Teen Men is the self-titled debut album from this Delaware-based four piece audio/visual group. The album was recorded at The Garden Center and Paper Lab Recording studios in Delaware and engineered, mixed and produced by band member Nick Krill.

Teen Men comprises two musicians Nick Krill and Joe Hobson (members of The Spinto Band) and two visual artists Albert Birney (creator of the Simply Sylvio series on Vine) and artist Catharine Maloney (who has exhibited internationally and has a Master of Fine Arts from Yale University).

The resultant music is an ambitious blending of tunefully trippy melodies delivered via guitars, synthesizers, and vocals, with impertinent samples and haunting, atmospheric ambient electronics. These performances are audio/visual experiments; innovative, individualistic and concise, reflecting a love of the pop thrill and a dedication to classic song craft.

UK born but now US based, John Graham's new album is set to reach these shores showcasing slick, contemporary indie-rock with electronic touches and a heap of swagger. With influences including the Stone roses, Kasabian, The Cure, Depeche mode and more, it's an album full of ideas which is primed to make an impact. The album is something of a departure for Graham, whose previous work under the name Quivver has seen him gaining countless plaudits producing house and techno music.

However, 'Cold Sun' and lead single 'Roll the Dice' prove that there are multiple strings to this particular bow, by turning out tunes which are strongly based on the indie rock genre. These hook laden, energetic tracks are then laced with dynamic electronic ideas, ported over from his experience in the EDM genres, to give them extra flavour. It's not common that indie, rock and electronic ideas are mixed so effectively, with the latter adding superb textures to the former, and it's certainly one hell of a combination thanks to the subtlety of John Graham's genre bending.

This combination is showcased by this superb video for the single - not suitable for those with a fear of heights, it blends off kilter performance footage with a montage of adrenaline pumping, high risk stunts. It's a truly compelling watch married to a fantastic musical groove.

The 'Cold Sun' album has been in the making for many years, being written in snatched time between full time work as a house and techno DJ and producer. It's release is the culmination of an ambition John Graham has had for many years - to create a collection of songs that don't fit neatly into a specific genre, and demonstrate just how versatile his writing can be.

His new music does a fantastic job of proving that thanks to a brazen and assured indie rock approach that drips with attitude. It's a long way from the jungle and house specialist who started out in the 1990s and is well established in that environment. Over the years since, John Graham (as Quivver) has picked up myriad honours and career highs. The quality of his work can be vouched for by over 45,000 online followers, as well as record deals with Virgin, Warner Brothers & Hooj Choons who he has had record deals with in the past.

Formed by Tokyo University of the Arts graduate Narita Haneda in 2009, then quickly joined by female artist and vocalist Natsuki Ogoda, Passepied (taken from the name of an old French dance close to the Minuet, chosen in memory of Debussy) has gained a dedicated following across Japan by putting out one great record after another. Hot on the heels of the major signing with Warner Music Japan (2012), they're now taking the next step by playing outside of their native county and daring to challenge themselves with their first analog release, Makunouchi-ism, on the French based label Specific Recordings. Their unique blend of 70s disco, 80s jazz rock, 90s J-pop and modern prog-rock has turned all the J-music fans upside down and Passepied are now ready to take the world by storm.

The 'Hooteroll Band', as often the Howard Wales and Jerry Garcia's combo was called after their respected album from 1970, shines in this incredible performance broadcasted from the Symphony Hall in Boston, with his combined acid guitar and funky sound.
A must for all the DEAD HEADS out there.

Gerry Rafferty, the Scottish singer-songwriter from Paisley, had already been a member of two successful groups, the Humblebums and Stealers Wheel by the release of his most well-known solo album City to City in 1978.
Featuring 'Baker Street', Rafferty's signature song, City to City went on to top the US Billboard charts with Platinum sales as well as reaching number 6 in the UK.

Oriental rock 'n' roll! This killer double sider features 2 raw vintage dance tunes from the 60's, combining the best of the East and the West. Each of these 2 dance floor fillers is unique in its own way. Getting these tunes on original 45 is rather tough, so grab your chance!

Everything But The Girl band member Ben Watt was strongly influenced in his first steps by mentor Robert Wyatt. The LP starts with 'Summer Into Winter' the legendary 10' written and performed together by the duo of Watt / Wyatt followed by the english-folk milestone of the 80s 'North Marine Drive'. Including a rare gem cover of Dylan's 'You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go', this album is a must for all fans of Nick Drake.

In schnieken
neuen Albums für - The Demon Joke .
- Don't Forget The Joker für gefühlvolle Highlights sorgen.

Cover hier, die BBC Sound of 2015 Nennung dort.

'Hours...' is the 21st studio album by British musician David Bowie, released in 1999. It was the first complete album by a major artist available to download over the Internet, preceding the physical release by two weeks.
A lot of the material that ended up on 'Hours...' was originally used, in alternate versions, for the video game Omikron: The Nomad Soul, which also featured two characters based on Bowie, as well as one on his wife Iman, one on 'Hours...' collaborator Reeves Gabrels, and one on bassist Gail Ann Dorsey.

The album cover, designed by Rex Ray with photography by Tim Bret Day and Frank Ockenfels, depicts the short-haired Bowie persona from the intensely energetic previous album Earthling (MOVLP815) exhausted, resting in the arms of a long-haired, more youthful version of Bowie. Indeed,
'Hours...' is a much mellower album than its predecessor, and features numerous references to earlier parts of Bowie's musical career (particularly the early 1970s).

Django Django's debut album came out in January 2012 on Because Music and was lavished with praise. It was 'updated psychedelia that beguiles and delights' (The Guardian), 'consistently mind-melting and often brilliant' (Q), 'bursting with ideas' (Pitchfork) and 'gloriously, unpredictably new' (Mojo). By December it had been shortlisted for the Mercury Prize and named one of the albums of the year by Rolling Stone and NME. They became known from their electric live performances full of energy, and went on to play memorable shows at festivals across the globe including as Glastonbury and Fuji Rock. Born Under Saturn is the work of a band fired up by confidence and experience and propelled way beyond their DIY roots. It has all of the imagination of their debut self-titled album but splashed across a larger canvas. 'Once we got into the studio it became obvious it would be a bigger-sounding record,' says bassist Jim Dixon. Recorded at Netil House in east London and Angelic Studios in Banbury, Born Under Saturn saw the song writing split four ways with Dave also producing the record. Lyrics often emerged naturally from the sound of the music. There are dark dramas like Found You, which draws on the myth of Faust's deal with the devil, and Shot Down, a bloody tale of crime and betrayal. Jim wrote the sighingly beautiful Beginning to Fade while contemplating writer's block and the atmospheric, synth-driven High Moon, says Dave, is about people who 'come alive at night". Born Under Saturn expands on the slippery, indefinable brilliance of the debut, finding magic in the unexplored spaces between different kinds of music, and never doing the same thing twice.

One of Cerys Matthews Picks for April 2015

As is so often the case those truly immersed in music are incapable of contriving success in the music business. Such is the case with the Smokey's.

This their first and final album is the only surviving relic of a band that fell apart before a single song was released.

For the last 8 years I have worked on and off recording music in London at Antonio Feola's Fish Factory studio.

A hidden jewel of a studio for the many bands who pass through its doors. It is a chapel of sorts to the outsider. Musicians who record here, whether established in their careers or making their first record all find themselves at home.

Some such strays were the Smokey Angle Shades. A ramshackle group of singers and songwriters who came with other bands, but found each other and studio owner Antonio Feola to play drums and record their band.

My fondness for this music has grown as I've heard snatches of playback before and after sessions. Having had the rough mixes in my car for a year on repeat I knew that whilst the band may never play again the record must find its way to the airways and on to ears of those people hungry for music that cannot help how it sounds.

Two breakdowns, a marriage, loves lost and found, a million pounds and an eye (no lie). That's roughly the bill for this record. Perhaps the band was never meant to be, as members followed love, madness or other bands, Razorlight amongst others. The record at least was destined to exist and not even Paul Epworth's millions could persuade studio owner Feola to part with his studio and give up on the Shades of Joy.

I hope you enjoy the record as much as I do.

Benedic Lamdin Jan 2015

The Smokey's joyous sound is a soulful country tinged pop. Like a head on collision between the Beatles and the Bee Gees at Stax or Muscle Shoals studios. A kras comparison but I know you insist.
