It's fitting that Andrew Weatherall himself discovered George Thompson, aka Black Merlin, in 2012, the year of our never-realized apocalypse. A vinyl release on Weatherall's Bird Scarer label followed, then World Unkown, Crimes of the Future, LN-CC, SORN, New Jersey, Common Thread... Shift focus to Balinese label 'Island of the Gods,' where Black Merlin's debut album 'HYPNOTIC TRADISI' sold out in 48 hours. Bleeding edge fashion label ACNE tapped him for their SS17 catwalk, and Black Merlin continues to push his retro-aggressive style forward to now- his new EP 'Control' for Boysnoize Records. Power, discipline, CONTROL- the word itself is inseparable from the aesthetic mythos of industrial music, channeled so adeptly by Black Merlin across the 4 track release. The first two cuts, 'Control' and 'Secondo,' capture the neurotic, mechanical energy of a fantasy after-hours in a weapons factory- the kind of sci-fi meets political unrest wet dream that was Amiga-tracked through every undercut, black booted teenager's imagination in the late 80's. Production evoking the most dancefloor forward moments of Front 242, a sound both retro and contemporary but firmly planted in dark and aggressive EBM... Sound familiar for a BNR release these days We hope so. Black Merlin's CONTROL EP is more than a record for DJ's, as the last two tracks discard the club's restraints for excursions into sound and narrative. 'Blindfold' is a nightmarish soundtrack to automated torture, complete with shouts and screams. It's a difficult listen but not easily shaken, and like a loose tooth you'll crave returning to it even though it hurts. 'Sequencer' closes the EP with slow, moody, analogue arpeggios, rising, falling, filtering, twisting around, through, over, and under each other. It's a caustic relief, but still a relief from an otherwise relentless EP in a relentless continuation of growth from the artist. Control- Black Merlin's here

Matt Edwards drops his eagerly anticipated debut Radio Slave album 'Feel The Same' via his Rekids imprint in September.
Easily his most recognisable nom de plume, Radio Slave was initially Matt's pseudonym for remixes, with early reinterpretations of Kylie Minogue and New Order leading into frequent work for both major and independent labels. He's now indisputably one of House and Techno's most in-demand remixers, whilst original Radio Slave productions have gone on to appear via reputable imprints like Running Back, R&S, Ostgut Ton, Nonplus and Work Them Records.
Instrumental in supporting the music and careers of artists such as Nina Kraviz, Spencer Parker, Gerd Janson, and many others via his label Rekids - Edwards is held in high regard for his A&R abilities and has also established numerous other renowned labels such as Pyramids Of Mars, Cabin Fever, and The Double R. Now, more than 10 years since Rekids' inception and with over 100 releases under its belt, the influential figure announces the release of his debut Radio Slave album; a masterpiece of sophisticated electronic music that evokes the early spirit of dance music yet continues to forge his reputation as a cutting edge and innovative producer.
The album is a culmination of years as a DJ, producer and remixer; with influences spanning a range of genres such as breaks and jungle, acid, Balearic, ambient, dub, Chicago and also vocal samples exemplary of the Radio Slave sound. Opening with the beatless '2nd Home', with its murky tones and field recordings, the album navigates between syncopated beats and ethereal voices as found in
'Forana', as well as screeching synths and moody basslines like in 'Trans'.
More high tempo cuts like 'Geisterstadt' see Edwards shift towards electro, whereas heady break beats lay the foundation for 'With You'. Alongside the album's title track 'Feel The Same', 'No Words / Just
This' is one of the most dance floor focused cuts with its driving energy and metallic synths, while 'Axis' and 'Draw' see the producer venture towards a more minimal aesthetic.
Under his various guises Matt Edwards has continued to demonstrate how musically diverse he is as a producer without any compromise in quality. His REKID moniker features more of his downtempo work with a album release on Soul Jazz, not to mention timeless releases like 'Next Stop Chicago' and 'Lost

Sometimes life is about compromise, and if youget enough future-italo-electro hits like this one you may be lucky enough to forget whatyou wanted in the first place. 03- Melé Remix Don't you ever dare say that Turbo doesn't care about young UK producers. Until youstop for good, we'll keep tapping talents like Melé, whose love of Brazilian beats, classichouse tracks, and trans-Atlantic hip-hop shine through on this mix. But while genre checklists are great and vital and exciting and so much of the reason we do what we do, it's the music that's the pudding you'll find your proof in.

Since summer 2016, 'Keep On' has been doing the rounds in the house music community, with support from some of the biggest names on the circuit playing the track on a week-by-week basis. Initially made off the cuff as a tribute to Chicago's ghetto house sound and inspired by the DC10 terrace, the track went onto become something of a monster that the young Scottish producer never anticipated. After 6 months after constant requests the track will finally be publicly available. Upfront high and energy drums combine with brash vocal samples to make the track a dance floor weapon for a peak time dancefloor. On the flip 'Antonio's Keys' takes things deeper, the track works percussion into more thumping 4x4 kick drums whilst the hypnotic lead line pushes the track forward into the early hours of the morning. Limited to 300 hand stamped copies.

The long overdue last vinyl part of the Unit Moebius Golden years album! Including the classic aquatic techno track Dolfinarium (which goes for top prices on ebay and discogs), and the emotive Ecology and Duplovision tracks and the acidic Monoman track. Groundbreaking in 1992 and still fresh almost 20 years later! This is among the best techno ever released in the lowlands and a true classic that inspired many!

Berlin-based producer Palms Trax picks one of our favourites 'The Infamous' by Butch & C.Vogt cooking up a very cool version, combining the subtle atmospheric deep vibe and hazy synths with a swinging bass-heavy and a pinch of Acid.
Chicago House Music legend Roy Davis Jr. delivers a powerful interpretation of 'Below My Hands' from Bocca Grande mixing the soulful Chicago-style house with r&b influences.

Ewan Jansen, true unsung underground hero of the Australian electronic scene,
adds his unique melodic take on Taras Van De Voorde's '1998'.

The Keinemusik boss Rampa closes the package with a killer remix of 'Deep Musique' by Pasta Boys Feat. Osunlade, definitely another dancefloor peak time cut on Rebirth !

The cover sleeve is a work by Emil Schult, who has created a painting
especially for the Rebirth's Anniversary.

Emil is known for his work with electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk. Schult's collaboration with founders Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider saw him actively involved in writing lyrics as well as generating the design for some of the band's most famous covers including 'Ralf & Florian', 'Autobahn', 'Radioactivity', 'Trans Europe Express' and 'Computer World'.

This release from DMX Krew, a.k.a. Edward Upton begins with a tribute from the artist to his father, whose voice is sampled on the track. This acid inspired track sets the tone for the rest of the EP continuing to delve into the realms of the 303. The release is only available on vinyl, and limited to just 300 hand numbered copies.

The next release on Man Power's Me Me Me features two emotive leftfield house cuts from DSC, the newly minted production alias of Desert Sound Colony, aka Liam Wachs, the man behind the newly launched Holding Hands record Label.
Wake up, is a sweetly melodic track of pulsing house, with Coming Round providing a pumping and muscular leftfield techno counterpoint.
On remix duties Man Power invites north east upstart Elliot Adamson to remix Wake Up, before his full length EP coming up next on the label. Hotly tipped by everyone from Jackmaster to Jamie Jones, Elliot is a superstar in the making, and relishes the opportunity to flex his more esoteric muscles with a slice of deconstructed electro that hints at the startling musical breadth, which the young producer is only beginning to reveal.
Coming Round is remixed by none other the legendary Rex The Dog, who is not only an artist who Man Power has huge admiration for, but also someone he is pleased to call a good friend. The trust between the two artists shines through, as 'Rex' provides possibly one of the most unfettered dancefloor tracks of his career.

Legendary Swedish production unit FRAK debut on UTTU with 4 jackin club tracks. The Börft Records founders deliver a wide array of dancefloor focused analogue mayhem! TIP!

Japan's Hokuto Sato is back on his own Aura Music with three hypnotic techno-house. On the A side, we've got 2 tracks composed of rich layers of concrete sounds and strange voice samples over tight drums and percussions. On the flip 'Awayuki (light snow)' is a good example of how piano house can be twisted and stripped down for modern dance floors.

When words fail, music has the ability to depict the deepest of human emotions and once again Kidnap Kid uses his signature emotive and sophisticated production to do just that. He returns to Birds That Fly, the label he founded less than a year ago with ' Brokenhearted' an EP containing two original tracks.
'Brokenhearted is a reaction to the immense sadness in the world. My way of processing endless tragedy and distant despair. Mist, on the other hand, is a more hopeful response; a faraway light at the end of the tunnel' -

Musicians have been making music about love and heartbreak for hundreds of years and Kidnap Kid's statement on the eternally relevant topic starts with' BrokenHearted',a track that taps into the memory vaults. Next up is 'Mist' whose simple melody is layered over intricate sounds to create an immensely absorbing track.
The start of 2016 saw Kidnap Kid launch his Birds That Fly imprint as a platform for his own music as well as a means to support like minded producers, such as Applebottom and Amtrac, both releasing on the label with great success. The label's debut release was from Kidnap Kid himself and ' Moments' was met with such high acclaim it collectively reached 10 million streams, 1.3 million of those coming from Spotify and subsequently made the Spotify chart in over 10 countries. Swiss duo ME & her join the Hottrax roster with a robust release featuring British duo Dense & Pika and Detroit's DJ Bone on remix duties.

With recent appearances on Deeperfect, Natura Viva and Clarisse Records, the rising duo has quickly cemented a reputation as ones to watch since making their production debut back in 2014. Joining them on the release is Dense & Pika, who have been taking the world by storm whilst releasing on leading labels such as Adam Beyer's Drumcode, Scuba's Hotflush, not to mention renowned UK imprint Hypercolour. Originally released in 1997 on the Global Communications sub-label Heard, 'The voyage' has long been a record steeped in cult mystery. One of those slabs of wax that almost define category - is it Techno Is it deep house Does it matter When music is this engrossing, emotive and majestic categorisation seems almost futile. Rolling, trance inducing, jacking in all the right places, 'The voyage' and it's b-side companion ('Subsonic interference') still sound incredibly fresh today. Hot Creations gear up to drop the eagerly anticipated House & Pressure from hot property Route 94. Echoing the excitement that surrounded his No.1 hit My Love, which shot him to stardom, the record has been in serious demand for months. Rowan Jones aka Route 94 explains how he wanted to 'put out three tracks that were diverse yet definitive.' Title track House & Pressure packs a real punch and contains the vocals from Joey Negro's classic Ride the Storm featuring Linda Clifford. The dominant female vocal on 'House & Pressure' combined with the force of the drum machines is a traditional element that people connect to the Route 94 productions. Blake Baxter is undoubtedly Detroit techno royalty. His unique style and sound has always found fans around the world since his first releases back in the late 80's. We decided to reach out to Blake here at Mint Condition HQ and we were hugely under-prepared for the reply we'd get back from him. 'Master tapes!' we said - 'Yes' said Blake. OK, who wouldn't wish to hear unreleased mixes and versions of some bonafide Detroit techno classics we thought That's what you're going to get with Mint Condition number 12, some unheard, unreleased, straight from Blake Baxter's 4 track tape stash HEAT. As you're all aware, 1991's seminal 'Prince of techno' EP originally came out on Underground Resistance and we've been given exclusive permission to reissue the EP (almost) in it's entirety, the only difference being that this pressing doesn't include 'Vision of truth' and features unheard versions of the other tracks that appeared on that EP as well as the original, classic mix of 'When a thought becomes you'. Yes, Blake dug deep for us in his archive and we are proud to present this important document of classic Detroit techno, never before heard - until now. Exciting stuff!

Cervo is no stranger to producing high quality dancefloor ready House cuts. Released on 13th October, 'Deyo / Kasoa' is no exception to this rule. After a tough period mentally and a formative trip to Ghana, Cervo combines his love for field recordings with his well known take on the classic House structure. The end result is slighter harder than his previous work but signifies his growth and development as an artist. The lead track, 'Deyo', starts as it means to go on. Straight away the punchy and energetic percussions draws you in and remains captivating for the entire track but it's the melody that stands out. The sense of urgency is soothed by looping bass and piano riffs, complimenting each other perfectly throughout. 'Kasoa' is approached differently than the flip 'Deyo', more care and consideration is taken. It slowly builds up with field recordings as the backdrop providing context before allowing a clear and definitive vibe to be established.

The first of a two part 12" sampler taken from our Leftback Vol.1 mix CD featuring four previously unreleased tracks is now available in unmixed format on vinyl. The four tracks were previously featured exclusively as part of Leftback Vol.1 with the first edition including new music from Harry McCanna, DTG, Mathew Burton, Dudley Strangeways, TIJN & Liro.

MR. STATIK With previous contributions from Joe Claussell, Move D, Mr. Ties, Reagenz, Discrete Circuit and their very own AWAY Soundsystem, the Berlin label AWAY achieved a great deal of attention since its first release back in 2015. After having played at their infamous party series before, the Greek all-rounder Mr. Statik now also debuts as a producer on AWAY. As emphasized with releases on such labels as BPitch Control, Amam, or Rotary Cocktail, the resident of Athen's club Six D.O.G.S draws inspiration from pop culture like science-fiction movies as well as comic books, also reflected in his 'Rogue Cherub EP". INFO ROGUE CHERUB EP It's an open secret that Mr. Statik has a strong penchant for working with vocalists, and the title track is no different. Starting off with an ingenious medley assembled through samples, rhythmic elements, and a funk-infused bass-line, 'Rogue Cherub EP' highlights the Greek's unordinary approach on house music. Despite the partly broken, partly playful vibe it's Dave Aju's distinctive voice holding everything together in a serene fashion. No less than the acknowledged master Matthew Herbert himself scales the hybrid down, attaching just the right disco-house touches to create yet another dance floor gem.
