The Red Crayola were a band at the very cutting edge of psychedelic music and have been described as the 'notorious self-styled bastard sons of the hippie dream'. They broke boundaries, unleashed a free-form anti rock noise on un suspecting audiences, took to the stage with an experimental ensemble called the Familiar Ugly and all this in conservative 1967 Houston.
This their first, and finest album from 1967, recorded for International Artists Records, in which leader Mayo Thompson leads them amongst the freak outs in a selection of enduring songs such as the much copied 'Hurricane Fighter Plane' and 'War Sucks'.
This release is a deluxe gatefold two record edition featuring both the mono and stereo versions.
It was lovingly re-mastered from the original tapes by devoted fan, Sonic Boom of Spacemen Three who considers the band the greatest and yet least recognised of the great 60s experimenters and visionaries.

Welcome to the surreal and slightly worrying world of Evil Blizzard. An assault on the ears and the eyes, their brutal onslaught of bludgeoning riffs has been making friends and enemies in equal measures throughout the country over the past 12 months.

The debut album THE DANGERS OF EVIL BLIZZARD will be released on JOHN ROBB'S Louder Than War Records on October 21st, 2013 on CD, download and very limited edition pink vinyl (500 Only For The World)

Comprising of four bass guitars, with minimal vocals, keyboards and samples, the band have drilled right into the void currently present in the UK music scene. With influences ranging from Hawkwind, Dub Reggae, Krautrock and Black Sabbath they have amassed a huge and dedicated following in a short space of time, playing with such varied acts as Bo Ningen, Conan, Ufomammut and Gnod

Spotted at an early gig by Mark E Smith, who promptly took the band on tour supporting The Fall, the band have spent the past year gathering phenomenal reviews for their incredible live shows which feature a myriad of masks, on stage brawls, off stage brawls, stage invasions and audience participation. Their tribal and ritualistic performances are a B-Movie theatre of the absurd; a mix of bewilderment and celebration.

The album was recorded live in one take at Sunshine Studios in Manchester by Andy Gibbon (who has worked with The Fall amongst others). Recording it took 5 hours. Mixing it to emulate the chaos of them live took 5 months.

Listed as 'one of the top 20 bands to watch out for in 2013' on their hugely influential website, Louder Than War supremo John Robb was so impressed with the band he set up Louder Than War records to release the album, despite the band having several other offers from labels.

Happy Meals is the Glasgow-based duo of Suzanne Rodden and Lewis Cook, life-partners since high school finding expression in cosmic form.
Originally from the Scottish borders, Rodden and Cook (also of The Cosmic Dead) begat Happy Meals in a flurry of experimentation at Glasgow's creative hub The Green Door Store. Initially the result of a free music production course, Apéro sees the pair embark on a blissful voyage into a love-fuelled, outward-looking hedonism. Both artists operate machines and sing but it's the dominating Franco-Scottish lingua-franca of Suzanne Rodden that imbues a sense of seductive fun to the album.

Their first recorded statement, Apéro is an instant rush of Kosmiche-disco, utterly addictive and inviting. The epic Crystal Salutation welcomes the listener in with analogue synths delayed into the horizon before Electronic Disco ushers in distorted drum machines and Rodden's disco-at-sunset vocal. Album stand-out Altered Images is a pop-masterpiece, mixing French / Italo disco, acid basslines and a sense of Scottish optimism. After album sales in excess of 40 million, Lenny Kravitz has announced the release of his
tenth studio album 'Strut.' Very much a return to form, the album is on Lenny's own
label, through the influential Kobalt Music Services.

'The Chamber' has been confirmed as BBC Radio 2 'Record of the Week' the week
starting 1st
September and will be either A or B listed there from the week after.

"This record brought me back to a place of what I love so much about music," Lenny
Kravitz says, "back to the feelings I had when I was in high school. It's a real rock & roll
record - it's raw, it's got soul and it came together really quickly."

As always, Kravitz plays guitar, bass, keyboards and drums and percussion on the album,
and produced and arranged it as well. To provide the final defining touch on Strut,
however, Kravitz called on the legendary Bob Clearmountain to mix the album (David
Bowie's Let's Dance, the Rolling Stones' Tattoo You and Bruce Springsteen's Born in the
U.S.A.).

Lenny will be performing in London as part of the iTunes Festival on 26th

returning as part of his world tour 6th

Plötzlich erscheint die primitive Metal-meets-Punk Attitüde des Debüt-Albums nur noch als ein Fragment des elektrischen Rock'n'Roll Traums der nun auf dem Nachfolger vorgestellt wird. Chöre, akustische Gitarren, Klavier und Percussion schaffen einen sehr stilvollen aber nie polierten Sound, die Songs sind wie dafür gemacht. - Wir wollten weitergehen und neue Wege finden. Was wir sehr an der Musik aus den 70er Jahren mögen ist, dass es oft eben nicht nur schwer sondern auch sehr weich ist. Lebewohl zu sagen ist nie leicht. Es liegt in unserer Natur, an Dingen festzuhalten, die wir mögen oder lieben. Allerdings hat alles seine Zeit. Und für mich ist es an der Zeit, meinen Abschied aus der Öffentlichkeit vorzubereiten.'
Diese Zeilen schrieb der Graf unter anderem in einem offenen Brief an seine Fans. Mit der Single Zeit zu Gehen wird der langsame, und sehr emotionale Abschied der Band Unheilig eingeleitet. Zeit zu Gehen ist nach mehr als 15 Jahren Unheilig das musikalische Statement der Band, um die große Bühne zu verabschieden. Der Graf beschließt seinen Brief an die Unheilig Fans mit den Worten:
'Doch soviel sei versprochen: der letzte Vorhang wird erst dann fallen, wenn wir uns alle gebührend voneinander verabschiedet haben. Ich möchte zusammen mit Euch allen diesen Abschied auf den noch kommenden Konzerten bewusst erleben und feiern, um auch noch Jahre später auf eine wirklich außergewöhnliche Zeit zurückblicken zu können. Ich möchte euch alle bitten, die Botschaft meiner Texte und Songs mit all den positiven Werten in die Zukunft zu tragen und an Eure Liebsten weiter zu geben.

It all began on a hot August day in 2013, the inspiration leads me to write 8 tracks of 'album "Reaction" except "Embrace" that I wrote in 2006, subsequently decided that the time has come to offer my songs in I do concerts around Italy. The enthusiasm of the audience and my fellow musicians and friends to convince me that it is finally time to record the album in Rome at the end of a series of exciting concerts. The inspiration that came out and wanted songs that were born from the different faces that recall my personality and culture for what I love "jazz music." The song "For Jim Hall" was written thinking of one of my favorite musicians the great "Jim Hall". The interplay of the quartet is "Reaction", a mix of our personalities. The songs were recorded in the studio in a serene and almost always choosing the first take. Reaction is my first album as simple and essential in my life.

20 Jahre. So lange ist es her, seitdem Selig ihr erstes, unbetiteltes Album mit dem Song "Ohne Dich" veröffentlichten - und damit jenseits aller Rock-Klischees eine ganze Generation von Fans prägten, die spätestens bei eben jenem Song das Feuerzeug aus den Taschen zogen, um im Chor voller Inbrunst mitzusingen.

20 Jahre. Mittlerweile bringen diese Fans ihre erwachsenen Kinder mit zu den Konzerten von Selig, eine Band, die auf turbulente Jahr(zehnt)e, sechs Studioalben und unzählige Live-Auftritte zurückblickt.

20 Jahre. - Am 10.10.14 wird das mit der Veröffentlichung von "Die Besten 1994 - 2014"gefeiert. Für das Album unterziehen Selig ihren allerliebsten und besten Songs reduzierte, auf das wesentliche fokussierte Neuinterpretationen. Ohne Berührungsängste wurden die bekannten Versionen bis auf den Kern entschlackt ,ohne jedes Tabu neu bewertet - und schließlich in neuer Instrumentierung und mit überwiegend neuen Arrangements so aufgenommen, wie die Musiker sie heute fühlen.

A native American themed twin-spin, with the top side featuring the Scouts recounting Custer's infamous last stand in stomping, hollering glory. In today's enlightened world, it's kind of questionable of course, but the phony native chants really add to the greatness of this wonderfully kooky piece of rock and roll exotica. Speaking of kooky, Rusty Isabel gets himself all juiced up on the b-side, with a jaunty, groovy instrumental named 'Fire Water'. Both sides guaranteed to rock your own little Pow Wow.

You+Me ist der Name eines bandneuen Projekts von Alecia Moore (P!NK) und Dallas Green (City & Color. Der 10 Tracks umfassende Longplayer "rose ave." erscheint am 10. Oktober. You+Me ist für Alecia Moore und Dalles Green eine Herzensangelegenheit. Die beiden lernten sich durch Alecias Ehemann Carey Hart kennen, spürten sofort eine musikalische Verbindung und fassten den Plan, miteinander Musik zu machen. Alecia lud Dallas nach Los Angeles ein, um ein oder zwei Songs zu schreiben, letzten Endes entstanden innerhalb einer Woche acht Stücke. Das Duo beschloss darauf hin, ein Album zu machen. Dallas Green, dessen Veröffentlichungen als City And Colour weltweit von der Kritikern hoch gelobt wurden und dessen Konzerte und Tourneen überall auf der Welt ausverkauft sind, veröffentlichte bis dato vier Studioalben, die allesamt Platinstatus in Kanada erreichten. Lyttelton is a gorgeous port town to the north of Christchurch. A home for Maori for about 700 years, Lyttelton Harbour was discovered by European voyagers passing by on 16 February 1770 during the Endeavour's first voyage to New Zealand. Today it is one of New Zealand's busiest ports. In popular culture it is best known as the location for most of the exterior scenes in Peter Jackson's 1996 horror movie The Frighteners.It is also a town surrounded by many historic buildings, many of which
have been turned into bars

Aldous Harding's music has been the best thing that has ever happened to these bars, where wayfaring loners shuffle in at the wrong times of day. She has been the saviour of those falling in home-cooked opium furrows. She has kept sailors in check with cheek and a strong-songed tongue.

Upon releasing their now sold-out self titled debut album in 2010, Sloath claimed 'more soon!' ... Four years on they have finally delivered 'Deep Mountain'. In place of the wide, white spaces of the debut, shorter tunes slam corkscrew riffage home with a new-found rhythmic propulsion. Behind the filthy power chords (redolent at times of Harvey Milk or Melvins), the overblown scut of Les Rallizes Denudes or Mainliner, and the state-altering sonics a la Bardo Pond, a mud-scuffed classic rock sensibility informs the songs and their structures. Having submitted to the influence of Creedence, ZZ Top and the Groundhogs, 'Deep Mountain' is no doom-rock trawl - with the exception of blissful, glacial centrepiece 'The Toucher', the songs here are for the party or the road trip.

SOME HISTORY:

2007: Five veterans of Brighton's rock scene gather with the intention of playing slower, louder and heavier than any of them have previously. Initial songs are developed with the aid of weapons-grade skunk, Polish beer and a heady cocktail of cheap rum and apple tango. Tunes built from super-distorted power chords and crushing, throbbing, squalling drone stretch at times past the half-hour mark. Early gigs are marked by deafened, blissed-out audiences, blown amplifiers and mid-set fist fights with venue managers.

2010: Debut album finally released on Riot Season, featuring three monolithic slabs of psych-sludge, but the band has already moved on, having written and discarded a whole LP's worth of new material, before holing up in their practise space to record six brand new numbers for album number two. The songs are shorter and faster, unlike the mixing process, which due to various members' life stuff takes four years to complete. In the interim, various comings and goings leave the band stripped back to a four-piece, working on yet another batch of new material in twice-yearly spurts of activity.

'Drifting Way Out Between Suns' offers up forty plus minutes of sonic bass lines, steady free form tempos, totally crushing, waster infused, head-change guitar leads.

The trio evoke the psychedelic jam music of San Francisco's glory days - effects-laden guitar jamming that goes nowhere and everywhere, held down by a hypnotic groove that never misses a beat, no matter how long they play without pause.

The blues-rock roots of the jamming makes for a calming experience, after the head-fuck you'll experience waiting for them. Sonically heavy rolling-thunder basslines, shaped by total head-change waster infused guitar freak-outs, gelled together with steady freeform rhythms.

Rock and Rock roots, deep down under You'd better believe it! The roots of Australian rockers AC/DC lie in the whirlwind of original fifties rock and roll.
In the early days the group would cut their teeth on the club circuit with a live set that would include a handful of band originals,a few Rolling Stones numbers plus many crowd pleasing Rock and Roll classics.
The Sydney club and bar scene was rough so you had to get the punters on your side.
With their original singer Dave Evans at the helm the group who play residencies at the likes of the New Hampton Court Hotel in Sydney entertaining with their own brand of loud guitar takes of 'Carol' and 'Bye Bye Johnny'by Chuck Berry,'Tutti Frutti'by Little Richard,as well as rocking standards like 'Shake,rattle and roll' and 'Blue Suede Shoes'.
Cranking out cover versions didn't die even when the group composed more original material,a version of 'School Days' by Chuck Berry would appear on their second album' TNT',whilst 'Baby Please Don't Go' would be pulled from their original 1975 debut album'High Voltage' and issued as a single in America.
These roots are the reason that AC/DC have become one of the best loved bands on the planet who never fail to deliver the goods everytime.......

* Violet Woods was formed in Cambridge in 2011, stemming from the desire to explore sounds of 60s London psychedelia and Nuggets compilations. By juxtaposing the 12 string jangle of the Byrds with surf basslines and rolling beats, they impart their own take on this period while bringing it into the present with Stereolab / Broadcast flavoured retro synth vibes and ghostly vocals. Their debut single, 'Raw Love'
was released on The Great Pop Supplement, and is now sold-out.
Two sessions at Soup Studios, London allowed them to develop their vision while recording their songs: 'Soup was a great match, we wanted to make a record using gear and techniques available 50 years ago, recording live in the same room to tape with minimal overdubs.', says Xavier (guitar/vocals). This process allowed the songs to carry the authenticity of their sound, and the immediacy of the live recording can be felt throughout.

An extend play 33 RPM 7" EP. Peter brings us 4 songs on this one. Side A features two rockers - one being "Portrait Of A Sorry Man" in which Peter asks for forgiveness for all his sins and one being the classic rock thumper - "If This Is Love Give Me My Money Back". The other B side (did we mention this is a double B side) is two raw stripped down demos played simply and beautifully by Peter and Scott McCaughey. A nice little record.

The Lost Tapes Record Club, a project curated by members of the band Clinic, celebrate the launch of their Exquisite Corpses imprint with it's inaugural release, 'Songs For The Secret Apocalypse, Vol. 1' - the first in a series of limited edition 7" vinyl records with digital download. A-side, "Remember Happier Times", is culled from a high-school vanity project that was only ever circulated on home made mix tapes, circa 1985, credited to the Sefton band, Foreign Policy whilst B-side "Blue Skies" is a darker jam that captures liquid pulses, conjured from Chthonic Tunnels, put to tape in one trance-like take. A follow up to the four EP cassette box-sets released throughout 2013 on Folklore Tapes in association with Finders Keepers Records, the Apocalypse series explores similar themes of psychogeography and musical alchemy in a quest to invoke a long forgotten history. Each edition, compiled by Brian Campbell and Carl Turney, comes with a stamped envelope of ephemera and is limited to 250 hand numbered copies.

On Tross's debut album 16:11 released on Hoga Nord Rekords you hear influences from the city and the woods, the sea and space - inner and outer. Tross deintellectualizes the jazz whilst taking clubmusic back to its roots. The 'kraut machine' is motoring on some tracks, while others are more clearly driven by dreamy melodies than by a monotonous beat.

Michael Holman and Nicholas Taylor have reunited once again to produce the first Gray album ever, titled, 'Shades of...' on their own label, Plush Safe Records, that hankers back to Gray's sonic roots - industrial noise melded with electronic atmospheres. This multi-track compilation includes and involves sample tracks from Gray's earliest recordings and performances, with samples of Basquiat's music and voice. Included is a solo performance by Basquiat (recorded by Justin Thyme) called 'Suicide Hotline,' where Basquiat, in 1980, called a suicide hotline, and in dramatic, and darkly teasing fashion, reads bits of his poetry to the hotline operator, never allowing the operator to know for sure if the 'caller' is insane, suicidal, or simply toying with him. The effect of the piece is powerful and disturbing, yet poignant and moving in a way only Basquiat could produce. The other tracks range from Stockhausen inspired fugues, to trip hop lanced throw downs. Holman & Taylor were fortunate to work with John Cale's drummer Dean Anthony on this new music, as well as fabled Tubes drummer, Prairie Prince and Downtown Scenester/drummer, Lenny Ferraro. 'Shades of...' is not only a living piece of New York history, it's also an audio interpretation of a journey to where Taylor & Holman see the future of music. Gray has not only returned to their sonic roots, they are also planning live performances that pay homage to their early Downtown gigs, where they performed inside, around and on top of sculptural works of art; like their infamous 'Ignorant Geodesic Dome' stage set that brought the house down at the Mudd Club in 1981.

Note: There are technically, 27 tracks on the album, but really there are only 18 because the first track, 'Suicide Hotline' (total duration - 3:53) has been broken up into 10 separate pieces and spread out over the album, with the intention of making it a common thread throughout the cd.
