Tomoki Tamura's Holic Trax label has long been renowned as a canny exporter of clued in house and techno. Their latest continues in this regard, as Tamura again calls on a series of renowned label friends to bring the heat. With names such as Mr.G, Satoshi Tommie and Tuccillo all appearing it here alongside Tamura himself, it's no surprise that this 3 x vinyl record, celebrating 5 years of the label, is filled with drama and high points throughout.
This is immediately obvious from Mr.G's "Soba Shioyaki". Titled in homage to the label's Japanese heritage, it's a dark and dexterous workout that marks another high point in a career filled with big records. Deep but tough, it's a perfect of why the tech house master is so revered in underground circles. G's "Komorebi" puts a tough emphasis on the drums, as well as a weaving, subtle baseline that adds a further dynamic to his work here.
HT24 comes from Satoshi Tommiie & Tuccillo, two producers whose sounds are perfectly suited to Holic's output. Their four-track contribution starts with "Do It", a spiky catchy number that's exciting from the off. "What Row" sees the boys inject some added funk into the equation, before "To Ray" ups the intensity with a raw, pulverising aesthetic that takes no prisoners. Wrapping up their side of the bargain is the digital only "You Know", a real bumper of a track with Chicago-inspired synth stabs that help bring it to higher planes.It's the left to Tamura himself to close the offering via HT25. A1, the appropriately named "5ive Years' is a techno workout of the type that's notable for its off-kilter motifs and a stubborn, industrial feel. Unforgiving and full of atmosphere, it's the sign of a producer who clearly knows his way around he mixing deck. "Polyphonic Six" displays the producer's more introspective sound thanks to a melancholic perspective that's hard not to embrace. All things told, this is a wonderfully diverse package from Tamura & co. Here's to the next 5!

Emotional Response again teams up with Meda Fury and Sad City to present an EP of remixes from the acclaimed debut album, Shapes In Formation. Enlisting a killer tag-team of DJ Nature, HOLOVR and Herron to bring their own retakes of Gary Caruth's music, arrives with justified anticipation.

The success of Sad City's debut opus was a deserved conclusion to a journey across third world ambient, found sound samples and jazz-touched beats. All are reworked and expanded here while retaining the artist's all encompassing atmospheric oeuvre.

First Milo Johnson dons his DJ Nature moniker for two mixes of Steady Jam. The stand out of the album for many, it seemed right to request Milo's skills to push the sample-based loops to a deep dance floor. Rolling congas, skipping hats and the teasing, soulful melodies come together to work their magic. Vocal and Dub are crafted and cut as one long-form take for the more adventurous, this is dub-disco for the today's real (to reel) entertainers.

Side two is given over to rising names in HOLOVR and Herron. With releases on Opal Tapes, Further and Firecracker Recordings, Jimmy Billingham 303-infused sound is perfect in reshaping Caruth's trip that is Pace, Movements I-IV. Building slowly with trademark 909 meets acid, kick eventually arrives to take the remix beyond head nodding to swinging minds and hearts.

The EP closes with a perfect dismantle and rebuild by Manchester's Herron. A man of talents, Sam Lewis is pushing his City's cultural landscape via the Soup Kitchen venue, co-running the on-point Meandyou Records, while still having time to record solo as Herron and for Hinge Finger as one half of CO/R, alongside label head Joy Orbison. The glitch beats, drone synthesis and orchestral vocal snatches of Rain fuse and percolate in the mind's eye. Sad City. Reshaped in transformations.

Shaun Escoffery's soulful house anthem complete with Spinna mixes repressed for the first time in 15 years. The original had been fetching a fair amount on the cogs so here's your chance to add it to the collection and not break the bank.

Christopher Rau is one of Smallville's steady mainstays, with "Yamato" he is delivering four tracks, that perfectly describe the seductive cosmos of Smallville's sound. There is nods to the past as well as a paved way to a timeless future. Carefully evolving melody, voices and something caressing from somewhere far away- but within your heart in just a moment. It's bubbling and telling stories from the inside but it's still targeted straight to a dancefloor- dedicated to the sweetest ones of the world.

"In 2017, D'Marc Cantu released the critically-acclaimed "The Lodge" LP on Altered Moods, which was the first chapter in a two-part story. The second part is now incoming, in the form of a remix EP of one of the most popular cuts on the album, "S. E. G."
The new record contains both the original track and three remixes created by both up-and-coming and legendary artists in the industry. It closes the story of D'Marc Cantu stepping completely out of his own comfort zone to visit the ultra deep side of house music Starting off on the front side is the original mix and an exquisitely atmospheric reshape by the one and only Larry Heard (aptly titled the "Atmospheric Mix"). He chops up the original and sprinkles it into a spicy stew of his most cherished chords and keys. On the flip, Altered Moods chief director Malcolm Moore puts his spin on the original with a rapid, charged-up number filled with bubbly leads, boxy drums, and jazzy keys. Finally, Chicago Skyway comes through with a really hot jack mix that starts out mellow before ramping up and bringing the whole EP as well as the story itself, full circle."

The second release of Girasole Records is made by Daniele Temperilli. He released before on SlapFunk Records, Quality Vibe Records, MLH and Kakudo Records. Now on his own imprint Girasole Records with 4 housecuts. A1 is starting deep with a slower vibe. A2 is more energetic,
but still has that lazy vibe. The b-side is more rough. B1 is a straight going track with a profound twist. B2 is the most rough and energetic tooltrack of the EP.

FINA Records welcome Jad & The for a new EP that shows off the Australian-born, Berlin-based producer's majestically melodic house sound. A special dub from 6th Borough Project makes this another essential release.

Before now Jad & The has served up tracks of the year ('Strings That Never Win' - Mixmag 2017), fronted four piece live act Mitzi—who played alongside the likes of Nile Rodgers—and also produced as Jad & The Ladyboy, all the while picking up fans like Moxie and Bradley Zero. Sonar Kollektiv and Toy Tonics have put out his charming sounds before and this new one is another joyous offering.

The feel good '2 Getha (4 Eva Mix)' kicks things of with old school drum breaks and loved-up vocals. Big smeared pads, a new age melody and classic bassline line finish it off and carry you away to summery house heaven. 'Twist Club' then drops into lush deep house with a long legged bassline tumbling beneath organic drums. It's a dreamy and romantic cut before 'Disco Hold Down' has live sounding jazz drums, choppy vocals and rough edges that take you to the heart of a vibe-fulled basement party. Delusions Of Grandeur's 6th Borough Project serve up a Dub that's more stripped back and built on a big rubber bassline. Jacking drums and a more rapturous vocal make it a truly steamy jam.

Buy the EP digitally and you get a bonus track, '2 Getha (Neva Mix)' which is another blissed out and rave tinged house cut which oozes pure euphoria. It closes out a brilliantly heartfelt EP of varied and vital house sounds.

Terre Thaemlitz presents an exclusive vinyl edit of Names Have Been Changed taken from the epic Deproduction album, backed with the incredible House Arrest mix as DJ Sprinkles.
Asking pertinent questions about the hypocritical nature of relations between LGBT agendas and Western Humanist notions of the nuclear family, Terre's Deproduction sensitively yet unflinchingly broaches topics usually considered taboo by a mainstream who are all too happy to pick and choose parts of radical, fringe culture to fetishise, while swerving the bigger questions proposed by those niches.
In the vinyl edit of Names Have Been Changed, exclusive to this LP, Terre contracts the original, 43 minute blend of strings and unsettling scenes of domestic violence into a 17 minute version,
beautifully suspended in the cut at 45rpm in order to best represent the work's unique democracy of frequency - from the muffled row heard next door, to its hyperrealistic avian chirrups and modestly spare, foregrounded strings.
On the B-side's 10 minute House Arrest mix Terre's ideas feel even more radical when juxtaposed with a sublime deep house production, placing them in context of what was and still can be a
radical artform when done with insight and consideration. The result is one of this decade's most sublime yet unsettling house tracks, bar none.

Librarian lives up to his name and comes hot on the heels of his Waxtefacts imprint's former tracks. Raw but full of melody. Discofied synths and strings full of sexy dust n dirt take us back to the sample-fied early days of housemusic. The bass keeps joyfully rumblin' while Latin percussions and vox power the deeper spheres. In the end, It's all hands up. What else, when the offer is free ice cream!

A2: Wouter S. & Firdjel Medar - Breakin' Habitz
Dutch House young shot Wouter S. has been raising stakes, whether with a podcast for Feel My Bicep or a guest mix for Shadow Child on Rinse FM. The collabo delivers what may not only be a Rinse anthem. Medar made himself another Utrecht force to be reckoned with by releasing on Slapfunk. Techno, House, early UK rave sounds - a holy communion, fueled by 909 machinery. Active, even psychoactive jackin' - all over!

Jizz is hailing from Mexico and coming with a blast: straight and undiluted he represents from the revered Underground that keeps bass-ridden house funky. With a bass that is the riddim and a riddim that is the bass. Call it garage or call it whatever, this sho nuff will be movin' hips and shufflin' feet!

B2: Kolja Gerstenberg - Our World
Venturing slightly into minimalist and low slung house grooves, wonderkid Kolja Gerstenberg (of late Boiler Room Debuts fame) makes some vocal chops in hiphop manner and moody organs the order of the day. While he keeps a percussive beat taking its relentless toll. Forward ever, backward never. That's our future world at Kakudo!

Latest WOLF recruit, Al Zanders steps up for a killer debut EP.

Originally hailing from Slovakia but now based out of Berlin Just_Me has been slowly making waves on the underground having previously released for Baile Music, 1trax and Act Natural respectively, as well remixing alongside the likes of Hector, Laura Jones and the great Todd Terry.

Not a label to pigeon hole ourselves to any one genre or style of house or techno we are constantly looking to push the boundaries on the music we release with the Pattern EP we have done just that! as Just_Me brings us two original deep, stripped back and dubbed out cuts adding some atmospheric and acidic tinges along the way.

On the remix duties we have two very capable artists first up is Cocoon's Martinez who has shown us his new deeper side with an altogether tougher but minimal groove and feel on Pattern 01 and to complete the remixes Desolat's Fosky brings a much more energetic approach to Pattern 02. !

Sound Warrior Records founded by Jenifa Mayanja & Dakini 9 aims to balance the playing field for female producers and exclusively release their music. SW006 "Warrior Formulation" is rooted in soul-stirring house with its heart arching towards the future. Lady Fingers returns with an engrossing slice of dub house. The North Carolina artist/DJ was recently a featured DJ at Moog Fest. Jenifa Mayanja Bumako records, shows up with a broken ambient house break. On the flip side Sound warrior teams with well known Berlin underground heroines "Mint Berlin" the female only booking agency. Representing Mint Berlin is co-founder Ena Lind who has been pushing boundaries in the electronic music scene in Berlin for over a decade. Lady Blacktronika comes with a soul house soaker. She has made quite a splash with her labels Sound Black and Sound Keymstry in the process earning the title "first lady of beatdown".

'Today is a good day... Rework's 'You're So Just Just' formerly released on Playhouse is making an exclusive return on Leftroom for Record Store Day.

One of my favourite records of all time and a firm fabric anthem, I had to ask Paranoid London's Johnny AUX for a remix and also gave it a go myself with one of my EC1 Mixes.

Young Adults return to the fold with another gem from the Polish underground.

Having bubbled up in the Polo House scene for the last couple years, 2017 finds Richu M stepping into the forefront for his debut outing 'Donor Goes To Hawaii'.
Rhythm-centric, but varied in approach, the 6-tracker traverses swirling techno, heady thumpers, muddy beatscapes and throwback boom bap.
Simultaneously airy and off-kilter, the release shows a breadth of approach that is not easily pigeonholed, but feels vaguely familiar.

Opener 'Round' soundtracks a laser tag pursuit scene with swayed synths, chattering percussion, and pitch-shift vocal echoes.
The title track 'Donor Goes To Hawaii' takes a Dilla bounce kit to the beach and gets the vibraphone and organ all sandy.
Jazzy piano loops and squelchy synths stack wobbly layers high like Jenga blocks on 'Aquarian Mummies'.

'Pistaccio' gets subterranean with infectious skittered patterning and a proper bump to boot.
Picking up the pace, 'Melting Dolphins' is a funky floor filler.
Finale 'Landskates' blisses out with floating pads and a meditative drumroll.

In-demand producer Flashmob delivers a masterful two-piece assault on his Hot Creations debut, entitled The Lone Brazilian.

The EP opens with the title track, fronting a funk-laden bassline and percussive, driving drums. Tribalistic male and female chants break the track up, adding depth to the unfolding journey. Next up, Lower Level supplies a deeper trip. A tight, assertive drum track counterparts a short, wandering bassline to form a settled, rolling feel.

Italian artist Flashmob, real name Alessandro Magani, is a renowned producer and remixer, label owner and touring DJ. Since 2011 he's released on the world's biggest labels, such as Get Physical, Defected, Kompakt, Snatch!, to name a few, and now delivers his bespoke sound for Hot Creations.

Our little Dirt Crew sub label Spiel started out in late 2013 with three excellent releases, the first two by "Clancy" featuring remixes by "Urulu" and "Prins Thomas" followed by a stellar EP from "Mercury". After a hiatus SPIEL
is back for 2016. Renewed and inspired we have a bunch of both fresh faced and established artists on board packing quality releases for the year. With sounds spanning from Indie Dance and Electronica to Disco and spaced out Balearic jams, we're proud to present you the first of our outings for 2016.

First up is close friend and rock solid producer "Good Guy Mikesh". Out of Leipzig, Germany, he's the guy with the Perfect pitch, forward thinking ideas, an impressive discography of 12"s to his name, and a huge range of influences from funk and soul, to 80's new wave electro and back again. He's come to the table with four tracks we've been busting to share with you.

'Whim' is the steady builder. Spacious and very much alive with sliding leads and layers of analogue synths that sparkle, it's melancholic bliss, it's a deep breath inducing, dance floor lifting, thought provoking piece of beauty. 'Why Not' is something deeper, the bass slips and slides dancing with the top line, while a palette of plucked strings, tuned percussion and Mikesh's signature synth soundscapes reach into the distance as the track continues to roll.

On the B side, 'Cookie' is joyful, its playful keys and poolside energies toast to warm weather and good times. Bouncing arpeggios lead the charge in the break, rising before giving way to euphoric synthetic strings which lead us back into the elated refrain. 'Corone' hints towards Mikesh's disco history, boasting a burly bass and a funk all of its own, this indie dance shaker's got a solid groove and vibe to spare.

A listening pleasure and a dance floor treat, Mikesh's far reaching and assured musical vision is inescapable on this record. The perfect welcome back for SPIEL.

In October 2017 Honey Dijon was commissioned to take part in the Smirnoff 'We're Open' campaign, aiming to promote inclusive night time culture and celebrate nightlife's ability to transcend gender boundaries and prejudice. As well as appearing in the 'We're Open' TV commercial, Honey was asked to record her take on the initiative's ethos for creating positive change, making dance music culture a more open-minded and socially inclusive space. What resulted was a rework of 'Queen of Disco' Sylvester's 'Stars' featuring vocals by singer-songwriter Sam Sparro, who she collaborated with previously on her album 'The Best of Both Worlds'. Now being released on limited edition blue vinyl via Classic Music Company, with breathtaking artwork from assume vivid astro focus who also supplied cover artwork for the album, the entire proceeds from the release will be donated to LGBT Foundation.

Created with parts recorded especially for the 'We're Open' advert, 'Stars' (Disco Version), produced with the help of Classic head Luke Solomon and studio partner Lance Desardi, pops Sylvester's spangled party-starter directly into 2018. Previously made available as a free download to coincide with the launch of the campaign, the Cosmic Energy Dub, underlining Honey's acidic but sweet production, is followed by two mixes by one of her favourite producers of the moment and fellow Chicagoan, Cratebug. His Nova ReMix references the classic disco elements of the original, while the Supernova ReMix - exclusive to vinyl - goes fully intergalactic with a glorious squelching extended mix. Paying lip service to the legacy of a truly gender-redefining figure whose music is nothing but inclusive and empowering, Honey Dijon and Classic prove the power of music to inspire positive change in the dance music communities with this 'Stars' release.

Killer vocal cuts on Arcane.

It gives us great please to present Subb-an's first solo release on 20/20 Vision. Since his joint release with Adam Shelton 4 years ago, we have been very keen to get him involved on a solo release and the time is now! Since he arrived on the scene he has since gone on to become one of its biggest players, with a constantly jam-packed tour schedule and a loyal fan base. This is all down to his considered DJ sets, and trademark groove & appeal that accompany all of his productions.

'Modern Love' opens the release with a bouncing groove characterised by it's kick and bass combo. The star of the show is a wobbly acidic sequence that rears its head sporadic through track and is sure to create some waves on the dancefloor. This is followed by title track 'The Other Side', in which a collection of crisp and sharp soundscapes are combined with Subb-an's typical precision and attention to detail.

On the B side we then find 'El Otro Lado (Terrace Dub)' which showcases a slightly tougher and techno-orientated side to the release. Featuring a stripped back collection of raw drum patterns with big kick drums and sharp high hats. The release is capped off with the digitally exclusive 'El Otro Lado (Original Mix)' which adds a dreamy synth layer that complements the core elements perfectly.

Khotin debuts the new alias 'Waterpark' on this aquatic self-released 12'. A club tested breakbeat dripper, with super pretty melodies twisting throughout on the A side and a mellow early morning dub tune for the B side. Recorded at Deep Blue in Vancouver, BC.

The Mexican platform Comunité returns with its second outpost in the form of a Various Artist package showcasing some of the core players featured on the 2018 bill of the festival. Through a heap of selected works of both regulars and newcomers - COM002 offers a glimpse of the festival's signature curation of eclectic tastes, from prime-time floor fillers blended in with experimental acousticsorcery.The 12' kicks off with a notorious collaboration between two regulars of the Tulum-based event: Tijuana's Soul of Hex mind-bending classic approach to house music amalgamated with Mule Musiq's Kuniyuki and his complex synth work - culminating in Dampe, a 7 minute joint-effort between Mexico and Japan. A2 continues in the vein of Cuba's Alpha 606 - a fresh artist debut on the label. Through staggering hi-hat work and filtered synth pad beds, the Miami based artist showcases his signature electro style that blends An undoubtable latin rhythmic influence with drum machines and LFO-grooved melodies forming 'Shadow'.On the flip side, Mexico City's techno veteran Itzone takes the floor with an introductory ambient piece featuring a vocal narrative that highlights inspirational and mystic concepts-serving as both an interlude as well as a commencement to the rest of the package. Comunités regular JoSep takes on the torch afterwards, providing his always floor-ready 4/4 hypnotic debauchery and shining a light On one of the festival's core aesthetics. Closing off the second instalment of the label, Mexico City's AAAA offers his signature plate of modular synthesis-based experiments, welcoming into his realm of apocalyptic concepts simultaneously to a soothing closure of the record; a magnifying glass into one of Mexico's front-running creational platforms.

The mysterious Anonymous Edits return with a killer 4 track EP of dancefloor edits.

* C. Scott is an MPC virtuoso who first started producing in 2009, inspired by the hypnotic, jazz-influenced sound of hip-hop's golden era. Having refined his craft, he jumped head first into Pittsburgh's music community, maintaining a strong presence in the hip-hop and dance music scenes. After his 2016 debut release on Lumberjacks in Hell, this is Charlie's return to vinyl with a seven track EP with a range of tempos and vibes. The EP includes a remix from LA DJ/Producer Aaron Paar, who is 1/2 of the legendary Teflon Dons.

Ilija Rudman delivers his 3rd Studio Album under Imogen Recordings Flag where he takes a musical diversion to come all on slick , Soul and Boogie . Mixing up influences like Isley Brothers , Maze or Mtume , with head nodding downtempo Techno . Los Angeles late night landscape drives , morning vibes , afterhours good times - all captured in a material that Paradigma is .

On the A-Side the - 30 Seconds Of Yeah EP flows in with a hopeful and wide opener called - Blue Horses . The use of a raw and steady bassline sourrounded by harmonic and melodic elements and the clearly structured drum arrangement makes it a deep going groover. The titletrack - 30 Seconds Of Yeah is a snotty rhythm based pattern with a puncturing bassguitar slap wrapped in a deep pad...but there's a lil' suprise...you will hear and see :-)
The B-side starts with - Come Home , a stomping beat with a coating chord sequence and some straight hidrum patterns. After the break it changes completely and wondrously transform into an emotional deephouse beauty. - Around Tha Corner represents a dusty sound without compromises. The bassline-kickdrum pattern and the repeating deepchord push it from start to finish...one for the basements.

In its original form, 'Barranquilla Trifle' features rave-lite stabs and deliciously sweeping pads over woody percussion and an omnipresent studry bassline. A dash of acid darkness only energizes the mood, for what must surely be one of the best 'sunrise moments' tracks of the year!
Ruf Dug takes 'Barranquilla' further on its trajectory towards summertime vibes; the sounds of the ocean sea gently breeze over the soca beat, as the Ruf Kutz main man adds splashes of percussive hits, huge M1 pads, and melodious keys to the party.

More 303 business coats 'Kaon' from its opening bars, as Man Power delivers his second original track on the release. An urgent breakbeat and wandering mega-bass soon evolve into thunderous beats and heady synth arpeggios, an almost post-punk funk atmosphere creeps into the bustling yet succinct ambience.

Bjorn Petrikat aka Konig Saatgut has not released a record for 15 years but never stopped experimenting with different flavours of dance music. The Spirit is a Disco / UK Breaks hybrid that repeatedly ignites dancefloors across the board. A curveball that set everything on fire.
