The ambivalent, Hebrew word "BAAL" is a hint to the spiritual background of the two Munich artists Matthias Dräxler and Matthias Schüll. The direct translation of "BAAL" is "Lord". The term is used to address God in the Bible but can also refer to false gods or demons. It is up to the listener whether they want to focus on the dark power of the devil or the epic glory of God in the music of BAAL.

Veranda Culture is the new project from Melbourne artist and DJ, Francis Inferno Orchestra The new album, his second full length LP, follows on from his most recent release, the club-ready 'Oasis and Time', The next step in James' musical journey sees the producer shift-direction with the tranquil and beautiful Veranda Culture, balancing New Age ambience, percussive pulse rides and echoing synths for an album that unfurls with a calming patience and soothing confidence throughout.Recorded over a period of three years between Melbourne and London, FIO began making Veranda Culture after discovering the debut album of Greek-born, Sausalito-based composer Iasos - the New Age masterpiece 'Inter-Dimensional Music' LP — in Melbourne's Liquorice Pie record store. The album is filled with quietly twitching rattles and bells, gurgling talking drums, and snippets of trickling water and bird songs collected through field recordings, creating a bed of sound that is hard to pin down but effortless to absorb as a whole.

Following on from his return to dance orientated music on Neroli records with the lush and endearing 'Music for The Golden Age', multi album artist Lars Bartkuhn (Sonar Collective & Needs) brings contrasting sides of his musical character for Alex Bradley's burgeoning Utopia Records, touching on Detroit, Jazz Fusion and Ambient. Tokyo Burning is a youthful and stripped back electronic club track harking back to the Detroit house heyday of Galaxy to Galaxy and Happy Records but with a modernist approach and Bartkuhn's unique musicality for what has all the hallmarks of a peak-time club classic.In contrast title track Nomad brings the full spectrum of Bartkuhn's musical range with a more organic and rhythmic dance composition.
A fusion of afro percussion, his own emotive vocal hook, melodic keys, joyful flute playing, bound together with the guitar playing that has had many compare Bartkuhn to the likes of Jazz master Pat Metheny. The track builds into a breakdown that is perhaps best described by Anthony Nicholson as; 'a combination of truth, inspiration and cosmic energy'.
Rounding out the EP a gentle acoustic reprise, a deeper introspective piece for ambient music lovers.
All pressed to impress on 180 vinyl with full artwork to round out a quality release on Utopia with more to come from Bartkuhn on the label as he reaches the 'Needs' heights that made him (along with his residency in the early days of Robert Johnson) an inspiration to a generation of Deep House DJ's and producers.

Trikk (Bruno) sent Abstract Language to George at the end of 2014, and its been tearing roofs off across the world since. It's a big room belter, and we were mad keen to sign it.
Bruno's been with us since the 3rd release and its great to putting out another EP of his.Bruno then sent over Deviation 33, and the horns floored me.It's probably my favourite track that we have put out, which is fitting seeing as we are going to be putting the label on ice for a little while as we all concentrate on other projects.

With Nebraska, Session Victim and Quarion reworking stables fromthe RTR back catalogue, »Re-Treats Vol.1« is a brilliant showcase of the art of the remix as each artist comes up with a truly personal take on the original material. RTR18 starts in high fashion with digger extraordinaire Nebraska tackling the label's most famous track so far, »Good Intentions« from Session Victim. It's merely impossible to rework a bonafide modern classic but the english producer manages this task with ease and stays close to the original by breaking down the main loop into a one bar groove with super crisp beats. This would already suffice as the core for a powerful track but the real action begins after a short break: Nebraska brings the original four bar loop back at the forefront while adding a wicked samba twist to it! And as the kick comes back in, you can help but dance with your arms in the air and a big smile on your face. The »Soho Samba Mix« is an irresistible tune with that unmistakable »London« flair, not to mention a proper dancefloor anthem in its own right! Turn the record over for Session Victim's take on »A & F« from Iron Curtis & Leaves. It will only take a few bars for you to feel that you're in for a special ride with the one and only »Two Man House Band« at the commands. Matthias' and Hauke's version of »A & F« is much more a cover than a traditional remix as SVM add percussion, layers of juicy synths, loose drum fills and quirky samples over the original chords and vocals.

Known for their take on the gentler side of house music, jazz pianists, electronic enthusiasts and label founders of the Analogue Attic imprint, Albrecht La'Brooy have joined Night Tide's family with their latest sojourn "Emissary" EP. The release began with a concept from the artists, who asked for field recordings taken by Night Tide's Eluize from around her adopted home in Berlin. Sounds from parks, gardens, trains and stations that make up the local, everyday sonic landscape made their way across the Atlantic to arrive in Albrecht La'brooy's studio, where they were used as inspiration for the three outings on this record. The Melbourne duo's live approach to programming and arrangement can be heard as the tracks ebb and flow effortlessly. In "Tempelhof" sub swells and a throbbing kick accompany delicate leads and lightly touched drums. The more uptempo "Hinterhof" pulses and sways with lively percussion, crystalline bells, euphoric strings and softly spoken melodies that float in and out of view. "U-bahn / S-bahn" begins with glistening top lines and panoramic chords over a growling bass and a steady groove. As the journey rolls on from the underground into open-air window-gazing territory, the piece takes an ambient, beatless turn. SUOL label heads Chi-Thien Nguyen and John Muder aka Chopstick & Johnjon recently pocketed a gold record for their work as co-authors of Fritz Kalkbrenner's single 'Back Home'. But instead of spending their days celebrating on private yachts and sipping the bubbly, C&J have been busy in the studio churning out tracks for their new EP. And here it is. Throwing off the shackles of the radio format, the duo offer up four new long-form cuts for the clubs with 'Versions 2'. That is not to say the tracks are without pop appeal - they are intensely catchy and every bit as musical as C&J's previous output - but their approach is different from the emotional song structures, which were the hallmark of their debut album 'Twelve'. 'Keep It Real Son' might be the motto of this EP. Organ stabs, deep subs, whipping hi-hats, a funky Moog bassline and an instantly recognizable lead synth. This is House Music, baby. More cowbell you say 'I Need Your Love' has got what you want. The funkiest of percussion lines skips along to a rolling bass. Friendly chord stabs contrast a heavy groove. And the vocal gives a nod to early Nineties rave anthems. 'Strings For Fools' is a journey full of bouncy percussions from around the world. Triumphant strings send you flying while the track surges forward with its pounding kick and huge bass. 'Wait A Minute' builds around a two bar guitar loop and a live electronic bass. Two short vocal bits echo their way across a snappy beat. With classic filtering and a pitchbending West-Coast Hip-Hop synth that's all you need to get the entire dance floor smiling. Back in 1955 an unidentified flying object was spotted by a couple of farm workers nearby Llangollen's Castel Dinas Bran (Crow Castle). A young man named Dewi Llandlenip had taken some astonishing photographs of what appears to be a UFO hovering above the ancient medieval site.

He was sure, this was THE PRESENCE OF THE TIME TRAVELLERS. Crow Castle has always had a mysterious presence, but this took them by surprise, a kind of CLOSE ENCOUTER TYPE III. Shortly after this bizarre moment they were all left stunned and knocked to the ground, the object had gone without trace and their memory obscured into a so called ABDUCTION RESET.

A leopard can't change his spots and Magnus International earned his spots in the sequence hue of Oslo's disco scene. 'Disco is the single thread that runs through all electronic dance music.' After an inconsistent hiatus from recording, the Norwegian DJ had donned the producer cap resolutely for his debut LP, Echo to Echo with us last year in 2016 , the an additional much loved album bonus 12. that all, aside his many other projects for us in the last years. now 2017, Magnus´ 'Synths' are on again , like a breath of fresh air and sunlight, these 4 tracks roll on to the world from oslo´s shores... and as his usually best Magnus is very strong on seamingly endless grooving chords and timing, sweet harmonycentric bliss and tight, on the point drum programming that comes with this 'pull factor' wich makes you want to play or listen out loud over and over again. There´s a Chmmr remix as well so things look really good here!

'Twelve Inch Jams' is offering you just that - strictly two A side tunes for the floor cut at 45 revolutions per minute. Jazz & Milk pays tribute to this classy release format with their new 12' vinyl series. Each record comes in a hand silk-screened printed and stamped sleeve! The series starts off with members of the label family - Vienna's Sam Irl and the man behind Jazz & Milk, Dusty. The two not only share a good friendship, but also the love for raw and sample-based house music tunes produced on the MPC. They got together and created these jams in two nightly sessions. 'Pick Up The Pieces' is driven by a rough bass drum, filthy dub vocal samples, harmoni synth chords and a bassline that makes you bounce. 'Drift' has a rather moody vibe but nonetheless dancefloor potential. The track is a beautiful collage piece consisting of plenty sample fragments which doesn't fail to pull you in its spell like a drift through otherworldly spheres... So let's pay tribute to good music and Tom Moulton's legacy - the 12' single!

Dug out trackstyles from the darkest alleys of our minds, we present the first Various Artists 12" on Trouble In Paradise...The first track is from Andreas P, a local 90's hero from Stockholm who in the late 90's released some waaay underrated tracks on Stockholm labels 'Dust On Tracks' and 'Urban Electro Squad'. He's kindly allowed us to reissue one of the tracks from his excellent 'My Cartoons EP'.A2 comes from Trouble In Paradise's own Noah Gibson who shows off his original trackstyle, take no prisoners, chop your head off kind of vibe with 'Derailing'. Watch out! On the other side we can proudly present an "original remix" from the legendary Dman, who remixed his own track 'Hydro' which was originally released on Source Records. Dman is a catalyst figure in the German 90's techno scene, running the famous HD800 club out of Mannheim, collaborating with Move D as Kin Sun and gave up-and-coming turned famous dj's, their first gigs.
As a closure on B2, we are happy to present an unlikely collaboration from the past... During the cold winter of 2009, two music hungry nerds by the name of Abdulla Rashim & H. Bergqvist went out to the countryside with two monitors and some VERY sparse equipment to jam. We feel that this track is an interesting insight into the early developments of these two artists.

Canada, welche die beiden Musiker Andrew Hodson und Steve Jefferis mit Hilfe von geradliniger Percussion,
elektronischen Basslines, Gitarren-Riffs im Stil von Keith Levene (The Clash) und viel analoger Wärme zu
einem "krautophonic blizzard-wave" verbinden. Das brachte den Jungs schon Supporttouren mit Goblin,
Modeselektor, ESG, St. Etienne und dem Moon Duo ein. Für sein drittes Album hat das Duo seinen Sound
weiter geschärft: "Wireless World" wartet mit einem Dutzend knackiger, treibender und melodisch reicher
Songs auf. Zum ersten Mal in der Bandgeschichte kam es bei den Aufnahmen zu Kollaborationen mit
Lieblingssängern und -sängerinnen wie Peter Brewis (Field Music), Sarah Cracknell (Saint Etienne), Devon
Sproule und Mia La Metta (Beards). Das Album möchten Hodson und Jefferis als Kommentar zum aktuellen

At long last, it's finally here. After two years of waiting, New York's Anthony Naples is ready to finally reveal his debut full-length LP, Body Pill, set for release on February 17th on Four Tet's Text Records. To coincide with the announcement, Naples has made 'Refugio,' the first single from the LP available. Listen to the full track here.

It's a amazing how much can happen in a short time frame. At the beginning of 2012, Anthony Naples didn't have a song to his name; by the end of that year, he'd been heralded as one of the city's rising producer talents. The genesis was 'Mad Disrespect' — a single that dominated Brooklyn's underground electronic music scene from even before its offical release. The track was a milestone for all involved. Not only was it Naples' first single, but it also was the first track he'd recorded, period. On a whim, he sent the track to Eamon Harkin and Justin Carter, the founders of New York's respected Mister Saturday Night series. A regular at their parties but an unknown to the duo, Anthony caught the pair's attention with 'Mad Disrespect,' and ended up as the cornerstone of label's inaugural release: the Mad Disrespect EP.

Anthony's music caught the ear of a number of people that summer, none more important than Kieran Hebden, aka Four Tet, who commissioned Anthony to remix his single '128 Harps' — again, Anthony's first remix at that point. From there on, things sped up. He followed 'Mad Disrespect' with a series of 12' released on a veritable who's who of influential labels: Scotland's respected Rubadub label, Four Tet's Text Records, Opal Tapes — all of which culminated in El Portal, his EP for Will Bankhead's Trilogy Tapes imprint. Along the way, he was invited to open for Four Tet at London's Fabric and invited to play Berlin's prestigious Panorama Bar.

And now, a little over two years later, comes Body Pill, Anthony Naples debut full-length for Text Records. As Anthony tells it, the title comes from a mangled English translation that caught his eye in a Japanese vending machine. 'When I ran the title past Kieran, and he said it just sounded like a lost rave classic, but I thought in the end it makes sense. The LP is a small dose of synthetic noises and rhythms.' Naples says. Stylistically, the album draws inspiration from the city that gave Anthony his start: New York. 'I wanted to make a streetwise record that was also solid and simple, like a brick or those weird fluorescent light tubes in the subway. They give off this weird hum that you hear only when you're alone in the station between trains late at night. I wanted to make a record that evoked that experience.'

Body Pill is a surprising album for Anthony, his most understated and mature release to date. Body Pill opens with a wall of ambient noise on 'Ris,' only to be overtaken by an a modest synth groove. Ambient noise washes over and eventually overtakes tracks like 'Way Stone' and 'Pale' later on in the record. But that's not to say there aren't echoes of Naples' work for Mister Saturday Night lurking throughout the record. 'Abrazo' feels like the natural companion to Anthony's earlier singles, with elegant strings mingling with a deconstructed house-inspired beat. 'Used to Be' is arguably Anthony's largest beat to date whose rolling hi-hats counterbalance the track's stabbing synths. The album's closer 'Miles' abruptly morphs from a lo-fi house anthem into a surprisingly minimal synth soundscape, a microcosm of the record as a whole.

Last year Apollonia dropped their debut album 'Tour à Tour', a collection of tracks that represented their all night long b2b2b sessions. Now the boys proudly present the remixes! Dan Ghenacia, Dyed Soundorom and Shonky have carefully curated a selection of remixers from their closely-knit group of talented friends within the underground scene to create an album of exquisite reinterpretations. Each of the artists who've contributed to the album of reworks has a personal connection to the crew; members of the Lola ED family, friends from foreign lands, French comrades... they're all here and they've all put their own fresh twist on Apollonia's original works. An old hand brings a totally invigorating energy to the heartfelt 'June' as Charles Webster injects his experience into transforming the track into a light, leftfield-leaning soundscape. His rework takes us into dreamland, with smooth washes of synth and tinkling percussion giving it a slight tribal feel. 'Mouche Tsé Tsé' gets not one but two remixes; Hold Youth (Le Loup and Seuil) give it a sleazy, electro lick with a winding bassline and naïve, 8-bit esque FX for those hazy after-hours gatherings. Meanwhile, Thomas Melchior takes thing a little left of centre with his abstract rework full of odd sounds and clattering drums. Two very different versions, but both equally high-quality. Fellow Parisian Terence:Terry: aims straight for the dance floor with his mesmerising mix of 'Sona'. A groove-led production, it relies on a hefty bassline together with crisp percussion and a heady set of pads that will transport you to a higher plain. New York legend Jovonn, a previous contributor to the label and an inspiration to Apollonia, also lends his talents to reconfiguring 'Sona'. His version works around that gritty, jazz-infused sound.

The fifth release on Renate Schallplatten comes from Dimitri Veimar from Moscow, a good friend and regular guest behind the decks at Renate. Hot on the the heels of his fantastic Time EP on Omnidisc, he delivers four tracks of modern acid flavoured goodness. The icing on the cake is a superb remix by Renate all time favourite Lauer from the Robert Johnson crew.

This is the first proper full length from 2MR (the Omnian Music Group label run by Mike Sniper (Captured Tracks) and Mike Simonetti (Italians Do It Better).

Kedr Livanskiy is based in Russia and won the Russian Electronic Artist of the Year Award in 2016.

Moscow's Kedr Livanskiy (real name Yana Kedrina) confesses "Synthesizers help me maximally feel the present moment." Livanskiy was born into a shifting and critical time for Russia. The Soviet Union had exhausted and old values were anathematized because of reconstruction. A sense of displacement drove Kedr to find herself. She's escaped reality repeatedly in her explorations into the imagery and ideas of romanticism, mythical and fairytale themes which visibly bleed throughout her work and especially on her debut full-length 'Ariadna'. The title track which was named after the Greek goddess, Adriane, debuted via THUMP who've described it "anchors its elegantly drifting shoegaze melodies with a knocking electro beat."

'Ariadna' marks a change in her recording approach: her critically acclaimed breakthrough EP 'January Sun' was written and recorded completely in Ableton, while 'Ariadna' was written using the Roland SH-101, Roland Juno 106 and Korg Minilogue synthesizers, then mixed down in Ableton. According to Kedr, "This way, one gets into a flow of live interaction, here and now, with the instrument." There is a definite leap in production values this time around, but Kedr manages to keep true to her sound despite the greater polish and depth.

Irish producer Leonid is welcomed on board of the ITDR spaceship for their second installment. After putting out impressive releases on Sistrum and Dolly (to name a few), Paul Smith comes up with a stellar 4 tracks EP cut for clubs dancefloors. Landing deep in planet X analogic territories, you will find Leonid distinctive acid grooves fused in heavy basslines with amazing percussion work for a mystic journey across Nibiru's galaxy.

Matt Karmil's first release for Smalltown Supersound, and his first release to follow last years two critically acclaimed albums Idle033 and ++++. On the flip Bjorn Torske delivers food for DJs with his wonderful signature sound.

Belgian duo Raw District return to the Crosstown Rebels label with 'Addicted', teaming up with the formidable Aquarius Heaven again for the label, this time remixed by the infamous Doc Martin and Keinemusik's Rampa.
An ex reggae dancehall and hip hop singer; Aquarius Heaven brings the colors of the Caribbean to 'Addicted'. Raw District's flamboyant percussions grinds the beats into a track that stretches the limitations of electronic music.
Rampa's remix illustrates the breadth of his studio skills, as founder of a production company TEILE, he builds soaring synths and strumming piano to elevate the emotional aspect to 'Addicted' equipping it for the early hours of the night. Doc Martin has earned the respect of many over his extensive career for his timeless style that bridge many genres. His remix is a driving, dub-tastic, tribal take on the original that has been going down a storm!

Kat Records reach the ripe ol' age of 30 with the 3rd instalment of reworks by all round super ace guy Jonny Miller.

Those of you out there of a certain vintage will not need any intro to Half A Minute - A guilty pleasure to some, with nowt to be feeling guilty about. Kalimba Tree is a track that sits perfectly between the aforementioned genres and Jonny Miller delivers a rework rather than straight up edit - The beats are incredible, very funky and infectious but laid back at the same time...Tabled with the beautiful fender rhodes and that vocal hook, it's time to head direct to your fave Adriatic festival and order a large one and pop a toast to the genius of Maurice White.

Last up we have Orere-Elejigbo which is mid-tempo afro-Balearic gem and again, a rework rather than your bog standard edit.

4/4 beats, afro vocal hooks, low slung bass line and a mighty arrangement top things off very nicely on this rather fine 3 track-er.

Here Lies Pollyn, a band which never got the dues they deserved, a band whose influence stretched around the world, a band who can count Hot Chip as fans, but also a band who concentrated on the music instead of arbitrary processes like promotion. This has left them with three critically-acclaimed albums, a little black book full of their own musical heroes as fans and one final brand new single: 'Findaway Ft. Alexis Taylor'. The anthology, that most bands would be proud to produce, is now presented as a digital download or an impressive three vinyl package as Here Lies Pollyn 2003-2016.

Pollyn are nouveau vintage electronica and have been celebrated as one of LA's most hi-fashion electronic acts. Genevieve Artadi's porcelain vocal, Anthony Cava's quirky guitars and Adam Jay Weissman's beat­maker production make for a potent and unforgettable musical cocktail. Releasing their first EP in 2003, Pollyn originally sampled from old records to bed their iconic vocal with dark analogue synths, dusty beats built with old hip hop drum machines, an ancient Pro Tools set up and trippy vocal fx.

Adam Jay Weissman says of the Anthology: 'We spent a lot of time working on Pollyn and not as much time promoting it, so a lot of our music has been overlooked. Self-releasing our own music made it tough to have the reach we wanted. After 10+ years of releases, we wanted something that collects all of our favorite songs into one cohesive package, telling the complete story of Pollyn. It's like a time capsule on vinyl. We dug through our albums, the singles and unreleased stuff to put together what we consider to be the quintessential retrospective of our music. For the digital release, we added a collection of remixes, many of which were never released or aren't available on streaming sites. There are so many good ones, that we're exciting to have them finally seeing the light of day! The artwork was done by underground comic book hero Lawerence Raw Dog' Hubbard of Real Deal Comix fame.'

Oslo Newcomer Christian Engh is since long no new Kid on the block here. After the pretty incredible 'Kyllingsmak' on Full Pupp Spesial his new Ep for Techno Sublabel RIF is no less a stomper. Compact, dry techno with the unmistakable pull, and build factor, we already now from him. Same deep as kyllingsmak but with yet more beat, bleep,quirk and boom to it. All available on Full Pupp's 'techno not techno' offshoot Rett I Fletta!!!

This special one off collaboration sees 19yr old prodigy Max Graef, a native Berliner has coupled with globe trotter Fantastic Man aka Mic Newman. With Mic living in Max's broom cupboard for a few vodka soaked weeks in Berlin this autumn, there was a beautiful inevitability that some music would outcome.

The lead track "Soothe Me" is no noodly shrinking violet, but a grade 10-cross-genre-dance-floor-destroyer which Andy snapped up for label on first listen. Clearly taking it's inspiration from the Rhodes and sample drenched Sound Signature Detroit label and adding in live instrumentation, tape effects, for a track rich in Steely Dan sensibility, coupled with a sub bass and twisted lead line dragging us into a new year. The B-Side Relaxin' At The Flip is a raw slab of analogue goodness, flying 606 high hats, a tough kick drum and simple elements driving the track forwards, best heard 8am in a dark corner of a club.

Dan Curtin's name has long been associated with future looking Techno, machine music oozing with soul and emotion. He has released on many seminal labels throughout his career and left an indelible mark on contemporary electronic music. 'Alive / Cascade' is perhaps a lesser known entry into Curtin's catalogue, released on Strictly in 1994 and is almost the perfect synthesis of NYC deep House and Detroit Techno, a true slept on gem of a record. The music contained within the grooves of this record defy any sort of time frame, it's almost hard to believe it's over 20+ years old. A truly beautiful record, 'Alive / Cascade' is a must for all electronic music lovers and will undoubtedly continue to be played and enjoyed for the next 20+ years ahead. Astounding stuff and yet another example of the wide reaching ears and minds operating Strictly Rhythm during this golden period.

'Alive / Cascade' has been skilfully remastered from all original master sources and fully licensed and reissued officially for 2017.

If you are into the type of techno-infused house beats that drive dancefloors crazy, there's very little chance that you haven't yet heard of Jay Lumen, one of the most prolific tech-house producers in today's scene. Having recently remixed Green Velvet's "Bigger Than Prince" and with releases in some of the most notorious labels around including a previous EP in OFF, we had to have him back for another exquisite pair of tracks in our beloved OFFSPIN eclectic series.

It doesn't get any groovier than "Dusty Memories", the first track in the EP is a dancefloor burner, with a swinged house beat, a huge bassline and a very catchy vocal work. Stabs and intensive tension throughout the breakdowns plus very well crafted arrangements blend together for a sure hit.

Things get darker on "Empty Ghetto Bastard" and indeed, its a journey into the ghetto with heavy drum hits, rap scattered vocals, big synth stabs and a jacking drum pattern to drive everyone insane. This one is truly oriented to the clubs while, as always, gathering all the melodic ingredients to keep the energy flowing.
