San Fran-based artist, tape_hiss releases his second EP on Love Notes and you can clearly hear both his sound and the label's maturing in tandem. Moving on from the depth of his first record, Love is a Dog from Hell, tape_hiss takes things into headier waters, going heavy on the acid and the rugged basslines on this 4 track EP. Angelian War Storm begins in exactly that fashion, with 303s squelching and bassbins rattling. This continues through the clear standout trackout, The Vivian Girls. The gears shift a bit on the B1 where Sistrum boss, Patrice Scott is allowed to rework The Vivian Girls and does so in a warbly, dirty jazz fashion. tape_hiss then closes things out with the title track, Realms of the Unreal, which uses an appropriate sample annoucing, "This is me, yo. Right here", and it does very much sound to us like this budding artist is annoucing himself to the world in a most proper fashion. We can't wait to hear what comes next from both artist and label.

Toy Tonics' MUSHROOM HOUSE series brings together different shades of afro-weirdo-psychedelic vibes in dance music. All tracks have been made exclusively for Toy Tonics. The musical range is wide: The third EP goes from Arabic guitars to Nubian chants and looots of percussions. The bass drum is four-on-the-floor, but switches from midtempo (Kiwi: We are here) to classic New York LoFi -Disco grooves (Ponty Mython). The other 2 tracks on the EP feature an emptier vibe: Less toms - more Drum machines. More Techno. Red Axes deliever probably one of their weirdest works. Their Munk rework is pure craziness. The melodies come from another space. The last track on the EP is made by old Toy Tonics friends from Milano: The Barking Dogs. They teamed up with Tom Trago in the basement studio of the great record store they run in Milan: Serendeepity Records. They are known for selling obscure, but classy music for dance floors and that's what they do when the make music on their own. Like on "Your High": An obscure groove meets a sloppy bassline and stoned vocals.

XOA is an exciting new project fusing sounds from the golden era of 70s Afrobeat with contemporary electronica and modern production. The debut release AIYE LE, features the vocals of former Fela Kuti musical director and afrobeat royalty Dele Sosimi. Label boss Dan Shake steps up for the remix on the B side, bringing his signature Detroit house aesthetic.

12 Records is back as serious as ever presenting Bogus & Hunter's Bad Runner, with additional remixes on the flip by Melchior Sultana and Deep88, Atmospheric, Lush and Dope...Music!

The third release on this imprint is an EP from a fresh talent from Bucharest called Lixir. The EP starts with ''Sunshine'' which is a melodic track, nice soundtrack to the after. It then continues with ''Fleut en Scarlett'' referring to both the flute in the track and the soundcard used during the production of the track. The B side starts with a nice counterpart to the light tracks on the A side in the form of the more heavy and straighforward ''Cleptoman''. To top off the release COSMJN made quite a spheric and spacey remix of ''Cleptoman''. NIMMA003 is played by Barac and Suciu.

Sourcing material both familiar and obscure, this release is an education on how to craft the perfect extended DJ version. Limited vinyl release!

Yoruba Records proudly present the return of Afefe Iku. Returning after a four year hiatus with is his first release since his 2008 debut album and smash hit Mirror Dance, here we have a four song EP entitled 'The Blues'. With his eclectic force and sound, Afefe brings us another chapter in his developing story. 'The Blues' gives us the dark edge of deeper techno, whereas 'The Arsonist' is an in your face mid tempo head banger featuring Osunlade on vocals. 'Dakountdown' and 'Jungle Beats' stand alone in style and approach as a throwback to the days when house was simply just house, without the multitude of today's dance genres. Yoruba pray that you embrace the next wave of sound from the mind of the man who brought you the classic 'Artifacts Of Pottery Vessels'.

The classic 'Song Of The Siren' is yet another sublime piece of deepest NYC house music from the legendary Ronald Burrell under his Aphrodisiac alias.

A stone cold Nu-Groove classic from 1990, this record has always been a firm favourite with discerning House heads & those in search of a more sublime groove.

Here, re-mastered & re-issued in it's original form, 'Song Of The Siren' is a must have piece. A mysterious, melodic journey that transcends time, sounds fresh & works perfectly no matter how late or how early it is on the dance-floor.

REPRESS ALERT: While it may still be relatively early days for Chicago-based label Perpetual Rhythms, already the quality bar has been set high with the first two releases and now HVL and CSPOK are on hand to push it even further. The former has already found form on Rough House Rosie, and here weaves a romantic take on deep techno and electro that will soothe the soul immeasurably with its healing pads and warming melodies. CSPOK resides over the flip with an equally dreamy vision of machine funk, keeping the beats secondary to the synths while drawing energy from an impressive arrangement of interlocking sounds.

Second up in Doc Daneeka's WALK.MAN series sees the all-time don, Robert Owens step up.
Two tracks, recorded in Berlin that could have stepped directly out of his 90's back catalogue.
One for the lovers. The WALK.MAN mixtape will be released in full on Cassette and Digital at the end of the Summer.

Related Artists Thomass Jackson, Red Axes, Tolouse Low Trax, Mijo, Rebolledo Info: Mexican producer Iñigo Vontier releases his 5th EP, including a massive remix from Tolouse Low Trax (Salon Des Amateurs, Antinote). This new Lumière Noire release will be accompanied by a tour of Iñigo Vontier in Europe. 'Since I was little, I've been immersed in the culture of the Mexican Aztecs and Mayas. So, logically, I'm attracted to magic and spells. Mixing both in my music is the perfect combination of my tastes and my roots". Seen from Europe, Iñigo Vontier's assertion can seem puzzling, but from the point of view of a Guadalajaran DJ-producer, this blending of genres makes all sorts of sense, expressing the dreams of peoples steeped in mystique, whose rites have provided refuge and hope through generations. As soon as the needle hits Aluxes ("it's the name of forest spirits, and it's pronounced 'aloo-chess',' according to Iñigo) a channel to occult forces does seem to open up. The EP's title track, with its sparse, unfathomable voices and its bouncing, metered rhythm, is like a spell operating its serene power over the listener. The spirits are at time tricksters: the facetious Patito and its stubborn metallic rhythm brings back Vontier's precious dark disco essence, which mellows out what would be more overly-serious Western electronic music: 'I'm proud to help the Mexican Dance Music scene make its international mark, along with Rebolledo and others. My personal contribution, along with my role as a label head, is to bring this sound to the world. Musically speaking, that means that our productions are increasingly influenced by Latino - and sometimes Arabic - sounds, which makes them more diverse and eclectic".

Since the release of his debut 'Hyph Mngo' that swept the global dance music world in 2009, British producer Peter O'Grady (aka Orbison) makes his return on Hotflush Recordings as Joy O in 2011. These two productions take a more straightforward approach, toeing along the lines of classic house music, infused with this talented producer's own signature style, weaving rolling acidic basslines in 'Wade In' and uplifting melodies in 'Jels' and over shuffling Roland drums and blissful atmospherics.

This year Kevin Saunderson, Ann Saunderson and Paris Grey, collectively known as the legendary band Inner City, release 'Future', their first entirely new material since parting company in 2001, written and produced in collaboration with another Detroit legend, namely Kenny Larkin.

The track marks a welcome return for a group that combined the tough, futuristic grooves of the Detroit scene with the vocal energy of R&B and gospel and helped to define the period in which house and techno moved from underground phenomena to top 10 material, paving the way for hundreds of dance hits to come.

'Future' is devastatingly catchy and highly emotional, exhibiting all the soulful flavours and qualities you would expect from these celebrated producers and singers. MK renders the dub with his signature 90s house sound, detuned organs and chopped up vocals a plenty. One sided hand stamped record limited to 400 copies.

We celebrate the gift of love, art and music,' adds Vega. Followers of his illustrious career will find the album unveils a completely new side of the legendary artist; that of a sound chemist. Louie explains, 'My inspirations came from various visits around the world and experiences in life. As far as the album's sounds, I revisited lots of R&B, soul, gospel, nu jazz, even some disco, all within the backdrop of house music, took it back to the artist and song tailoring' .

Describing his artistic process, 'The album came together naturally, it was a growing process. It was like planting a tree, each branch represented an artist, a sound, a groove. The entire process happened within a few years. It started with a few songs and then this past year, I was in a creative state and the music happened back to back. As I travelled and toured, I met artists on the road and would record with them a few weeks later. The experience with the artists on the album was magical; they are all so talented and very unique and have their own special quality.'

In anticipation of the CD release of Osunlade's forthcoming artist album 'A Man With No Past Originating The Future' - due early summer 2013 - Yoruba Records presents four stunning and varied remixes of one of the original tracks - Osunlade's mesmerising 'Camera Shy - committed to a lovely piece of 180g vinyl.Multi-instrumentalist Osunlade's original version is a heady electronic track laced with soaring operatic vocals and layer upon layer of woody percussion. Osunlade's own vocal also features and it is impossible to escape the signature Yoruba funk rooted in the Minneapolis sound.

Here Yoruba's selection of remixes take things in an altogether more club orientated direction by way of Detroit, Naples, New Jersey and Berlin.

Andres' stripped down affair delivers a heavy kick offset with the Detroit native's signature cut up strings and a funky walking bass.

Alex and Chris layer percussive elements over a rich backdrop of vibes and naturalistic atmosphere to create a sumptuous and lush rework perfectly at home on the label. Justin Imperiale's remix is equally at home on Yoruba, focusing on powerful syncopated rhythms and swelling synth stabs to create a big, immersive remix packed with fuzzy emotions.

Berlin based Oskar Offermann finishes off proceedings with his stunningly hard-edged remix focused intently on the dance floor. The original melody line sits perfectly on a bed of subtle, dark stings and stabs of electronic noise to create those ghostly dance floor moments.

"The ever on-point, Turquoise Blue imprint, returns this September, with the 'Durian' EP, from rising producer, SLOK, backed with remixes from Belgium's, Ultrasone, and L.A trio, Droog.
Italian producer Alessandro Russo aka SLOK has been on an ever-evolving rise to fame over the past eight or so years, racking up releases on some of underground electronic music's well-respected labels, namely, Get Physical Music, Moodmusic, My Favorite Robot, and Turbo Recordings. As well as running his, Electronic Petz imprint, a label, which delivers fresh contemporary house cuts, and has introduced many newcomers onto the scene.
The original mix of title cut, 'Durian', kicks things off here, a dark and brooding number, employing punchy, raw drums, cavernous background atmospherics, crunchy saw-wave bass and bubbling vocal lines, to create a tripped out gritty house number. The Ultrasone duo, notably known for their work on Visionquest and Supplement Facts, rework 'Durian' into a low-slung ethereal workout next, stripping back the vibe with sparse, soft, and jazzy drums, while a hooky organ and whispering pads add a soulful, deep texture to the record, as expected the reshape is emotive and melodically stunning.
Up next is the second original cut from SLOK, entitled 'Keep Moving', a great follow up from the Ultrasone mix as Russo delves into a minimalistic vibe himself this time. Simple 4/4 beats lay in the background, while rolling sub bass tones, elongated echoes and sporadic synth sweeps run alongside murmuring low-pitched vocals, again resulting in a moody dance-floor ready house record. Culprit's, Droog, stick their original contemporary stamp on 'Keep Moving' to follow, the trio take snippets from the original track, but add their unique characteristics to things, with intricate, ever-evolving synth lines brilliantly warbling in pitch, and a dropped tempo vibe, allowing the melodies to really bloom. The man known as DJ Nature holds a long and illustrious list of releases that spans all the way back to the early 90s, when, as Nature Boy, the Bristol born DJ and producer was carving out sample heavy house music for labels like Ruff Disco Records and the Underworld affiliated Tomato label.
His relatively modern re-incarnation, as DJ Nature, has seen singles and two albums come correct on revered labels like Golf Channel Recordings and Jazzy Sport.
Following on from Futureboogie's landmark 50th release, DJ Nature drops a heavyweight four track EP on the Bristol label, each track promising and delivering Summertime vibes in abundance.
'Born Lifted', with its deft guitar licks and soulful vocal chops over lazy, hazy beats, is a great example of the Nature aesthetics that make his tracks so very popular across the house fraternity. 'My Life' picks up the pace, deploying granite hard snares and cosmic chords with dusted vocal samples.
On the flip, 'What It Isn't' packs some jazz chops with its sampled pianos and saxophone riffs over a discordant beat that swings with the best of them, whilst EP closer 'Loving U More' again serves up some delicious summertime grooves with the perfect marriage of deep, funky bass and seductive samples.

Dubbyman of Deep Explorer graces the Atlanta based label of Reggie Dokes, with two deep house tracks. Both tracks shimmer with a hypnotic sway of dreaminess. Then two remixes of Dubbyman's originals by interstellar afrocentric journeyman, Reggie Dokes. The remixes still keep that element of deepness, with touches of the original. This is only for the deep at heart

Cinematic Recordings is proud to offer up a debut to accomplished live artist and organic sonic landscaper Edanticonf with its next EP.
Born Edoardo Zerbinati, Italian Edanticonf has been active since 2010, releasing journeying, evocative techno EPs and a fine full length on labels like M_REC LTD, Eclipsemusic and the much loved Silent Season label. EP opener 'Siren' is a clean and crisp, melodically rich and musically enchanting bit of prime Planet E era techno. It's a perfectly produced, widescreen bit of sound that places you right at the better as all sorts of celestial pads and melodies colour the expansive sonic skies above: as such it really is an experience and a journey. 'Mermaid' is buried a little deeper, emerging from warm, rubbery drums to offer up trance-inducing chords that stream uninterrupted from start to finish. Nebulous melodies also swirl below, soothing mind, body and soul as they go and reminding you just how breath-taking techno can be in the right hands.
Lastly comes 'Syrizo', another spine tingling, head turning bit of supine techno that is riddled with rich and rounded melodies that glow like fire flies in a dark night sky. Pads as harmonic, bliss and beautiful as this don't come along too often, which is a shame, because the effect of them is truly mesmeric.

With this EP, both Cinematic and Edanticonf continue in their mission to offer up classy techno sounds that work on your heart as much as your heel, and as such excel together as a result.

REPRESS ALERT: 'Something From Nothing' is a four tracker that fuses techno sensibility with house swagger, a voice calling to Detroit's Second Wave while a hand beckons the shadowy waters of house. Hearts Of Darkness are immersed in late nights and smoke-filled basements, with past form seeing them play Fabric and Bugged Out!. An unhealthy loyalty to vintage hardware and long forgotten code means their music is analogue, not for fashion, but because it feels right.
On the A, 'Sequential Circus' is purest machine funk as a driving bass bubbles into self-oscillation. Next, 'Just On For The Ride' bounces to a millennial deep house swing. Flip it for a dense future dub workout in 'Charlie Don't Surf,' then 'Hotshot' closes with a pad soaked vibe for the discerning warm up. A melting pot EP with all the right ingredients.'Something From Nothing' opens the door to Hearts Of Darkness. Step inside.

After blessing WOLF with a fantastic remix of Mr. Fries on WOLFEP033, Hodini steps up for a full EP on the label.
Having started out producing Hip Hop alongside Retrogott, the MPC addict has been turning his hand to more uptempo grooves in the past few years having released music on Max Graef & Glenn Astro's Money $ex Records & Damiano Von Erckert's AVA.The Hip Hop influences can be heard throughout the EP with the two A side cuts primed for the dance with their heavy soul and jazz sampled grooves. The flip features the hip hop beat, Represent Right Here & the EP rounds off with the mid tempo collab with Hade, Parashutes.

Comprising three sweetly-swung, groove-focused productions coaxed from her beloved MPC3000, it's the perfect summation of Peggy's unique sonic signature. TIP!

"Maktoop is from the Arabic word maktoob meaning 'written' or 'destiny' so the EP title could be interpreted as 'looking for destiny'," explains Peggy. "It's also a reference to two of my best friends: Sik (or 'Seek') and Bada (who taught me this Arabic word). They have always been very supportive of my music and I wanted to acknowledge that somehow."

The Korean-born Berlin resident has quickly established herself as a rising star of the underground in 2016 showcasing her production prowess on a pair of 12"s for Matt Edwards' Rekids label - "Art Of War" and "Art Of War (Part II)" - and an outing on Phonica's consistently excellent Phonica White imprint. She has been equally impressive as a DJ too, playing alongside the likes of Ben Klock, Moodymann, Move D and KiNK and has found a fan in Jackmaster who has invited her to play at his upcoming Mastermix parties in Glasgow and Dublin.

Key UK house player Richy Ahmed is next up on Play It Say It with a standout twotrack EP that proves just why he is such an essential talent.

Ahmed is currently in the headlines for his Four Thirty Two label, which has put out some of his own great music and will A&R plenty from his peers in the future. It has also spawned a big party in Ibiza at Privilege, and has hosted events from Glasgow's Sub Club to Leeds' Mint Club. All this comes after years of Richy headlining all over the world and working with labels like Hot Creations and Crosstown Rebels. Now really into his stride as a producer, his latest is sure to rock 'floors worldwide.

Up first is the big and bombastic 'Kimalaya' with its tribal tinged and jumbled beats and big woodblock hits. Wordless chants also join the groove, and the looseness of the whole thing is what will ensure it really gets the dancefloor going. Add in diving bass notes and some clever breakdowns and you have a sure-fire recipe for success.

Just as infectious is 'Come With Us', a more nimble and peak time tune with lively synths darting and jumping about above techno leaning drums. It's a freaky cut with inventive synth patterns that really get under your skin as it rumbles on.

With these latest tracks Richy Ahmed once again offers up some truly fresh house perspectives.

REPRESS ALERT: The return of the Silverlining by way of the Silverlining Dubs trademark that was credited to many a remix during the late 90s and early 00s. (Full press info to follow)

The Daydream adventure continues with a spatial trip produced by The Black Tone.
The brillant French producer starts this new chapter with "Utopia", a beautiful and immersive tune where a warm and enveloping melody evolves alongside a groovy bass.

He then unveils his abilities to create a smart and powerful track with "Alesco" where fine ethereal sounds play with impetuous hats on a delightful bassline.

On the B side, the talented MJOG delivers his interpretation of "Alesco" with a dynamic remix that combines the dreamy parts of the original version with strong drumbeat and sub bassline, a serious DJ cut.

The release ends with "Fazeer", an old school and hypnotizing tune where a mental synth is developing its grip on a nervous rhythm.

Egal 3 has returned to SOV under the name of VID, an alter ego for his real musical expression. Bringing 3 wicked tracks to your eardrums.. NIICE!

According to the label:

A1, "Sunshineset" has a subtle vocal and synth giving a perfect musical balance to the
track. While listening to it, we can we imagine the scenery of sunset and sunrise created
by the sound. This is indeed an amazingly powerful piece of music.

A2, "Ganduri" means "thoughts" in Romanian. As the title suggests, this artistic
composition is probably about his deep thoughts and realizations of music and life.

For the B1 side, we have "What Do You" sounding like his typical made for dance floor'
minimalistic tool with the accomplishment of hi-hat modulation falling into a perfect groove.

If you are looking for a half hour musical journey, this EP will tick all the boxes.

This second Disques Flegon recording is from Greita. After two initial tracks on the V.A. « Buffet Froid », the first and successful release of the French label, the parisian artist is back with his own EP « Faux Signal ».
The five tracks stand out blending the different inspirations that define the EP unique sound. From house to broken beat through Greita's love for Jazz Fusion and French library music, the piece travels with ease from contemporary dancefloors to cosy homes.
