House Vinyl New Releases - News

Keeping up their ethos of dancefloor "edits with the love left in" HMD bounce back on A1 with monster from their 3rd compilation. Never before released as a 12" and much in demand from DJs who have heard it in HMD sets, its a whole Horse Meat Disco original track laid out underneath the original vocal acapella. Playable peak time or at the end of the night its as deep as disco gets!

On B1 a majestic and imperial take on a classic ONE MORE TIME the HMDers push the way too short original track and lengthen it into a luscious, euphoric anthem. HMD take all responsibility for end of the night spontaneous dancefloor hug-ins.

On B2 the boys have taken the squelchy synths of a real underground track and turned up the intensity that they felt seem to disapated in the original. Keeping the vocals pretty much as they are including all the whoops and yelps that make the track so exciting HMD have stayed true to the original but have just given it the Horse Meat touch. A bit of added percusion and a whole lotta love.

Strange rhythms echo across Todmorden as a small group of local Rhumberos, fuelled on wild rum and crowfoot take inspiration from the "supreme truth".....

"Two places up from Park West, the dusk reflecting off the steel as steam hisses thru the rain, open zones to glide thru in the orange light. Something metal claws at your leg as the sky continues to burn pink"

This is a record about elegance, violence, electricity, water, marble, plants, trenchcoats, oily black jeep windows, crashed motorbikes, parks at twilight, clubs in the dark, broken DX7s and missed phone calls, written and recorded over a hot summer in a cramped flat with neighbours having sex through the walls.

South Londoner Jessie Ware has already cemented herself as one of the freshest talents to emerge from the UK underground. The last couple of years have seen Jessie collaborating with some of the most respected producers on the electronic spectrum. Her eagerly anticipated debut solo single; Strangest Feeling dropped late last year and quickly spread far and wide online, clocked up numerous plays on the airwaves with critics citing her as one of the UKs highest hopes for 2012. Currently working on her debut album with Dave Okumu (The Invisible) the record is set to drop this Summer. Jessie is proud to announce the release of Running on April 2nd through PMR Records. The new track is co-produced by Julio Bashmore and Okumu himself and the 12' includes the Disclosure Remix + Dub

With their 22nd release, Culprit unleash their most narratively and sonically rich EP, courtesy of
one of the genre's unique young voices, jozif. His 'Lady B EP' is a work of intricate conception
that goes well beyond typical dance music themes, instead serving up a personally vivid
and cohesive story. With these five immaculate tracks, Culprit appears closest to fulfilling
their mission statement of delivering music cinematic in its scope, true to their Los Angeles
roots.
'Lady B' chronicles an intimately personal set of experiences for jozif, reflecting a time and
an emotional place with honesty and verve. Adventurous and offbeat, this is a 5-tracker full
of musical influences all jozif's own, well in synch with his unique narrative idea. Full of swelling
strings, dramatic piano flourishes, and guitar melodies rarely found elsewhere in modern
house music, this is a fluid sonic journey with mood changes abound.
Side A begins with the upbeat and excited energy of 'Lady B's Tea', with its forceful yet
organic disco beat and a set of strings producers from the Stax/Philly Sound era would
rejoice for. Although different in mood and feel, the naked soulful urgency of the big piano
chord-driven 'Lady B's Plea' is nonetheless clearly cut from the same sonic cloth - all
crescendos and emotional peaks.
The B-side is the quieter, more melancholy counterpart. It begins with the gorgeously
downbeat 'Lady B's Lullaby' - an original composition Inspired by the melodic feel of The
Cure. Subtle electronic layers underpin a stunning minor key, disembodied pleading vocal
leads into the second melody, the floating mood sustained throughout. The B-side then
glides into the nearly beat-less soundscape of the 'Lady B's Serenade', full of raw strings and
guitars, as if the final coda of a short film soundtrack of jozif's musical mind.
Ever bursting with musical ideas, jozif adds a digital bonus of 'Lady B's Boesen' - a hazy and
Aphex Twin-inspired downtempo collage, with a penchant for growling bass and those
keyboard melodies jozif is quickly becoming known for. Few artists are capable to go
through so many moods and textures in one release, whilst staying firmly grounded in
personal and real experiences, away from the usual abstraction and hedonism. Jozif
accomplishes that feat with the superlative 'Lady B'. jozif will be a key artist for Culprit in
2012, with another full EP or original, more dancefloor-orientated material coming on the
label this summer.

Continuing on from the massive Kon 12" released on Basic Fingers we welcome back our good friend Kok. On the A side Koko delivers a real uplifting feel-good disco/boogie scorcher that will make you wish for those hot summer parties .
Stay With Me by Norman Connors is perhaps not his most known track but we'll guarantee this bad boy will be the prime time number for many DJ's as Koko's really take this track to another level. Soulfulness at its very best! On the B-side Burning Up by Imagination has, since it's release almost 30 years ago ripped up dancefloors all over with it's piano chord hook and a steady bassline. This mix is an updated version with lots more production details and plenty of Koko flavour.
Its already been tried and tested in the Basic Finger kitchen with an exceptional result.

Built For Love is the single that brings the campaign for Kraak & Smaak's third album Electric Hustle to its peak. Previous singles Let's Go Back and Hold Back Love are still mainstays of many charts months after their release and new EP Kraak Beats Vol. 2 is currently held in very high regard as we speak.

Lets Ride is the third artist album by KRAFTY KUTS. On this album KRAFTY has produced 16 tracks with many Featured Vocalists that showcase the many influences of today¹s dance music and show the eclectic side of Krafty Kuts and his world famous DJ sets. Be it hip hop, breaks, Drum and Bass, Rave or Dub step there is something for everyone on this album.

Vibrations are fast gaining a reputation as Britain's finest exponent of vintage-leaning, analogue jack music, and this EP from the mysterious Last Floor Hotel is another winner to add to their list of fine releases. "Track One" opens with a flurry of drum machine driven power accented with acid gurgles and chilling organ chords that recall Legowelt at his finest. "Between Them" meanwhile opens proceedings with a bleep filled intro, with distant Chicago-inspired vintage bass weighting everything down as shady Detroit melodies seep through a lo-fi haze. On the flip, "Ride Me 660" is a sparse and moody acid number with neon, syrup coated bass which adds a heavy atmosphere to the EP. The record is closed out with a remix by none other than Luv Jam, who reworks "Between Them" into an airy Balearic number, with 303 flecks combining with bright melodies and a driving bassline to create the musical equivalent of stepping into a warm bath.

Great Funky House from Paris. Limited to 300 copies. Save your copy!

With Releases On Kompakt , Permanent Vacation, Eskimo and K7, Steve Moore aka Zombi, aka Gianni Rossi, aka Lovelock is since long no real unknown to the Scene.

Rampant crime and outta space violence! Hard kickin' trailblazin' arpaggio four tracker. Comes with full color Milano space invasion picture cover, press sheet and hand numbered labels. Highly collectable release again on the lovely Bordello A Parigi label!

MERC 009 sees another Mark E 2 tracker with SNOW WALKER & ENVIRONMENT.

Snow walker combines an uptempo relentless percussive hard nosed rolling drum rhythm, running parallel with shimmering disco lights, synth blobs and a messed up yeti vocal nag, nestling comfortably somewhere between the black country and the black forest.

Environment however pushes itself all deepness and glory with electronic female vox, looping sub bass boogie and a slow Sasquatch techno sensibility.

Martin Brodin's second single from the forthcoming album which is due for June 2012. It follows the successful Badabing which featured diskJokke as remixer. Strings Attack is all about the strings for disco.

Having previously had their music released on labels including BearFunk,
Is It Balearic, Electric Minds and Under The Shade, the Mushrooms
Project are already well known in the sleazy disco scene.
Italians Giorgio and Marco have been producing their blend of freaky mid
tempo weirdness since 2008 and have always aimed their music straight at
the late night party.
'Fly Away' is their debut release for Leng and, at 16 minutes, is as long as it
is mesmerising with it's lazy afro quality. Full of analog instruments; guitar,
bass, synths and percussive sounds create a dirty but unique window into
the unusual minds of the Mushrooms and has set the standard for their
future releases.
On the B Side, fresh from their recent 10' release for Leng, the 40 Thieves
return with a mix of 'Fly Away' that once again shows they are ones to
watch. Adding more of those warm sounds they up toughen up the beats
for a hypnotic late night dance foor epic.
Look out for long players from both Mushrooms Project and 40 Thieves later
in 2012...

Fully Koded Chicagoians Traxx and Beau Wanzer team up for another Mutant Beat Dance release. Together they have produced arguably 'the best 80s Chicago house record NOT made in the 80s. The Mutants call it Jakbeat, inspired by the early days of house music. TIP!!!
'Let Me Go' is as intense and rhythmically inclined as they come. Naughty Wood's sparse vocals cry desperation, almost nearing insanity, which makes up for a pressure cooker like warehouse anthem.

'Rottonfunk' is another intense work out which has a killer groove and makes us wander off to the Promised Land (wherever that is).

Its delightful to hear that Chicago house music this good still gets made. Surely when it was released way back when, it would fetch top dollars on the interweb.
Authentic stuff!

A new label from some of the decision makers arrives in the shape of Love Interest, promising a release schedule that eschews genres in favour of seeking out international talent that piques their fancy. Minneapolis-based Nyteowl is at the helm for the first release with "Love Of Mine". This clear vinyl twelve inch edition sports two fine remixes from Boy 8 Bit and Mighty Mouse, which naturally take the 80s swagger of the original in differing directions. Boy 8 Bit calls on all his studio trickery with a remix that constantly shifts sonically before dropping into an excellent final detuned synth passage, whilst nu-disco troupe Mighty Mouse are on soaring form, adding some meat to that beat, whilst Nyteowl's vocal hitches a ride on an upwards arpeggio.

Double ten inch pack edition of the debut release from Love Interest, a newly minted label from the Records enclave. Minneapolis based electroboogie crooner Nyteowl has been handed the honour of the debut release with the Prince-leaning "Love Of Mine", and this edition features remixes from both Brassica and Astro Chicken founder Hyboid. Given the nature of their output, both are perfectly placed to tease out the nuances of a 80s referencing electronic soul track and Brassica in particular excels, extracting gleeful new levels of texture out of the synth sounds with a truly twisted remix. Hyboid adopts an outer galactic electro poise reminiscent of his finest output on Astro Chicken, and if vocals aren't your thing, check the B-side of each ten inch slab for instrumental mixes.

Love Interest is a new label-shaped endeavour from some of the decision makers at Records sporting a broad international remit, and they launch in style with a triple format release! The honour of the maiden Love Interest release falls upon Nyteowl, an artist based in Minneapolis and perhaps inspired by that city's most famous son Prince Rogers Nelson. This seven inch picture disc edition contains only the original Nyteowl rendition of "Love Of Mine" - there are some tasty remixes on the other DJ friendly formats - and the track is a deliciously sultry slice of electronic soul with a notably 80s flavour. Check those big drums!

Generic modification in effect here on this 3 tracker from seasoned producer and remixer travelling incognito, hush-hush and strictly on the q.t.

Straight out of East London, Pacific Rim Dubs mix up deep, bumpin' house with soul and boogie, rude acid with funk and fidget grooves with pure disco. In a mash-up style, but without the comedy beats and not a whiff of irony in sight, Pacific Rim Dubs vol1 takes a selection of infectious snippets from the soul/ boogie vaults and blends them into proper house floor fillers.

A Side: 'On The Raz': a deep, bumping house groove with a formidable disco hook. The secret lovechild born out of the fusion of soulful, jackin' house, minimal tech grooves and lush disco loops.

AA side, track one: 'Ain't My Loved One': If ever there was such a thing as Acid Funk, this is it. A long teasing, squelchy acid intro kicks off into a deeply swung, infectious funk groove, topped with a cut-up soul vocal peeking in and out. Getting massive play from Crazy P/Ron Basejam.

AA side, track two: Already getting play from Tom Middleton, Jimpster and charted by Nic Fanciulli, this one has more cowbells than Kerri Chandler and a relentless fidget feel over a rolling disco groove.

Persian returns with 6 tracks of bubbling breakbeat goodness following on from his sell out Feel da' Vibe ep. Kicking
off the A side Persian returns to his roots with a track featuring one of Britain's most legendary Hip Hop artists - Mc Mell'O.
Mell'O' has collaborated and toured with Hip Hop legends such as Jeru the Damaja, NWA, Public Enemy, Cypress Hill, KRS1,
Gangstarr, Queen Latifah, The Jungle Brothers and many more. Without giving away too many clues, the rest of the ep
contains other breakbeat reworks of classic tracks that mean an awful lot to those that know. These tracks are tributes to
their respected originators. In this day of slick over produced copy cat music, it's refreshing to hear the increasingly rare
style of raw, fun, cut and paste music done only for the love of the music.

IS IT BALEARIC continue to provide a steady supply of killer 12's !

Next release from Is It Balearic.. comes courtesy of Basel's nu disco wizards Pharoa Black Magic.

The track Amulet features the vocal talents of Peter Coyle of The Lotus Eaters. This is a mid tempo mellow electronic/Balearic pop groove.
Beautifully produced to create a sublime understated sunshine anthem.

Top drawer remixers are present and correct as always:
Begin takes the original and creates a deep balearic groove with marimbas and soft synth melodies.
Reverso 68 add trademark arpeggios and dance it up a touch whilst original balearic pioneer Steve Proctor rearranges the track into a big chugging acid disco groove.

Pitchben in full effect again. After the massive success of the album and - Stand Up' remixes, which went top 10 at Beatport, and was seen in dozens of DJ playlists, here comes the second remix package of Munich's true disco entrepreneur. Alexander Maier's remix is perhaps one of the best remixes we can offer in the first half of 2012, already recommended as remix of the year by Penner & Muder (Mood Music). The whole Compost team love this remix, too! Ideosyncratic slinky deep house at it's best! Alexander Maier (DJ Allstar) has releases on Buzzin Fly, Moodmusic, BlueFin, Exun or Criminal Records, or remixes made for Mugwump, Ben Watt, Kruse & Nürnberg, Martin Eyerer and others.

The Debut single from the album "Living in Patterns" comes on limited 12" featuring Remixes from two of the most revered house producers on the scene today - Harvey and Moodymann. Both add their unique dancefloor twists to the track and are massive fans of the band. The 12" also includes the bands own "Drums Only" version

Hailing from LA, Pollyn are vocalist Genevieve Artadi, guitarist Anthony Cava, and beat maker/percussionist Adam Jay Weissman. Anthony and Adam met in college while studying creative writing and soon invited Anthony's younger cousin to help them out on vocal duties while they experimented with a sample-based sound.

In 2008, with the release of their debut full length, their music had evolved into a fully fleshed out project, with live percussion, synths and vintage drum machines all incorporated into their signature sound. As cool as it is cozy the delicately arranged, new 9 track record is a step away from the more Portishead-esque efforts of the past: aligning itself with a moodier, funkier, Afrobeat ancestry drawn from elements of Creatures and Talking Heads.

Having spent recent years touring the West Coast with the likes of Little Dragon and Dengue Fever while also releasing remixes of tracks by the likes of Gorillaz and Health, Pollyn are planning to head to our shores this summer for a string of live dates - an exciting prospect considering the trio expand to an eight piece on stage.

Far out (in the best possible meaning) House tunes which contain a good pound of Disco ingredients.

Huge Todd Terje re-edits as always on DM feat the killer disco of Sam-Jam's 'Dance n Chant' the epic electro-funk of Rogue Cat's 'Magic Journey' and finishing with the eclectic and collectable Adam and theAnts

Here we have the third and final installment of Session Victim's Haunted House Of House LP Sampler. Part One has already sold out having hit the top spot on Juno's Best Sellers Chart. Soul Clap declared it Beautifully diverse - best DOG in ages!' dOP, James Teej, Catz n Dogz and Tornado Wallace said Superb', Inspiring', Fantastic' and Bloody Ripping' respectively. Enjoy Part Three, full of deep, sample-heavy house and leftfield beats.

The Situation crew have paid their dues with some of the better disco edits to surface in recent times - a particularly slick and slippery revision of a Quantic standard for Disco Deviance still gets rotation from those in the know. It's nice to see the slightly elusive Five Valley crew return to the art of the twelve inch with something a bit more substantial in form of a new label Situationism and some original material for the debut release. "Barcelona" is presented in three different danceable situations (geddit) with the disco version a particular highlight. The excellent Psychemagik are also called on to remix the track in their own inimitable somewhere between house and disco style.

Dont Be Afraid present Spargel Trax, a two part series of vinyl-only, coloured, hand-stamped 12"s designed to celebrate the dual themes of great seasonal music and great seasonal Spargel. Contributing tracks across the two 12"

NEW from Joey Negro's Z Records, hand numbered 12's 1 - 430.
This 3 track EP from SPIRIT CATCHER aka THOMAS SOHET & JEAN VANESSE brings out some serious 80s boogie-esque funk! "STREET SKILLS" takes on the A-side while the bumpin "RENDEZ-VOUS" and "ABSOLUTE DROP" hold down the flip.

After the HUGE success of Suonho's 'The Ghetto' 12' last year, we jumped at the opportunity to work together with him again. This is the first 12' from an ongoing project titled 'The Director's Cuts'.
Five hard to find tracks each with deep funky flavour and not originally intended for the dance floor superbly 'reloved', rearranged and given that extra bit of Suonho magic!

There has been a lot of buzz about The KDMS lately. They have been described as the 'indie disco answer to Adele'. Swedish producer Axel Boman found a wonderful description: 'shimmering little diamonds in the autumn night'. Then a German journalist wrote: 'The KDMS could be for the new underground disco scene what Moloko were for the late 90's downbeat phenomena. A key band that connects current club music with great song writing and the unique voice of great Soul Diva

Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor likes The KDMS. And The KDMS likes Alexis. So why not join forces. Alexis called his friend JUSTUS KOEHNCKE from Kompakt and here is the result. The new single of London's new indie disco duo THE KDMS:
WONDERMAN. Including a cover version by Alexis Taxlor & Justus Kˆhncke. And a remix by TIEDYE from Sweden.
From the upcoming The KDMS debut album. Coming in May 2012.

Following two singles that already caused quite a buzz about Gomma records' new act. Did you hear their "fun" - cover version of Madonna's new single It's all over the Internet right now. And the Morgan Geist remix of "Tonight" is still around.

Kathy Diamond and Max Skiba from the KDMS can expect a nice year 2012.

Some DJ feedback:
Soul Clap: "this is very cool."
Tensnake: "Great stuff!"
Jaymo: "Ohhhh. Niiiiiiiice!! "
Aeroplane: "I really love the The KDMS"
Mylo: "Great thanks! Big fan of Skiba & Kathy Diamond"

Strut follow up Trevor Jackson's acclaimed 'Metal Dance' compilation of original industrial, post-punk and EBM (Electronic Body Music) gems with a 12' single featuring three essential cuts from the compilation, none of which feature on the LP edition.

personal Music main artist and Venezuelan club export nr 1, Trujillo delivers another sure-shot EP for us in the form of the Acapulco Gold EP with killer remixes from Ron Basejam and Cosmic Kids.

'Acapulco Gold' takes off where his latest Apersonal release 'Fruit Punch' left, summery vibes but with an emotion so deep you can hear the Caribbean dolphins cry, this truly is Trujillo's best work to date. Ron Basejam from Crazy P transforms Acapulco Gold to a slower mover with quirky vocals and wonderfully funky Rhodes licks, giving way for a bad ass synth line to complement the remix.

'You Keep Me' is a sundrenched disco cut with slow evolving synch work and a massive breakdown, a true Trujillo feel good tune. Newcomers Cosmic Kids had massive success with their Throne of Blood release "Reginald's Groove" and they currently remixed The Rapture and Holy Ghost on DFA - so choosing them to touch You Keep was a natural choice and boy do they deliver. Dirty, dark and extremely groovy are the keywords here, pitching the song a few notches and building a solid ground for a breakdown with arpeggiated synth work.

Apersonal Music is back with a vengeance, ready to start the summer season now.

Rest! Music invites us to the table and presents the debut of their compilation series "Restaurant".
