Age Coin's newest recording, 'Performance,' drenches industrial-infused techno in high definition details, divining a cracked bump & flex from the condensation of a joyride. With a handful of tapes on Posh Isolation, as well as an album on Luke Younger's Alter, Kristian Emdal and Simon Formann have developed a project whose momentum and reputation has steadily escalated, finding common ground between electro-acoustic methods and quantised club nights. Both Emdal and Formann are best known as members of Lower (RIP), and both have since continued to devote themselves to a series of projects in the band's wake. Emdal has lately pivoted his time around Marching Church, a band comprised of some of Copenhagen's finest, whilst Formann has been working under the guise of Yen Towers, releasing his debut 12" on Posh Isolation earlier this year. "Trespassing on intimate territory," says Emdal of their new recording, Age Coin "cuts a transparent path for everyone to come walking." "The album is ultimately a joint effort to process past as well as present experiences within father son relations. In order to make things tangible, scenes are drawn from memory and merged in a shared fictional collage." 'Performance' thrillingly presents Emdal and Formann in a new cryptically lush aspect. There is a sense that one is watching a slide show—familiarity motions like the tide in the form of acoustic instrumentation, and porous synthesized terrains are crossed with a feeling, not a map, nor a memory. As one watches, the creeping ambience comes to be less an invasive sensation and more of a gravitational pull through time itself. It's as effortless as it is disorientating, like being stalked by a relic. Propellants ascend in to the foreground from all directions. Rhythmic NO2 afterglow comes in waves in reverse. Weightlessness is induced, and rebound. "Take in the view or let yourself be part of the language. Let the engine run and dip in to the swampy collective intelligence. 'Performance' is a hybrid memorial for all domestic actions committed in the name of love."

Benoit B returns to Banlieue for the imprints third 12"! Scatter gun arpeggios ride on top of bolstered machine rhythms. Sitting somewhere between techno and experimental electro this EP is Benoit B's most accomplished material to date.

For its fifth release, French indie label Rave Or Die introduces two new acid rave tunes. In the A side Chris Moss Acid (Don't, 030303, Shipwrec) delivered a savage acid track .On the B-Side the label boss Umwelt will imerse you in low bottom of the warehouse with a dark mental acid track.

The fourth album of Driftmachine is not an album in the classical context, it´s a collection of new studio music, remixes by Shackleton and The Sight Below, and material previously available only in digital formats.

The album starts off with the surprising Shackleton remix of Radiations, a little gem gleaming with all the spacious percussions you can expect from the British producer. Stretching vibrations over tense atmospheres and post-techno broken beats, Shackleton (who generously offered to contribute this track on his own initiative) delivers a fine feat of rhythmic acrobatics, deconstructing Driftmachine's modular synthesis. The album features Driftmachine's latest studio track, Vermiform Burrows, a swinging composition very much in line with the duo's recent rhythm-oriented work. The Sight Below's remix of Vermiform Burrows offers a very different perspective and interpretation of their music: minutely detailed and nebulous, an expansive ambient-techno track that de-accelerates the original's beat. Other surprise in store, is Call Mr. Moriba, which was originally offered as a digital-only bonus-track on the debut album Nocturnes (2014), Driftmachine's critically acclaimed first LP, and is now available in vinyl format for the first time. Also included is the original LP version of Radiations, first published in the Colliding Contours (2015) album. Driftmachine's Radiations is an excellent showcase of Andreas Gerth and Florian Zimmer's sound: obsessive, symmetrical, multilayered, a deep and elegant language based on the shaky, unpredictable foundations of modular synthesis.

Elektro Guzzi combine club music and live performance to a unique, energetic mixture. They overcome the rigid boundary of analog versus digital, unifying the human being with his machines in an unprecedented way and surprising the listener with their innovative productions. Sónar, Roskilde, Melt!, C/O Pop or Mutek are just a few stations among others, where Elektro Guzzi fascinated with their dynamic live show, without the use of computers or loops.

With their new EP - Parade , the first release on German label Denovali, Elektro Guzzi broaden their trinity of drums, bass and e-guitar. With implementing trombones as extra oscillators, dissociating them from their conventional use, the trombones become part of the human-machine-universe and are used as an additional sound source in order to modulate and explore its variety live on the stage.

The four tracks emerged from commissioned work for the Artacts Festival for Jazz and Improvised Music. They move along familiar paths, but also show some new, unusual dimensions of Elektro Guzzi. Opener - Element starts gently, bringing the trombones slowly into appearance, culminating in that driving groove, which whips the melancholic sound of the track. Title track - Parade reveals the new source of inspiration of the Vienna-based trio. From Haitian Rara music, through New Orleans brass bands to Basic Channel dub, Elektro Guzzi create rhythms beyond four-to-floor, with that special, warm vibe, which remains in the ear of the listener.

Recording, mixing and sound design results from a collaboration with sound enthusiast Nik Hummer. The - Parade -EP hypnotizes the listener with its diversity of sounds, with floating and dubby rhythms, situated in a stunning sound aesthetic, in which the feeling of its live performance is conserved.

Last Signs is Eli's first solo release since) and explores a very different side of his unique acoustic universe. One instrument and the hyper-mediated sonic ecosystem of the club sound system in which the macrocosmic percussive collisions of his earlier work give way to a gradual unfolding of dub-influenced rhythmic constellations. Eli has described Last Signs as his response to playing in club environments over the last few years, an attempt to negotiate a delicate balance between the materiality of his acoustic. Coming off like an inspired synthesis between Scientist and Xenakis, Last Signs of Speed is a truly unique work by an artist at the height of his powers.

Eli Keszler is a New York-based artist, composer and percussionist. His compositions and visual works examine the limits of instrumentation, notation, and space in its insti- tutional, musical and public form.

Eli has released solo records on ESP-Disk and PAN and toured extensively throughout Europe and the US, perform- ing solo and in collaboration with artists such as Tony Conrad, Oren Ambarchi, Keith Fullerton Whitman, Aki Onda, and Rashad Becker. Wolf Eyes' Nate Young's Regression series has provided some of the most compelling dread-electronics spewed out by the North American underground in years, with instalments released by Demdike Stare's DDS label and Aaron Dilloway's Hanson, as well as NNA Tapes and others.
It all began back in 2009 with this first volume issued by Joachim Nordwall's Ideal label, an incredible set that's now being released on vinyl for the first time ever, just in time for Wolf Eyes newly minted (Warp sponsored) Lower Floor imprint to make its debut this coming spring.
Young is one of those artists whose output is instantly recognisable, his take on primitive electronics is both innovative and unnerving, and in recent years has really dominated the stylistic direction pursued by Wolf Eyes. It's a kind of creaky, bare-boned deconstruction of classic horror scoring jolted by noise and industrial motifs, sounding somewhere between Demdike Stare's early work, John Carpenter and Mica Levi's by-now-classic soundtrack to Under The Skin.
You could neither classify Regression as a Noise record nor an Ambient one, instead the synth dissections and tape treatments more closely reference early electronic music. 'Trapped' offers little of the claustrophobia suggested by its title, although the continual woody knocking sounds and filthy oscillations do engender a sense of unease, while 'Dread' brings to mind the Desmond Briscoe soundtrack to Nigel Kneale's The Stone Tape. 'Under The Skin' returns to the more esoteric, intangible sound designs that characterised the album's opening, writhing around in a spluttering, tactile fashion that's at once sonically rather beautiful but deeply sinister, modulating through grisly synthesiser gestures while more textural, percussive sounds flood through dub-style tape delays.
Young has an uncanny ability to make sonic extremes sound incredibly seductive, and this volume is perhaps the most engrossing exposition of that unique ability.

Silent Servant founded the Jealous God label and is part of the Sandwell District collective and is rightly revered for his brooding industrial-strength techno.

Alessio Natalizia is Not Waving, one half of Walls and the founder of Ecstatic records. Here he provides a suitably avant-garde disco outing.

Yannick Labbé is back on O*RS, with two ultimate night time essentials.

Andy Stott's 4th album draws for inspiration from the fourth-world pop of Japan's Yellow Magic Orchestra as much as it does Triton-fuelled Grime made 25 years later. The album opens with the harmonised, deteriorating pads of the opening Waiting For You and arcs through to the synthetic chamber-pop of the closing title track, referencing Sylvian & Sakamoto's Bamboo Houses as much as it does the ethereal landscapes of This Mortal Coil and Dead Can Dance. In between, the climate and palette constantly shift, taking in the midnight pop of Butterflies, the humid, breathless House of First Night and the endlessly cascading Forgotten.

Longtime vocal contributor Alison Skidmore features on half the tracks, sometimes augmented by the same simulated materials; voicing the dystopian breakdown on Selfish, at others surrounded by beautiful synth washes, such as on the mercurial Over, or the dreamy, neon-lit New Romantic.
It's all far removed from the digital synthesis and the abstracted intricacies that define much of the current electronic landscape. The same cybernetic palette is here implanted into more human form; sometimes cold, but more often thrumming with life.

The first vinyl record from Betagamma bears the name of the most extraordinary and fascinating reptile.
It is no coincidence. The imprint is given by both Betagamma's main occupation and his love of minimalism and techno.
Either way, the track references science. A slightly oddish, popping groove... as if someone opened up a terrarium cage.
The record features interesting and crazy remixes, clearly everyone has their own geckos in the attic.

After a fabulous summer and a mind-blasting Krake Festival, Killekill takes its next step and kicks off another new label called VANTA SERIES, which is destined for small series of 12"es with out-standing dancefloor tracks. The name derives from Vantablack, a colour from nano technology, which is the blackest black and actually invisible. Vanta therewith stands for the total emptiness and is the perfect name for a label which does not have a defined identity itself but is a platform for different series, which will all have a concept and aesthetic in itself.
The first series is called "The End Is Near". It consists of 4 releases and comes with an artwork by French artist Elzo Durt. Every release will contain a small poster, all four posters put together become Elzo Durt's piece "Les anges de l'apocalypse".
First record is by DEZ WILLIAMS, who also released on Shipwrec and Bass Agenda recently. A-Side Acidbanger is a serious banger and has future acid classic written all over it. The B-side comes with two acid variations - one more stingy, one emotional and psychedelic - which show the potential of this outstanding producer.

* Deepblak's Chief Alchemist AYBEE will release his fourth full-length studio album, 'The Odyssey', in November 2016. As befitting its grand title, this newest long-player finds him concerned with personal journeys: both the personal one that has brought him to this point - living in Berlin, 15 years since founding Deepblak in his native Oakland - and the one that beckons for him personally and creatively in future: AYBEE sees himself as being halfway up a mountain, looking back on where he has come from, and to where he will be headed next - both concepts play a profound role in the emotional textures of the album, which in true Deepblak fashion draws from jazz, deep house, techno, hip hop, blues, experimentation, cinema, space, time and infinity.

* 'The Odyssey' represents a change-up for AYBEE in several ways, forged from a desire to keep expectations at bay and throw something of a curveball for those who felt they had him pegged: "a good pitcher always keeps you off balance". This newest work saw him deliberately limit his sound palette in a creative exercise that challenged him to create a full body of work from a small pre-selected library of sonic elements. While this was restricting in some aspects, the approach to - as he puts it - "throw the ingredients in a basket and cook with it later" gave him more freedom to focus on atmosphere and groove instead of putting hours into trying out different options - "otherwise I'd still be in the studio now trying to work out which hi-hat to use on the third track!"

* While the resulting collection of tracks, bound together in sounds used yet disparate in their applications of them, may represent a more accessible AYBEE album than those prior, it still contains within it the DNA of his work with Deepblak Rhythm Czar, Afrikan Sciences - most notably in their improvised, one-take album length Miles Davis homage 'Sketches of Space'. That 2014 LP was closely followed by another collaboration, with Jerome Sydenham and Ron Trent as S.A.T., released on the former's Ibadan Records and pursuing a more techno-driven sound to the polyrhythmic jazz experimentation of 'Sketches'. Elements of both styles can be found in 'The Odyssey', as it moves through tempos and styles, yet the approach he has taken regarding the sounds used ensures it will forever be a unique work in his discography - quite literally nothing in his work before or since will sound like this record.

* 'The Odyssey''s artwork is by the artist Grzegorz Redko , whose animations of the cover art will be released online ahead of the album release, lending another dimension to AYBEE's latest statement of artistic intent, with many more still to come as he keeps climbing that mountain.

In 2001 Aybee launched Deepblak Recordings as a creative outlet for his music. Ultimately catching the attention of Legendary House DJ/Producer Ron Trent. This chance meeting led to Trent signing Aybee to the iconic Prescription Records imprint. After joining the Prescription family AYBEE, along with Trent, would come together to co-found Prescription sub-label Future Vision, and go on to create music as the "Indigenous Space People", and later as S.A.T.

* "Ron was exposed to my music through a friend of his in NY. At this time, Ron was in the NY phase of his career and was a resident at the iconic "Giant Step" parties. I was heavily inspired by his USG output at the time, and I think it was reflected in my music. I would go out in the city to the house joints and hear all styles, but when that USG/Prescription stuff hit at like 3am, it was another level of depth... it was spiritual. "

If you're familiar with CVbox' music you know that he isn't the guy for your average Techno track. Formalistic song structures aren't his thing. When you'll start to listen to a new CVBox track you'll don't know how it will end. His music derives from his deep love for analogue gear and a pretty unique way to deal with it. On his first album "So ist es im Nadelwald" CVBox rides between the corner points of Techno, Electro and Ambient. The music is infused by an omnipresent darkness that isn't just there as an end in itself but will definitely give the thrills to listener and dancers. Some of the tracks develop a rarely heard urgency on the dance floor with those dub-influenced swirls or ever-present synth tides while simultaneously preserving a rather intimate atmosphere. Sometimes it's just an unfamiliar sound that makes the difference that simply comes out of nowhere. One thing is for certain: CVBox is all about atmosphere. As you can see by the album's artwork and title ("Nadelwald" is German for softwood forest) The album is also inspired by his passion to go into nature. When he is sick of the whirlwind that is his current hometown Leipzig he disappears into Saxony's hinterland for collecting mushrooms or just letting the thoughts flow. Alex Cortex delivering the heat!! Mr Cortex is kicking hard with a direct and mental techno tracks! Oscillon, A1, is a bleepy affair, direct and repetitive, but please, play it loud and watch. Rheometric is in the same alley as Oscillon but bringing the bleeps and glitches trip even more in your face. Combined with the fat but quirky bassline, it does the peak time techno thing extremely well. B1's title "Shear Wave" does the track justice. Backed by a fat downtempo beat, the distorted 303-reminiscent synth line cuts through the mix in a way that's impossible to ignore. Strain Rate Tensor rounds up the previous three cuts, also in a very dancefloor-friendly manner. Bubbly main lead and anxiety-inducing pad sneaking in the background seem to be the main thing, until another synth hits you as a counterpoint and flips everything upside down. Proper no-nonsens stuff!!

Token certainly have their staples - Ctrls, Ø (Phase) or Inigo Kennedy making regular appearances. The last release on Token for example, Ø (Phase)'s 'Tunnel Vision/Internal Conflict' 12' showed the producer enjoys a level of familiarity with the label, allowing him to indulge his more leftfield tendencies, resulting in some truly captivating dancefloor moments.

Just as often Token will ingratiate new talent to the roster however, continuously reshaping their boundaries. The most recent record comes from one such new addition. In the wider sense though, it'd hardly be fair to call Parisian producer Antonin Jeanson aka Antigone fresh-faced. Since debuting in 2011 on Zadig's then relatively new Construct Re-Form label, Jeanson has enjoyed an impressively consistent run of releases, despite his penchant for sounds which are a little out of the ordinary.

His inaugural release with Kr!z's Token Records, the 'Cantor Dust' EP, is similarly reflective of his inclination to mix the abstract with the functional. Jeanson's movements across the release are difficult to second guess - 'Anna Livia' opens with Klaus Schulze reminiscent, spacial electronica, yet the serenity doesn't last for long. 'Enter' asserts Jeanson's dancefloor sensibilities, chugging forward unfalteringly. The track builds at a steady pace, before the anthemic 'Prime Mover' provides a sudden release of tension. Jeanson's reverberant stabs lunge forward, driving low-end thudding militantly beneath.

From here the EP dives back into more sinister territories - the serpentine 'Voltage' or gurgling, abstract melodies of 'Astragal' have a similarly rugged texture to them. 'Artefakt' is equally muscular, and undoubtedly one of the record's most climactic moments. The interplay between rasping mechanical percussion, booming low-end and grinding drones is rushingly intense.

'Cantor Dust's structure proves well-designed to the last however. The celestial 'Blue Note' provides a moment of reflection, distant synthesisers easing out gently - an emotive chord progression floating melancholically above Jeanson's booming rhythms. It is the calm after the storm, a moment to savour, and reflect on the trip.

For over a decade Kieran has dedicated his career to producing and DJing to his very best ability, resulting in a reputation that is undoubtedly as solid as the music he makes. He has previously worked with Green Velvet, and was personally chosen by Depeche Mode to remix 'Sweetest Perfection'. Having released on ULTRAMAJIC, Hotflush, Cocoon, Turbo and his own imprint Phil Kieran Recordings, Kieran is an unwavering figure within the techno scene. His unprecedented skills in production have also meant that he's created film scores alongside David Holmes and released music under his alias Le Carousel.
Canadian Nathan Barato returns once more to Hot Creations and delivers a remix charged with his signature after-hours energy. Matrixxman switches up the mood entirely with his unyielding remixes, made entirely for the real techno-heads.

After an acclaimed album on Soma and two releases on Echocord Colour, it's time for Italian producer and sound designer Roberto Clementi to join the Kontra-Musik family. With that kind of discography, you'd expect dub and lot's of it, but this in not your average dub techno record. With the use of tape and field recordings and an array of analogue machinery Roberto Clementi has created what we would like to call an "All nighter". The steady thumps and growling dubs of the title track Diodes is the perfect welcome to a dark and smoky dance floor, and the sweeping synths and life sustaining open hihat of the last track, Into, is the perfect goodbye. Between the open and the close you have have the analogue grit and amplitude of The Optimist for peak time purposes, as well as a refreshingly dizzy-making breath of fresh air from 15 years. Afterwards, as you stumble out in the bright morning light, your head will still be echoing with Roberto Clementi's exquisite craftsmanship. Perhaps best known under his aliases Dalglish and O.S.T., Chris Douglas has been operating under the mainstream for the last 24 years, releasing on labels like Pan, Icasea, Phthalo, Highpoint Lowlife, Shitkatapult and many others.

Douglas has certainly had an interesting history and the places he's lived unquestionably define his sound. From his early beginnings in San Francisco organising parties and DJing, he relocated to Detroit where, hanging out with the likes of Underground Resistance's Mad Mike and the late James Stinson of Drexciya, he began to release his own work.

The competition in Detroit was fierce and the crowds were very particular so artists found themselves having to work a lot harder, which ultimately led to the consistent quality of the product at that time. His story then led him to Europe, after Autechre invited him to appear as their opening act during their Confield tour in 2002 and then at their curated All Tomorrow's Parties in 2003, where he finally settled in Berlin.

This time we're presenting the less familiar work of his moniker 'Rook Vallade' with a collection of his as yet unheard works from 1992-2000 - a very welcome addition to the Touchin' Bass catalogue.

The 12 tracks featured on 'Vestiges' represent Douglas' Detroit influences and early electro, techno and hiphop are all evident in these recordings. Each individual groove represents a warm and moving sound aesthetic, rich in texture and melody, providing an insight into the varying depths of machine and soul. Each track portrays a mood and feeling of its own, with the emphasis being firmly placed on the outcome and direction of each individual sound, reflecting a barrage of alternative feelings, thoughts and moods. The tracks are also documentative of Douglas' first productions working predominantly with a hardware set up.
From the clear electro influence heard on 'Aemldbr', 'Badlstmp' brings captivating warm synths with fine metallic sounds surfacing above the layers, giving this track the feeling that it is much more current than the production date suggests. The blend of wavering strings, industrial ambience and chilling synthesiser pads demonstrated in the hauntingly dramatic short piece of 'Scrintv' leads to the punctuated percussion of 'RI_25' and the heightened tension, chaos and confusion of 'RV7ScF'. 'Endtb_' is like going into the unknown, a bit like how Jacques Cousteau must have felt when first filming underwater.

Frustratingly, Douglas never seems to have gotten the recognition that he so richly deserves. His experimental attitude has always put him ahead of his time and this album still firmly places him at the forefront of electronic music. These are timeless relics from the past, coming from an era where the concept of atmospherics very much dominated the production. There may have been less to work with but Douglas has somehow captured more. Under 'Rook Vallade', his music stands the test of time.

As The Wire once wrote of him: 'His music is one of the most striking evacuations of the life of the mind that you're ever likely to hear. This still stands true to date.

An unexpected warehouse find takes us way back to the days of early R-A-V-E. Released back in 1993 on Jörg Henze's long time defunct Delirium label we see Special Agent Fuse providing two hard-edged peaktime anthems for all fans of raw and unpolished Rave music whilst the flipside provides nothing but pure Acid Gabba madness. Very limited quantity of original pressings available!

New York by way of Miami, Nick Klein has strung together an impressive discography over the last couple years releasing music for Alter, Ascetic House, and Bank among others, while at the same time handling his own Primitive Languages imprint bringing to life music by a wide range of cellar dwelling freaks. Senso Sounds drop a major release from techno heavyweight Dubfire and label boss Oliver Huntemann. Reuniting the partnership that has seen a string of seminal releases over the years in the form of their 'Elements' series, 'Humano' is the 2nd part of a continuation of this series - more weapons of grade dance-floor material from the high profile duo. Later on this year their partnership will be summarized in their 'Restrospectivo' album. Former Deep Dish man Dubfire's uncanny knowledge of how to create epic dance-floor moments is in full effect, combined with Huntemann's precision tool production techniques on the original version of the title track. Under the moniker Shed, Pawlowitz published three highly ambitious albums in which he defined his work more and more as his own way of musical narration. 'The Final Experiment' is definitely the temporary highlight of this evolution. As musical work it does establish Shed conclusively as one of the most interesting and substantial electronic music artists of our time. It carries a vibe, that links Shed to other boundary breaking artists such as Ryuichi Nakamoto, Brian Eno and Carsten Nicolai. However, Shed found a way to develop a highly individual way of communicating electronic music, that is self-sufficient. 'The Last Experiment' is a mostly homogeneous piece of work, a meditation, where the stylistic confusion seems less important than then musical statement that it represents.

/DL/MS/ is the new project of Dan Lodig and Martin Sovinz, who have joined forces for a three-track debut of jacking analogue techno that brings both artists' fortes to the table. Dan Lodig contributes the rhythmics and staggering arpeggios. Martin Sovinz complements this with the eerie keys and masterful effect use that show off his impressive skills of putting his analogue gear park to work. Far from being a one-off project, /DL/MS/ have been working on their music over the past months, and further releases on Pomelo, TRUST, and more are on the horizon.

For their second collaboration on Odio, Arcanoid and Diffuse Arc continue to define their dreamy Electro signature sound with five cuts oscillating between ambient and downtempo.

The inaugural release on Mutual Friend Recordings is a collaboration between dc Sux and label owners Our Mutual Friend.

dc Sux is a producer that caught the ear of Radiohead collaborator Nigel Godrich (Atoms For Peace, Ultraista) in 2012, remixing Ultraista's 'Bad Insect' which was mastered by Godrich himself and included on the remix package of the groups debut album. Here his track 'Tulip' is an ethereal trip anchored by a warm bottom-end.

Our Mutual Friend have been DJ'ing together for a number of years, getting together recently to combine their production talents. Their remix of dc Sux 'Tulip' is the result of several live jams with the parts and their 909 drum machine, upping the pace and reinventing it for the dance floor.

'Body of Water' from Our Mutual Friend is as lush as it hypnotic, dc Sux remix of the track takes it techno. Mastering is courtesy of Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin and the run is limited to 200 records.

Massive boogie-heavy electro from Caustica Waveform main man Diffuse Arc on his fourth release, proper analog goodness!

Will Saul's AUS Music has seen a number of new additions to the roster this year as the label continues to prosper. Now - adding to names such as Timothy Blake, Geeman and Escape, AUS welcome in another auspicious producer by the name of Fold. Having released records on Man Make Music and Electric Minds - Fold lines up his 'Netflix & Chill' EP: a potent stack of Hip-Hop indebted House tracks backed up by the extolled and shady Kassem Mosse on remix duties. 'Calmer Mood' kicks things off, hopping between bpms and driving grubby and groovy samples over a rough kick. Filters control builds peaks and troughs guaranteed to set things off before 'Wallop' rattles off with powerful 909 drums and truncated samples in a manner that will please fans of his 'Mr Wood' no end. 'Dreamscape' then melds deftly chopped breaks with Jazz melodies to set a rich, blue tone that's propelled into overdrive by splashing drum solos stitched together with flare. Workshop owner Kassem Mosse then offers up his interpretation of 'Dreamscapes' and in doing so introduces a subtle degree of melancholy to the original that links rich, spectral pads with tumbling breaks and delayed Sax stabs that round off another fine addition to AUS' catalogue.

Australian producer Knightilfe returns with his most refined release to date, inspired this time by the rawness of early house and balearic sounds.
After a three year hibernation following 2011's I Want You EP, Knightilfe finally returned to the fold with his Tangerine Dream-inspired cut Don't Stop opening Cut Copy's Oceans Apart compilation, a collection of Australia's foremost producers in which he featured alongside fellow Melbourne dance royalty Tornado Wallace, Andras Fox and Roland Tings. Don't Stop was then released as an EP in early 2015, which also featured a cosmic rinse of the title track by Running Back and Rush Hour's disco don Suzanne Kraft alongside an original acidic number titled Interstate 08.

Having since relocated to the UK, supporting Cut Copy DJs on their recent tour of the USA and headlining Cooper Saver's decadent Far Away party in Los Angeles, Gamwell is set to round out 2015 with the release of his four-track EP VII. A refinement of the hedonistic sounds from his previous releases, this record reveals a concoction of house, acid and slow-burning balearic rhythm structures, stripping back the layers and re emerging from the haze.

Leisure System alum Kommune1 has been a fixture of the extended Infinite Machine family for a while now, but it's only now that he finally graces us with an EP's worth of originals. "Immolate" is easily his most accomplished work to date, seamlessly integrating his many influences into a cohesive, absorbing whole.
Lead track "Galax(o)" is an electronic music scholar's dream, rife with nods to all of its eras and walks, layered akin to the notes and chords of a perfume. Its ideal candidacy as object of analysis aside, however, this is no home-listening fodder; but a singular techno belter, equally capable of peak-time sustenance or 5am catharsis. Its most easily distinguishable tips-of-the-hat are to early Kevin Saunderson, via its reese-led construction, and to Burial-circa-Loner, via its desolate, dubbed-out atmosphere, ghostly vocal interjections and no-nonsense 4/4 pulse. "Phlaetus" continues the story, less concerned with the dancefloor but, paradoxically, more insistent on rhythm, weaving UKG skip, step and shuffle into the steel-reinforced concrete of the techno backbone.
"Axiom", on the other hand, is an exercise in suspended animation, seemingly capturing an ideal moment in time and repeating it every other beat...; only gradually introducing achronic artifacts that seem to gently hold the listener's hand throughout the hypnotic progression. For their remix, Effy don't stray too far from the original, but apply a melodic techno masterstroke, in the form of an infectious, otherworldly synth riff. It pervades the entirety of their take, filtering in and out, unwavering.

'On Before Off' is stripped to the bare bones techno with ever contorting razor-sharp arpeggios. As a counter balance, 'Although Sometimes Appear' is deep, emotive, melodic house with sound system-shaking bottom end.

UK house veteran Phil Asher arrives on Rekids with the latest project in his storied career, a collaboration with emergent London poet & musician James Massiah. Having chanced upon him a performance during a Fiona Bevan Presents night at Dalston's Servant's Jazz Quarters, Asher immediately approached Massiah about a possible collaboration: "As soon as I heard James I knew I had to work with him. His poetry is infectious, textured & interesting. 'Time & Space' took years to imagine but 25 minutes to write. It took James approximately the same amount of time to lay his poem down."
Asher approached Matt Edwards with the results, and the Time & Space EP was confirmed for release on Rekids: two original cuts of futuristic house emboldened by Massiah's electrifying street poetry, and a reprise version of the title track which steps away from the dancefloor to bring the lyrical content into sharper focus.

Dance Tracksz is the body-checking return of Prostitutes to Diagonal, a no pretences rave set built minimal and raw for hard worked 'floors. The label's Cleveland, Ohio ambassador has cut out any sentimentality and gone straight for the rave jugular with no concession to ascetic consistency, knocking up one of his fiercest examples of brutalist funk in the process It's Prostitutes' 3rd and most substantial release for Diagonal, a swaggering and unzipped affirmation of the styles on 2013s Shatter And Lose and Ecstasy, Crashing Beats And Fantasy from 2015, and clearly catches the label's close ally in the mood for getting wasted.Prostitutes' Dance Tracksz are skooled with the sort of street knowledge and bluntness that perhaps comes from life as a Technopunk in a blue collar industrial city such as Cleveland, OH: the bullish, PCP-style hardcore bookends of Ah Yeah and War Goes On say their piece in no uncertain terms, whilst Bottle spits pure industrial street funk and Prey deals in riot-inciting jungle-tekno.
Even the album's sole moment of sentimentality, I Luv U Bruv
- a gesture of affection for his label boss, Powell - is delivered with an acrid lash of electro-techno, but at least you know he means it. In a soundworld spoilt for choice, Prostitutes' refusal of shiny tricks is admirable and almost subversive in the face of hands-in-the-air breakdowns, but there's something about the way he wrenches out every last drop of rusty, jacking funk from his machines that leaves no doubt about Dance Tracksz

Poverty is violence return once more deliberately shaking up the place and blurring the house / techno divide, label owners Tapirus aka Rotterdams underground techno hero Charlton and Nick Dunton of legendary techno label Surface and 65D Mavericks fame serve up a split EP... Nick throws an early stone into the water as he makes his comeback with the new and deliberately quirky D-56M side-project fusing techno and oddball Chi-Town weirdness, incorporating concepts from Zamyatin's We, he turns in two hybrid ghetto bangers.

First up Charles takes his cue from early acid house, fusing it with techno sensibilities and turning styles on their heads with end time basses, insane bleeps and left of centre attitude. A1 is a tough rolling acidic banger with cutting beats. The super killer A2 which has been getting hammered around Europe the last year is a highlight - pure manicness and not for the faint hearted. A3 is reminiscent of Larry Heard's early output - DX7 bass lines, beautiful melodies and lush strings fuse to create a searching acid house vibe.

On the flip AA1's French Cats is full of jazz influence... super rolling basses and Wurlitzer keys helping to carve a fresh house sound that takes Randomer-esque influences and jacks them to hell. AA2 is the super smooth but anarchic Question Authority full of sweet melodies, strings, chords, rolling old skool riffs and a super sub bass fused with dark voices - it's purist Non-conformity with attitude, swing and message.

This EP is already getting caned by the more adventurous DJs on the circuit - Stand for something or fall for anything is the labels tag-line and you can expect more heavy hitters blurring the genre lines soon with a super-secretive project already in production from one of the world's top players...

DSC welcomes back Boris Bunnik, this time under his Conforce moniker. Two contrasting tracks are the offering. Heavy thump introduces Kernal of Truth. Angular melodies are painted on glass as a complex composition unfurls under the strain of galvanized percussion. The aquatic "Oasis" occupies the flip. Notes gentle lap a shoreline of burbling bass and distant percussion. Echoes are submerged, folded in on themselves, as absorbing ambience envelops. Two wonderfully different sides to the Conforce sound.

The album 'A Little Comedy, A Little Drama' by Dusty Baron is the result of collaboration of Moldavian fellows Eugen Kara, Ivan Slivka and Dima Scripnic.This collaboration has been lasting in the course of 2016, with miscellaneous recordings at home studios, including Moldavian Radio and Television Studio.
Inspired by French and Italian psychedelic electronic music of 60s and 70s, cartoons and the comedian genre of absurd, the trio tried to incarnate their vision of the Space into a LP comprising 13 tracks. Vintage synthesiser lines and classic drum machines create a hugely entertaining blend intoxicated with universal love. Now and then you trace the combinations of techno rhythms rushing into the futuristic vertical, and sometimes the sound transforms into a blend of absolute and exotically influenced reverie.

With steady basslines, vocal hooks and wiggly acid overtones, all four tracks have to be described as floor-fillers that more than capably stand up to home listening.

Swimming In Light is a gripping durational study in perpetual tension and release by a gifted double bass soloist, Mike Majkowski, for the ever-curious ntr'acte label.
It's the Australian composer's 6th solo album since his debut, Ink On Paper (2008) and possibly the strongest demonstration of his innovative extended technique, deployed in two subtly contrasting yet equally hypnotic sides.
Using rapid bowing technique to paradoxically generate ostensibly static, sine wave-like tones, coupled with analogue synth, vibes, piano, percussion and field recordings, Majowski explores the perceptions of 'stillness' and 'movement' which give dynamic form to the content of musical composition.
Effectively, the Berlin-based artist makes his main instrument sound electronic, yet due to the acoustic harmonic richness it's capable of, the results render a much lusher, immersive, and subtly chaotic spectrum of spectral sonics than one might typically expect from purely electronic sources.
In multiple parts, the shimmering swell of Radio Weather Vending Machine offers a cyclical resolution of hi-speed ostinato gesture, the sound of the gesture, and the overtones which exist independent of that gesture; in effect creating a sort of Nth variable which he attempts to isolate and intensify over the course of the piece, conjuring a clammy, paranoid atmosphere recalling Harley Gaber's Winds Rise In The North in the process.
However, the B-side, Structure and Posture appears to operate on the flipside of that wave, dissipating the tension into slow, swooning contours giving rise to a glowing aurora of consonant overtones, which, once you've settled into their shadows, begin to deeply recall the doom jazz introspection of Bohren Und Der Club of Gore or the exquisiteness of Elodie stretched into the horizon.

Scrape starts with a slow minimalistic acid bomb tones aimed to burn the dancefloor. Side B continues with Meltdown, a dub track where the chords slowly progress to their peaks, underlined by a heavy kickdrum. The E.P. finishes with Flotation, keeping its core minimalistic concept, full of sub bass and high treble, reminiscing of early Hood or Mills.

On this new record hailing from Aarhus, Central delivers a more or less floor friendly collection of works. With his curious and unorthodox approach to dance music, this EP offers 4 very different pieces of music. The opening track Fresh Context a vivid yet robust house jam is followed by the spontaneous and unpolished Gentle Vertigo. B side starts off with Fell, a moody and eerie spin in experimento land. The final track Kessem is a melodic and punchy cut. Central delivered releases on Nord Records and Yield earlier this year, revealing respectively a darker techno game and a loose house vibe. 'Monday Mellow' is a dubbed out, twisted and subtly emerging house groover, while 'Wednesday Something' continues the journey with a dense electronic jazz-tinged stomper. 'Thursday, Heavy.' demonstrates their full range, combining eerie melodic synth excursions with a jagged bassline - an out of this world, destructive yet classy house bomb. As always their intergalactic excursions are superbly executed. Let's give them some rest on those Tuesdays.
