Following on from three volumes of well received vinyl releases, Rory Phillips' 'Mixed Fortunes' singles series returns for a fourth outing.
Opening track 'Tunnel Vision' is a chugging synth disco odyssey, taking in the hallmarks of Phillips's remixes, analogue arpeggios alongside the thump of a live rhythm section.
On the flip is 'Silicon Island' a machine driven collaboration with Night Slugs main man L-Vis 1990, which opens with a low slung 80s synth bass and crunchy claps before giving way to a wild sequencer jam.
DJ Support for the series has come from right across the board: Including, Erol Alkan, 2ManyDJs, The Chemical Brothers, Aeroplane, Prins Thomas, Brodinski, Headman, The Magician, Daniel Avery, Andrew Weatherall, Danny Daze, Mighty Mouse, Classixx, Punks Jump Up, Joakim, and Jacques Renault.

Named to reflect the stylistic range of the series, Mixed Fortunes channels the same spirit of musical adventure heard in both Phillips's remix work and in his genre-hopping DJ sets, with tracks both by Phillips alone in his well stocked analogue studio alongside some undertaken with a range of top secret collaborators while staying true to Rory's trademark sound, which he has showcased across Europe, Asia, the USA and South America this year alone.

DJ Rahaan features twice on the sixth edition of the Grimy Edits series, supplying his own edit and a collaborative piece with Zernell. Rahaan's first edit, "Rebound", booms with beats, as hands to the ceiling vocals wail above a grooving bass and slicing hats. His second edit, "What!", this time with Zernell, falls somewhere between a disco-mashed version of Myles Davis, Shaft and something from a Guy Ritchie soundtrack. Tim McAllister drops the third and final edit in "I Need Help!" employing James Brown's funkadelics to a horn stabby and danceable jam.

40 Thieves are back with a brand new mid tempo instrumental mover for Leng Records. This single sided 10' picture disc is available as a limited edition release (300) for Record Store Day 2013
'In Your Space' is a cosmic jam that kicks over a funk filled bass line and heavy guitar licks brought together with some added cow bell and squelchy space efx.

Limited reissue for this fantastic in-demand disco cover of The Police's 'Voices Inside My Head'. Originally released on NYC label BC Records in 1980, this version became a staple on the NYC scene back in the day receiving heavy rotation at both the Paradise Garage and Mancuso's Loft, and its druggy hypnotic take on the Sting-penned classic still packs floors today with a superb chugging slo-mo aesthetic, moody strings, dreamy vocals and ultra-funky bass. Essential 12' - don't miss!

Maybe the most visceral beauty of John Camp's music is how easily he moves you into the heart of it. Take, for example, 'All You Gotta Do,' a track that opens, sparsely - promisingly - with vibes atop a beat. In perfect time, Camp sets up a funk-heavy bassline that effectively drops the song down a level, making it a more muscular and, suddenly, fully formed track. A minute in, handclaps, glinting key dust, more funk-infused keys and rich vocals from guest singer Mr. Reed bring the song effectively to life. It's the pitch perfect intro to a recording that blends funk, R&B and a relaxed warmth into smoothly rendered, body shifting music.

What Camp does on that intro track, he somehow manages throughout this remarkably consistent, cohesive and satisfying debut release. The follow up, 'Micrhodesia,' reveals his ability to lightly touch upon jazz and quiet storm in his own deft way, distilling hints of '80s Herbie Hancock and late night R&B radio into a lustrous funk. 'Credit Default Swap,' is the most energetic track here, a song that straddles old and new without ever losing its footing. Even when Camp nudges the track's exuberance, the music still feels like it maintains an effortless cool. The closer, 'Uh Huh,' is a more laid back take, with deep-down bass and singer Mr. Reed guiding the soulful flow.

Though this is Camp's debut solo release and first offering on HAKT Recordings, listeners have heard from him before. Last year, he was featured on No Regular Play's debut album, Endangered Species, out on Wolf + Lamb. He also appeared on the track 'No More Time,' along with collaborator Michael Christopher, from the Zurich-based Cityfox label. And in April 2012, he was featured on a track from Double Standard Records, the vinyl-only imprint from Wolf + Lamb's Gadi Mizrahi.

inspired by the book. Think of this album as a soundtrack to be played while you read Stephenson's story of swordplay, virtual reality,
hacking, and cybernetic nuclear powered attack dogs. Snow Crash the album makes musical allusions to the work of artists like
Vangelis, Cevin Key, and the early 90s Third Mind Records. Harris' album is mood music, that moves between being contemplative

called Booty Groove. The title kind off reveals where he's coming from as Jefferson might be unknown for most,
on the streets of Miami he is a bonafide legend. After spending most of his life in shady motels and as a DJ in extravagant
nightclubs, Jefferson finally took out his old DAT tapes and got this track to Kastil through a mutual friend.
All and all, Many Shades of Soul Notes Vol.1 is a peaktime record that is above all meant for clubplay.

Axel Boman and Petter Nordkvist of Sweden's Studio Barnhus momentarily shine a mirror ball onto their usual punch-drunk house for their debut release as Man Tear. A collaboration with vocalist J. Jonason, "Outside Amore" is a trilling slab of spacious disco, the loping drums and chiming synthesizer accents pirouetting in tandem with Jonason's tremulous delivery. The yearning vox of the original are kinetic on their own, but the dub further accosts Jonason with all manner of interplanetary commotion and shards of tambourine.

Even though he didn't invent the concept, Bucharest born and Amsterdam residing, Andrei Idu, or more familiarly, The Legendary 1979 Orchestra has done a good deal of remixes in the previous couple of years. This record showcases his best remixes and dubs. Apart from "Lesson 1 Remix", all tracks are exclusive to this vinyl release.

Starting off the record is the infectious dance-floor filler remix of Odyssey's "Inside Out". The remix was done for the 2011 DJ History Odyssey remix competition. Having received enormous feedback and support, it was about time it saw an official release! The track builds the feel-good instrumental to a vocal chorus driven hands-in-the-air climax. It has been a sure shot secret weapon of The Legendary 1979 Orchestra's DJ sets until now. The second track on the A-side is The Legendary 1979 Orchestra's most successful remix to date. His version of L'Equipe du Son's "Lesson 1" is a warm synth driven piece of the highest quality 80's inspired disco. The percussion and strings fill the track with sentiment. It's been witnessed to melt girls on the dance-floor and make grown men shed tears.

The B-side of the record is reserved for the deeper dubs. First off is an unreleased version of Emeron & Fox's "Dopecity". The Legendary 1979 Orchestra takes the original as inspiration and goes deep with it. "Dopecity Deep Dub" is a journey into emotions and euphoria that would fit wonderfully in those late morning deep house sets. Finishing off the record is a Bonus Beats version of Saint Petersburg Disco Spin Club's "Marwencol". The original and the first TL79O remix of the track were released in early 2011 on the infamous Russian label Shanti. It was actually The Legendary 1979 Orchestra's first official release. The version on the record strips down the remix going even more dub and keeps the ultra-punchy drums in the forefront for some guaranteed head-nodding business.

With each track touching on a different side of underground dance music, this record is a complete guide to the many styles and tastes of The Legendary 1979 Orchestra's compositions. It wouldn't be hard to imagine hearing all four tracks at different times of a perfect club night.

Named in homage to the series of collectable football cards from the 1970s, the Rothmans label follows the inaugural Mario Kempes Release with another long-haired icon being given his dues in the form of The Harald Toni Schumacher Release, complete with another four tracks of chugging techno-disco. Emotional Response's Timothy J Fairplay kicks things off with "Off The Rails", an expectedly dark and tense piece of Carpenter-esque synth, while LWE writer Per Bojsen-Moller delivers the atmospheric techno of "Staying Late", whose rippling analogue bassline gives way to an unexpectedly funky breakdown. On the flip, Steve Cook's "Noah's Arp" takes things a Balearic house direction with its thick, filtered analogue textures adding some psychedelic colour to its mid-tempo grooves, while Emile Strunz's "Magnetic" adds some acid flavour to its low-swung, vocoder saturated Italo swagger.

M1 Sessions #4 features the men behind the scenes of M1 Sessions. Bobby Dolo, (label founder) and Todd Modes have been working together for years as DJ's, Producers, and loft party hosts. Todd brings his own brand of sexy, deep house with a warm, late night vibe. Dolo's side offers a samba-ish chop up of Dr. buzzard's Sunshowers, and a disco edit of tropically groovy proportions."

From the tropics comes Whiskey Disco, a sneaky re-edit label bent on dredging the decanter for diffident dancefloor genius from latent disco perpetrators. It's loosely connected to Sleazy McQueen and his assorted cohorts.Whiskey Disco #18, Cut Me Gently by Beard In Dust comes from behind the iron curtain. On a recent tour of Russia, Sleazy McQueen had the fortune of meeting a friendly Moscovite with an excellent selection of re-edits gathering dust on the hard drive. From the stab-centric "it shouldn't work, but it does" re-edit of Grapevine to the cosmic groover, Revolution In Morder, the straight up boogie of Highest Mountain and the laidback ease of Can't Get Enough-- more than most, this really does offer something for all (groovy)
dancefloors.

A few years ago I took a journey to Europe searching for a new sound.

People along the journey had been telling me about this guy from Tropea, Italy called DJ Steve (named after his favorite musician, Stevie Wonder).
He's a butcher there by day, but at night he's the DJ at a club called Casablanca. I made my way to this tiny town in the south of Italy and found DJ Steve.
His 12 hour DJ sets opened my eyes. This guy was the real deal. He was playing dubplates, vinyl, cassettes, and reel-to-reel's. All special edits he had done over the years.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing.


In late November of 2011 DJ Steve finally made his first visit outside of Italy and came to New York. He came on my Beats In Space radio show and blew everyone away. It was one of the most listened to mixes of the year. While he was in New York, I was able to record in a few of the dubplates of edits he had done. Those recordings are how we arrived at the release of "DJ Steve's Special Cuts" series.
With this release we also started a new sub-label for Beats In Space Records. B.I.S. Records, Inc is for any of the edits or bootlegs we might come across.

The quintessential first album by Gina X Performance. Released in 1978 on various labels including EMI, ''Nice Mover'' has been out of print on vinyl format since 1980. ''Nice Mover'' has been an internationally regarded electro/disco record with various tracks appearing on compilations throughout the years (e.g. Andrew Weatherall's ''Nine O'Clock Drop''). The track ''No G.D.M.'' (a tribute to famous gay actor/writer/personality) was a club hit on both sides of the Atlantic and remains a commonly heard track on better DJ sets to this very day. It is made up of an infectious slow driving disco-esque beat with perfectly aligned and arranged synth accompaniments. Tackling controversial subject matter such as transgenderism, exhibitionism, and other fetishes , this record has left a deep mark on the history of new wave and electro/disco. The title track ''Nice Mover'' is a cosmic sequenced synth hit and also has appeared on various compilations. The bouncing ''Be A Boy'' is a high energy dancefloor cutter that illustrates the internal thought processes and daydreams of a female longing to become a male. ''Black Sheep'' continues this theme and is a very catchy number with bonus sheep sounds to keep it interesting... The closing track ''Tropical Comic Strip'' starts off with peaceful cricket samples and piano and builds into a bombastic production that is a fitting close to the record. Master recordings provided by Zeus B. Held and remastered by Lafayette Masters, Freiburg. This is a seminal work of electro/disco/wave and is essential for fans of late 70's wave-synth-disco crossover and the like. Original reproduction artwork is preserved on the front (one of the best record covers of the entire scene) and back. Presented on high quality 180gram colored vinyl in a limited edition pressing of 1000 hand-numbered copies.

The much loved Balearic Gabba project series returns with yet more classically inclined, beautifully Italo-licked sounds that recall the halcyon days of the Balearic scene almost two decades ago as remixed by disco pin-up Prins Thomas. The man himself was keen to get involved in Balearic Gabba Soundsystem activities and started off with an unofficial edit of the Rusty track here, and eventually it became a proper remix, In light of that, Hell Yeah Rec decided to get two new and exclusive Prins Thomas tracks out of the remix to complete the package, and as you'll hear he completely changed and replayed everything, added some acid and more besides

Welcome aboard Principal Records, who debut with 'In My Mind' by 'thatmanmonkz' (whose recent EP for Tone Control has been making serious waves) affiliated act S&M (feat. Dnaë) - a deep, disco infused house release backed with a remix from Wolf Music's ever in-demand Medlar.
Principal Records is the brainchild of DJ/Producers Rob Fahey and Jeff Daniels, the former having previously released for Under The Shade and the latter a UK-Music industry veteran having held positions with the likes of BMG and Sole Unlimited.
S&M comprises Danimal Swainger (aka Daniel Swain) and Thatmanmonkz (aka Scott Moncrieff) who met in Sheffield's notorious muso drinking hole, Dulo.
Danimal had a history on the 'edits' scene while thatmanmonkz has developed a formidable reputation as Toddla T's cohort in the Small Arms Fiya imprint.

For 'In My Mind' the duo team up with Dnaë, a hugely promising vocalist hailing from Kingston, Jamaica and now based in the steel-city. 'In My Mind' is gentle, rhythmic house with afro-beat overtones and rich, deep house sensibilities. Skittering Percussion sits underneath warm, sliding chord pads while Dnae's vocal work flows beautifully throughout, complimenting the track's infectious bass perfectly.

Medlar, an increasingly in demand artist following strong work for the much-hyped Wolf Music, takes 'In My Mind' into jacking house territory with some classic Roland bass work and nifty drum programming which rough up the original's vocal and piano content.

S&M close the EP with '£4£', a mid-tempo disco-house cut which swings low and loose.

The EFUNK effect continues to echo across the universe as Soul Clap's mantra 'Everybody's Freaky Under Natures Kingdom' summons the Egyptian Lover himself, who revisits 'The Alezby Inn' to deliver his own spin on the Soul Clap cover of his classic electro-funk jam. The Crew Love is in full effect as Nick Monaco, Night Plane and recent Marcy Hotel regular John Camp deliver the magic on more remixes of 'The Alezby Inn', 'Ecstasy' and 'I Need Your Lovin' feat. 90s pop soul singer Mel Blatt. The 2012 debut album 'EFUNK' from Boston duo Soul Clap entered into unchartered territory, blowing apart the "dance" song format with their freaky sleazy surreal antics, 'EFUNK' fused the entirety of Soul Clap's past musical influence with super fresh execution. Here Wolf + Lamb Music further explores the debut by delivering a striking collection of remixes for three of the stand out tracks.

With 'The Alezby Inn' featuring The Genevan Heathen, a cover of legendary westcoast electro don Egyptian Lover, Soul Clap worked it with spaced out futurism whilst staying true to the mischievous charm of the original. In a major coup, Egyptian Lover graces the label as guest remixer of honour, stripping the track back to its bare cowbell funk ridden flex with dubbier undertones. Hyperactive new blood Nick Monaco takes the reigns next with a deep intergalactic voyage over the Milky Way to an Alezby Inn of a parallel dimension.

Wrapping the listener in a breathy, lovers embrace, the B-side features remixes of the Mel Blatt penned 'Ecstasy' and the cover of Corgis classic 'I Need Your Lovin'. Brooklyn based talent John Camp steps up first transforming 'I Need Your Lovin' into a sultry slow jam - shimmering, sexy and flowing over delicately broken beats. Soul Clap Records debut signing Night Plane delivers 'Ecstasy feat. Mel Blatt (Club Mix)' a multitextured sound bed of swirling pads and warped keys against a restrained late night groove plus a sublime digital extra 'Miami Mix' of 'Ecstasy'.

The label will focus on Greg's new Original production's which have an old school slant as you would expect from Mr Wilson.


'Production is something I've wanted to get back to for a number of years (producer once being my primary occupation) and Schooled In The Classics marks the first steps in this direction. I've obviously put together a lot of edits during the last decade, as well as a number of remixes, but I just haven't been able to set aside the time to produce my own tracks since my DJ career reignited, so that aspect of my work has had to go on the backburner. During the past 3 or 4 years I've become increasingly fed up of hearing myself say in interviews that I'm planning to start recording my own stuff again - the intention has been there, and now is the time.'

Spiller is back to his renown disco looping style with a new single featuring Nina Miranda (former singer of Smoke City).

At the end of october a white label pressing of 'Make It Good' caused a stir in club land. The track impressed Gilles Peterson so much that he licenced it right away for his next Brownswood Bubble compilation. ow, finally we have the official release on Sonar Kollektiv hitting the stores. Next to the original version the 12inch is equipped with a remix by veteran Phon.o.The Bristish duo The White Lamp called attention to themselves forthe first time with a release on Futureboogie in April. Now they already produce a masterpiece with 'Make It Good'. A track that works probably in every club of this world. The A side of sampler No2 starts off fresh and up beat with Needwant talent Mario Basanov and his remix of the MotorCitySoul synth villain, 'Playground'. Bonar Bradberry, who is a staple for the Future Disco series, treats us to the previously unreleased and exclusive 'Loose Grip'.
Newcomer Monte begins side B with 'True', a bass infused track that will put a stomp on any dance floor. Then wrapping things up we have Greymatter's 'Tisno', where those balearic vibes will take you to a far off summertime locale.

Following Daphni's exhilarating treatment of "Runnin," the dusty squawk-box psychedelia of Sinkane is again prepared for dance floor omnipresence with a new pair of remixes from Germany's Tuff City Kids and Barker & Baumecker. Running Back label boss Gerd Janson teams with Philip Lauer as Tuff City Kids to create an anxious burble out of "Making Time," squeezing dry Ahmed Gallab's processed guitar histrionics and letting staccato bass get tangled in a maze of refracted synths. For "Warm Spell," Ostgut Ton pillars Barker & Baumecker turn abrupt twitches into a big-room tool, teasing out soft chords over crusty percussion, with Sinkane's weary vocal chasing after itself until exhausted. Both remixes further reveal Sinkane's emotional range, as comfortable on a sweaty dance floor as a sunny beach.

Northern Irish garage/house duo Ric McClelland and Sean Grieve make a guest appearance for NYC's On The Prowl! Some of you might know Ric from Seven Music, NRK, Large Records, Night Drive...etc. Together they join forces for "If You Want / Move Back" with remixes by Giorgio Luceri and Club Silencio, both of whom have had previous releases on OTP (Club Silencio being an alter ego of Robotalco).
"If You Want" gets things moving with a deep house style layered with a big upfront bassline and super lush pads that are straight outta Detroit! Built to please big rooms in the early morning. A2 has Club Silencio showing his remix finesse by adding some organ key stabs in the "Gypsey Women" territory. Proper early 90's house vibes but still maintaining a modern edge.
"Move Back" shifts the mood toward a more disco feel with balaeric style guitars and laid back and groovey bassline. On the remix Luceri adds his music touch while keeping things driving with steady snare fills and old school drums.

Let's Get Lost return to the fold for their first release of 2013. This officially licensed release features the obscure Italian / Brazilian fusion of 'Marimba Do Mar' . This fantastic record is incredibly hard to find and a very expensive gem that's been re issued for your listening pleasure. Japanese artists KZA (Endless Flight) & Cos/Mes (ESP Institute) both turn in outstanding remixes.

Limited 12" release of Tom Trago's take on the obscure boogie banger 'Soul With Milk'. On the flip you'll find the original of Funkin In' Your Mind as featured on the SURINAM! compilation. TIP!
