Imaginary Family is the moniker of Joanna Isselé. Just a few years ago, Joanna was given an acoustic guitar as a present. She started writing songs, about delinquent cowboys, lonely neighbours and bird watchers. Being left-handed, she taught herself to play the right-handed guitar upside down. It defines her peculiar sound, which is delicate, unadorned and moving.
Together with Kristof Deneijs (Yuko), she just recorded her very first songs, featured on this debut EP. The first single, The Bird Watcher and its brilliant video already caused a modest stir online and the track has gained daytime rotation on both Studio Brussel and Radio 1. *Art Of Burning Water were born out of the 'white flats' of Hanwell (W7) and the pre-gentrified homes of Hammersmith (W6) in West London in 2001. The sound of suburban alienation and misfit isolation forged an awkward visceral sound that was too punk for the metallers, too noisy for the arthouse crowd and too weird for seemingly everyone else.
*AOBW continue to plough their own furrow despite personal injury and often chronic disorganisation. with self-promotion taking a back seat to the importance of sound creation to combat the often ugly hardships of everyday living.
*Like Slayer gone sludge, AOBW channel the prime noise-rock of vintage Zeni Geva and Godflesh with the more complex rhythmical riff obsessions of the Melvins, Keelhaul and mid-period Voivod. *In saying that however, AOBW also adhere to the original punk philosophy of 'anything goes'. There are no restrictions. Punk isn't about Discharge (as good as they were and are), studded belts and crusty bum flaps. Punk is the heart to tell the narrow minded to get fucked.
*'This Disgrace' continues the more spontaneous writing approach of third album 'Love You Dead' with some emotionally draining dirge sections akin to a more budget 'Children Of God'-era Swans, 'What's This For' period Killing Joke as well as the 'Souls At Zero' beatings of Neurosis. From their beginnings in 1994 to their final show in March 2011, The Big Oaks certainly divided opinion. They were described as "the sort of cripplingly unfunny comedy music which could only be appreciated by the friends of the cretins involved, or Red Dwarf t-shirt wearing bell-ends who live with their mams" on a message board once, but for those of us who were around in the North-East underground music scene that loved them, it was a whole different story. In fifteen years they only played twenty shows, but nonetheless much deserved cult status in the North East.
At once troubled and bitter yet soul-reflecting, their sharply-observed biting lyrics and fuzzed up instrumentation recalled many of the great British indie bands that used to pepper the Peel Festive 50s in the eighties. Their music encapsulates alienation, confusion, anger, loneliness, and (especially) belligerent humour. This music is an incredibly British deconstruction of punk-pop in a post-corporate, globalised, mass-media saturated world, mired in the tea-time and early evening TV of yesteryear, presumably as reference either to chief singer/songwriter Simon 'John the Rat' Windsor's feelings of the past trauma or past fondness of his younger days. It's also fucking hilariously funny. Think The Shaggs, Ween, and Truman's Water.
Simon passed away on 26th May 2011. Besides a bunch of cassettes that were made in the 90s, this album represents John the Rat's life's work. The lion's share of Monster Turd was recorded in 2008, with the intention of a CD release on Distraction Records. We never did have the funds to release it, and with his family's blessing, and help from a very generous bunch of folk who have crowdfunded this release, we are SO SO pleased to go all out on this one with a gatefold vinyl release and give the man, and the music, the respect that it deserves. He's John the Rat. Legacy lives on, an' that.

Rio album by Duran Duran was released Sep 22, 2009 on the EMI Latin label. The artistic progression from the band's self-titled debut to the following year's RIO was the greatest aesthetic leap of Duran Duran's career. Rio music CDs The group moved from catchy but somewhat rudimentary New Romantic synth-funk to elegantly arranged, sophisticated pop-rock, concentrating more on song structure than dance beats. Rio songs For their efforts, they were rewarded with superstar status, due chiefly to "Hungry Like the Wolf," a lascivious tune that injects a welcome dose of rock & roll guitar. The most impressive tracks on RIO, though, are the more contemplative, balladic offerings, like "Lonely in Your Nightmare," "Save a Prayer," and especially "The Chauffer," with its stream-of-consciousness lyrics and unconventional structure, arty without seeming pretentious. If you only have one Duran Duran album, it should be RIO.

American Laundromat Records had a blast working on a tribute to one of their favorite flicks of all time - the 1984 cult classic Repo Man written & directed by Alex Cox and featuring Harry Dean Stanton and Emilio Estevez. The original soundtrack celebrated the southern California punk movement of the late 70's/early 80's with bands Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Suicidal Tendencies, The Plugz, and Iggy Pop. American Laundromat Records recruited an outstanding group of artists to cover these now-classic punk tracks, including; Those Darlins, Matthew Sweet, Amanda Palmer, Mike Watt, The Tellers, Black Francis, Weekend, Polar Bear Club, Moses Coltrane, New York Rivals, and The Suicide Dolls. The 6-panel CD Eco-Wallet features original illustrations by revered rock-poster designer Lonny Unitus (Melvins, Decemberists, Willie Nelson), and includes full production/player credits and some great elements inspired from the original film. This one is a winner and highly recommended for fans of the film, classic punk, or any of the artists contributing. 5 Stars!!!

On the 10th December 2007, Led Zeppelin took the stage at London's O2 Arena to headline a tribute concert for dear friend and Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun. What followed was a two-hour-plus tour de force of the band's signature blues-infused rock 'n' roll that instantly became part of the legend of Led Zeppelin. Founding members John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant were joined by Jason Bonham, the son of their late drummer John Bonham, to perform 16 songs from their celebrated catalogue including landmark tracks Whole Lotta Love, Rock And Roll, Kashmir, and Stairway To Heaven.
Although 20 million people applied for tickets, the band's first headline show in 27 years was seen only by the 18,000 ticket holders who were fortunate enough to have secured seats through the worldwide lottery.
