Dr John Cooper Clarke has today announced 'Anthologia' - the first anthology of his work and a unique 3CD/DVD bookset collection of his anarchic poetry, to be released on Sony 16 October 2015. Including Evidently Chickentown, I Wanna Be Yours and live performances from the Manchester Ritz and Hulme Hippodrome, the collection truly encompasses Cooper Clarke's wicked humour, originality and his mastery of the spoken word in a career spanning five decades.

The poet, who has recently provided inspiration to artists including The Arctic Monkeys and Plan B, makes his return with this extraordinary collection of his words, anthologised. The 3 CDs encapsulate Cooper Clarke's expansive archive of poems, performed in his inimitable style. The collection is a combination of original studio recordings with unique backing music produced by Martin Hannett and Invisible Girls, as well as spoken word performances. 'Anthologia' also comes complete with a DVD of rare and previously unseen footage dating back to the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1978 through to the more recent Palace Theatre Manchester show from 2014.

While in the process of recording and optimizing the old reel tapes for the initial track list, Cohen discovered a master tape that was originally prepared for an extremely limited cassette release on the Generations Unlimited imprint in NYC. This collection, preserved in the original order of its initial release, contains some of Cohen's collaborations and performances in theater pieces and art installations by Jeff Cain, Tonio Guerra, Group Motion and more. A 2LP document, Music for Dance and Theater shows Cohen's extremely sensitive and creative integration of sound into these theatrical performances and visual art installations.

Issued in three parts - this vinyl series will culminate in a full CD release to be announced later this year.

'When people ask me what kind of music I do,' says Soko, 'I usually tell them - Punk secrets". Intimate, lo-fi, crazy, sexy, funny, tear-stained, heartbreaking, often all at once, the explosive young Frenchwoman's songs have already touched people around the world, earning her a massive global following. At one mega-gig in Australia, she had 15,000 people singing along with her. Since her teens, Soko has been on a rollercoaster journey. From a stockpile of over 100 songs, she has now finally whittled down to a selection of 14, her debut album. Aptly entitled 'I Thought I Was An Alien', it's full of love and loss and worry - the kind of fundamental, life-dictating human feelings, which are so far beyond rational explanation, they really ought to be kept under lock and key, along with that strange apparition from Roswell. Like one of her absolute heroes, Daniel Johnston, however, Soko has the rare ability to sing openly about those feelings, in a way which is utterly compelling, sometimes devastating, but also, completely uplifting. 'Most of what I do is like crying on my guitar,' she says. 'Why it took me so long to make my album' she ponders. 'It's because I'm a control freak. I wanted to feel totally independent in my music. I wouldn't've been able to release anything before I was sure I could produce myself, and I can play every single instrument, except strings and horns, and control every part that's on the record, and know that I've chosen everything myself, or I've played it myself, or I made the arrangement for it.' Like innumerable bedsit troubadours of her generation, Soko started out with just her voice, her acoustic guitar, and GarageBand. After moving to Paris, her early demoes were picked up by radio stations in Denmark, Belgium and Australia, making her too much of a new pop thing, without her own consent. SOME OF THE THINGS THIS RECORD IS ABOUT
Most of the songs on this record are pretty self-evident. Creepin' Round is about feeling like an outsider. Smoke Like Hell is about choosing immediacy, choosing the 'right now'. Jammer is sorta the same except it's got a beady eye on what you might call 'basic shamanism', you know... Cruisin' the IDR is about Reading's Inner Distribution Road, which is a concrete blanket that snakes around the centre of the town, holding Reading in a sort of permanent stranglehold. It's been there since the late 60s and it's ugly to look at. Part of the IDR has big concrete walls and all you can see whilst driving through these sections is tarmac, concrete and, if you look up, sky. We drive around it a lot. Cruisin' the IDR is the closest thing we will ever get to a 'hometown' song. Yeah, I was Hypnotised is about fascination with the atomic bomb, particularly the ubiquitous 'mushroom cloud' image but also the small matter of the human race making this thing in order to destroy itself en masse. Hate It is about apathy and feeling powerless to change owt going on. It's also about recognising that apathy and trying to get yourself going, find a way through it. And about lying to yourself.

Montréal synth punk quartet Police Des Moeurs returns on Mannequin Records with a brand new full length entitled 'Ceux Qui Restent', the most dynamic and incendiary record of the group's career, following the highly-acclaimed self-titled release from 2013.
While the first effort was mostly about how we're all separate from eachother, this new album is all about getting over and trying to fight that emotion. As vocalist and synth player Francis Dugas explains: 'most of the new LP is about links, love and caring (in PDM style, obviously). The title is «Ceux qui restent», which means «Those who stay» or something like that. Clutch, the influential heavy rock band from Maryland, will release its eleventh studio album "Psychic Warfare" October 2nd via their own label Weathermaker Music. The album was produced by longtime producer Machine (Lamb Of God, Every Time I Die) and consists of 12 new tracks.

'Double Trouble', released August 21st 2015, is the lead single and statement of intent from the 10th Public Image Ltd (PiL) studio album 'What The World Needs Now...'. Released on 10' vinyl 'Double Trouble' will be backed by 'Bettie Page' and also the additional non-album bonus track 'Turkey Tits'. Following on from the huge critical success of 2012's 'This is PiL', the band's first album in 17 years, PiL returned to Steve Winwood's Wincraft studio in the Cotswolds' to record the new album 'What The World Needs Now...' released on September 4th 2015. PiL will be on tour in UK/Europe/North America from September 2015. 'Double Trouble' is self-funded by PiL and released on their own label 'PiL Official'. The artwork for the single, partly inspired by Native American Hopi characters, was designed and handdrawn by John Lydon.

" Love will remember Pharaon de Winter" is said at the end of the record. Pharaon de Winter was a painter from North of France, who lived from the end of the XIXth century to the beginning of the XXth century. Today, Pharaon de Winter is reappearing again. It's a band, but also the name of a song, which changed everything for his author. Past leader of both bands Toy Fight and (Please), Maxime Chamoux was playing since now a genre between North American rock of Spoon and Neutral Milk Hotel, and sophisticated British pop from Prefab Sprout or XTC. We find today in this new project songs navigating between French, for most part, and English. Partners and friends since a long time, Thomas Pirot at the drums and Raphael Ankierman at the bass are playing alongside FX Guéant-Mata at the guitar. We also find Mina Tindle and her delicate voice appearing here and there. At last we don't forget the goldsmith's talent of Canadian musician Sandro Perri who's joining the band, highly recommended by Pitchfork magazine with his album Impossible Spaces in 2011.

Back in 2011, Chicago's Beau Wanzer reshaped the angry body-music of the now-defunct Houston duo //TENSE// with an 8 minute claustrophobic TR-909 workout. 1996 release 12 Golden Country Greats is the Pennsylvania duo's 5th full-length but the first to stick to just one style which was, surprisingly enough, country music. That said, the title of the album is only half-correct as there's actually only 10 songs here, why You'll have to ask Dean and Gene that one. Featuring some of Nashville's greatest session musicians (including "Pig" Robbins, Charlie McCoy, and the Jordanaires), this is one of Ween's finest records to date, with that classic Ween sense of humor filtered through a distinct countrypolitan sound. With the success of his Apostrophe and Roxy & Elsewhere albums, 1974 saw Frank Zappa at his commercial peak. Evidently feeling a surfeit of goodwill towards his fans, at the close of the year he prepared a personally mixed reel of live performances from the previous year for broadcast on WLIR-FM in Garden City, New York on New Year's Eve. Not to be confused with a show he was playing the same night in Long Beach, California, this is a typically adventurous and humorous compilation, and is presented here with background notes and images.

Invigorated by having shaken up the personnel of the Mothers, in 1971 Frank Zappa was enjoying himself more than ever. Having played a gig earlier in the evening, the band taped this largely acoustic set for broadcast on the local CKGM-FM radio station. It finds Zappa backed by ex-Turtles Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan (aka the Phlorescent Leech & Eddie), as well as Jim Pons, Ian Underwood, Bob Harris and Aynsley Dunbar, and is presented here complete with background notes and images.

BiSKAIDAN is a cross-generational coup de pop, uniting two acts from opposing ends of Japan's musical spectrum. BiS (short for Brand-New Idol Society) are representatives of Japan's idol' scene, a culture of singer-dancer-celebs who define the country's pop mainstream. HIJOKAIDAN (led by guitarist Jojo Hiroshige and screaming witch Junko) is an infamous art-noise improv troupe dating back to the late '70s, famous for stage antics both familiar (squalls of feedback, guitar throwing) and less familiar (pissing onstage and rolling around in the puddles). The music they create together sounds like nothing you've ever heard before. A volcano made of gut wrenching screams, distorted guitars, angelic singings and positive kawaii energy. Today, they are back with a vengeance, and a very loud one to top it off! The Japanese all-star band is still playing its very own brand of music, perverting the quirkiness of metal influenced idol tunes with a love for shrieking and sonic assaults. On this second offering named BiSkaidan 2, they deliver seven brand new renditions of their now typical idol-noise music with a fierce and destructive energy.

The Ramones' first three albums are indispensable artefacts of the late-seventies punk explosion with their venomous fusion of Alice Cooper, The Lemon Pipers and any other adolescent obsessions and college preoccupations. Ultimately, like their early live shows, these early albums are exhilarating formal triumphs. Their 31st January appearance at The Old Waldorf in 1978 enforced this with an abundance of energy and good vibes. Sweating American culture from every pore in twenty-six songs delivered with breakneck ferocity. Quite simply, it was a furore that challenged the pomp of prog and rock drawing on three albums with Rocket To Russia being the most recent. Their Waldorf appearance displays a formidable force of nature in action. Armed with guitars, drums and with the trademark '1,2,3,4..' assault, the band rip through their 1978 setlist, a near carbon copy of their more familiar January 7th NYC performance aired on the King Biscuit Flower Hour. Incidentally, Tommy Ramone would leave the band shortly after these shows to make way for ex-Voidoids drummer Marc Bell (aka Marky Ramone) to concentrate on producing. Fortunately, the records remain, but importantly, so do a handful of live recordings that can at least allow an appreciation of an equally vital part of their legacy.

Echoes proudly presents a rare opportunity to capture The Ramones at their explosive best and in their formative years when CBGB's was a minor backstreet haunt. Their appearance at The Old Waldorf on 31st January 1978, broadcast on KSAN-FM, personifies the energy and ferocity of the band as a live act and assists in securing their legacy not only as an iconic rock 'n' roll group, but also as the last true garage band. Fully re-mastered sound with background liners and rare photos.

The Queers / Manges split from 2003 is back, only on blue vinyl LP, remastered by Justin Perkins. The Queers covered classics by Velvet Underground, Surfaris, Troggs, Helen Love and more. Awesome and unusual line up with Joe Queer, Dangerous Dave on bass and Dusty Watson (Dick Dale, Agent Orange, Sonics) on drums. The Manges from Italy covered a Cheap Trick hit and also delivered some of their own most popular tunes (Barrage Of Hate, I Don't Wanna Live In Hell) for the first time. This came out originally on Stardumb Records and Ammonia Records, back when cds were a great deal, and has been out of print for more than 10 years. Now Manges' own label Striped Records took care of this 500 copies limited edition, with new artwork and layout by Mass Mosrite. Digital download included.

"Es ist schwierig, ein komplettes Album zusammenzufassen, nachdem wir soviel Zeit mit dem Songschreiben und Aufnehmen verbracht haben und Blut, Schweiß und Tränen flossen," erzählt Frontmann Matt Tuck. "Es war hart, für die Texte wieder an einige äußerst dunkle Orte zurückzukehren, aber sobald ich Fährte aufgenommen hatte, war es OK für mich, gewisse Themen einfach rauszulassen - und die Hölle brach los. Dieses Album ist ganz klar das aggressivste, das wir je eingespielt haben, und textlich wird es sicherlich Viele aufhorchen lassen.

Without exaggeration we can defend that Blue Ash had a certain level of importance from a historical point of view. longside other bands of their time such as The Raspberries - also from Ohio-, Big Star or the British Badfinger, they helped defining on the early seventies the sound that would later became a scene under the sign of power-pop. Likewise the rest of the above mentioned bands, they avoided the influence of the symphonic and progressive as well as the hard-rock push and opted for a more peculiar and, in a way, anachronic mix: the strength of seventies rock modelled by pop melodies coming from the earlier decade.

Blue Ash was a modest band from Youngstown formed in 1969. They seeked -and managed to achieve by far- to pull a sound just like the Beatles, The Who, Kinks, Hollies, Small Faces and all those big names from the Brit Invasion without loosing those folk-rock harmonies of the Beau Brummels or The Byrds nor the sound of the West Coast bands of the time. They lasted for a decade, during which period they received the support of some key characters like Greg Shaw

and Paul Nelson -who signed them to Mercury...like the New York Dolls!- and published two albums. The first one, No More, No Less (Mercury, 1973), is an impeccable album, a guitar pop classic, a reference for those devoted to seventies rock. It didn't sell all that well despite of the great critics. Years later they publishing Front Page News (Playboy, 1977), an album to recapture, poorly understood due to a more ambitious production, but full of great songs.

Not long after the band had split up they were widely acclaimed. First it was The Records, including Abracadabra (Have you seen her)' in their classic Ep that came with the first LP, that Shades in Bed. But it wasn't just them, since all one had to do was just to to expose oneself to the songs of Blue Ash to be fully impregnated by their sound. The good news is that even though they never had too much luck nor commercial success the band were very prolific making songs and had the good practice of visiting the Peppermint Studios in Ohio to rehearse and record their songs as demos. The result was overwhelming, with nothing less than a legacy of two hundred and nineteen tracks amongst which a selection of twenty eight have been put together in this Hearts & Arrows that is going to look fab in your record collection. Some of those tracks ended up as part of their official LPs, others appeared in Around Again, that double CD published by Not Lame in 2004 and that discovered us the treasure chest, with eight previously unreleased songs too. Excellent songs, superb rock and roll.
