The legendary Detroit icon Alan Oldham, aka DJ T-1000, makes his first guest appearance on BPC with his brand new EP Ratchet Traxx. With four highly explosive tracks, Oldham serves up his quintessential "Bangin' Funky Ass Techno": a straight-up 909 beat, undeviating basslines and vocal samples that constantly and relentlessly burrow into your senses. Time and again the master of his trade springs a surprise with quirky breaks and sublime details. In short, Ratchet Traxx has what it takes to become a classic and perfectly sums up everything we have come to expect from "Detroit Techno's Renaissance Man". Don't play this at home, kids...

This October will see the release of Jesper Ryom's 'Aviator' EP on La Fleur's Power Plant Records, backed with a remix from the label boss herself. Budding producer Jesper Ryom has gradually become a well-respected name in electronic music since making his debut on Power Plant Records with 'Nature Boy' in 2011. Since making his debut Jesper has relocated to Berlin to embrace the thriving music scene the city has to offer, and has gone on to release with German imprint Freude Am Tanzen, as well as recently supporting Marek Hemmann on his latest album tour, which stands as testament to his striking skills as a producer and live act. Here we see Jesper Ryom make a return to Power Plant Records with the long awaited 'Aviator' EP, again showcasing his signature melodic, groovy and heartfelt style. On the latter half of the release we a remix that comes from label-head La Fleur, who reshapes 'Aviator' with her signature upfront style, opting for a more stripped-back feel with her interpretation La Fleur crafts a dreamy reshape fuelled by chiming melodies, while the rugged rhythms and infectious sub tones generate a more dance floor focused feel.

Public Release adds another entry to its 2018 chapter with a four-track EP that engineers the intersection of gentle warm-up house of the Balearic genus and frosty chill-out. The 12-inch is the latest from Dylan Khotin-Foote, who goes by the mononym Khotin, a producer and DJ firmly planted at the epicenter of Vancouver's lively, colorful dance music scene.
The record begins with 'Aloe Drink,' a tune, which, like the beverage it's named after, is both specifically familiar and vaguely mysterious; it begets questions of origin despite its appearance of recognizability. Built around an acoustic, earthy drum pattern, it kicks off feeling fast-paced, propulsive, but this proves illusory when aqueous pads push into the frame and lend the piece a calm stillness.
Force of Nature (DJ Kent and KZA), making a rare appearance as remixers, preserves the original's intent and architecture while managing to find a way to subtly lift it in energy and register; extra drums and an augmenting synth lick ease it into a territory of dance floor functionality. A version as rousing and bumpin' as it is intimate and tender.
On the other side is 'Friend' and 'Strange Plant,' a harmonious pair that reflects the A-side's vibe as it refracts it into a spectrum of new hues and spaces. 'Friend' is a kaleidoscopic trip through time-warping trance, and 'Strange Plant' a sharper, punchier song that takes keyed-up rave chords and gives them some heart, some soul, by removing all the artificial drama they're normally consumed by.
A cleverly crafted and sincere, sweet record that telegraphs a wink of irony as it carries you through a vortex of technicolor fractals and flickering embers.

Lowfish is back! The electro veteran, who's been programming 808s since the early '90s, returns to Suction Records, the label he co-founded and debuted on in 1997, for his first release since 2011. This is suction046 - the 'Hypersensitivity' EP. It's been a while, but as the sprinkling of Lowfish compilation appearances - on labels like Analogical Force and Fundamental Records - over the intervening years have shown, Lowfish isn't interested in radical changes; it's all about quality and consistency. Flawlessly produced 808 drums, meticulously processed for maximum slam, combine with Lowfish's trademark synthesizer melodies and heavily-manipulated dialogue samples... best heard on standout cuts 'Apr294ms' - a melodic techno/electro dancefloor killer - and 'Favourable Reports' - a slice of 808 synthpop with melodic nods to vintage OMD and Gary Numan.
My Favorite Robot welcome the collaborative outfit of Rodion & Local Suicide for their next EP, which comes boosted by
remixes from Los Mekanikos, Moscoman and Fairmont, as well as artwork that is made up 3D prints of the act.
Rodion is an Italian classical piano player and acclaimed producer whose albums and EPs for the likes of Gomma, Nein
& Nang have helped to reshape modern disco. Also one half of Alien Alien and boss of the Roccodisco label, he is a real
studio visionary who for ten years has mixed up classical, trance and psychedelic sounds. He makes everything from
chamber music to computer game soundtracks, has remixed Giorgio Moroder and counts the likes of Tim Sweeney, Erol
Alkan and DJ Hell as fans. Berlin-based duo/couple Brax Moody and Vamparela aka Local Suicide have been
collaborating together since 2007, either as a DJ duo, in bands, or as remixers and producers. They have played all over
the world and are in favour with the likes of XLR8R, Thump and Mixmag for their fusions of slow techno, post disco and
acid.
These original analog tracks were recorded between 2014 and 2016 in Rodion s vintage studio in Berlin. They came about
when they all met following one of his gigs just after he moved there, and after being in touch online for a while. During
one of the nights, Rodion brought friend, producer and singer Ali Bey (part of the Belgrade DJ collective Beyond House
and a famous record digger) to contribute.
Impressive opener Abu Dhabi includes samples from field recordings from all over the world. The most prominent is the
recording from an airport in Bangkok where Brax Moody and Vamparela were waiting to catch their plane to Saigon
and it ended up being the main vocal hook. The alluring track is a wonky feeling number with gurgling synth lines and
gentle releases of white noise lulling you into the groove. A searching synth line and distant siren add urgency and the
whole thing feels urban and futuristic.
Comprised of Mexico City producers Max Jones and Eddie Mercury, Los Mekanikos combine raw hypno-rhythm tracks
with pumping grooves that pay homage to Chicago, Detroit and Berlin. Their special remix is another late night and
unhinged number that encourages you to freak out amongst the panning and paranoid synth patterns and robotic grooves.
Then comes the brilliant True Love Floats with Ali Beys singing and Vamparela s vocoded vocals. The interplay between
the two is tense and alien and makes for a perfectly inhuman groove with popping bell sounds, undulating pads and spooky
deep space ambiance.
Remixing this one is Berlin via Tel Aviv artist of the moment and Disco Halal label head Moscoman, whose raw machine
grooves have impressed on labels like ESP Institute, Correspondant and I'm a Cliche. His slow and purposeful version is
deep and psychedelic with disorientating vocals and blistered synths wallowing in a menacing urban landscape. Buy it
digitally and you will also get a fine remix from label regular and Canadian Fairmont. He runs the Beachcoma label, has
worked with cult outlet Border Community over the years and mixes up dark disco and goth into his own fresh sounds. His
remix here is more direct and driven, with powerful drums and well sculpted synths making it another great rework.
This is a unique sounding package featuring plenty of heavyweight names and marks another cultured outing from the
always considered My Favourite Robot label.
We first met Cabasa at the Worldwide Internet Memes Meeting in Daussoulx (BE) back in December 2014. He did some un-understandable jokes about music, it was boring. But he was kinda funny and we had a lot of money to spend on stupid stuff. So, we thought it could be interesting to press a record based on his boring jokes. We still don't really understand our own decision, but here's the outcome of 3 years of hard labour. »
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Fathered by Lium, deejay who actively took part in the Belgian New Beat scene back in the late 80's, Cabasa is the continuity of his father's passion. Drawing influences from electronica to jungle and techno, he's seeking for boundaries between beatless and rhythmic compositions; looking for the most danceable and esoteric music.

The word 'Icosahedrite' refers to the geometric figure icosahedron, and arises from the idea that the EP is an amalgam of electronic music styles with many other aspects of traditional musical genres, like jazz or blues. Metaphorically, those genres act as the multiple sides of an imaginary icosahedron. Something complex yet solid that sits outside of the conventional emerges as the final result. A1 'Phason Jazz' - This is a track where conventional jazz structures converge with electronica, and the influences Eduardo gets from Miles Davis and John Coltrane shine themselves. Twisted keyboards patterns mixed with delays and deafening effects form a place to get lost, and eventually repetition becomes hypnotism and turns into an automatic trance. B1 ' Mr Dewey D' - Mr Dewey D is referring again to Miles, and his first and second surnames. This song is much more influenced by Dark Comedy (aka Kenny Larkin) and all the records that he throws out on the french label 'Poussez' titled 'FunkFaker: Music Saves My Soul' Blues breath tirelessly in this composition where there is not much time for an objective analysis and where everything finally leads to an insane ending. B2 'Rhythmic Soundscapes ' - This track is, I guess, the most conventional part of the EP, Nonetheless, it retains special qualities. Floating pianos with delays are combined with bass sounds that go back and forth, forming a musical piece with techno sensibilities that I hope will give opportunities to the most daring DJs.
NYC native Eric Maltz has been a professional producer and pianist for more than 20 years. After landing on the techno scene in 2017 with the double vinyl 'NS-17' EP on Levon Vincent's Novel Sound, Eric Maltz releases his first single on his own label Flower Myth.Opening on the title track , a bruising slice of machine techno, the live touch of the New-York producer stands out throughout 'Pathway'. On 'Ah-Shu-De-Ohu', paranoid chimes swirl out of focus while chopped up vocals command attention. Free floating chords glide through a meditative soundscape on closer 'Line Through'. Flower Myth will release 4 more singles from Eric Maltz throughout 2018, one of them a collaboration with Cristina Valentina, the powerful voice from 'We Have Power' (NS17).Having recently signed with Uzuri booking and artist management, Eric will soon be bringing his singular live techno to his home-base city of Berlin and other major cities across Europe and the World.
Fango's non-traditional journey through the human body continues. After the first essay on interior organs Viscera 1/3', it's now the turn of the central nervous system to be analyzed. And here comes Cerebellum, Nervum and Cortex, three delicate operations of surgery on the inner workings of Fango's head. Part 2 of a trilogy that Fango conceived on the physicality of music, tracks that are going straight to your heart, to your stomach and so on. In this case it's your brain and we hope to give you a nervous breakdown. Enjoy.

A Quasar is the most luminous object in the known universe. It emits extreme amounts of visible light, but radiates like crazy on all other wavelengths, as well. Here you can get as close to a particularly energetic Quasar as no man has ever been before - during an adventurous space flight with Felix Eul and a bunch of other well-travelled sound cosmonauts. This voyage takes you to the final frontiers and beyond where you might even encounter strange aliens like the Pianoctopus, known to sneak its tentacles into the ears of unsuspecting astronauts and to tickle their skullcaps from the inside. By the way, during our flight we might experience turbulences which you will experience as sudden, adrenaline-loaded outbursts of euphoria. They are caused by transdimensional discharges along the wings of our spaceship, a phenomenon known as Interplay.
Here we go with Share Yourself Series Part 3. This time we have the digital releases from
Nicolas Duvoisin, taken from the Relax2018 "Duck Fleas" e.p. which haven't been on the 12" yet!

Norwegian duo Ost & Kjex make a welcome return to Crosstown Rebels. Their Private Dancer EP is a masterclass in producing dance-floor ready rhythms. They welcome fellow Norwegian Whalesharkattacks to the mix to provide her dark yet dreamy vocals.
'We had a fascination with Tina's Private Dancer since first being exposed to it by Pat Sharp on Sky Trax in the 80's. Whalesharkattacks personifies everything that's cool about the 80's, so when we met her we knew we had to cut a version' Ost & Kjex
Private Dancer is as dark as it is melodic, with eerie drum pads and a medley of dreamt synths. Norwegian vocalist Whalesharkattacks, whose music has been described as 808 goth, lends a distorted vocal. On Nightingale a burdenging bass adds a sense of urgency interlaced with vocals reminiscent of the 80s era. Cosmic synths float side by side samples of beautiful bird song. A titillating work of art with a mesmerising beat.

Another critical sampling of Vancouver's evergreen dance music community. The A-side unearths two Canadian classics-in-waiting from Neo Image, with some dreamily broken garage and sparkling, heady ambience. Florist and D Tiffany split the flip — low-key, breakadawn shufflers. Both sides are guaranteed to kick up dust on the dancefloor, and once again 100% CANCON certified!'

Two years after his last outing on Get Physical, Roland Leesker returns to the label of which he is Managing Director with a brilliant new track that comes with a remix from Cardopusher. Leesker has only put out a select few releases over the last 15 years-both solo and as DJ Carrera and R&R with none other than Ricardo Villalobos-but he has a truly fully formed sound. This tune has been doing serious damage in the clubs for a while now and makes you wonder why Leesker doesn't release more! Entitled 'Thunderstorm' it is seven minutes plus of moody and dramatic tech with heavy synth clouds, whining machines and turbulent drums all whipping up a storm. Manic keys and heavy chords come in and out as fizzing textures all make it a real synapse firing affair that is designed to arrest the attention of huge crowds, and it sure will do that. Venezuelan born Cardopusher has a diverse and experimental sound that takes him from techno to electro to acid to rave to house on labels like Super Rhythm Trax, Zone and BNR. Here he masterfully cooks up another frenzied track with spraying acid, heavy, marching and industrial drums and a real sense of rave energy that will dazzle as much as delight in any set. Finally, Leesker offers up his own 'Dschinn mix' providing even more raw energy. Angry drum rolls, stomping kicks and huge hi hats all piled up and force you onto action. It's a superbly metallic, in your face track to wake up a crowd in the late night hours. With this EP, Get Physical's sensational 2017 keeps on getting better.
The new release features 6 tracks and follows Julien's critically acclaimed debut album, Fallen. Released in 2016, the autobiographical LP was a bold new direction for Julien, and the first release under his birth name. Over the years, the Apron Records boss' bold, experimental electronics, jagged club cuts and outside-the-box collaborations have seen him carve out a lane all of his own making. His debut LP was divided into two musically contrasting sides, and told the tale of a fallen angel though jazz-fusion, chiming soundscapes and dark acid-tinged techno.
Since his album release, Julien has continued his creative streak by playing across the globe, from Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai to Montreal and Melbourne, and further developing his label, which released a string of underground 12's in 2017 from the likes of Max Graef, Hanna, Molinaro and more.
On 'Bloodline', Steven continues the soundtrack style mood of 'Fallen' - channeling ominous analog techno, drifting synth-house masterpieces, warm soul and hints of new age. Both the title and artwork is a nod to the influence of Julien's family on his rich musical world and distinct nonconformist style, explaining how: 'the influence my family has given me growing up and my ancestors from Africa to native Indians from the Caribbean, has all played a big part in the music I create.'
Recorded in Apron Studios based in East London, each track on 'Bloodline' also features a tr808 or a piece of a 808, as a dedication to the iconic Japanese engineer Ikutaro Kakehashi, who passed away April 2017. The much-loved Roland founder and TR-808 creator revolutionised electronic music in the 1980s and 90s.
The Lionoil pride reascends with a four-tracker from Edinburgh's Telfort. His first EP for Lionoil arrives on the back of a triptych of sold out self-releases, which gained adulation and support across the globe from folks like Move D, Axel Boman, Smallpeople, Moxie, Tim Sweeney, Jane Fitz, Jacques Renault and many more. With Telfort's 'Rooms For Speculation', he delivers four versatile deep house cuts on a label he is no stranger to. Having appeared on the very first Lionoil 12' he regularly features on their line-ups and forms an integral part of the family's party force in Edinburgh and further afield.
The title track opens with rapturous piano chords and stirring sample-work, before deploying burly bass stabs under wholesome rhodes deepness. 'Some Other Time' accelerates on, sweeping through layers like a dreamy dystopian car chase. On the flip, 'Barberweed' turns the temperature up to 'peak summer scorcher' as dulcet samples float above another of Telfort's boundless basslines tempered with those spiky 909s. Lastly, 'Exploding Car' mellows off the EP, despatching a warming orchestra of dusty strings, a driving weapon for the warmup.
This essential summer record is undoubtedly Telfort's most accomplished to date, cementing his deep idiosyncratic style.

Memento Records is proud to announce the licensing of 'Brain Freeze',
originally produced by Carl Craig as Tres Demented and released on his
legendary Planet-E in 2006.
For this exclusive re-issue on Memento, Carl´s original stems have
been remixed and rearranged by Luciano. His additional production has
tuned up 'Brain Freeze' into an even sharpened peak-time weapon, rich
of intense sequenced synthesisers and thrilling breaks rotating around
a fistful of crushing cuts of the original voice hooks.
The original mix is a memorable dark, relentless, acidic track
pervaded by the wild shouts that have defined the Tres Demented
project; a never ending ascension of attracting percussions and funky
bites, running now on the wide grooves of the whole vinyl side.

Next up on DABJ, Hissman aka Fabio Monesi is an artist we have been massive fans of since we started playing "Nobody's Talking" (which featured on our 2014 DABJ BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix) a few years back... Masterfully crafted mechanized, rough, tough techno belters in that inimitable Hissmanstyle... don't sleep on this.

German producer Philipp Priebe is set to release his latest work, Our Sins, on Beirut based label Fantôme de Nuit.
Philipp Priebe is a romantic and this rare attribute, at least in the world of electronic music, lies at the center of the music that he creates. The German producer combines warm, melancholic sounds with pushing elements to create a whimsical blend of organic and mechanic attributes. His first release on Fantôme de Nuit is a testament to his ability to create.
Preibe opens his latest release with 'Above You', and the leading track is an excellent representation of the German House sound. Beginning with some almost jacking drum programing, a fat bass line quickly joins the arrangement. The track continues to build over the next minute and then, like a breath of fresh air, melodic pads provide a whimsical like quality. Preibe spends the remainder of the track building and breaking it down, each time adding a bit of life to the brooding opener.
'Kyoto' is a spaced out slow burner that packs some serious punch. Lead by acid dipped keys, the track features a barrage of ambient blips that create an atmosphere deserving of only the best systems. 'Nara' veers away from its two predecessors and ventures into more techy territory. Layered with blips and
complex drum programming, 'Nara' takes the listener to another dimension before bringing them back down again.
Priebe saves the title track for last, but it's well worth the wait. Built around a single kick and a wealth of delay, 'Our Sins' slowly builds up around itself. By the time the vocal sample comes in it's too late, the listener is completely enveloped. The dubby bassline pushes the track forward and some clever chords keep it tight. And just when it should drop, Phiebe breaks it apart. Dropping the tempo, Phiebe slows the journey to a standstill for just long enough before the kick returns to keep the party going.
Philipp Priebe's 'Our Sins' is out on vinyl and digital for Fantôme de Nuit Records.

Greenvision is the collaborative brainchild of two ESP Institute artists, Juan Ramos and Luca Trentini AKA Trent, both longtime fixtures of Berlin's infamous playground known as Cocktail d'Amore. Separately, these two explore their own very personal avenues of expression, putting their time in the trenches and endlessly polishing their works (this makes Juan's third release with the label), but when their efforts overlap we're gifted a view into their uncanny synergy. Juan and Trent channel an exorbitant amount of smoke-fueled creativity, building layers upon layers into music so dense that the bulk of their studio time might then be spent navigating and formalizing their output into tangible tracks. Greenvison's collective debut with the ESP Institute showcases three intense cerebral workouts, Banana Paradiso, Rambutan and The Color Of Maracuja, an array of experiments pulling from all the corners of the duo's imagination—it is disorienting, cacophonous, introverted and psychedelic, but at the same time playful, melodic, euphoric and undoubtably arresting—guaranteed to induce hallucinations under proper circumstances. We welcome the induction of Greenvision to the ESP Institute, and with us as your guide, we welcome you to accompany on our descent into their abyss. Try not to get lost.
Times of innocence; « Etire en avant » is a track by I:Cube from 1996 recorded straight to tape, when he was still doing music in his bedroom at his parents' house. This slow jam contains french hypnotizing aerobic lyrics combined with a funk filtered sample, perfect for a tantalising disco sleaze
late night set.
On the flip side, Abel from the infamous Red Light Records Amsterdam offers us a surprising re-jam based on the original « XXXX » track released last year on the Oeil Cube E.P.
Speeding it up from 33 to 45 rpm, and then extending it for maximum effect.
From cinematic slow boogie to proper boogie monster.

After the success of the 'Abused V.a.' that dropped last winter, Samani return with their second vinyl release. In the last few years the label - founded by F.eht - has grown in leaps and bounds, with many digital releases climbing charts and bringing new artists to light.A:The opening track titled 'Conduccion' is a production from Slovenian based artist, and Innocent Music label-head Aney. F. One for the dance floor, this track is full of energy and builds and evolves perfectly. Aney's sound has spread across the world in the last few years and this record is a perfect example of why his music has become so popular in the scene. The second track on Side A is one that takes us darker and deeper. Cicuendez has set a heavy vibe for his track '5 Years'. The elements that make up this track come together perfectly and form a well rounded thumping production. Not only are we happy to hear this production on Samani, but we also look forward to hearing more from this talented producer in the future.B:F.eht has stepped forward to open up the flip side with a remix of Aney's track on Side A, this time offering a slightly different vibe whilst keeping the energy on offer tom the original. This is another one fit for the club, and one that show's how far the head of Samani has come in the last few years. Finally, 'Jessabelle'. This production by Battric & MIVU is a real roller, you only have to listen to the choppy bassline to realise that. The breakdown half way through the track uses some really crisp synths to lighten the mood, before breaking back in to a slightly evolved version of the main body of the track. This duo are definitely a pair to look out for this year. SMNI002 is 100% one for the record bag, and will be one heard across the world in future months.

German producer Markus Suckut returns with a mesmerising techno release entitled 'New Life EP', a precursor to his forthcoming album on Rekids. First appearing on Rekids in 2015, Markus Suckut has since become a vital member of the Rekids family when not running his own labels SCKT and Pattern Research. Pounding drums and atmospheric effects initiate 'New Life' before a groove laden bassline and scintillating synths ebbs into the mix. 'Mistakes Are For Everyone' then generates an oscillating aesthetic whilst syncopated kicks join echoing nuances, leading into the rattling sounds of 'Shimmer' with its ghostly chords and tantalising melodies.

R&S welcome Dutch dance icon Maarten van der Vleuten back into the fold. - 'Outrage' is a compilation of Maarten van der Vleuten's Integrity project tracks, originally released on R&S sub-label Outrage Recordings in 1992, now remastered by Matt Colton Maarten van der Vleuten is one of the most influential figures in the Dutch scene, and also a man of many aliases - between 1987 to 2007 he racked up releases with over two dozen projects producing Detroit techno, electro, house, experimental and ambient tracks and remixes. Still highly active and inspired in 2018, R&S see the Outrage release as a perfect opportunity to re-introduce Van der Vleuten's masterful productions to a new generation, adding to his existing influential fans such as Optimo, Global Communication, Ellen Allien and Dave Clarke. During the 90s he recorded mainly dance/techno for R&S Records, as Orpheus, 48V Phantom Power and Mantrax. He also memorably released on Apollo Records (check his excellent In-Existence 'Moonwater' album), Djax-Up-Beats, See Saw and Klang Elektronik amongst others.
Van Der Vleuten's ongoing collaboration with R&S founder Renaat Vanderpapeliere saw the later set up Outrage Recordings in early 1992 to release Van der Vleuten's tracks that didn't fit on R&S Records, recording as Integrity, Zimt, Flux and Pultec.
'Every couple of weeks i would drive up to Ghent with my new tracks and meet Renaat,' explains Martin. "We then went straight to Foon Mastering where we played the DATs and decided which tracks would be cut - i had carte blanche when it came to the 'sound' of the label. Van der Vleuten's music on Outrage Recordings moved in the opposite direction of the contemporary rave and gabber scenes; while Techno became faster and shifted to a more aggressive sound, Van der Vleuten focused more on composing and arranging over danceability. This resulted in these EP's being difficult to sell back in 92 but listening now it feels vital and fresh well over two decades since they were recorded which is an obvious sign of
Van Der Vleuten's deft talent. The release also includes Van der Vleuten's collaborations with another dutch icon, Mike Kivits (aka DJ Aardvarck). The pair first met In 1989 when Kivits would sometimes play his demos on cassette-tapes at local clubs. The pair became fast friends and Van Der Vieuten invited Kivits into the studio where they found a natural chemistry that ultimately resulted in the tracks 'Nightshift' and 'Intens' which feature on 'Outrage', both written and recorded on the same day.

Absent EP produced by the Spanish musician Sendo, is the result of his lifelong passion for sci-films and the aim to translate these movies into sound. Three tracks engaged into esoteric electronic and ambient-styled music. A very adventurous trip through utterly deep soundscapes and mysteriously rattling compositions with a cinematic approach.
Unknown Label rises from the need to move away from the conventional music industry and to find a place where the music speaks for itself, where artists can go beyond their limits and fully express their potential.
Our aim is to constantly better ourselves by the continuous experimentation in the deeper side of music, delivering to you something new, real and unfiltered like a diamond in the rough.
Third release from Enzo Leep & Coriesu (Rewire/Bodyparts).
