For his second EP as solo producer, Melokolektiv reveals three original bangers, with the first two exploring his techno side and the final track swinging more towards tech house.

Aptly entitled, the opening track Petrichor' evokes a rainy atmosphere by way of an acid infused zippy lead. With a steady, neutral groove, the track doesn't take the spotlight, but just seems to prepare the listener for the following offering. Despite popping up second in line, title track Virgo' is definitely the centerpiece of the release. With a full on submersed groove, stripped production and heavy bassline, its hypnotic groove is engaging while the punchy kicks lock it down.

Instilling a dystopian atmosphere by layering grave and ascending synths, Second Fall' is a tightly wound up piece. The tension slowly subdues after the breakdown but the overall mood remains compact, revealing an undulating percussion. All in all, a step into production maturity and an upturn from the French soundshaper.

Off the back of an impressive 2014, Disc Over Music kicked off 2015 with an EP from their label boss Tim Green, 'We Thought'. A four track EP featuring two TG originals and two remixes, one from the highly talented Borrowed Identity and a digital bonus remix courtesy of London born producer Reber. Reber now returns to Disc Over Music for his first ever release, and becomes a solid member to the label family with his highly anticipated 'Half An Hour' EP. Two original tracks are married perfectly with two remixes, both from another London based artist, Rich NxT from the Fuse london crew, with one remix as a digital bonus. This is an EP which fits the ever growing reputation of Disc Over Music, showing once again Tim Green's ear for raw and memorable production talent - something Reber has in abundance. The EP kicks of with 'Mr. Dee', a track which sets the scene for the whole EP perfectly. A cool groove and confident, resonating bassline immediately encourages us, soon allying with pulsating waves and echoing, comforting vocals. As all the aspects of the track come together, the vocals become more prominent and take control for the main drop down, until the bassline again shows us its power, a pattern which occurs several times throughout the amazing 7 minute journey. 'Eixam' continues the trend, a wrestle between bassline, percussive pads, Hi-Hats and at first, chilling laughs, followed later by much deeper and more engulfing vocals. The EP is immediately quickened as we witness 'Rich NxT Rendition No. 1' of the original 'Mr. Dee'. Vocals are chopped, becoming more a supporting act as the bassline rolls along, seeming to gather pace throughout. That speed is kept throughout the digital bonus remix, 'Rich NxT Rendition No. 3', again of 'Mr Dee'. A track and rework which keeps our interest and enjoyment in this intriguing EP for 6 minutes more.The ever growing reputation of Disc Over Music has been one to enjoy, this EP is no different. Reberreturns to show his full potential whilst Rich NxT shows that with creativity and talent, change is good. The protagonists of the Hot City Orchestra a.k.a. Einzelkind & Simon Birkenfeld don't need much of an introduction. Since 1998, the duo has been well known for widely acclaimed productions such as The Observatory for Infuse lately. THE NINE combines skillful composition with intricate vocals. A true headscrew so versatile that it can be integrated into the set at any part. Minimalistic trippy techno, right to the point. ARAS labelhead André Galluzzi seamlessly continues as uncompromising as in his prior release Mario on Cocoon Recordings. Up next on 20/20 Vision we welcome the ever-diverse and evolving Nathan Jonson. Following a decade of producing and DJ'ing as Hrdvsion, Nathan has stepped out under his birth name to mark a new stage in his career. Cross Colours is a perfect representation of this new stage, a hybrid of all the styles he has become renowned for.
When we heard Cross Colours we were all in agreement that Luke Vibert would be the perfect remixer. Luckily Luke agreed too and turned in a killer take on the original, flirting with early rave and hardcore whilst keeping the electro aesthetic.
The B side is rounded off with a club focused version from Ralph Lawson & Rui-Z (which has already being championed by Seth Troxler on his most recent Essential Mix) and a dark techno rework from exciting new 20/20 signing Dokta, who you can expect to hear a lot more from this year.

Next up on Titanic city, needs no introduction, Nigel Rogers AKA Perseus Traxx has been a staple part on most record bags, a man dedicated to performance outside the box, has produced one of the greatest releases we will surely drop all year.
Some kind comments in our direction had to surly be returned with a request for a release and did he deliver. Nigel's first question was "what do you like" "well we love your M>O>S, Bunker, Photic Fields, Snuff Trax. material," he returned with a little bit of all. I'm not gonna give the whole soaring pads, scraping percussive smears or the frenzied synth lines. This is Perseus Traxx he always delivers!!
There's a rough and raw DIY feel to this music that makes it jump out of the speakers and arrest your attention, as is always the case with Titanic City.

Hedonism is an ethical theory that pleasure, in a sense of satisfaction of desires, is the highest good and proper aim of human life, and this seems to also be HDNSM's ultimate musical objective. Their first release debuted as a kickstarter of Variant EP' V.A. series, showcasing three very different yet highly contemplative creations from Cumsecade, Anestie Gomez and Man Spider.

HDNSM flips the coin and for the second episode of Variant' series it lands on two very solid, incredibly moody and extensive works from fresh talents Shcaa and Cleymoore. The EP features two very different tracks yet they share the same minimalistic core. Both works are blessed with intricate micro-drum arrangements for those feeling groove hungry whilst still standing tall in the experimental abstract realm pleasing those who crave unusual frequencies.

A-side's Masquée' is one of Shcaa's typical rides between sound and silence and it is hard to find another artist who understands sound gaps between grooves better than Shcaa does. With his signature vocals and an incredibly delicious duality between acoustic instrumentalism and electronic slamming, this is a groovy, highly deep, very intelligently arranged piece.

The flip-side Nebula', signed by Pluie/Noir's boss Cleymoore, is a tip of an iceberg when it comes to the art of stripping down. In an apparently thin canvas of minimal drum arrangements there's a vast amount of sound frequencies underneath a steady ever-kicking groove, tricking your mind into thinking that you're hearing less than you actually perceive. Nebula is hypnotic and dense but focused and sophisticatedly groovy. Like the repetitive vocals you'll hear throughout the B-side, this V.A. sticks to your mind like an addiction of some sort and pushes HDNSM to a new standard of avant-garde and forward-thinking attitude.

As before, this vinyl only release comes in a gorgeous cover featuring a painting from Max Binski and the number of copies available is limited.

Catz 'N Dogz continue to roll out their PETS sub label STEP Recordings and follow up a slew of soulheavy dance records from Baltra, Reno Wurzbacher and The Analog Roland Orchestra with a solo EP from fellow Polish producer Universo. With previous appearances on Transatlantyk, the auspicious newcomer slots neatly into the STEP catalogue in presenting his 'Underworld' EP: a package of softly glowing lo-fi that fans of Baltra's recent 'Sophia' EP on STEP will relish. Underworld then unfolds at a steady, hypnotic pace as moody, interlocking chords and paired up with a gentle spoken vocal that work together to create a poignant, eyes-down mood. Icy strings and a trippy spoken are introduced before 'Kora Buta' follows up with some warm, swooning sample work. 'Sleeper' is next up as distant, meandering thumb pianos and rainy textures colour the tracks fuzzy drums while a glassy, Legowelt-esque pad glides overhead.'Frequenza' kicks things off a soft, sizzling pad sent ducking under a rock-hard kick drum.

Please make room in your record collection for more stupid stuff from Sweden's third biggest city, home of great falafel and bad clubs. Our fat friend from Moss, Norge takes some parts from Shakarchi & Stranéus eternal 2013 hit single 'Either Way' (GEO 005) and turns it into a dreamy cheese-pop track ready for full, half-full and really empty dance floors. On the flip side the Burg' teams up with underground Finnish talent Stiletti Ana for a literal take on the SNL quote 'more cowbell'. Please play it loud. For the third side of this single record release, Burga' Fett flangs it out with a US style bonus beats, strictly for the DJs! With this, you can play our record with an even nicer record on top! BOOGIE NITE debuts on GLENVIEW RECORDS after his fantastic 12" "EARTH TO MICKEY" on LUMBERJACKS IN HELL a few months back. These four original tracks, "SHINE", "GOTTA ALOT OF STATIC", "THE HAPPY SONG" and "RUNNIN" were all recorded at BOOGIE NITE URBAN LEGENDZ STUDIO in Chicago.

Boris Werner returns with 'Daymare Dreamer EP' featuring collaborations with noisemaker 'Gretz & Rival of Mars' as well as 'Cinema Royale' and two fresh solo tracks 'Dance of the Hump Back Whale' and 'Frustration (No Strings Attached'). This EP by Werner, known for his infamous 23 hour DJ set in Amsterdam, kicks off with the title tune 'Daymare Dreamer' riding it's way in at 7min40secs in total for a breezy welcome of classic Werner style house beats. This opening track bubbles with roots influence that fans will be familiar with as well as some slick vocal slices drifting in and out. Having previously realised mixes and podcasts alongside the likes of beat creators and funky jammers such as Dj Buck, Lazare Hoche & Malin Génie, William Djoko, and Dj Deeon this new release comes after many live shows and events including his live set from an old wine bodega. His summer calendar is booked up with international tour dates at some of the most spot on locales for dance floor showdowns. This wealth of tour experiences, inspiration and excitement can be felt from the jazzy Dance of the Hump Back Whale' through to the funky pulsations of 'Frustration (No Strings Attached). 'King Hassan a track created with 'Cinema Royale' features superb 80s style house/electro cow-bell samples, mysterious murky baselines and forward motion keyboard funk.

In their most furious release to date, Blank Code presents the Strumpet EP. Kicking off with the distorted dirty stomp of the Original Mix, Drumcell and Material Object let loose this dark gem that thunders forth the forgotten language of noise. Crowned with explosive hi hats, Strumpet seems to tear through any speaker it touches.

The brooding Drumcell 'Desolate remix' begins with a paranoid modular synth line looping over a crisp kick drum that hits on every other beat, slowly obscured by hovering atmospheres. As the track progresses, the grotesque snarl from the original mix growls along at a slow pace as the main synth loop perpetually modulates, occasionally usurped by distorted guitar like wails.

Material Object's "Remix" gradually constructs the static smeared framework ex nihilo, building from a warm and empty beat into a screaming fistfight banger. By contrast, Brendon Moeller's "Echologist Trick" enters with a patiently subdued broken beat that struts a certain swagger with its crushing low bass. The track sulks along with a seductive deepness, occasionally flaring out with the artists' signature use of echoing delay and reverb.

What is 'Come Easy' about
High Heels Breaker: - I wanted to write a soulful and electronic song with the idea to leave it as empty as possible by using the minimum of music notes and rhythms. Nowadays we are massivly flooded with (social media) data that I prefer airy and empty music.'

How did the collaboration with singer Sarah Palin come about
High Heels Breaker: 'Zurich's music scene is not that big. We know each other from the cooperation with swiss rapper Big Zis and met throigh my mate Sacha Winkler aka Kalabrese. I called her on a monday morning and asked her, if she's in and if she could write some lyrics in the next 1-2 months. I sent her the track, she agreed and the following friday the vocals were recorded. During the recording session I got goose bumps, her lyrics about an unwanted breakup is just touching.'

Renowned producers and DJs like Dave Aju (label buddy of Nicolas Jaar), David August and Kalabrese just did remixes for Come Easy. Were they inspired rather from the music or the lyrics
High Heels Breaker: 'I think, the song is good, because music, lyrics and vocals are merging. They all felt the universal pain, the reduced instrumentation and of course the soul in it. That's why they were easily convinced of doing a remix...'

Berlin's own Marco Haas aka T.RAUMSCHMIERE made an irreparable impression globally in the 00's as a sawtoothed, ANTI-rave radical thanks to his immense stage antics and larger-than-life releases on Novamute. Since then, Haas has established himself as a contemporary with emotive, dark ambient tales on his own imprints Shitkatapult/Albumlabel.
KOMPAKT's love affair with Haas goes back to our earliest days. Some of his first tracks were released on KOMPAKT in the form of two raw EP's entitled "Bolzplatz" (KOM021 - 2000) and "Musick" (KOM037 2001). These two formative releases elevated the "Schaffel" sound to raw and shameless places we never could have imagined. The results set a tidal wave in motion that to this day remains one of KOMPAKT's most infamous legacies.
In an off-chance reunion with Haas in his studio, we learnt about what he'd been doing since the "Monstertruckdriver" days. It turned out he's been ever so busy outside of the mainstream working with the likes of Dieter Meier of Yello, Caspar Brötzmann, Andreas Dorau, Fraktus, Ofrin or Barbara Morgenstern and his recent work with Ulli Bomans aka Schieres under the SHRUBBN!! monicker.

On the way out, he passed over his 2015 self-titled album - which proceeded to blow our minds. It was mutually decided that it's time for him to return home.
May 19, 2017, will see KOMPAKT releasing T.RAUMSCHMIERE's new, epic solo full-length HEIMAT. It presents another side of his work which was always there, but never got that much airtime: the artist, the author, the composer with the crystal-clear sound. HEIMAT is a stunning techno album that neither excludes Ambient, nor gets reduced to constant ass kicking. It's perhaps the best recording so far from this man who asks so deeply, so extensively, so much. And at some point even answers.

Rekids introduces a new vinyl only series titled Rekids Special Projects. A more techno orientated division of the label that will feature appearances from the likes of John Hester, Markus Suckut, and DJ Deep amongst others.

First up is Ohio-based producer FBK, real name Kevin M. Kennedy, who has a career spanning three decades and after a seminal release on Frictional Recordings back in the 90's recent releases have seen him appear on labels such as Marcel Dettmann Records, Barba Records and diametric.

Intricate drums and jagged synths initiate 'You Are Not Fixed' whilst a looped sample recurs throughout the mix. 'Dynamonium' then enters deeper territories as echoing stabs join a low slung meandering groove before 'Set It Free' ups the energy with rumbling kicks, distorted vocal murmurs and tantalizing melodies. 'The Final Escape' then closes the release with a syncopated drum arrangement, mesmerising chords and ethereal atmospherics.

Gonzo-Gonzo's versatility as a performer on the dancefloor is a trait just as easy to recognize here on the offering of his Collage EP, a release encasing two original tracks complimented by reworks. Collage kicks in with a punchy bassline from the get go, captivating earwaves while setting the tone for a highly dynamic, glittery disco infused piece.
The vocals progressively step in, with guitar loops and high pitched voices as centerpieces, adding up to a high strung sequence with major dance appeal.
Bringing in a dose of earthiness, Till Von Sein jumps in on the rework, setting things off with a stripped down bassline and subdued groove. Tribal drums entwine with metallic percussion in a reinterpretation that keeps the exotic flavour of the original
while turning it into its own rolling groove rush.
We're greeted with a hard-hitting set of basses thumping in as Cuidado opens up. Seamlessly blending the lead synth into the vocal sample, the Danzón Pérez chief adds layer upon layer, building up an uplifting melody.
Taking cues from the initial groove, but instilling a more mellow ambiance, Franck Roger puts forth an equally cheerful rendition of Cuidado with an
added dose of bass to round off the release.

New York's Sheik N Beik continue to assert themselves as a trusted outlet of chilly, understated Techno following up releases from Xamiga, Keita Sano and Hermans with a VA from family members IVVY, Mr Dello, OG AG and Ray Rose.
First up is Mr Dello with 'Pilgrims' - a bold march that propels few finely crafted elements with deft usage of warped analogue FX. Intensity snowballs throughout as metallic synths thicken before OG AG aka Andrew Grant follows up with '410 Prospect' - an intergalactic transmission rich with bending synth lines.
One half of Dirk Largo, Ray Rose then casts his eyes down in following up with tight, shuffling drums and buoyant synth tones all suffused with a healthy dose of dub before IVVY - a fresh alias from Madison Levine. Originating from Seattle's burgeoning hardware scene, he offers up 'Shape Speed' - a languid, capacious groove that drives thick drums through dense and dubby textures that round off a solid addition to a catalogue continuing to go from strength to strength.

The anonymous label Lossless go one better with the follow-up to the first release. Our Irish friend The Drifter liked the original so much that he did a remix on his own which is already a big hit everywhere we drop it. Modern housemusic in perfection! Kristian

JOHN HECKLE is back on MATHEMATICS with this 4 track EP. Bringing back some serious textures and sequence in sonic mentalism. Reminiscent of laidback SPENCER KINSEY (GEMINI) or early DERRICK CARTER in his Red Nail days. "It's a Chicago thang don't be confused or afraid."

Four Thirty Two, the new record label directed and curated by Richy Ahmed, reveals its second release this Spring with a fantastic new single from Luca Cazal. Out on vinyl & digital in April, 'Be Alone' is backed with collaboration with Italian producer, Andrea Fiorito.
Cazal has previously released music on Crosstown Rebels, Classic Music Company and his own See Double label, and once again displays his house music credentials on this Four Thirty Two release.
