Schon vor ziemlich genau einem Jahr zeigten sie mit der auf - U6 Schallplatten' veröffentlichten Compilation - Various Artists Vol.1', das von ihnen noch einiges erwartet werden kann. Die A Seite schmückt Sinus mit seinen 2 Tracks - Torture Me'(offizieller Soundtrack des - Grüne Sonne Festivals' 2014) und - Dachkammer'. Beide sind definiert durch Vielseitigkeit, einer deepen Atmosphäre und einem stetigen Groove. Auf der B Seite tobt sich Rafner mit seiner Nummer - Nordwind' aus. Breite Flächen und lange Breaks unterstützt von einem satten Beat laden definitiv zum Tanzen ein. Abgerundet wird die Scheibe durch den smoothen Nordwind Remix von Ill-Boy-Phil und Sebastian Fleischer, welcher ein schön melancholischen Abschluss zu den vorher gehenden Tracks bildet.

Its a bold and brave producer who takes on the task of remixing a stone-cold classic cut from the annuals of House history, but thats just what Joris Voorn, KiNK, Phil Weeks and Ambivalent have done with their fresh versions of DJ Dozia's Ovum debut 'Pop Culture'. Originally released back in 1998 'Pop Culture' rapidly gained cult status on the underground. Created by fellow Philly resident Dozia Blakey, the raw and sparse original, at over ten minutes, was made for the dark, strobe-lit, sweat-on-walls rooms where it found favour. Backed by the equally popular Size-9 remix, 'Pop Culture' was, and still is, a record that never leaves the box for many. Now, with a fresh set of remixes, its set for a glorious return. The original twelve inch is still one of the most sought after twelve inches on discogs. So what did persuade our set of remixers to take on this challenge Well, lets ask them... Joris Voorn - It was a defining moment finding Dj Dozia's Pop Culture in my local record store in 1998. The simplicity of the record was evident, but the few elements in combination with the classic Peech Boys acapella sounded like more than the sum of it's parts. It was the blueprint of forward thinking house music, a sound that would inspire me to make tracks like 'Sweep The Floor' 10 years later. I remember asking Josh in 2007 if I could remix Pop Culture, but the remix offer came in much later. It turned out be an almost impossible task remixing a track so simple and powerful, it simply couldnt be improved. So I tried stepping away from the original sound and create something that is more like a nod to the original. Phil Weeks - This is without a doubt one of my favourite all-time 'classic' records. Since day one. So I was very happy to be asked to come on board with a remix. That's also the reason why I stayed pretty close to the OG version.' Ambivalent - Pop Culture is one of my all-time favorite records, not just on Ovum, but in the history of dance music.

Akbal Music has now been turning out essential dance music for a whole ten years and to celebrate this milestone the label puts out a vinyl only release from a fine selection of contemporary artists.
Vinyl only treat starts from long time German talent Sascha Dive, the Deep Vibes boss's 'Lab#4' is a quick and prickly number that sucks you into a shady groove underpinned with real bass menace.

Next up is Superlounge with Uluwatu Dub. The track starts swiftly with clever percussions and a lush pad quickly to progress with several drums rhythms into the bass that will keep the listeners tuned into its groove.

Romanian Mano Andrei appears with a sleek and stripped back tune that is full of electronic soul and infectiously bumpy drums and hypnotic vibes.

Finally minimal master Eastenderz and CatchRecordings associate Doubtingthomas is next with his vinyl only offering, going for a much more intricate, synthetic, richly designed deep house tune that is soft, succulent and truly sublime.

This is a fulsome package that packs plenty of punch and showcases exactly the sort of quality dance music that Akbal Music has been, and will always be, about.

Topping off another slow year at Assistance HQ, Mr Assister channels some slightly darker shades for the second release on BEAM, aimed squarely in the vague direction of the dance floor. In 'Masonic Forest', a rabble of delirious bongos get blown off course, trudging endlessly through the tangled grounds of the grand lodge. Down below on 'Jordan', drums pound incessantly and chants echo from the murky distance, valiant but ultimately inert on their futile march to nowhere.

Hotly anticipated, the release features two original cuts to fuel his rising profile.UK based Bontan has been using title track The First Time as his secret weapon for the last six months and is now finally unleashing it. 'I've been testing it and tweaking it play by play!' he explains. 'The vocal compliments the rolling bass melody and gives it a darker edge'. This a producer who fully understands how to create a track for a heaving dancefloor. In August 2017, Ghostly International will reissue Com Truise's Cyanide Sisters EP in premium 12' jacket. The first official Com Truise release — originally a digital download through AMDISCS in 2010, remastered and expanded by Ghostly in 2012 — Cyanide Sisters was an electrifying introduction to a prodigious new talent. At the time Seth Haley was a designer by trade, making music out of his bedroom in Princeton, New Jersey with a collection of analogue equipment. While many of his contemporaries were mining nostalgia as an end unto itself, Haley recombined older musical forms as a means of expressing something deeper and more ambitious, building a carefully conceived picture of the artist's vibrant inner world.

Cyanide Sisters is perhaps even more singular and satisfying now in the context of the Com Truise discography: as the terrestrial starting place, prior to the launch of a space saga (Galactic Melt up through Iteration). The collection's beauty lies somewhere between IDM, '80s synth-pop, Factory Records, classic Italo disco synthesizers, and glitch electronica, soaking its opening title track with thick, damp ambience and a slow, chunky drum-machine groove. Soon, the sound dries off, lightening into a suite of sun-drenched textures and constantly unraveling song structures— a sonic imprint that only grows and blossoms as the album progresses. The vocals that echo throughout Pyragony' bounce from the ethereal to the robotic, always melting into a slow-churned blend of melodic fire and digital molasses. Despite his ever-present melancholy, Com Truise is playful throughout, dusting Norkuy' with disco-ball flecks and putting the top down for the convertible cruise of Space Dust.' The EP closes with Innerfacer,' a trippy synth experiment that revisits the vibe of the release's opener and brings the record full circle. Even in expanded form, Com Truise's Cyanide Sisters EP is a complete work, meticulously conjuring nostalgia for its multifarious influences while filtering them through a modern aesthetic for younger, hungrier ears

With over 30 releases behind and over a decade of running his own label, Jacek Sienkiewicz persistently followed his very own path, creating music that very soon began to be impossible to define.

For the latest release, Dissonant presents the talented Romanian producer Lumieux, from the vibrant thriving Bucharest scene. It's apparent as soon as you listen the two tracks that make up En Kribe Ob EP, why his music stands out with originality and imagination. En Kribe Ob is a richly detailed epic that provides a skillful rising energy to the listener. Organic layers of rhythmic texture create an immersive advanced sound, designed to live and breathe in high-definition. Delicate keys ring out with unbridled emotion, while percussive tones sit in natural harmony with the beautiful melodies and the dynamic groove. In Mirror, Lumieux demonstrates his ability as the drums step fowards and the pressure rises for a thrilling dash through engaging minimal techno. While balancing so many intricate percussion lines, the dub-infused synths add the perfect psychedelic twist throughout the track. Having always been drawn to exciting new artists, Dissonant is very proud to present this release. Lumieux is a producer who belies his youth to deliver a highly developed style that fits in perfectly with the adventurous vision of the label.

Spell PETS backwards to get STEP. Spell STEP forwards and you get PETS going back to basics. STEP is the new vinyl-only label from the founders of PETS - Catz n Dogz - with a focus on the rawest forms and root functions of dance music. STEP searches for the fundamentals with under-the-radar house and techno that's not afraid to be rough around the edges. It's all about the music.

For our next release we have called upon Sideways. Two artists who's relationship with Watergate dates back to the clubs beginning nearly twelve years ago. It was in the early 90's when Marcus Kaye and Lee Ching worked at two of the most influential record shops in the UK resulting in a mutual friendship born out of an eternal hunt for new and exciting music. Soon both were at the forefront of a progressive Drum and Bass movement under their Marcus Intalex and Dj Lee monikers performing on a global scale and contributing some of the most influential music of the genre but never actually collaborating. As Kaye broadened his horizons creating the Trevino alias to critical acclaim and Ching went the mundane route of 9 to 5 normality the duo's still weekly conversations about the nuances of modern house and techno turned into Sideways. Finally, after more than a decade, the two have joined forces to bring us the truly unique and exciting EP, Retraced". Although all the tracks on Retraced' are rooted heavily in a techno aesthetic, they all possess parts spanning across a wide range of genres from drum and bass to deep and soulful house. With the title track Retraced' the two take a euphoric journey laced with rich strings laid over a hefty bassline while Minor Difference' holds no punches and goes straight for the four to the floor approach ripe for the strobe lights on a crowded, dark dance floor. The final cut on the EP is PJ's Groove' and of all the three, it's the throwback. With crisp open hi hats, warm organ stabs and big washed out pads it feels like a trip down memory lane, yet with an updated, modern twist. After more than a decade in the making, we think it's the perfect collaboration for us at Watergate and, we think you will feel the same.

After the timely and well received reissue of 'Upekah' in 2013, son.sine is back with new material for the first time in 15 years on the Delsin label. A maven of slow release, organic dub techno, these new tracks prove son.sine still has plenty to say. Up first, 'A Candle' is a super deep and seductive track with big hits, bouncy drums and rich, rounded synth stabs that hypnotise and warm for nine great minutes. 'An Island' is then a more heady and atmospheric track with propulsive, lumpy percussion, vinyl crackle and textural static that sooths the brain and lowers you into a more reflective state of mind. Finally, 'A Room' is the most techno of the lot - with wobbly synths, clacking drums and lots of horizontal pads it rolls on and on, deeper and deeper as distant pads evolve from feeling rueful to the edge of unease. It's a masterclass in tension and long form dub music that proves son.sine should have never gone away in the first place.

From its inception in the early 1990's, Tech House was, in its simplest form, the combination of Techno & House - at that time two very different scenes.

From there, its journey led to a diverse set of interpretations, twisting Progressive House into more experimental waters, adding fuel to San Fransisco's West Coast House scene, Europe's fledgling Minimal scene, alongside soundtracking London town with seminal underground parties, night clubs, record labels and record stores.

Over the last 20 years its growth and dominance within Dance Music is unquestionable, drawing influence from other genres and reinventing its sound many times over.

This compilation lovingly snapshots three timelines documenting the genre, Way Back When, Then and Now. Tracing the roots and showcasing the many artists that helped shape the sound and continue to push the envelope moving forward.

The album includes an arsenal of previously unavailable tracks, that up until now have only existed on hard to find vinyl, remastered from original DATs, vinyl rips and in some instances completely recreated by the original artists. Way Back When showcases the
early roots in the 90s and 00s.

Then journeys through the next 10 years, leaving Now to document fresh tracks alongside notable classics from the last few years.

Seth Troxler's agenda setting Play It Say It label is back with more summer heat, this time from Detroit based duo Ataxia.
Hailing from Detroit, this pair has recently played the famous Movement Festival in their home city for the fifth time; work with top labels like Nervous Records and Culprit LA and have already impressed with a fine EP on Leftroom this year. Their sound is designed to get the party started, and after already releasing on this label in 2016 they are now back with three more essential tracks.
Up first, the terrific 'Time Original' is a fluid and wriggling tech cut with busy synth lines scurrying about over driving drums. It's dark and freaky with poised chord stabs and the whole thing cannot fail to get floors moving.
Then comes 'Supertouch', which is a superbly slick acid number. Weird bleeps and clipped vocals add an unhinged edge to the urgent rubbery drums and the whole thing is a mind melting number that will take any set to the next level.
Last of all is the vital 'Villains', seven inventive minutes of gurgling bass, alien sound design and wonky synth lines that all warp around each other and melt your mind as they do so. Colourful and full of character thanks to a rapped vocal line, this one is a real party anthem in the making.
Across all three cuts here this talented duo really show off their wide range of studio skills in some style.

I discovered Benoit B through his own label - Banlieue records. He's part of a new breed of young French producers who make music without any hang-ups and that are inspired by the entire history of House and Techno and everything in-between. I liked the combination of club beats with a deep, super melodic approach. The 6 tracks featured here almost make up an entire album that reflects Benoit's skills and sense of production. Everything is here -from Ambient experiments to heavyweight club tracks and beyond. Here, bear witness to the new sound of France (even though he lives in Berlin!)

After the glowing success of Bouffmyhre's first album on Sleaze, we decided to put together a remix EP featuring new mixes of tracks selected from the album. On the A-side, Hans himself has produced a 2014 remake of Fortress, while PoleGroup's Oscar Mulero provides a classy remix of Bring It Back.

Flipping over we have Rebekah's version of Fourteen, which perfectly demonstrates her pounding, dungeon-like style. Italian producer Giorgio Gigli delivers a dark & droning remix of Dominator, to round off this excellent release.

Scott Monteith's 10th Deadbeat album, Walls & Dimensions,is now available through his own BLKRTZ label.

Comprising 8 tracks and featuring vocal contributions from a diverse range of Berlin based artists, as well as for the first time Deadbeat himself, this 10th outing sees Monteith elegantly showcasing his wide ranging musical interests with a striking new sense of gravity and cutting lyricism not seen in his previous works.

A wise old curmudgeon once said that all great art is born of great suffering, and if that sentiment holds true this album has had plenty of fuel for it's proverbial fire.' Says Monteith of the writing process . The last month of 2014 and first half of this year were not kind to me and my family to say the least. Thankfully I was able to turn to music and writing to work through those feelings over the last year, and found some absolutely lovely people to voice them when I wasn't 't up to the task of expressing them myself. '

Leading lady and artistic talent Deniz Kurtel returns to Crosstown Rebels to explore new production sounds, venturing deeper into the realms of dub and beyond with The Fifth House. It's also with huge honour that the release includes a stunning remix from highly sophisticated producer Trevino following his recent passing.

Since her first album Music Watching Over Me was released on Crosstown Rebels back in 2011, Deniz Kurtel has continued to push boundaries creatively through her art and music. Focusing on LED light installation, Deniz has travelled the world with her stunning live show, which incorporates both of her talents. Her second album The Way We Live dropped on Wolf + Lamb in 2012 which received high acclaim. More recent releases have also appeared on Rumors and No.19.

Marcus Julian Kaye is better known by his drum and bass stage name Marcus Intalex, and also his house and techno pseudonym Trevino. He founded the record labels Soul:R, Revolve:R and Birdie which served as a platform for his music with notable recent releases also on the likes Hotflush, The Nothing Special, Aus Music and Klockworks. Such a highly respected figure in the industry, many have been shaken by Marcus' passing and in his honor all profits from his remix will be donated to the charity of his family's choice.

Watergate Affairs is a brand new offering featuring residents, regulars and affiliated artists that have developed close ties to the club through the years. Over the course of four tracks, Jimi Jules, Lee Jones, La Fleur and David Mayer & Sebastian Voigt perfectly display the sound of Watergate. Diving right in is Jimi Jules and he hasn't let lost a step, picking up where he left off with his stellar 'Bogotá EP' earlier this year by churning out a burner. "6%" is rooted in a heaving low end groove while hypnotic tones spiral around a modulating lead that never lands in the same place, ensuring a twisted dance floor venture. Following on the A side we see long time resident Lee Jones at the top of his game with 'Fraction Disco', edited by no other than Metro. Equal parts eerie and sublime, it navigates through a groovy playfulness with deliberate severity by contrasting bouncing percussion with haunting keys creating a tune that feels absolutely massive. Flipping sides, the one and only La Fleur kicks it off in her signature style on 'Waves', effortlessly blending modern design with a classic approach resulting in an unforgettable tune that flawlessly shines at any time and place. Wrapping up the EP is close friends to the club; David Mayer & Sebastian Voigt. 'Voyage One' sees the two plunge deep into the aural wilderness utilizing rich, organic percussives as lush sonic hooks rise and fall spawning a unique excursion into celestial spaces.
