Big Strick - Resivior Dogs

The Detroit veteran and "cousin to Omar-S" known as Leonard "Big Strick" Strickland returns with the follow-up to his well-received 2011 long player, Detroit Heat. Where that largely stuck to deep house, this set casts the net much wider, offering a mixture of sparse, melodic techno, hypnotic tech house and even ambient moods (check the luscious "Days Gone") alongside Strickland's simple-bit-effective deep house. Check, for example, the classic Detroit revivalism of "Reese Cup", the chiming melodies and jackin' beats of "Code 1" and the curious piano jazz of "Slow Ride". There's also a track written with friend Omar-S, the wonderfully deep and fluid "Family Affair".

Society Of Silence - Signifying Monkey

Society of Silence is proud to present their very first lp!
Society Of Silence combines the forces of two great Parisian artists and friends, Benoît Legrain or BNY, and Nicolas Villebrun known as Tite and for his production assistance with the electronic pop-rock group, Poni Hoax.'Signifying Monkey' plays around with it's words just as much as it's structure, while 'Beat Reading Detroit' takes us through a nostalgic journey into the collective subconscious of techno. The confluence of dark and euphoric energies conveyed here by S.O.S. capture the dangerous and thrill-seeking memories going to old-school raves and after-hours parties. Deep and raw beginning to end.

Groove Armada - No Ejector Seat Ep

Groove Armada drop their second single for new home, Hypercolour, this August with the 'No Ejector Seat' EP.

Raising more than a few eyebrows with the announcement that Hypercolour will be the massive dance act's new home earlier this year, Tom Findlay and Andy Cato swiftly explained why with an EP that indulged their long standing passions for the sort of raw, interesting electronic house music that the increasingly noteworthy UK label is renowned for.

The new release, 'No Ejector Seat' EP, takes in four brand new tracks from Findlay & Cato and yet again sees them joyfully immersing themselves in gritty warehouse grooves. The musicians other influences aren't far away though, with dub and disco aesthetics in particular bleeding through in particular on tracks like the epic, slow burning opener 'Activate my Heart'.

Elsewhere, raucous warehouse and early '90's sounds, albeit updated with respect and finesse, inform tracks like the jackinfused 'Always Take Me Higher' and the out-and-out mind melting aggression of 'Chicago Chicago'. 'The Vicksburg Cut'' slows the tempo a tad but does so to create a steady template that serves as a slick and entertaining walkthrough of the duo's perspective on classic house tropes. A fitting close to an EP that celebrates the wide-eyed early days of house.

Fabio Monesi & Mirco Violi - Back To Back Part.1

First release on vinyl for the Sicilian Aurour Records!
We have chosen for the debut of our first release on vinyl two Italian artists, new talent and owner of Wilson Records, Fabio Monesi, and the affirmed producer Mirco Violi.
The release is a good quality split, a mix of '90s underground classic sounds in Fabio Monesi's tracks, and most Deep sounds in Mirco Violi's tracks.
In A Side we can find the deeply house tracks by Fabio Monesi: "Drugsnare", energetic and by the title we can imagine that the snare leads the track."Machine", where the softer synth drags you along with the female voice In B-side we have, instead, the two tracks by Mirco Violi, where the Deep sound envelops you in a long journey through vintage sounds and hypnotic synths.Do not miss this split of pure MADE IN ITALY sound.

The mysterious Zohar nobody knows who he is, but what we do know is that his music is truly remarkable. We first took notice of him for his great records on the equally fantastic label Quintessentials. His love for Philly Soul samples is one of the reasons why he is such a perfect match for Tenderpark since we are big Philly lovers ourselves. Brooklyn 9.30 AM and Dog Day are full of wonderful Soul references and so is the Drei Farben House Edit of Brooklyn. Another deep quality outing from Tenderpark.

Ziro's debut release aims squarely for the dark heart of the dancefloor. Punishing 4x4 kicks ride thunderous, swollen basslines to devastating effect. It's an astonishingly simple formula but it serves as a bold statement of intent from the young producer.Early support from the likes of Mosca and Brackles on Rinse FM and BBC Radio 1 saw Ziro invited to record a guest mix for Mary Anne Hobbs' XFM show back in January - a significant feat for a producer with no releases to his name.

Fudge Fingas - S.v.t. Ep

Rush Hour
31.08.2012

UK's Fudge Fingas debuts on Rush Hour with his S.V.T. EP, which includes the modern soul classic 'Snow Day'.
Fudge Fingas aka Gavin Sutherland, mostly known for his releases on Prime Numbers and Firecracker, has been quite prolific over the past few years with releases out on various labels, but when he approached us with this three track demo, it was just too good to leave it untouched.
'Snow Day' is a dream-perfect, lullaby-like, reminiscing-heavy song about a... snow day. We are not sure why, as there is not much sun in the UK last time we checked, but we are sure that this song is so hot it will melt away any cold day.'Vin 2 Win' lifts us up and reminisces us back to back to the good old days somewhere in the mid nineties when Underground Resistance was giving is their take on 21st century funk. Amazing keyboard business.'Trans Pennine Express' closes off this EP in a delightfully deep manner. A great tune to close off the night, or start up your day.Three cheers for Fudge Fingas!

Out Of The Ashes

12inchFRBOXSET01
Freerange
04.09.2012

n August 4th 2011, the Sony Music warehouse in Enfield, North London was attacked during riots and looting that affected many areas of the capitol over the course of a week. The warehouse burned down completely, taking with it millions of CDs and vinyl stored by the distributor PIAS including the back catalogue of Freerange. The blow was devastating for many labels, with the logistics of manufacture and minimal insurance payouts meaning that recreating the entirety of their old stock was completely impossible and many releases have been lost forever as a result.
Vinyl is beloved of many not just for its retro appeal and alchemic audio qualities, but because of its physicality, the very real and tangible connection it gives you to the sound and art of music. Increasing interest in small scale and localised events like listening parties and Record Store Day proved that while vinyl might be an archaic niche interest in some respects, its power in binding together musical communities and inspiring passion and loyalty is still very real and current. Which is why we've brought together this box set of tracks from 12's lost in the fire and other music previously unavailable on vinyl: not to commemorate wanton destruction, or to mourn a loss, but to celebrate a lesson learned and a passion rekindled. Out of the ashes comes renewed determination to build for the future.
Trying to represent the label and artists from over one hundred and fifty 12's and thirty LP's was never going to be an easy task. We wanted to included a mixture of out-of-press favourites (Jimpster's Dangly Panther and Milton Jackson's Ghost In The Machines) as well as more recent digital only releases (Deetron's mix of Tony Lionni and Axel Boman's mix of Lovebirds) to give both the newcomer as well as the long-standing fan a representation of Freerange. The resulting 5 disc box set is something we're very proud of and want to send thanks and good vibes to all those DJ's, clubbers and music fans who have supported us over the years and helped enable us to do what we love to do; releasing the music we have passion for and believe in.

Crying Over You

12inchSAS003
Saints & Sonnets
12.07.2012

Electric Avenue artist J Cub is at the helm for the third release from Saints & Sonnets, a label that continues to justify the widespread hype laid upon Huxley, the Deep House poster boy that runs it. Much like J Cub's previous work on Electric Avenue and Foot & Mouth, "Crying Over You" is a perfectly judged slice of deep house, with the gently rising emotive production made all the more memorable by a excellent vocal turn from Bibi. Saints & Sonnets also keep up their impressive track record for remix commissions as two of electronic music's best vowel eschewers contribute excellent and varied revisions. Rush Hour's BNJMN elects to dice up the vocal refrain as well adding some rhythmic kinks to the original's straightforward groove, yet it's the way he reinterprets the melodic element as a monstrous wave of synthetic emotion that makes this remix special. In contrast RNDM opts for the kind of stripped down groove you'd expect from a Laid artist, allowing him the space to loop up Bibi's vocal and treat it to all manner of delay atop an increasingly expansive melange of audio vibes

Trackman Lafonte & Bon Qui Qui - Pacific House Ep

New Trackman Lafonte & Bon Qui Qui - Raw analogue house music!
When computer programmer and music enthusiast Lowrell "Trackman" LaFonte was relocated to a small suburb North of Santa Barbra California a chance
encounter brought him to meet Bonquiqui Pardue. As he scoured his local break to find someone with a resin patch kit to fix a fresh ding in his favorite tri-fin fishtail, Bonquiqui, dental hygienist, and also an avid
surfer just so happened to have a kit handy and a union was born. From this moment on Lafonte & Bonquiqui were inseparable, often hitting the clubs and
immersing themselves in Latin Freestyle and obscure local house productions from the smog filled Valley. As it would have it, eventually the two moved in together and began working on their own music, using strictly Casio drum machines and keyboards. Inadvertently, Lafonte & Bonquiqui pioneered a sound now known by the masses as "Surfer House." These three tracks stand as a testament to a time in California music history that can never be recreated, no matter how hard the posuers at the local break try.
