and 70s.

Airhead continues to impress and confound with his run of releases on R&S. His last release 'Wait/South Congress' found itself gaining praise right across the board. It showcased his atmospheric guitar styles as well as his deft programming skills, resulting in some trying to pigeon-hole his sound in a post rock/electronica direction. This EP proves it not that easy to pin him down with two new tracks of fresh club music. Pyramid Lake again showcases his expert manipulation of samples, but this time weaves them into a drunken dance groove, full of whirring percussion and heavy bass. Black Ink is a bubbling, percussive roller that in the hands of a lesser producer would sound like a traincrash. At the end of 2006, Erol Alkan was at a crossroads. He'd been voted DJ of the year by Mixmag. He'dmade landmark, expectation-defying remixes for bands he loved: a crunching 'glam racket' reworking of 'Do You Want To' for Franz Ferdinand, a wonderfully wistful reinterpretation of Hop Chip's 'Boy From School', a psychedelic take on Scissor Sisters' 'I Don't Feel Like Dancing' and a genre-defining reworking of Justice's 'Waters Of Nazereth'. He was about to close Trash, the Monday night indie disco that had somehow morphed into the most adventurous, influential and glamorous club night in the world without changing its attitude, musical philosophy - or ever charging over six pounds on the door. Other triumphs lay a little further in the past. In 2006, he supported Daft Punk for their live return at Global Gathering at their own personal request. The year before, he did the same for Madonna at Koko in Camden with a DJ set which she used as an intro tape on her subsequent world tour. In 2002, he'd lent some muscle to another icon, creating the bootleg of 'Blue Monday' and 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' that Kylie performed at the Brits in 2002: the culmination of a craze for 'bastard pop' hybrids he'd been instrumental in creating alongside long-term kindred spirits Soulwax. Then there were his DJ sets at clubs and festivals around the world, in which Erol's unerring instinct for playing the right record at the right time brought hardened clubbers and alternative music obsessives together in abandoned celebration of brilliant music. Though he started DJing in dance clubs in earnest in 2001 after being invited to play at Bugged Out, Erol still considers himself an outsider in that scene. 'Unfortunately, I never had that seismic moment of hearing someone like Carl Craig DJ in '96' he says. 'I feel as passionately about the Manic Street Preachers as people in dance music do about Kraftwerk. That's where my DNA is different, which I'm really happy about, because that's t

The second album from the Artreform label is a conclusive proof that the imprint is going to make a serious and long-time work. After the successful release Well Placed Truth created together with a Israeli Chaim the ideologist of the label Joss introduced another interesting music collaboration. This time a talented producer from Ukraine lllya became his studio musician partner. The first track Tripping perfectly fits the concept "made for Djs". A 100% peak-time killer with a catchy vocoder sample will surely have a success during open- airs and in night clubs. It's a music trip from all points. A remix by the Germans Superlounge is no less interesting. The Düsseldorf duo completely changed the rhythmic part of the track and gave It hasteless groove. Taking the best elements of Marco Carolla and Loco Dice sounding, Superlounge made a track inspired by the cult club DC10. The sound shifted from a deep night to a more relaxed morning groove. Many people will surely like this metamorphosis. The B-side of the vinyl ends with a great stomper by Joss & Illya. The track "Drop It" could be easily the main composition of the release. It's as strong as the A-side. The Artreform creation includes the classic house chords, funky groove. There is no time to think about It.

On the release number 013 with the first Remix for the Blackfox crew, the catalogue number 014 completely devotes itself to the Belorussian DJ, producers and label owner Pasha joint, better known under the likeable alias Trockensaft. With nearly 30 releases in the back anything but a unknown in the business! With a thick, percussive groove frame the sound trip rolled out on 7:30 minutes starts. Slowly and steadily a slightly drunken melody pushes in the hypnotic sound events which are maneuvered movement Saxon between head and hip in an inimitably nice sloping situation which brands in the shimmering heat of a summer day full of pleasure on the open-air meadows declared to the dancefloor of this time in the feeling memory of every body fiber. In the Remix of Toureau the small pieces-hypnotic momentof the original divided into a punching, straightened dance approach with a not to be denied Oldschool note. Then the vocal track brings finally the
hymn factor during euphoria account and at the latest now there is also for the most drunken hero of the night to no more holds! The Zielscheiben Recordings Owner and Frankfurt master of the banging Elektro with affinity to deepen Techno tracks, Ziel 100, just plays those cards in its Remix completely: the rhythmical Backing and the melody curves are borrowed from the nicest moments by classical Elektro and just the melodic Bassline brings that kind of depth in the track which evryone will love in deep Techno also in hundred years like nothing else in this world.

Compiled by Bill Brewster of djhistory.com, the album places the spotlight on some of the label's early dancefloor-based work across key 12" mixes and rarities, from the unmistakeable productions of Martin Hannett to more unheralded backroom work by New Order's Bernard Sumner and A Certain Ratio drummer Donald Johnson, under their BeMusic and DoJo monikers.
The album traces early experiments from Blurt's avant garde mutant funk to the fertile post-Joy Division period as the label's unique, coruscating post-punk sound took shape through seminal bands like A Certain Ratio and Section 25. The album also expressly documents Factory's strong links and cross-pollination with New York's 1980s club culture, as New Order joined forces with producer Arthur Baker, fresh from his pioneering electro work with Afrika Bambaataa, and acts like Quando Quango and Sweet Sensation's Marcel King enlisted NY remixer Mark Kamins for tough-edged club treatments. Factory bands including Quando Quango would also play live at some of the city's seminal nightspots, including the Paradise Garage. The compilation also touches on some of the wider directions explored by Factory during its early years - Durutti Column's melancholic beauty, the latin jazz and jazz funk of Swamp Children, Kalima and Tony Henry's 52nd Street and a track from the label's only reggae single, the Dennis Bovell-produced 'See Them A'Come' by X-O-Dus. This is the music that would provide the blueprint for the Manchester scene of the late '80s and Factory's heady later years - the Happy Mondays, James, Northside and the rest.

1000 VINYL FOR THE WORLD! Unreleased Autechre album from 1991, regarded as a holy grail of a record.

This recording contains 7 remixes by Mark Fell of the first three 12' singles released on the record label Sensate Focus in 2012. These were called '10', '5' and '3.3...'. The first of these, '10', was itself a reworking of materials from an earlier project by Fell and Terre Thaemlitz, released on Comatonse Recordings in 2012. The 7 remixes were written and recorded in June 2012 at the Upper Lounge, Chatham Street (UK) using a MacBook Pro running Digital Performer, FM8 (featuring manipulated DX100 and TX81Z presets), Battery and Razor; monitored and mixed with Sennheiser HD 25 headphones. Here hand claps are constructed from the Roland TR707 clap, two copies of which are detuned and panned hard left and right, with an additional Yamaha RX11 Clap 2 panned centrally; kick drums have been constructed with the Roland TR707 Kick 1 pitched up with bass content attenuated, overdubbed with samples from vinyl derived, it is assumed, from the Roland TR909. Two hi hats are used: the Yamaha RX11 Closed Hat 1, and a sample from Bassmental's '2 Daye Revisit (Kerri Chandler remix)', released on Nite Grooves, 1994. Recommended contextual materials include: 'Can You Feel It (Dubby Dub Marc Kinchen remix)' by Chez Damier, released on KMS, 1992; 'Hard To Get' by Choo Ables, released on E-SA records, 1993.
Additional DJ notes for playback synchronisation: Track 1 has a tempo of 137 beats per minute with a rhythmic loop of 30 units each lasting 109.49 milliseconds. Track 2, 126 bpm with 31 units each lasting 119.05ms. Track 3, 113 bpm with 17 units each lasting 88.5ms. Track 4, 128 bpm with 60 units each lasting 117.19ms, with inserted pauses of between 4 and 80 units. Track 5, 128 bpm with 16 units each lasting 117.19ms. A classically trained pianist from the age of six, Jarrah McCleary grew up in the sticky heat of the Northern Territory, Australia. His previous project, The Dirty Secrets saw the band working between Australia and London with iconic producer and engineer, Nick Terry (Klaxons, Libertines). After working on ideas for a new record for over two years, in early 2011, McCleary declared a new album and boarded the airplane, bound for Los Angeles. Between splashes of yacht rock, trop-pop and nods to Peter Gabriel (thanks to the iconic '80s Yamaha DX7 synth), a short summer experience in the 'city where dreams are made' lead to tracks tinged with hints of hopeful house music strewn with the sleaziness of Venice beach and too much free poured tequila. And so, Panama was born. Magic is a modern summer anthem. And what better way to celebrate the party season than some bonus remix action by the worlds most avid dance enthusiasts The Sydney-based quartet join forces with DFA heavyweights and Panama fans, Midnight Magic and Gavin Russom (The Crystal Ark) on remixing duties for their debut release.

Official release of the previously unreleased album of the famous 12'' classic. ASSO' the alter ego of italian producer Victorio Pezzolla is something like a Italo Disco one hit wonder. The Do it Again / Don't Stop 12' has original been released in 1983 and is meanwhile one of the most sought after 12' releases from Italy. Unfortunately the related album hasen't been brought to the market back in the 80's. Victorio Pezzolla and Private Records rediscovered the original analog master tape some months ago in an archive of an Italian publisher. The absurdity that the music has never been commercially released leads to the fact that this masterpiece, a complete unreleased original 80's album, will be brought to you fresh and unspent in 2012. Italo Disco, Space Funk and balearic grooves are combining to an unique Italo Disco release. Limited to 300 copies

In a time where music classification and compartmentalising of genres loses all meaning, Jon Convex has been at the forefront advocating a new wave of electronic music. His new solo album 'IDORU' (A Japanese word derived from the English 'idol') is his multi-dimensional sound projected into a new species of electronic music production.
Convex's roots were already planted deep in cutting edge electronica as one half of genre bending duo Instra:mental, who's impressive list of achievements include: the award winning Fabric Live CD (alongside long time friend and collaborator dBridge) and the groundbreaking Autonomic Podcast series; with downloads reaching up to 60,000 a month. Armed with his serendipitous artillery, his solo efforts still encompass much of what gained the Instra:mental team such adoration but also embrace a brazen lust for evolution.
The themes on Idoru are evident from the start. Influenced from a young age, growing up in a video rental store during the 80's and vinyl hunting in the 90's, these distinguished eras are stamped all over Idoru. The album is further fused with his previous production mastery pirouetting gracefully over his mutated Techno House repertoire. From the Autonomic inspired 'Fade' to the brooding tones of 'About Her' who's late night vibes and pitched vocals pay homage to Drexciyan project 'Other peoples place'. There is a clear statement that his Instra:mental heritage has ripened into a full blown party commander.
Jon reveals deeper into the essence of the debut solo album, "The album feels like a continuation of where I left of with the 'Resolution 653' album as Instra:mental. I've taken what I learned and moulded it to fit the direction I'm taking with Idoru. I've taken all my influences over the past 20 odd years and crafted an album that should appeal to both home listening and DJ abuse."
While Convex has seemed to have taken a still and confident pace to his solo work so far, the inaugural album will be accompanied with a live audio visual show on tour. It is very clear Jon has been busy. Very busy.
"I've been flat out writing the album, designing the art for the EP's and album, creating a live set and working alongside a visual artist for my live show. Over the last year every minute has been spent working or thinking about the album," he says.
The anticipation is hitting a crescendo.
Idoru is set for a July release with two very limited vinyl only EP's leading up to the launch. Each EP will be limited to 300 copies each and will feature full art and coloured vinyl all shrink-wrapped for the vinyl collector.

Profumo is the first release in the new Don't Be Afraid 10" series entitled DBA DUBS. This series is about teaming a London house dub with a 'techno-related' dancefloor remix.
