London’s Axe On Wax Records have been coordinating a quality stream of house since 2014, a trend that continues with their latest release from Zopelar vs Brothermartino. Creating a fraternal connection between Brazil and Italy, these are six tracks of woozy, charismatic house funk of the finest pedigree.

Zopelar - one half of Apron Records associates My Girlfriend - takes the first-side easing in with 'Fin', a starry-eyed and expansive instrumental that let us know immediately what his synths can do. Taking this shimmering sound, he adds distinct pressure funk on the bubbling, West Coast groove of the tellingly titled, ‘Funky Juno’, which delights with sensual vocoder and tough drums. ‘Thamis’ is left to take things in a more psychedelic direction, with Zopelar pushing his studio into fizzy, almost anti-gravitational territory.

On the flip, Brothermartino (Money $ex Records) establishes a sensual atmosphere with the lo-slung slap of ‘For 8 Freakin' Hours’, followed by ‘Dem Type Stars’, which stretches out the acidic funk, creating wormholes of spectral grooves. The release closes with the warm and nostalgic ‘We All Love People Who Die’, a cool, beatless interjection loaded with the charm of a cult film soundtrack.

Kerri Chandler’s iconic ‘Track 1’ stands to date as one of Madhouse Records’ most notable releases in the label’s rich back-catalogue. Originally released in 1993 as part of the Atmosphere EP Vol 1, ‘Track 1’ quickly became a core reference for the foundation and formation of the New Jersey house sound, with the track later re-released in 2016 titled as ‘The Way It Goes’ with Denari joining Chandler on vocals. However, this summer sees the legendary imprint unveil a new fresh take on the production courtesy of PIV records co-owner and fast-rising house favourite Chris Stussy, with the bubbling Amsterdam-based artist offering up two fresh reworks this June as he returns to Madhouse following recent material via the likes of Eastenderz, Robsoul, Berg Audio and Moscow Records.

Harnessing the originals iconic bassline offering his own interpretation on its arrangement, the Dutchman introduces a combination of resonant leads and classy sun-soaked melodies alongside Denari’s infectious vocals throughout to offer up a slick slice of house music, whilst the Dub introduces rolling percussion alongside trademark low-slung rhythms, electric piano lines and dubbed-out chords to offer an after-hours rework of the classic production.

No Fuss presents Saison for their 5th vinyl release. A collection of some of the duo's finest work. A1 is Saison's take on French artist N-You-Up's Vibin' which has been a huge track for the label. A2 is Saison's original "One Day" which has been a favourite of Chicago legend Chez Damier and a stable in all of his sets over the past year. B1 is another Saison rework from N-You-Up with jazzy riffs and jacking swinging drums. Finally B2 is a classic Saison sound in full effect. Sazerac is a Jazz fuelled driving track that has all the elements that's given Saison the sound they are known for.

The sixth edition of Defected’s vinyl series continues to commit the labels’ biggest digital releases to wax, delivering upfront packages of house heat previously unavailable on vinyl. Kicking off the A-Side is Ferreck Dawn’s solo Defected debut ‘You Are The One’, a self-assured club track featuring a cut-up sample from Jocelyn Brown’s timeless classic ‘Somebody Else’s Guy’. Up next is Qubiko’s ‘U R’, a bumping, grooving dancefloor cut from the Italian DJ. On the B-Side Todd Edwards & Sinden storm in with their UKG influenced ‘Deeper’, featuring chopped-up vocal sampling, time shifts and kick drums. The release is rounded off with Alaia & Gallo’s ‘Trippin’’, with an irresistible deep and driving bassline, the gospel vocal trio Dames Brown lend their soulful tones to cover the Y2K classic ‘It’s Love’ by Jill Scott.

With MEL016, Melodies International are extremely proud to take one more step into house territory with their reissue of what certainly constitute the two most exciting remixes of Flame by UK Trip Hop group Crustation: New York House legends Mood II Swing’s Vocal and Borderline Insanity Dub mixes. John Ciafone and Lem Springsteen from Mood II Swing grew up and met in New York City in the early 90s. They were club kids with roots in early hip hop, soul and disco and soon decided to start producing together. After a fateful encounter with Louie Vega from Masters At Work, Ciafone and Springsteen committed to pursue dance music, and given the opportunity started releasing their own records that would lead them to settle in as genre defining house producers celebrated by their contemporaries back then whilst informing and influencing the styles of many eminent dance music producers of today. Flame was originally produced by Crustation, a Trip Hop group from Bristol formed by Ian Dark, Stig Manley, Mark Tayler and singer Bronagh Slevin, as part of their last album Bloom originally released in 1997 on Jive. The same year, Jive released a string of remixes including two from Mood II Swing included here on this release.

Set against the backdrop of Birmingham in1990, a 17 year old Peter 'Doggy' Duggal, inspired by Cybotron and Kraftwerk, would escape to his bedroom with the few pieces of musical hardware he'd collected, spending days eking out what sounds those machines could produce, thankfully Peter remained resolute and what resulted was his first EP 'Psyche' originally released on the pioneering UK label Rham! Records.

'Psyche' itself is an absolute gem, an infectious and unrelenting bass-line drives the track, while dystopian chords and strings populate the higher end. Next up previously unreleased 'Haze' heads into breakbeat territory, a sparser live jam recorded straight from the desk, but there's no shortage of bass bin rattling sub-bass, bleeps and emotion here. 'Dog Food's ominous intro gives way to pounding drum machine rhythms, more incessant bass, melancholic melodies and subtle breakdowns that keep the warehouse energy flowing. Rounding off this EP is the previously unreleased 'Psyche' (Alternative Mix), adding subtler bleeps, another genre defining classic that would give the original mix a run for it's money anywhere.

''Psyche' has been legitimately re-released with the full involvement of Peter Duggal and features previously unreleased tracks and never heard before versions that Peter has unearthed from his DATs. 3D or not 3D, that is the question. The answer, in this particular case, is sort of. Yes, it is the 3D(ream) Team of Howells (D for Danny), Emerson (D for Darren) and Seaman (D for Dave). The three musketeers who since 2017 have harnessed their considerable talents to deliver expertly curated back to back DJ sets and finely crafted slabs of dancefloor goodness via the good ship Selador.

This time round, however, it’s 3D squared. Whilst scrupulously observing the Rule of 6, three fellow travellers from around the globe have been invited to join our motley crew, bringing their remix expertise to the (legal, socially distanced) party.

These are challenging times but music remains the best panacea. And while all three offerings here are deserving of your attention in their own right, what unites them is a mastery of soothing atmospherics, a sonic blanket to wrap around yourself. All will transport you to the dancefloors we yearn to be on right now, but each mix also doubles up as an electronic balm custom made for your headphones.

First up we asked legendary German genre-straddler Ian Pooley to take the controls and re-work Darren’s paean to pioneering New York imprint ‘Sleeping Bag' from this year’s trilogy-completing third EP in the series. We are rewarded with a characteristically mesmeric slice of hypnotic funktronica.

When we asked Jimpster to remix Danny Howells ‘Earthings X’ , he said he was delighted to be remixing Danny, as he was a big fan, and also Danny was jumping for joy (literally) when Jimpster said he would remix it. Mutual appreciation, at its finest. The remix is a filthy slab of dance floor goodness, timeless yet fresh.

Rounding off the EP, Re.You get to grips with Dave Seamans gem ‘Rodales’ (read it backwards). Wonky melodics, a bubbling bassline and general goodness, ooze from its every pore here.

Hailed as the king of the modern Balearic sound Mikhail Khvasko aka A Vision of Panorama makes his debut on Omena with another must have EP.

Imagine if Nu Guinea would organize a jam session with Metro Area and set up the following rules - combine doses of slow paced disco, hints of boogie, a dash of jazz and deep layers of house.
Mikhail's music has always been warm and dreamy combined with impeccably tight drum programming. It is no wonder why his music is played & charted by Lexx, Detroit Swindle, Kenneth Bager, Session Victim and many more...

It's been a while since his last EP, but this one sounds like he's nailed it again. Focused strictly on deep house with an atmospheric vibe, Brad P's new break from his earlier projects (which he put on pause after 2015), certainly shows us he is still driving in the deep house lane with first-rate keybord playing on top of his usual chord & bass-lined grooves. Previously found on labels such as Moods and Grooves, Seventh Sign, Altered Moods and Black Key, he is back as he gears up to release more of his music through his own imprint Inner Shift. All mid and slow tempo deep house lovers, get onto this.

What a privilege it is to continue this series of reworks and remasters on Food Music and this time we’ve got "I’m Rushing” from Bump!! The original from 1992 was (and still is) one of the most infectious house records ever made, with it’s uplifting synth patterns and vocals filling the air with pure joy and happiness. In addition to a re-master on the well known original, the new reworks here bring “I’m Rushing” bang up to date in impeccable style. Chambray leads the charge with an uplifting new synth pattern and pounding drums which compliment the original so well. Theo Kottis steps up with a beautiful mix that adds an Italo twist to complete a killer reworks package. Don’t sleep on this one.

Here comes the second Toy Tonics EP by Joel Holmes & Cody Currie.
The new Berlin based duo that works on a fresh musical style that combines Jazz, broken beats, Soul and NY House.
Joel, the American jazz pianist, is a former member of Roy Hargrove’s Grammy winning Jazz-Hop band and member of Carl Craig’s synthesizer ensemble. Joel is living in Berlin now, where he is involved in the new vibrant Neo-Jazz scene. (Yes! Berlin used to be a Techno city, but it’s becoming a Jazz town now!)
In Berlin Joel throws monthly jam sessions (the Urban Base Jam) where the creme de la creme of Berlins ex-pad jazz musicians meets up. Crazy things can happen here. Like when Erykah Badu played Berlin in 2019 and her complete band came to jam at Joel’s session after their gig.
Joel teamed up with Cody Currie: 24 year old London born talent, who already made waves in the house scene. Cody is known as a stylized producer, with a unique recognisable sound. Much of his craft was homed in studying a bachelors in music in London. His most known work by now might be a jazzy reinvention of ‘Devils Shoestring’ with over half a million plays on SC and YT. With his new works Cody is coming away from sampling, working only with live instrumentation.
Joel & Cody both live in Berlin now where they met Toy Tonics head honcho Mathias „Kapote“ Modica. And when they met there was a vibe instantly. All three have their roots in jazz music and share similar ideas about how dance-music should evolve in 2020

The T.E.N.S label is a home for noted and unknown producers alike to work freely, removing any prior associations, using only pseudonyms.

Tibi Dabo is the latest project from Barcelona born DJ and producer Max Guardans.
Following on from last year’s La Dorada on Rebellion, he brings his enigmatic sonic
exploration to Crosstown this May.

The EP opens up with the gentle yet thudding bass of Her Moon. The track is ten minutes
of pure euphoria. Mesmerising cosmic synths travel towards the first breakdown where the
track enters a darker phase before they weave their way back in as a 90s inspired piano
topline joins proceedings. It’s All Behind takes the EP on a deeper trip with an emotive,
soulful, vocal and shimmering melodies. Closing the EP, Nowhere Beach deploys a rapid
beat with industrial hints and a rolling bassline, whilst keeping the cosmic feel of its
predecessors. A warm synthline uplifts in the breakdown.

The alias of Max Guardans, Tibi Dabo is also the name of a mountain that overlooks
Guardans’ hometown of Barcelona. Under this alias the young DJ and producer seeks to
explore and experiment with a wide and varied sonic soundscape. His first EP, 2017’s
Ende, was signed to Sasha’s highly acclaimed label, Last Night On Earth. Last year’s
offering La Dorada was picked up by Damian Lazarus who signed it to his Rebellion
imprint, with both EPs showcasing Guardans’ ability to create evocative music that shows
a musical maturity beyond his years.

5 years, after his debut „The Being Of The Beautiful“ (ILYA) was recommended „for every shelf “ by Das Filter, Philipp Priebe inaugurates his STÓLAR imprint and opens with an EP, that is acting as a prequel of sorts to his debut album. Titlecut „The Clouds All Form A Geometric Shape“ leads on the release, fusing dusty drum sounds, a funk infused bass line and hazy, ethereal pads while the focal stages ease in an amalgamation of resonant
acidting ed flutters, metallic chimes, wind instruments and a baroque dynamism from the rhythmic elements. „St.Peters“ opens the BSide next, laying focus on crunchy, swinging drums, choppy bass stabs and intricately unfolding resonant synth licks before an enchanting organ line is introduced to carry the groove for the rest of the composition. Kim Brown then round out the release with their take on „St.Peters“, reworking the original with their own twist , bringing the rhythmic elements to the forefront in the mix and introducing their own playful acid tinged bass hook ebbing and flowing amongst the original’s cinematic elements.

Tel Avivian producer Spark O first E.P for the Confused Machines imprint - Variations in Intensity delivers 5 cuts + 2 remixes (by dutch producer Klankman & long time musical partner Mule Driver) freeing House and Techno from any convention by using live to tape hardware jams and placing them in an intuitive and 'under produced' form of electronic dance music that keep the result as live and dirty as possible

Italian siblings, The Robinson, deliver a mesmerizing triplet of tracks on the ‘Nightmares’ EP, having popped up recently on Futureboogie’s 2020 Summer Riot IX EP. And the FBR HQ has been all of a quiver after one of the deep house scene’s most prominent and revered figures, Ron Trent, blessed the release with a fine remix in his own inimitable style.

With only a couple of releases on RYE Records behind them, The Robinson are clearly fully formed already, as evident on ‘Burnout’, a sprawling and luscious house joint that’s replete with melodic emotion and rhythmic power.

Having been responsible for so many classic jams over the years (‘Altered States’ recorded & released at the age of 16, nuff said!). Through his productions on the mighty Prescription Records, Peacefrog, Future Vision and so many more, Ron Trent is the epitome of classy, deep vibes, and he stamps his sound onto a fantastic remix ‘Burnout’ with elegance and grace.

In fact, the other original cuts here, ‘Nightmares’ and ‘Matrix’ owe much to the sounds honed by the likes of Ron Trent and other Chicago and Detroit pioneers, as crunchy drum machines, emotive string synths, haunting vocals and sparse yet stirring basslines are all the ingredients needed for the timeless sound and energies contained within these cuts.

Vantane's "They Called Him Little Prince" is the first release of a newly established label from Brixton called Top Brick Records. The title track kicks off proceedings with a hypnotising piano sample soon accompanied by a preaching vocal and screeching synths. Chez Toi follows similar suit this time in the form of grey strings. Add dusty highs, throbbing bass stabs and kooky synths you are left with a complete sense of mystery throughout the whole track. "Looking away" ties up the Mini EP nicely with trancey synths and twinkly atmospheres throughout creating a highly emotive sign out.

Forriner are Lee Forster (Last Waltz) and Oli Warriner (Traela) Having both previously released material under their respective projects on labels such as... ESP Institute, Mule Musiq, Hhatri and World Unknown to name a few. The duo released their first offering on Futureboogie Recordings to great success, picking up airplay on BBC Radio 1. With material on Man Powers - MeMeMe and a forthcoming release on Father & Son Records and Tapes, Poland. This is the first release on their brand new imprint, "Forriner Music" The release features two Forriner originals whilst collecting remixes from underground heavyweights, Persus Traxx and Frank Butters.

For the release's 35th anniversary, Saunders has re-mastered and reissued the original alongside a stellar host of remixers. Seeing the light of day on fledgling label OSNS Records (Old School / New School), the A side features the classic original as well as host from fellow house music legend, Chicago's Paul Johnson. The flip side meanwhile, features new remixes from two contemporary Berlin-based acts, Arms & Legs' Kristin Velvet and Beste Modus and Elevate boss, Cinthie. Featuring three dancefloor-inspired remixes, this is a release that pays homage to the original's charms in impressive fashion. "

A great strong man with a brush in his hand once said: everything you can imagine is real and art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. So is making music just another form of keeping a diary In terms of Ana Helder, the Argentinian girl with the special twist, the answer is: maybe. More than two years after her last release on Cómeme she is back with a hand full of tracks. Five to be precise. She got more, but this is what the Müstique's received. They are mean, dirty, harmful, amorevolous, seductive and addictive. Surrender tunes from a producer and DJ that does not think in boxes. Her three Eps 'El Groove De Tu Corazón', 'Fiebre De Marte' and 'Beating PC' mark some warped grooving heights in the edgy catalogue of Matias Aguayo's label Cómeme. Also on the French label Astro Lab she already dropped the 12inch 'Soy Canalla' with a playful psyche tune, that additionally got remixed by folks like Les Disques De La Mort seducer Ivan Smagghe or the mysterious West-German ghost-(w)rid(t)er Frank West. Furthermore, she re-tuned tunes from Chilean friends like Alejandro Paz or Mamacita and sang on songs of colleagues. For Müstique she now looked into her always-growing production crate and found some post-punk waving funk odes, which want more than just to dance this mess around. They bring soulful LSD-melodies for Jazz lovers with techno legs that like to get high on Liquid Liquid. They are electronic but yet so organic. And they move deeply while spreading the feel of a meditative rest. When Diagnose heard them first, he came to the idea of writing a script for a flick that tells the story of a music-making machine, which has more to offer than answers. It forms sound with no traces of reality, but is so human that humans fear it. Why did he think that way Only because of what Ana Helder recently got to say Well, let the music play...

Andrew Soul hails from Bari / Italy and has been releasing Jackin House Jams on quite a few Vinyl labels already, most prominently on Snuff Trax. For S4AW he's gone back to his Deep House roots, teaming up with Hard Ton from Venice. They've released records on a variety of tier 1 House labels like Permanent Vacation, Toy Tronics, Bordello A Parigi and many more...
On here they're delivering two fresh, synth-heavy Disco tunes with lots of full range vocals, lovely basslines and a little black magic, too.Nico Lahs is hailing from Bari, too and is known for his jams on Ovum, Pokerflat & Rawax. His remix adds some heavy chords and lots of bomping beats to the original tune. One to get the party started! The EP is closed by an Andrew Soul solo tune, a druggy cowbell jam called Your Breath - only for da real headz!"

As we get ready to seclude ourselves for another long Winter, Area provides the soundtrack. This EP is some of the most beautiful shit we've heard in a long time. Act Natural Records kicks off 2015 with the 'My Libellule' EP from Dan Noël & Bunte Bummler, comprising three original tracks from the duo.

The imprint has come a long way since its launch in early 2011 with four years under its belt and a catalogue featuring reputable names such as Huxley, DJ W!ld, Julian Perez and East End Dubs. Here we see the label push on with a collaborative release from Swiss producer Dan Noel, most notably known for his work on Memoria Recordings and Little Helpers, and Germany's Bunte Bummler of Cécille Records / 8Bit fame.

Donny Benét. You know the name by now. Man of the people. Wielder of synths. Virtuosic in style, both aural and visual. Sydney's undisputed master of conduction through seduction. The man has an almost otherworldly control over his music and his crowd. One slap of the bass and the world melts at his feet. One outrageous synth solo after the other and the competition falls around him. Donny Benét makes you sweat. Donny Benét brings the heat. We are unbelievably honoured to have Donny Benét make his Plastic World debut with "Working Out", a pulsating ode to the things in life that get you perspiring. "Working Out" is a tune take the trademark sound that Donny has spent years mastering, and invigorates it further with new sides to him that you never knew you needed. The same dripping bass and suggestive synths, but now they are framed behind the driving four-four kicks of a drum machine. This is music made for movement. Donny has more: "Everyone loves to work up a sweat in all aspects of life - exercising, working hard, making love, making music - it's all there in this song. "I was on a bike ride (I cycle most days for a few hours), which is usually where I have written all of the songs that I"m most happy with. It was quite a busy day where I ride, there were heaps of people out working up a sweat. Cycling can be quite rhythmic and I'd worked up a tempo in no time and some ideas for a song came - I then passed a couple of girls in active wear and one of them was wearing a shirt with the text "Working Out" written on it. That just seemed like the perfect vibe for the tempo I was at...

After a smooth debut on Kyoku Records, Copenhagen-based Dorsi Plantar joins team Better Listen for a four track EP of bright, heady grooves. The A-side leans more on the afro-latin and jazzy side of things, while the flip dives deep into disco. Fans of BLR's previous outings and the likes of other imprints such as Sleazy Beats Black Ops will not be disappointed.

As Hudd Traxx approach their 15th anniversary year, Iron Curtis steps up for a mini album split in 2 parts. As a long-time label collaborator and friend, it’s no surprise that Curtis delivers his 5th and 6th EP for the label. Total Art Of Living contains straight up house jams, hints of techno, nods to broken beat, references to Detroit and a few interludes for good measure. These new cuts are further proof that Iron Curtis music has always celebrated the deepest foundations of house and all its varieties, whilst resolutely refusing to get nostalgic. Curtis’ previous 4 Hudd EPs have gone on to be classics, Total Art Of Living has all the ingredients to become a future classic too.
