Since the release of his debut 'Hyph Mngo' that swept the global dance music world in 2009, British producer Peter O'Grady (aka Orbison) makes his return on Hotflush Recordings as Joy O in 2011. These two productions take a more straightforward approach, toeing along the lines of classic house music, infused with this talented producer's own signature style, weaving rolling acidic basslines in 'Wade In' and uplifting melodies in 'Jels' and over shuffling Roland drums and blissful atmospherics.

This year Kevin Saunderson, Ann Saunderson and Paris Grey, collectively known as the legendary band Inner City, release 'Future', their first entirely new material since parting company in 2001, written and produced in collaboration with another Detroit legend, namely Kenny Larkin.
The track marks a welcome return for a group that combined the tough, futuristic grooves of the Detroit scene with the vocal energy of R&B and gospel and helped to define the period in which house and techno moved from underground phenomena to top 10 material, paving the way for hundreds of dance hits to come.
'Future' is devastatingly catchy and highly emotional, exhibiting all the soulful flavours and qualities you would expect from these celebrated producers and singers. MK renders the dub with his signature 90s house sound, detuned organs and chopped up vocals a plenty. One sided hand stamped record limited to 400 copies.

"The ever on-point, Turquoise Blue imprint, returns this September, with the 'Durian' EP, from rising producer, SLOK, backed with remixes from Belgium's, Ultrasone, and L.A trio, Droog.
Italian producer Alessandro Russo aka SLOK has been on an ever-evolving rise to fame over the past eight or so years, racking up releases on some of underground electronic music's well-respected labels, namely, Get Physical Music, Moodmusic, My Favorite Robot, and Turbo Recordings. As well as running his, Electronic Petz imprint, a label, which delivers fresh contemporary house cuts, and has introduced many newcomers onto the scene.
The original mix of title cut, 'Durian', kicks things off here, a dark and brooding number, employing punchy, raw drums, cavernous background atmospherics, crunchy saw-wave bass and bubbling vocal lines, to create a tripped out gritty house number. The Ultrasone duo, notably known for their work on Visionquest and Supplement Facts, rework 'Durian' into a low-slung ethereal workout next, stripping back the vibe with sparse, soft, and jazzy drums, while a hooky organ and whispering pads add a soulful, deep texture to the record, as expected the reshape is emotive and melodically stunning.
Up next is the second original cut from SLOK, entitled 'Keep Moving', a great follow up from the Ultrasone mix as Russo delves into a minimalistic vibe himself this time. Simple 4/4 beats lay in the background, while rolling sub bass tones, elongated echoes and sporadic synth sweeps run alongside murmuring low-pitched vocals, again resulting in a moody dance-floor ready house record. Culprit's, Droog, stick their original contemporary stamp on 'Keep Moving' to follow, the trio take snippets from the original track, but add their unique characteristics to things, with intricate, ever-evolving synth lines brilliantly warbling in pitch, and a dropped tempo vibe, allowing the melodies to really bloom. Ghosts of the Sky is a new project from Taelue and Chicagodeep, the producers behind the occasional Perpetual Rhythms label. They begin in a murky mood with "Asylum", a low-slung, dub-influenced late night techno shuffler that makes great use of foreboding, horror-inspired chords, ghoulish electronics and delay-laden vocal yelps. It sounds like a contemporary take on the kind of gothic moodiness once offered up by Bauhaus. There's more of an unflustered aesthetic about "Squash", a throbbing deep techno jam that makes great use of undulating acid lines and picturesque chords. Flipside "Cycle Turning" closes proceedings by joining the dots between the yearning beauty of classic deep house, the far-sighted electronics of futurist techno and clattering intensity of analogue drum machine rhythms.

The maverick maestro from the Bay Dave Aju is back with his Circus family here with an incredible new release. Based on stripped-down hardware sessions rocking just a Roland TR-909 and SH-101, Aju once again proves that no sound set need be limited in itself and along with the addition of one microphone for his inimitable soulful voice, creates one of his strongest and most imaginative releases to date, the 10101 EP. A multiple homage to the 101 freeway that spans his native Golden State and the numeric classic analog boxes used vs digital binary to process them, the four rich tracks offer the best of both worlds and cover all the bases of Mr Aju's musical multiverse. "Low Dive" starts things on a deep heads-down dance floor tip where rising synth lines soar over a blast of shuffling drums and percussion for a rocksolid DJs delight. "Always Never" comes next with pure Aju magic, equal parts song and track, an ear worm of a chorus, and full of sunny West Coast electro influences all the way through. On the flip "Sides" may very well be one of Aju's most intense transmissions ever, with a sublime and seemingly endless build-up of dark pads, driving, shifting rhythms, and voodoo vocals that will detonate many a peak-hour sound system guaranteed. Aju then tastefully finishes with the cool psychedelic mid-tempo bump of "Tell Her Why" which harks back to his hip-hop roots and wraps up the vibe and elements of the whole EP perfectly. Welcome back with a bang brother Aju!

To commemorate our 10 year anniversary celebration, this new release comes in the form of our beloved Deepchord presents Echospace project. The set was recorded live at 'Ghost In The Sound' on 05/26/2013 a few miles away from Hart Plaza. An official Movement after party curated by The Detroit Paranormal Society in association with Echospace, and now re-mastered by Rod Modell. From the second the bass dropped, it stole the breath from the room! This duo started off as barely more than a rumor supported mostly by the continous scarcity of their records. The duo comprised of Detroit's Rod Modell and Steven Hitchell have spent nearly two decades producing low-key electronic music both bordering on the verge of myth. They're considered by many the most noted producers operating in the dub-infused aftermath of the Basic Channel axis and all its myriad offshoots. Once their critically-acclaimed The Coldest Season emerged on one the UK based Modern Love imprint, the curtain was unveiled and the sound of Echospace was born. They've often been coined the true heirs to the Basic Channel legacy but their work finds a home somewhere on the outskirts of the galaxy, where Detroit soul ties to Jamaican roots played through a tunnel in deep space. This evocative, immersive sound that is Echospace was born out of a love and passion for analog circuitry, sound design, field recordings and non-conventional methods of recording. But it's also work that's quintessentially building upon the Detroit electronic scene where it was born, and that divine marriage of roots and vision make the work at once so highly considered, so pertinent and so timeless. This is the first new album from the Echospace duo since the critically-acclaimed Silent World (OST) 3LP/CD set dropped 5 years ago, it features live renditions of some of their classics as well as unreleased material. Expect gorgeous plumes of sound deeper than the ocean floor, a rich analog tapestry made and performed in the heart of Detroit, Techno City!

REPRESS ALERT: London based house imprint Trelik presents OCH who under this anonym initially stepped up for PAL SL and has since bagged winners on Autoreply, Stuga Musik and soon SECT. With a compulsive passion for the dying art of crate-digging combined with a love for modern synthesis techniques he manages to put together a 12" that could easily be described as psychedelic Chicago. Whalesong is a pulsating floor work-out which references the US greats whilst building an emotive sub-aqua soundscape. Blind is The Wind follows with a sneaky chord driven spoken interlude which creates an air of tension before climaxing into Last Chance Saloon. This is deep yet driving showcasing haunting vocals with lush chords alongside the original principles of house music and plenty of bass. Mastered by Rashad at D & M.

REPRESS ALERT: Parrish Smith's debut of dystopic forbidding sets the tone of this label's impressive first release with a superb stark, acid ridden slab of body music. Helena Hauff adds to the proceedings with her remix of Pankow's"Das Vodkalied" taking no prisoners and using heavy percussion in contrast to a wonderfully tense set of arpeggiations, which all descend into skull crushing pressure. Carrying over to the flip side are Pankow, pioneers of the Italian Industrial/EBM scene, with two tracks from their legendary first tape "Throw Out Rite" from 1983. With "Das Vodkalied" disembodied vocals are cut up and come from every direction driven by a raw, off-kilter energy and pounding beat. "I'm Food For You" cranks up the drive and anxiety to create a killer track based around stark arpeggiation. Last of all, Perseus Traxx provides an acidic stripped down venting of frustrations which he spits out with vehemence.

Originally released on the V.A. Quintessentials 50 and making rather big waves, 'Grooff Machine' from Ponty Mython gets the remix treatment for some more dope grooffs! Chicago hotshot Chrissy (The nite owl diner, Classic, Razor n' Tape) puts enough Disco and Acid in it and offers a great clubby alltime classic. Ponty himself fuses lost of House, Disco, Funk and 808 busines so that you can grooff to the max. The annual Cocoon Ibiza mix is back with another bang this summer with the essential 2017 edition mixed by two top talents in Nastia and Einzelkind.
Nastia is one of the hottest DJs in the world right now. The Ukrainian is headlining clubs and festivals around the globe and showcasing not only great technical skills but also a real breadth and depth of techno knowledge. Focussing on DJing rather than production, Nastia has also run her own festival, Strichka, and has been resident at key clubs Arma17, Fuse and Ampere. As such she is a perfect fit for this job.
Kicking off with vital veterans 100HZ, she wastes no time in getting down to a thumping, jazz-tinged groove. From there, techno pioneers like Luke Slater sit next to d&b don Calibre and Detroit legends like Terrence Dixon. The resulting mix is tight and cohesive, and journeys through acid, jacking drum tracks and driving stuff that never lets up.
Taking care of the second disc is Einzelkind, the German who runs three labels including JAX and Pressure Traxx and for more than a decade has been releasing on Get Physical, Playhouse and Cécille, amongst others. He is a no-nonsense DJ who has played the likes of fabric and Space, and as such has helped put his hometown of Frankfurt on the underground dance map.
His selections call upon plenty of his own tracks, both solo and produced with the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Robin Scholz and Markus Fix. The resulting 70 odd minute mix is more stripped back and cerebral than the first. It is always married to a slick underlying groove and is embellished with minimal synths and brain melting pads that work perfectly in the late night and freaky hours in the club. Always keeping you on your toes, it ducks and dives, bobs and weaves in fluid fashion, and is a nice heady yin to the more physical yang of disc one.
Once again then, both these CDs embody what it is to head to the legendary Cocoon party at Amnesia each Monday of an Ibiza summer.

Hot on the heels of May's Ambivert Tools Volume One Lone AKA Matt Cutler delivers the second instalment of breezy atmospheric house, stacked with 'floor ready trax, inspired by his red hot Magic Wire imprint. First up is the tropical percussion and telescoping arpeggios of 'A Mind's Eye Melody', displaying Cutler's talent for a nagging melody it comes on like Tangerine Dream remixed by 808 State - pulsating drums, hymnal chords and gooey sub bass. 'Looking Glass' calls to mind a Mood II Swing dub - truncated stabs and jacking rhythms overlaid with shimmering resampled piano chords that give way to a slashing FM riff that contrasts sweetly. In the B2 slot Cutler unfurls a hushed, 6 minute balearic reprise of the 'A Mind's Eye Melody', heartstopping Emulator II chords and harp glissandi wash over a wistful flute figure pedal to sweetly memorable effect.
'Ambivert Tools' finds Cutler a true master, at the top of his game - taking all he's learned over his many years of beat exploration and condensing it down into rugged house stacked full of nagging melody / harmony that feels fresh and vital to 21st dance floors.

Zomby, one of the UK's most enigmatic electronic producers, underscores his already illustrious succession of releases with his forthcoming EP 'Gasp!', released on Big Dada. Zomby's ability to effortlessly shift aesthetics across his career has firmly stationed him as a producer that can't be boxed.
'Gasp!' sees him altering his often jungle-driven sound yet again, furthering him as a sonic chameleon among an ever-increasing landscape of musical similitude. Utilising analogue equipment that was recorded live to a digital surface, he says, 'I was tired of too much digitisation and over-saturation; this is a work that represents a shift forward for me.'
The compact, three track EP is a relentless, hardware-driven behemoth of beats and breaks that fit somewhere between a chugging steel factory and a darkened dancefloor.

2016 was a banner year for Dirtybird's founder, Claude VonStroke. He debuted his Get Real alias with Green Velvet in the winter, and followed up with another number one single in the spring with 'The Rain Break'. He celebrated the 10th anniversary of 'Who's Afraid of Detroit' to kick off the Summer, and finished in the fall by being crowned 'America's Best DJ' by Pioneer at a ceremony he shared with all the fans at the Dirtybird Campout.
After a relentless touring schedule the first half of 2017, Claude hit the studio with a couple ace producers, Will Clarke & Sébastien V to collaborate on two giant singles for the 'Works Well With Others' EP.
'Tiny Tambourine' is the product of Will Clarke & Claude working together. It's a bit of a misnomer, as 'tiny' is the last word to describe the heavy bassline which starts to form immediately at the track's outset. Continuing to build over crisp and heavy beats and outbursts of drama before dropping back to the burly bassline, the result is monstrous. Will Clarke has been on a Dirtybird hot streak having released 3 solo EPs, 5 singles, an appearance on Justin Martin's album, as well as a brand new collab with Shiba San on the BBQ compilation and a full takeover on the Birdhouse radio show.
On the flip side, Claude teams up with one of Dirtybird's freshest talents, Sébastien V, for 'Daylight Dark Room'. A light, melodic tone contrasts with a dark and funky acid resonance to create a truly unique masterpiece. The mysterious Sébastien V was also featured on the Dirtybird BBQ compilation with his super-hot track 'Funkulate,' and there are rumors floating around that he is actually someone from the core Dirtybird roster sporting a secret alias.

Next up on Moss Co. is a 3 tracker from long-time Moscow Records artists Dan Farserelli, remixed by the supremely talented Tom Ellis. The record opens with Lemons and Limes, a catchy roller that bumps and grinds its way into the soul, each revolution of the bassline giving the body a sense of fulfilment, while jazzy musical elements entertain the mind.
On the flip That Time is a classic piece of micro house perfect for the early hours. A sparse, but groovy bassline is complemented by catchy hooks, percussion and a creative arrangement.
The Tom Ellis remix on the B2 completes the record with a particularly trippy, but incredibly catchy, afterhours interpretation.

Anyone familiar with the music of Sinisa Tamamovic knows the man is an expert in techno floor fillers....The tracks here are no exception; Valentina and Confused reside in the world of bold, unrelenting grooves constructed with little more than bass and drums: and they get the job done. The bass lines are distinctly Sinisa; simple, catchy, and mixed exquisitely, they take on a whole new attitude when played on club systems.
Valentina starts things strong, its driving rhythm gains energy as atmospheres develop and an rworldly vocal enters, a Latin American street rhyme that gives the track some international flare. Confused is more raw, employing rough drums and ethereal sound effects. Either one will do the trick for peak hours and late nights.

FUSE London's sister label, Infuse, welcomes Spanish producer Sonodab into the fold. Set for release on X, Infuse 006 consists of three wickedly hypnotic house mutations from the Barcelona based producer which perfectly fit with Infuse's famed sound.
'Noctum' kicks off the EP in fine style with rolling percussion, a distant twinkling melody and elastic bass resulting in a simple yet brilliant eyes-down dance floor tool. 'Rainy Day' continues in a similar vein, with incessant hi-hats, panning pads and gorgeous thick bass, it is another intricately produced track with a smoky aesthetic. 'Escape' rounds off the EP and is the warmest track on offer with rich synths and full melodies shimmering over a rhythmic core.
On his debut, Sonodab has delivered a worthy addition to the Infuse series. The 'Escape EP' is a distinctive package packed full of crisp percussion and hypnotic sounds, another one for the heads.

Despite building their careers out of strikingly different musical places, both dBridge and Radioactive Man have taken influence from the field in which each other operate. dBridge (Darren White) was part of the iconic drum & bass outfit Bad Company and he helms one of the scene's most solid and quality imprints in Exit Records and Radioactive Man (Keith Tenniswood) was born from the acid house scene and the off kilter electronics of his Two Lone Swordsman projects (alongside Andrew Weatherall) which led him to create his decidedly UK take on Drexciyan electro. It's by no means a stretch to learn that both producers have crates that contain their favourites from each genre but they've also found a mutual respect and connection in the studio over the last few years, leading to the dBRm moniker for Craig Richards' The Nothing Special label

"I don't really buy into latest trends; I try to make music that does not date.' the British-born DJ and producer GARRY TODD reveals about his art. He is the man behind the label Contemporary Scarecrow - a platform that like-wise publishes music and fashion. After a nomadic life between Australia, Ibiza and the UK, he settled down in Down Under for some years and became a central figure of the club scene in and around Sydney. Now the boy from Sunderland is back in the UK, relocated in London and locked himself into his studio to produce tracks that play deep with the genre house. After his celebrated debut album "Nora Lilian" and various EP's for labels such as Illusion Recordings and BPitch Control, he now drops his new 12 inch "Mind's Eye". The title track knocks immediately with a dry bassdrum and an extra-terrestrial voice loop in the back. After a short while powerful kickdrums and hand-claps transform the sensation into a dark house monster. The second tune "Dream For You" is pure house, too. Again peppered by dry kickdrums and nonchalant claps. And again a voice is guiding the listeners. It comes from the London based singer Josh Caffe, whose singing resembles the vibe of that good old house-nation, in which singers like Jamie Principle heated the clubs with androgynous voices. Also the third track "Take Control" is fuelled with a magical vocal loop. His style is again House, but he jacks with more BPM and got some nervous funk in his blood. The vinyl edition features an ambient edit of the title track. And the digital version drops an instrumental version of "Dream For You" on top. A thick pack, produced and corded to withstand time.
