Swedish born Christian Smith is sitting firmly at the top of the electronic dance music industry. His outstanding productions over the years have set the bench mark high, releasing on a collection of the industry's most respected labels such as Drumcode, Cocoon, Bedrock, Minus and his very own Tronic.
2016 has been a busy year so far for Christian, his Tronic label party series has been holding events worldwide, including the BPM Festival and Sonar OFF week, and an ever growing catalogue of releases not forgetting his most recent EP Force Majeure released in July on Drumcode which immediately entered Beatports Techno Top 10, straight in at No.8.
This September, Christian will release his third solo album titled Input-Output on his own Tronic imprint. Consisting of 11 original tracks, each one embodies Christians message of creating real techno, with powerful percussions and melodic basslines throughout. As the first album teaser, he released the first track Blast Off on the 25th July. This track is the definition of a techno builder, steadily rolling and pulsating its way through a rising synth blast that takes you high before dropping you back into the crispy percussive beat. You can expect the second set of exclusive tracks to be released on the 22nd August, with both Subzero (Club Mix) and Explanation.
Input/Output is an outstanding production offering some of the best driving techno you can expect from an artist like Christian, with his trademark style incorporated in every track.
It takes you on a journey, through a variation of sounds and textures, which still manage to cater to everyone's musical palate. Synthesizers work their way throughout, alongside dark atmospheric harmonies and haunting vocals or that pounding kick drum in some of the heavier tracks. It never disappoints!

Genuine emotional house in the vein of his early cassette days, combined with twisted disco loops.

At the beginning of the 1930s, the press magnate Dominique Willem Berretty still held power over the Dutch East Indies. From the very lowest rung, this teacher's son, born 1890, raised a media empire upon a single principle, 'Activity, Activity, Speed'. As a clarion call from the future, it heralded the construction of a new world, one where information was faster than light, where modernity would be celebrated by an ever firmer grip upon the accelerator pedal. But control of his press agency (baptised Aneta, for always number one in spite of everything), driven at full bore, would begin to slip away: politicians no less than his competitors, began to tire of his monopoly. In October 1932, as his empire was fading, he commissioned architect Wolff Schoenmaker to construct the palace of his dreams: the Villa Isola, north of Bandung. D.W. Berretty would have but several months to enjoy his art-deco pearl. On December 20 1934, bankrupt, he would fly to Europe aboard a DC-2 Uiver in order to sell Aneta to the highest bidder. But he was never to complete the voyage: the first flying machine equipped with automatic piloting would crash down upon the town of Ar Rutba in Iraq.

By tracing back through time and his memories (particularly those of a trip to Vietnam), Pilooski - who we've seen in duo as Discodeine and solo, in the Dirty Edits series - would end up pushing open he door to the Villa Isola: a vestibule leading to a double spiral staircase framing a marble pediment engraved with the words M'ISOLO E VIVO (I isolate myself, and live). On the first floor lay a grand semi-circular reception room opening onto French gardens. Before the windows, leather easy chairs arranged with maniac regularity about a round table. On the lid of a grand piano, a virgin in polished glass, and on the walls, oil renditions of Dutch canals jostled with jungle watercolours. One floor up in the constructivist bar, Berretty had installed a film projector. What would he have watched, cocktail in hand, alongside his guests Herbier's The Inhuman Woman, Murnau's Tabu, or Chaplin's City Lights. Who could tell

As a tribute to this projection room, Pilooski has imagined four original soundtracks owing as much to radio broadcasts for insomniacs as they do to recorded recitals for children. With Eden Ahbez's Eden's Island album in mind, he has called upon the following contributors:

Jarvis Cocker (Pulp) has chosen an extract from Carl Gustav Jung's The Red Book; Judah Warsky has written an homage to the sun and the moon ; Narumi Hérisson (Tristesse Contemporaine) reads a passage from Ango Sakaguchi's Sakura No Mori No Makaï No Shita; and writer Simon Liberati (Anthology of Apparitions, Jayne Mansfield 1967, Eva) a fragment from one his 113 Studies of Romantic Literature.

For four exotic and minimalist pieces of spoken word, over which Clément Froissart plays flute, Axel Lecourt, percussion and Julien Vichnievsky the guitar. Together, the pieces make up Isola, the new Pilooski EP.

CASSEGRAIN & TIN MAN are a deadly combination. Old school acid lines programmed by one of the greatest masters in this field meet a super modern techno sound design by Cassegrain, who have made themselves a name in the last years for producing some of the finest in dark and experimental techno. For the follow up to their debut release on KILLEKILL they have put together three tracks that are outstand- ing.
HIGH & LOW is a slowly swelling minimalistic acid epos of over 10 minutes length which proves the mas- tership of Tin Man in programming acid loops of eternal quality. 8 beats length only, but constantly evolving. No chance for boredom. The B-side starts with SEX KIT, a dark acid stomper with a chirping percussion which is well suitable for the peaktime dancefloor, followed by SAND MAZE, a sublte minimalistic ambient acid piece, that winds its way into total dissolution.
We are quite sure that this is the way acid should sound in 2013.

Play It Say It continue to set the worldwide house agenda with another sure to be large release. This latest release is a remix package that finds label boss Seth Troxler and Dino Lenny offer one version, and Classic Music boss Luke Solomon another.
Dino Lenny is an Italian DJ, singer, producer and boss of Fine Human Records who has been on the scene for 20 years. Also signed to Ellum Audio he knows how to cook up eclectic house & techno that brings people together. Doorly, of course, is the global house star who has put out big anthems on the likes of Cajual and Hot Creations. Here their fantastic offering is 'The Magic Room,' a playful track that teases with a discoriff and spoken word musings before lush pianos and hip swinging drums really take over. Some female coos and string stabs later on add real soul, and it doesn't take much to see this one becoming an instant classic thanks to its coy funk and musical charm.
Luke Solomon is a pillar of the UK dance scene with numerous projects to his name, from solo material to his work as Freaks he has a wealth of studio skills and a knack for off kilter grooves. All that is on show here as he flips the track into a breezy disco house roller that soothes your soul and warms your cockles for eight exquisite minutes. Clever loops and filters help add drama and tension to the groove as it builds and builds in increasingly intoxicating ways. When it finally drops it is an authentic party starter that will send hands and fists skyward.

Senso Sounds drop a major release from techno heavyweight Dubfire and label boss Oliver Huntemann. Reuniting the partnership that has seen a string of seminal releases over the years in the form of their 'Elements' series, 'Humano' is the 2nd part of a continuation of this series - more weapons of grade dance-floor material from the high profile duo. Later on this year their partnership will be summarized in their 'Restrospectivo' album. Former Deep Dish man Dubfire's uncanny knowledge of how to create epic dance-floor moments is in full effect, combined with Huntemann's precision tool production techniques on the original version of the title track. The result is a super tough, tight and incalculably driving slice of techno goodness that will ignite floors worldwide. The rest of the EP manages to maintain the pressure - with a set of sick remixes from Victor Ruiz, Hatzler and Shaded. Ruiz, the Brazilian techno pioneer adds another level of fire to the original, tweaking and refining the track into a damager that pushes everything to 11 and hits home with every play. Hatzler, the Hamburg based German DJ/producer chooses a different direction - emphasizing more of the space in the original. Rinsing the tension to the next level, look out for the epic middle section break down. The whole package is primed to destroy clubs far and wide - techno at its most effective. Shaded's Summer Skin remix also delivers a tightly wound interpretation, with a bubbling bass line and nervous, excited groove providing the fuel for an extended dancefloor excursion.

an honest journey, unearthing a serious passion for the
obscure boundaries of house and techno.
'The mix is influenced heavily by how I used to DJ at the
first party I ever promoted, named Seismic, and another
named Monox which was a straight up techno night where
I was a resident from the age of 17. And although it wasn't
my plan, it turned into a kind of tribute to the cities that
really formulated me as a DJ: Detroit, Chicago and Glasgow.

Originally released on vinyl R&S in 1994, 'Meditation Will Manifest' was re-earthed in 2016 by Nina Kraviz and Ricardo Villalobos, becoming a secret weapon on dancefloors 22 years after its original release.
Josh Wink has always been ahead of musical trends and walks his own path in dance music. From a young age Wink was exposed to different mysticism and consciousness philosophies. 'It wasn't a big, popular or trendy thing to do at the time, but I was 14 and just did what my mother did... Releasing tracks like 'Meditation Will Manifest' and 'Higher States of Consciousness', people looked at me as being this deeply profound spiritual guy, but I never really thought about it in that way, even though I'm really into repetitive, transcendental and meditative rhythms. This is pure energy....and energy flash par excellence! 'Drumatic' opens the deeper door to Julien Bracht's world of sounds and beats and appears like a darker dub of the 'Sub Collapsed". We take a deep breath here of all the energy we heard before and enjoy the basic beat style of 'Drumatic". Dark, deep, loud, Julien Bracht has it all for you.

Lucretio returns to crime city disco with a solo Ep containing exactly what he does best, slamming, no-nonsense house music! The EP includes a remix from Marieu with his own trademarked wall-of-sound style. Oh yes!

A year after their impressive last album Burn It Down, Detroit techno legends Octave One are back with a nine track double EP that again shows they are masters of big hypnotic grooves.

Entitled Love by Machine, the album's name is a nod to the fact that the Burden brothers are such revered masters of their hardware. Both in the studio, where they cook up atmospheric house and techno with soaring synths and vocals and also in the live arena, where they are celebrated as one of the most accomplished and forward thinking performers in the game today. That is all the more impressive when you bear in mind they have been active since the '80s, most often releasing on their own 430 West label, which is where they appear again here.

Say Lenny: We've been exploring the theme of connection with this project. How technology gives us the illusion that we are closer to each other more than ever. At some point humanity crossed a line where the devices that we created to bring us together are the same devices that are blocking us from organic experiences.'

Technology is only a tool, which we also had in mind during the recording process.' Adds Lawrence. We decided to go back to how we used to make our records, when we didn't have so many 'sophisticated' audio devices. Back to when we interacted in the studio together as musicians.'

Things open up with the loose metallic percussive line that is In Mono, which sets the machine made tone and is filled with promise. Locator then immediately gets to action with a gallivanting techno kick and various synth lines wrapping round each other as you get sucked into the groove. Just Don't Speak (Midnight Sun Redub) is a more deep and house leaning track with big feel good piano keys and slithering synths that will get hands in the air. Proving they have real range, 7 B4 Dawn is a moody and reserved cut with subtle acid pricks, hip swinging claps and a spaced out dead of night feel.


The second half of the album offers peak time business in the form of the spectacular Bad Love II, the whirring and cosmic Sounds of Jericho and the big loops and fluid grooves of (Where) Time Collides. Pain Pressure is a wonky number with big bassline and a focus on percussive patterns as well as some vocals with real attitude and last cut 8 B4 Dawn ends things in a downbeat and sombre way with sad chords and emotive strings. It is pure Detroit, much like the whole album, and rounds out another fine release from these most revered veterans.

O2 returns to Argot just behind the release of her 3rd album. Pointed at dancefloors while simultaneously speaking to her songwriting capabilities, w/the A being smooth & spacey, & the B at first pensive, before flowering into a floor filler.

Chicago Basement Trax returns with an homage to the king of the raw himself Ron Hardy. Those that experienced Ron Hardy first hand will tell you there was a vibe like no other. A minimal space with strobe lights and a bangin system. If you put your hands on an EQ or isolator as a DJ thank Ron as being an innovator of this creative style of frequency manipulation. Not only did Ron drop the bass, he dropped whole songs to expose the beautiful crispy hi hats, vocals and then romanced you with the piano before slapping your whole body with the beat. This ep does it's job to take you there, just close your eyes and blast off!

The Swindlers return and not a minute too soon as far as we're
concerned! The hardest working duo in house music have had a
mental couple of years playing every club and festival known to
man, having babies, seemingly buying up the entire stock of vintage studio gear off ebay and thankfully knocking out some banging tunes on top of all that. Well all club bangers gratefully received here at Freerange so with open arms and ears we're happy to be bringing you the Figure Of Speech EP.
Just as the non-believers think they know what to expect from these two they've thrown a rather large curveball and headed down a different road. Figure Of Speech wears some African influences on its sleeve with a bumping party groove punctuated by some nifty afro beat keys stabs and just a hint of acid. Victoria's Secret treads more familiar Detroit Swindle territory with the boys trademark shuffling beats and larger-than-life side-chained pads bringing the drama. Finally, we have suitably titled Live At The Cosmic Carnival where we're treated to some peaktime tribal business with rolling bass, dubbed out dancehall science and some nifty conga work. All in all, some fiyah for the dancefloor from a pair of lads who know a thing or two about how to get a room jumping.

Damian Lazarus signs another classic from the enigmatic DrumTalk, a revered producer who brings in the sublime singing talents of Josa Peit, signed to Brandt Brauer Frick's label for the invigorating and anthemic 'Lose Again'.

Championed by Gilles Peterson, Seth Troxler, Midland & Huxley of late and attracting a large, loyal and diverse following from James Holden and Skream, 'Wildcard' shows DrumTalk's sinister sneer, a techno weapon shooting to kill. 'Gamma' makes playful experiments with sounds to great effect, a unique and eloquent record that sways with grace.

DrumTalk is an East London-based producer and DJ. Inspiration comes via the musical lineage of London, Chicago, New York and Detroit, Lagos and Accra. Elements of house, techno, bass culture and the rhythms of West Africa and the Caribbean are all to be found here. His productions and remixes for More Music, Sofrito, Soundway, Get Me! and Huntleys & Palmers have been making an impact far and wide, garnering the attention and support of DJs such as James Holden, Jackmaster, Gilles Peterson and Skream, amongst a host of others.

Josa Peit is a Berlin-based singer and musician. Her debut EP is released on Brandt Brauer Frick's label The Gym Records.

t's no secret Jimi Jules is an integral part of the Watergate crew since he is a regular fixture at both the club and our international showcases. As well as being a core artist on our very own W-Agency we are extremely proud and excited to say we can now include him as part of the Watergate Records roster. When it comes to debuts, it doesn't get any better than Jimi's 'Bogotá' EP and over the course of three tracks, he showcases his best work to date. Kicking things off with massive, rolling low end and swirling tones is 'Hundeblick'. It's a trippy, big room burner bursting with tension. With long siren-like amplifications swelling relentlessly, 'Hundleblick' surges until it finally crescendos into an obscure yet hauntingly smooth voice. Next up is the twisted tune 'Modulation' and by relying on just a few integral elements and an insanely infectious groove, the key to this one is in the title. Modulating bleeps, blips and a steady chant of the word 'modulation' create a constantly evolving narrative always held together with expertly crafted percussion. Finally, rounding out the EP is Jimi's most passionate tune of the group, same name as the EP, 'Bogotá'. Layers of harmony, silky guitars and field recordings combine with hints of jazz influence resulting in a perfect tune for serenading the most intimate dance floor moments. As a whole the EP has been perfectly crafted to provide the definitive tune for any dance floor moment no matter the situation. Compliments to Jimi Jules on an incredible opener and enjoy the ride that is 'Bogotá'.

It's been more than a year and a half since 'Life About To Change' and the anticipation has been almost unbearable, but the long wait is over as Marco Resmann is finally back on Watergate with his brand new 'Run EP'. Over the course of three tracks Marco displays his production prowess and once again solidifies himself as a creator at the peak of his career. The EP begins with the title track 'Run' and it's a perfectly executed techno anthem bridging an unrelenting drum line with crisp stabs and euphoric blasts of spaced out synths. 'Run' will flawlessly fit into any mood or setting, whether it be a sun soaked open air or a strobe filled, sweaty warehouse. Following the lead on the b-side is 'Hello Again' and it unveils itself to the sounds of singing birds before slowly morphing into a palette of synthetic electronics. As 'Hello Again' grows larger in intensity the more wild it becomes. What almost seems at one point to be a clashing of wild sonic blares reluctantly falls back into a cascade of organic percussion before once again rising to a crescendo of critical mass. Bringing the EP to an epic close is the magnificently executed 'Es Vedra' and it is by far the most emotional ride of the package. Lush pads and cosmic flutters are laid over an pulsing groove expertly combining two polar opposites resulting in an intoxicating journey through a lucid dream. Overall, 'Run' is a gem of dance floor integrity finely curated by a man who is a master of combining new, avant-garde sounds with a classic procedure. It's good to have you back, Marco!

We were very happy to be asked by Connaisseur
Recordings if they could put out another album with our
music! Now it's all come together and they've asked us to
do our own press release for it and quite like the album,
we want to do it in our own way, personal and from the
heart. It's been a few years since our last Connaisseur album, and
a lot has happened since. We've built a new studio,
matured musically, acquired new gear, sold old gear, done a
lot of gigs, lost faith in music and regained it again.
The process of making The Loneliest Man In Space (this
album) was a genuinely pleasant experience, as we never
really set out to make an album at all. We didn't
conceptualize or have any grandiose plans, we simply
enjoyed ourselves in the studio.
Inspiration was running high, so we focused on making a lot
of music uninterrupted, rather than signing tracks, which
left us with quite a bulk of unsigned material. The idea to
release these tracks as an album came from our friend
Alex, at Connaisseur. We instantly jumped on the idea,
listened through the material, taking some tracks out and
composing a few new ones, to make it sit more together as
a whole. We tried to come up with a title that would ft
the feeling of the sum of tracks and settled on The
Loneliest Man In Space. As the album, to our ears, sounds a
little melancholic and a little spacey.
We sincerely hope that you enjoy the album either as a
listening experience, a dance experience or something in
between!

Petar's first solo EP since his critically acclaimed album earlier this year on Music Man. 5 star reviews from Adam Beyer, Reinier Zonneveld, Gregor Tresher, Guy J, Kolsch, Max Cooper and many more. Falling In was theme-tune to this year's Loveland Festival with Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin, Alan Fitzpatrick and Matador headlining. Falling In featured in the highlights video of the festival. We will make sure our large network of followers built up over 20 years of promoting club nights and festivals will know about the vinyl.
The latest in a series of quality releases from Loveland Recordings comes from Neumatik studios in Zagreb, Croatia where Petar Dundov recorded the lush collection of tunes known as Falling In EP. Petar Dundov is known as an artist who makes you re-think musical boundaries. His EP dances from the emotional warm sounds of 'Falling In' to the trippy synths and echoes of 'Entangled' and the spacey bass and vocoders of 'Mind Must Be Free' without ever getting hung up on the clichés of any one genre.

Our next release is coming from Phil Evans. Phil is also part of the new generation of Dj's and producers that are hailing from the Rhein-Main area around Frankfurt. Together with his best mate Markus Sommer he is running the label Pager records. He caught our attention already a while ago and so we were quite happy to receive the tracks for this EP from him. He has a lot of personality in his productions already and his musical range is also quite large going from Hip Hop to house, but also more stripped down stuff or Chicago house references can be found in his music selection and influences. Besides that he is a lovely and very sympathetic young man and so it is definitely worth keeping an eye on him, because he is on fire.

Elegant, melancholic, sometimes menacing, with smoldering piano melodies, desolately whistling organs, and a jaunty jaw's harp loop; kissed by the golden Californian sun, or shrouded in gloomy, dreary fog: Sophia Kennedy is currently the most versatile composer in German pop music - not to mention the greatest singer. Her debut album "Sophia Kennedy" reveals her as a dramatic romanti-cist and distanced diseuse, as a deft lyricist and master of melody. In her eleven songs, she travels from doo-wop to dubstep, from classic crooning to breathless R'n'B, from Frank Sinatra to Beyoncé. Her talent for songwriting is deeply rooted in history, yet it seeks nothing but the present: both historically versed and timelessly beautiful at the same time. All tracks have been produced by Sophia Kennedy and Mense Reents (who is known as being a member of Die Vögel, Egoexpress, Die Goldenen Zitronen).

Panorama Bar regular Bwana unites his dual loves of vintage '90s electro and classic progressive trance on this three track EP for Dusky's 17 Steps label. Achieving widespread critical acclaim with last year's techno homage to the Akira soundtrack - 'Capsules Pride' - on LuckyMe, Bwana has since released EPs on his club ready home Aus and Fort Romeau's Cin Cin, as well as appearing on 17 Steps with a cult remix of Dusky's 'Ingrid Is a Hybrid' - itself something of a Panorama Bar favourite.
On this EP, the illustrious producer presents three contrasting but cohesive tracks in the dark acidic 'Three Way Is The Hard Way', hypnotic dark trance builder 'Hell Is Other Robots' and classic electro homage 'On Patrol For Their Control'. Completing the package, the inimitable Avalon Emerson bends 'Three Way Is The Hard Way' into a glitchy, percussive groover that builds crunchy layers of dark drums around the original's twisted sonics.

Lighthearted and aqua-marine house grooves from Canadian producer Jayda G with a fun 12' comprised of two originals and two reworkings of the track 'Girl Music' from Montreal duo Cafe Lanai. Created during the spring/summertime of 2016, Sixth Spirit is infused with a sense of warmth and carefreeness based on current experiences, looped back into nostalgias of her first field season as a young scientist in Ontario.The Canadian forests breathe through these songs. The movement and groove emulate the sense of curiosity and learning that she experienced during that earlier time. 'That field season was an adventure I'll never forget.
