Solar Phenomena keeps up a busy schedule with the third EP of 2018. This one comes from cult UK artist Duckett who's past collaborations include Tom Demac, Grimes Adhesif and Leif. Recently he has served up solo EPs for labels like Galdoors, UntilMyHeartStops and Wisdom Teeth. Mixing up elements of IDM, techno and ambient, he is a sculptor of timeless tracks that come from another world.

'Could I Pulverise A Leg' opens up the EP with trippy synths falling down the face of the track, with minimal drums and corrugated bass racing below. It's the sound of space travel in turbulent times. 'Cycling Is Crushed Inside A Moment He Forgot' is more sparse, with watery keys and curious melodies drifting about above another barely there groove. It's heavenly, celestial stuff that places you in a microbial world of neon colours and beautifully alien sounds. 'Flex' is more for the club, with broken mechanical drums and fractured vocal sounds all grinding together to make for something truly new and original sounding. 'Risks' then rounds out the EP with edgy ambience and coarse hits, swirling pads and an ominous suspense that keeps you engaged throughout. It rounds out a hugely inventive EP.

Eric Fetcher has been given the honour of contributing to Invite's Choice and does so with a four-track banger for it's ninth output.

Kaissa s neurotic synth and wobbly bass combined with it s forceful hi-hat open this EP in a stripped-down fashion, which makes it perfect to build tension and make transitions in any dirfections while mixing. Mephisto continues on the path chosen with coherent and hypnotising synthesis, whilst keeping a funky kind of feel due to the very present kick and hi-hats, yet has a darker feel to it. Deep Blue on the B-side is a more four-to-the-flour track with a rousing synth and banging hi-hat, perfect for lifting up a crowd! Cray Blitz combines hypnotising bleep-like sounds and a mind-blowing string with droning low-end sounds. Hypnotising like the other tracks - but with more drive - this EP is closed down. Eric Fetcher showcases his take on techno which fits perfectly between both modern day and oldschool techno!

* For their third iteration, Berlin-based Foul-Up continue their exploration of mind-expanding electronics and off-standards sonic borderlands with Glaswegian producer Mark Kastner aka Galaxian at the controls. His new EP, 'Blowback', makes for a blood-and-thunder wayfaring into deeply anxiogenic terrains and confined audio spaces, bridging an earthly post-industrial and ambient murk - 'Truth Seizure', 'Parasitic Seduction' - with mythical visions of everlasting human struggles as seen through a broken kaleidoscope of ruffneck electro and mind-altering drone flexions - 'Ouroboros', 'Coercion'. From this point Kastner fast-forwards from the unsettling inertia of a grey-lacquered suburbia up to a smouldering bedlam rife with acidic geysers, primitive drum motifs and untamed machines gargling in agony as interstellar winds blow loud and heavy. Galaxian sure feels at his best when the pressure is high and the comfort zone exceeded, moving against the cultural zeitgeist and its affiliated schools of thought to fight arbitrary paradigms and noxious ideologies with his own arms.

* If you haven't come across his work yet, just make sure you fasten your seat belt first and, well, hold on tight to it. Blasting out fast-breaking electro grooves over jagged tech-y pulsations and dystopian atmospherics, he increases the strain by lashing forcible breaks and laser-sharp synth lines turned onto the highest pitch and torn in flaming vibratos, growing nervier with every bar as a seemingly helter-skelter vortex of loud, burning bass surfs builds up on the epic 'Blowback'. 'Forget About It' finds him deftly manoeuvring off the grid for a trippy hybrid of gravity-defying garage/jungle - leaning towards further elevated heights with its finely arranged flight of blissed-out, textured pads and altered vox questioning human responsibility and its natural appetite for destruction, putting in perspective the subsequent blindness regarding the consequences of our actions as a voice drones an unequivocal speech: 'And we just want to try and not think about it, forget about it - stay away from it, as far as possible (...) Who are we'. Human compassion and profound artistic authenticity as echoed in the age of disinformation and masks multiplication are at the core of Galaxian's musical ethos. Preaching the assumption of nonstandard pluralness in a world dominated by greed and dependence, 'Blowback' resounds like a compelling act of faith.

Celestial electronics are always at the heart of James Welsh's music, via a number releases for labels such as Erol Alkan's Phantasy Sound, Wolf Music and Hypercolour. 'Hammers' is Welsh's second release for Futureboogie (following 2013's 'Craven' EP), and finds the UK based producer on particular fine form.
With its airy pads and shrouded ambience, 'Hammers' drives a 303 bass line right through its centre, perfectly balancing the tracks emotive and darker sides.
Hodge (Livity Sound/Hemlock) comes on board with an industrial sized remix, carving out some heavyweight tribal drums and additional percussion and letting the acid do its tweakable thing.
'Denergy' meanwhile channels some electro tinged bassline moves over super funky, tight drums, a flourishing acid line, and laced with the futurism and sound aesthetics that's keeping James Welsh at the top of his game.

Kenneth Scott finally making his debut on Vakant, long overdue, such a great DJ and repeated guest at Vakant parties. Phew.. Remixes by The Exaltics, co-owner of acclaimed electro imprint Solar One Music, and Evigt Mörker of Northern Electronics fame. The Exaltics & Evigt Mörker Remix will only appear on the vinyl.

The third instalment of the Bodybuilder Quartet has arrived, and once again label boss Nachtbraker adds an exciting name to the Quartet Series manifesto. Moscow native Kuzma Palkin previously released a double 10' and a double 12' on quality Russian imprint Gost Zvuk, but is also known for his productions under his Audiocad (Between Us) and Kausto (Shanti Records) noms de guerre. Make sure to check those out if you haven't already. Here, Kuzma serves up an EP as deep as they come, with greasy, industrial and glitchy sounds floating on steady beats. Title tune 'Macho Culture' is a peaktime roller for darker club spaces with its deep melodic stabs, slapping snares and a haunting synth. Also on the A is 'Muscle Mass Increase', which is cut from the same haunting cloth but comes with an edgy saw synth that will have the punters reach for the lazers. Flip over for 'Proper Sauna Chill', which comes with a thumping kick, beautifully crafted sound design details and an undeniable groove. Closing Kuzma's Quartet Series debut EP is 'Krepkiye Bitsepsky', another showcase of amazing sound design and warped stabs floating over a steady break beat and groovy bass line to round things off nicely.

French by way of Berlin DJ/producer La Fraicheur finally delivers with a first 9-track album, 'Self-Fulfilling Prophecy', her first release on the InFiné label. This remarkably dense, dancefloor-oriented album oscillates

between techno, ambient and electronic music, a mesmeric yet pounding effort that gets the body and the mind moving.

For over a decade now, first in Paris, then Montreal and now in Berlin, La Fraicheur has been brewing her own blend of Deep House & Techno beats, making a name for herself with her signature sound of emotionally charged

Techno sets. Marathon DJ, she is a resident in Berlin's renowned Wilde Renate and part of the Female:Pressure network. She can go on for countless hours, running the gamut from classics to new songs released only two hours earlier.

Expanding her craft by producing her own music ranging from ravy epic Tech-House to dark pumping Electro, spacious open air Deep House to melancholic Electronica, she spent the summer of 2017 doing an artist residency with the Berlin-Detroit Connection (organisation founded by Mike Banks (UR) and Dimitri Hegemann (Tresor) at the Underground Resistance HQ in Detroit, working on her first solo album. 'I want to use moments of dancing to stimulate a bit of political awakening' she says, and, speaking of her album in particular, (on which are scattered various samples of politically explicit content (for example, excerpts from aninterview with Angela Davis). While 'Self Fulfilling Prophecy' clearly aspires to raise awareness, it does so subtly, without ever relegating music to the second class. This is neither 'ready-to-think' or 'ready-to-dance', but an assembly of sophisticated rhythms, sounds and words that it are up to each listener to interpret in their own way. La Fraicheur does not seek to deliver a message, or impose a discourse, but to distil an idea and suggest a relationship to the world - a report to the world based on the affirmation of self and acceptance of others in all their differences.

The second release from producer EOMAC's new Dublin-based label EOTRAX comes from nomadic Irish producer LAIR. This is an exciting step for the label, moving away from the dancefloor into more diverse, eclectic territory.

LAIR is a producer far from the norm, especially for those releasing on an electronic music label. She classifies herself as a composer, producer, vocalist, artist, sound-healer and yoga teacher. With a diverse background that includes singing classical and traditional material she's expanded her artistic approach into a diverse web-like multi-disciplinarian approach in keeping with her nomadic life. Currently she creates electronic music, contemporary classical music and healing music under a variety of alias' including Laura Kilty and LuminouSounds (for healing music). She is also in the duo noeverything with Eomac.

In her words my LAIR music is how I see the world - this one and others channeled - expressed through layers of my vocals which I shape electronically. The music has elements of mysticism, sacred geometry, energy, sound with intention and just sounds I love formed to make music I love. I see music as I create it. I work with lots of layers - for me it's like creating an aural representation of the image I see.'

These layers of sound can be found in her debut self-titled EP - in the deep, ritualistic drones of 'Invoke' and 'Meld' on the A-side, and the more concise rhythmical patterns of 'Searching in Circles' on the flip.

Eotrax has also enlisted the talents of respected techno producer Rrose who features with two remixes of 'Meld' - one for the vinyl and a second 'distillation' as a digital bonus exclusive.

Shanti Celeste returns to Peach Discs in 2019, teaming up good friend Hodge for the label's first release of the year. The three tracks that make up the 'Soba Dance' EP showcase the best of both producer's styles - from the galloping rhythm and misty pads of the title track to the propulsive momentum of 'Alulu' and the trippy, sombre slide of 'Pips,' it's a record that finds Shanti and Hodge teasing out new ideas together while retaining that dancefloor magic. 2019 will kick off in style at Blumoog music. Catalogue N.009 District Omega ep is a classy blend of electronic house and techno beauty. One of the key players in the development of electronic music scene Dan Curtin, joins Blumoog for another fine project. With over 70 singles and 9 LP's to his name Dan brings all his valuable experience into this number by chipping in 3 tracks out of 4.

A1 Pay to win, is an intricate, driving and bass heavy techno floater with a refreshing feel to it and with a couple of suspenseful breaks. M.R.E.U.X loved Pay to win and did a superb job remixing it on A2, a darker and more sequential approach redefine this tune but maintaining the heavy bass line. B1 District Omega is a percussive and uplifting 6 minute of upbeat house with crafty voice inserts. B2 ends this ep with a lovely jacking and jazzy house bomb with some virtuoso solos that will make you go wow!
Dan certainly knows how to tweak those knobs.

Epic dancefloor techno and High Tech Funk from DMX Krew on his own label Breakin' Records!

2018 played host to a bumper crop of sounds from some of Philly's grittiest, including Great Circles mainstays M//R and Chaperone. To close out the year that was, we are pleased to present Heckadecimal's 'Murder Tape.'

A Minneapolis-based producer and acid auteur, Heckadecimal has been a fixture within the vibrant Midwestern electronic music community for nearly 20 years. Founder of the legendary 'Anti-human' events and co-curator of the ever-prolific Always Human Tapes imprint - alongside Ryan Wurst and Peter Lansky - Heckadecimal's reputation is one of unrelenting creativity and tireless advocacy for sonic experimentation. His work has found its way to light via a slew of pseudonyms and stage monikers, including The Worm, noface and Wonder Sirens.

In short - Heckadecimal lives and breathes the sonic matter that he leaves pouring out of studio monitors, busted bar systems and finely tuned rave stacks, wherever his travels take him.
Live performance lies at the core of Heckadecimal's practice. When he stormed through Inciting HQ in Philly earlier this summer, he took command over an arsenal of hardware that reminded us of how Octave One or Shawn Rudiman might show up. These were machines that he had lived with; touched with custom modifications, hand-drawn stickers and pockmarks incurred in battle, one got the sense that the gear was a personal extension of the artist.

Perhaps it's a bit maudlin, but we feel a certain kinship with this project. Indeed, these tracks at times feel very much of a piece with the gnarled tonalities in which our stable typically traffics; all low-slung riddims that reach at equal lengths towards mutated IDM aesthetics and post-Packard Plant techno extrusions. These are future perfect grooves that glide along under the vast Midwestern sky, providing a fertile communication conduit with the City of Brotherly Love.

" 'Workaholic Paranoid Bitch' is taken from Marie Davidson's most recent album Working Class Woman released on Ninja Tune in October 2018. Russian DJ and producer Nina Kraviz delivers two different versions of her remix including a dub mix. Day Dreaming' also features on Working Class Woman and has been remixed by Russian/British/Ghanaian producer Afrodeutsche also delivering a beat free remix."

Phuture only released a handful of tracks (plus an album a full decade after their debut), but have remained a legendary act in the development of Chicago house for their stomping 1987 single "Acid Trax", the track that began and defined the acid house sound. The group was formed by DJ Pierre, synthesizer fan Spanky and Herb J in 1985 as a recording entity to produce records for Pierre to mix into his sets at several crucial Chicago clubs. After being turned on to the high-pitched squelch of the Roland TB-303 synthesizer (marketed as a bassline machine for solo guitarists), the trio emerged from the studio with a track they called "In Your Mind". Ron Hardy previewed the track at his legendary club the Music Box - where it became known as "Ron Hardy's Acid Track" - and Phuture re-made the cut with production by Marshall Jefferson. Released on Trax Records in 1987, the single created a dividing point between the Chicago sound before and after it, with hundreds of "Acid Trax" imitations flooding the local market. After it caught on in Britain as well, the single soundtracked the wave of club madness which coalesced in the rave movement by the end of the decade.

Re mastered for 2014 and re released in original 1987 artwork. Released in conjunction with Trax / Harmless.

Patrick Topping has announced that he will be launching his own record label, TRICK , a home for Patrick to exhibit his versatility as a producer, as well as a platform to showcase the wealth of the emerging talent which he has been pushing in his DJ sets.

Packed with three original tracks from Patrick, the EP-titled 'Watch What Ya Doing ' comes with the launch of his label TRICK and as a much anticipated follow up to the late 2017 Hot Creations smash 'Be Sharp Say Nowt', which continued to dominate throughout 2018. A year which proved another hugely successful one for the UK producer who was called on for the remix duties for Calvin Harris and added Music Radar 's ' Best House Producer/DJ 2018' ' and his third DJ Award for Tech House Artist to his list of accolade that include his DJ Mag ' Best of British ' award and reaching number 11 in Resident Advisor 's 2016 top DJs poll.

This debut release on TRICK showcases a change in sound from the acclaimed artist and an evolution of Patrick 's ever-maturing style. The British DJ displays a new style as a producer, one which has always been a part of his genre-hopping DJ sets, but for the first time as a producer, Patrick delivered an EP packed with darker techno undertones and raw influences.

The imprint's launch follows the British producer's sell-out headline shows at Manchester Academy, two consecutive nights Dublin's District 8, London institution fabric, his very own takeover at The Warehouse Project and as far as Melbourne's huge Shed 14 . Entering a refined and developed chapter of his career, the announcement follows Patrick' s Boxing Day set at Digital, Newcastle , the last ever party in his acclaimed Motion event series, with the UK producer looking to support and nurture emerging talent in future via the launch of ' TRICK.'

For his debut release, Ronan delivers 'Prolongez La Magie', a 4 track EP that explores both the cerebral and somatic sectors of modern dance music. Touching on his influences as a classically trained instrumentalist and jazz improviser he uses the forms of club music to create sonic environments that envelop the listener with layers of narrative depth and idiosyncratic character. From the whipcrack bass pressure of 'Internal Revelation' and the broken beat trance of 'Surface Dive' to the aqueous and narcotic take on UK techno found in 'Cellular Matrix' and 'Tracheal Impulse' he finds himself in a singular space, setting up a strong and unique foundation from where there's no telling what he'll come up with next.

Detroit - Italo - Electro, also for the new generation.

Following volumes 1 & 2, Cultivated Electronics label-head Sync 24 hails another world-class line up to the helm to bring 'From The Dark' to a strong close with Volume 3. Finnish duo Morphology kick things off with 'Sentinel'; a gritty stepper with a sinister synth riff, followed by Alpha 606's 'Zombie King' of wiggy arpeggios and off-kilter analogue delays. Flip for the B1 where Silicon Scally enters with a raspy and cutting, harmonious jam. B2, which is a collaboration between CE head-honcho Sync 24 and NYC based Joonam, Prada, is a 140bpm big-room monster, with a reverberated low end and quivering moans of spooky voices. On the next disc, is Miami-based Calderin with a sickening groove that draws you in and holds you where you are from start to finish. Following up is Brooklyn based techno stalwart Donor under his new SC-164 electro alias switching things up with earthy snare rattles and a tweaked-out, panicky synth lines. Nomadic (of UK electro label Touchin' Bass) then rolls out an addictive chord progression above tight, snappy beats, while masked, Dutch duo Animistic Beliefs close out the series with winding, morish pads that draw from a sci fi sound-palate, showcasing a glimpse into their astounding live set-up.

The Second Addition enlists the skills of Italian DJ and producer Andrea Caioni and Israeli-born Stephan Bazbaz, alongside powerhouse remixes from Michael James and Sydney born Monika Ross.

On the A side of this club-friendly and intergalactic cut, is Andrea Caioni. Born out of beautiful San Benedetto del Tronoto in Italy, his sounds are characterised by minimal grooves and numinous pads and has previously had the privilege of releasing music on (IO) Mulen's Hoarder last year as well as being a part of the eminent op:um parties based in his home town. Remixing this mesmerising track, is the man on fire, Michael James. 2018 was a big year for the UK local, where many of vinyl only releases on Mulen Records & Constant Sound saw almost instant sell outs, that lead to him being invited to play at Carl Cox's 'One Night Stand' parties based in Ibiza. Whilst Michael's sought-after tracks have gained support from the likes of Apollonia, Enzo Siragusa, and Jorge Savoretti to name a few, this is a super special remix and a dance floor essential for DJs to load their arsenals with.

Fresh off Archie Hamilton's Moss Co. is a previous ABS recruit, Stephan Bazbaz. Having attended the S.A.E Institute in Byron Bay, Australia, he then moved on to curate sounds and frequencies that would soon reshape house music, both internationally and in his home town of Tel Aviv, where he has been running his vinyl only label (No Waves Rec), established in 2016. Elbee Bad, LB Bad, The prince of dance music, has been making music from the early days of 1988, this Brooklyn raised artist had recorded on Nu Groove, and his legendery Laharon label to name a few, with a style of his own, this release carries on in the tradition.

Argentina's Jorge Ciccioli follows up from his initial offering on Silencio's Uno compilation in 2017 with his own four-track EP titled Falling Spores.
As the title track suggests, Jorge Ciccioli's production on 'Falling Spores' naturally mimics the intrinsically rhythmic patterns of falling spores being dispersed by purposeful currents of air. With intense intervals of driving drums and sound particles that seemingly twinkle throughout, this track rains down upon one's sub-conscious surface in its relentless pursuitof party.
'Persistence' pays off with track number two in the form of a fully mechanized melody that feels funky and sounds super serious. It starts of simple -but before you have a chance to get a good grip the true artistry of this piece starts accelerating with a breakneck beat that has a need for speed. Accented by temperamental tones that delicately dip in and drop out with premeditated precision, this groove will keep things moving.
On the first B-side track 'Rising', war drums beat out rhythms of an impending attack,effectively whipping all citizenry of the dance floor into a high-pitched fervor. It also summons an accompaniment of hollow, echoey layers that hover closely over slightly suffocated samples and whispering whistles. This track is a great way to begin the end of an evening.
Closing things out is 'Phyla' This track can best be described as one of those things that goes bump in the night -because it bumps hard. Every sound causally connects with the changes that periodically rise and fall during its progression. Parallel drums dive deep and return in rhythm with filtered wave effects that wash over the entire arrangement. The synchronicity of this selection is quite staggering. Definitely worth a listen.

2015 will see German techno mainstay Stephan Bodzin ready to unleash his next full-length musical vision on the world. Entitled 'Powers of Ten', the 10-track album will land in June 2015 on his own Herzblut Recordings and provides another great insight into the melodically rich muscle mind of this modern great.

Says Stephan Bodzin of the LP: 'Powers of Ten has been with me all my life and is named after a book that has been my background hiss, its confusing truth is my only real faith and its infinity shows me its finiteness. The album is about harmonies, melodies, rhythms. It is an homage to Bob Moog, full of techno beats and sounds and space and party and ecstasy and dancing and listening, and crying and feeling. It is a journey, a philosophy of life, a view of the world, a vague perception. It is my wife, my children, my family, my friends, my passion, my enemy, my greatest fulfillment, my fear, my deepest peace, my power, all my love.'

As such, this album is hugely personal and is filled with cerebral messages and well thought out concepts. All this shines through and makes it an all the more engaging listen from start to finish. Kicking off with the spine tingling chords and louche beats of 'Singularity' cuts like 'Lila' then continue to confirm that Stephan Bodzin has a classical understanding of melody that is way beyond your average.

'Blue Giant', 'Wir' and 'Ix' all manage to be uplifting and thoughtful at the same time as driven and groovy, whilst 'Birth' comes on with a hymnal high note, long tailed pads and subtly shifting beats. The ghostly grooves of 'Zulu' mark a majestic mid point to the album, which then continues to seduce with spiritual synths and more beautiful melodies on cuts like 'Odyssee' as well as the album's standout title track.

Unfolding coherently and in soothing fashion, this album once again proves that few producers in the modern world have a knack for melody and an ear for sonic ingenuity quite like Stephan Bodzin.

A common thread weaves through Kasra's thoughtful Akasa EP, each track adding an extra element to the journey. The EP opens up with the collaboration with Motor City group Dopplereffekt. Atropa Belladonna is a beatless beauty that flows effortlessly into the breakbeat rhythm of Bloom. Akasa follows with its dreamy synths. On the flipside Otaku delves delicately into IDM territory and Inferno finishes off the EP with its techno leanings, glitchy bleeps and blips that spill into lilting synths. Servito and Cudmore provide their own take on Bloom, stripping it back and creating an intergalactic track with a deeper bassline.
Iranian-born London-based producer Kasra V has been steadily rising through the ranks. After more than a decade of deep, expansive productions on labels such as Detroit Underground and CPU, Annie Hall arrives on MUSAR for a record typically rich in texture and understated grooves.

Opening track 'Linium' immediately seduces listeners with a complex drum pattern that somehow feels spacious, subtly twisting and turning its way around Hall's analogue world. Dutch artist Mattheis maintains this understated feel but adds a soft, compelling kick in response on his suspenseful remix of 'Lavandula'. The original, moodier version of this cut the follows to open the B side, gradually erupting around a killer distorted bassline. The EP continues to hit a more urgent note with the tense machinations of 'Silene', where dense layers of stuttering, frenetic drums interweave with Hall's trademark, melancholy keys. The record concludes on a weightless, transcendent note with 'Santolina', taking each visceral element featured thus far and slowing each down, with affecting results.

A new EP from Amsterdam based producer Daniel Jacques, titled Last Jaar, will follow up the exclusive EP from mysterious Japanese producer Shinichi Atobe from 2016.Last Jaar will be released in July on Jacques' own Jadac Recordings record label and on this EP, he is bridging the gap between house, techno and R&B music. The record starts off with a hard hitting techno track Sotto Voce where Jacques manipulated trumpet sounds, a female choir and bells instruments. She in Dublin (dedicated to his girlfriend when she went away to Dublin) can be categorised as a classic house track but with a Jacques twist. On the B-side, Learn Me is conceived by accident due to Jacques unorthodox way of producing music and editing samples. The eerie vocal sounds mesh perfectly with the minimal up-tempo beat.
Jacques is slowly moving away from his past music he is known for and is pushing himself more to a whole different side of electronic music. He's not afraid of taking risks as you can hear on the final track of the record: Outsider. The 98 bpm down tempo song sounds like his 'When U Are' song on his Discovery Change Part 4 EP from 2016. However, the record doesn't stop here: an important announcement of the artist can be found on the runout groove of the record.

Repress Of The Mega Techno Classic

A selection of three acid-tinged cuts here, from Mantra, who has previously released on labels such as Bunker, Abstract Acid and Solar One Music. The EP's title track, Exhale, is a flowing, hypnotic number with tripped out reverb washes and a mesmerising lead line that rises and falls for the duration of the track, putting the listener in a meditative state. Transmutation is more focused on the dancefloor, although at the same time more off-kilter, with shamanistic percussive rattles and and uneasy 303 line sitting over a pulsing bassline. Black Light is the toughest of these three cuts, with a creaking acid line combined with heavier percussion that gives a nod to the city that spawned the genre, and the originators of the sound.

The video installation Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore (1999) is one of the best known and loved works by Turner Prize-winning artist and Northern English emigre, Mark Leckey. It's a hugely influential piece, and the soundtrack itself has been sampled endlessly, most notably by Jamie XX on All Under One Roof Raving'. It was the first release on The Death of Rave label back in 2012 and has recently started fetching crazy money on discogs etc, so a new pressing was in order.
A phantasmic and transcendent collage of meticulously sourced and rearranged footage and sound samples spanning three decades of British subculture - from Northern Soul thru '80s Casuals and pre-CJB Rave - it may be considered an uncanny premonition of the Hauntological zeitgeist which has manifested in virulent sections of UK electronic dance and pop culture since the early '00s.
This record severs the sonic aspect from the moving image, offering a new perspective on what rave culture maven and esteemed author Simon Reynolds calls a remarkable piece of sound art in its own right.' Detached from its visual indicators, Leckey's amorphous, acephalic cues are reframed as an ethereal, Burroughsian mesh of VHS idents, terrace chants, fragmented field recordings and atrophied samples cut with his own half-heard drunken mumbles.
At once recalling and predating the eldritch esthetics of Burial or The Caretaker, it's an elegiac lament for an almost forgotten spirit, an abstracted obituary to the rituals, passions and utopian ideals of pre-internet, working class nightlife fantasias, now freeze-framed forever, suspended in vinyl.

Beneath the still waters of Lonely Sound there lays the ruins of Howland Abbey, its 3000lb bell still hanging in the belfry, only swayed by the currents of the regular tides across the estuary, over 100 years since it was rang by the order of Carthusian monks who lived in the nearby priory. At the turn of the last century during a heavy storm the Abbey was plundered by an unknown gang of marauders, as they left on horseback carrying with them all the gold from the Abbey the sea defences around Lonely Sound were breached, flooding the Abbey, Priory and the surrounding land, the Monks ran for dry land as they watched their beloved bell tower disappear beneath the rising waters, unable to chase the thieves, cut off as the water rose around them. Some locals say these ransackers were in league with the elements, some say they had just intentionally damaged the sea defences before making their raid. Local folk-law claims that the morning bells of the Abbey can be heard ring out from beneath the murky waters of the Sound every year on the anniversary of the great storm, ringing the peel that was never rung.

The water surely is greener on the other side. Susan's 5th release marks perhaps the biggest step towards the so-called life of Susan. Gregor Tresher kicks off 2015 looking to break new soil with his first ever full release for John Digweed's Bedrock Records. Last year was as hectic as ever for the Gregor and he came into it on high from the success of his artist album Nightcolours and having closed out 2013 by releasing an astonishing Laurent Garnier remix of the title track, on his own imprint. Time to relax a little maybe Not a chance. January saw the remixed version of the album hit the stores and this was backed within a few weeks by 'Taurus', Gregor's enticing collaboration with Petar Dundov. The summer saw him remix the Chymera classic 'Shadowdancer' and he closed 2014 with the superb 'Midas / Disturber' double-header. Somewhat of a musical chameleon, Tresher is as at home creating deeper shades of house for the likes of Moon Harbour and Ovum as he is techno rhythms for Music Man, Cocoon and Systematic. With label boss Digweed a huge fan, Bedrock is yet another perfect fit for the German and he opens his account with the mighty, melodic and Kraken'esque 'Goliath' and the razor-sharp lightning bolt that is 'Stormblade'.

KLOREX 55 has moved his base to Hawaiian latitudes where he hangs out with the king himself. They have been seen in a brand new Cadillac each other day crusin' around. These songs where made in-between filling up gasoline. Pure electro car love songs.

Lectromagnetique is back with renewed forces and his well recognizable electro-acid sound forms. Sonic waves of 'Artificial Sources' will take you to ionized radiation areas of Chernobyl where radiation dosimeters and heat strain monitors will be hobbling by unknown reason. 4 punchy electro and 4 mellow techno tracks. While the 2 records are stylistically different from each other, they are clearly connected by an underlying theme that showcases some different shades of this very talented artist.

"Moving on from the house tinged vibes of LTDX1, side A of the follow up sees Bluetrain (aka label boss Steve O'Sullivan) slip into full Steppa mode for some serious skankin' in the shape of "Armchair Analyst". Set to a classic one-note riff, he fires the machines into action with neatly swung riddims, low toms and a tight kick to hold the groove - making the most of the interplay between reverb and splashes of delay, he fills the spaces and levels in between with precision. Subtle yet groovy, it bears all the hallmarks worthy of soundbwoy status that'll bring some much needed bounce to the dance floor.

By contrast, Side B welcomes a full portion of head nod from Dutch(ie) dub master Roger Gerressen. "Long Overdue" places a firm emphasis on a finely tuned metronomic snare as snappy hats swirl their way around. With off-beat kicks pulsing down low just as much they roll, he makes the most of the bare essentials, injecting a widescreen feel to the composition. A filtered guitar riff and splashes of vocals criss-cross their way across the stereo field, which will appeal as much to techno heads as it will to fans of HEAVY bass."

'Space Dub' is an orbiting station of decaying delays and insistent bleeps that resolve into an absolutely massive riddim that causes pure murderation on the floor. This is the first album Oscar Mulero has released under his own name, after two acclaimed LPs under the moniker Trolley Route. Well known for his skills as a hard-edged, raw and floor-orientated techno dj, his productions go far beyond, digging deep into the intricate landscape of intelligent techno, floating moods, reminiscent atmospheres, harmony and detail.

Grey Fades To Green is the affirmation of his maturity as a producer, using both hardware and software in the pursuit of a highly coherent and diverse album.

The concept is split into two parts: The Grey and The Green, each one with its own character. The first part is rougher and meant for the dance floor, although pays full attention to detail and complexity. The second part is quieter, has a slower pace and is best enjoyed at home.

In The Green Oscar goes deep into the intellectual side of techno music and is heavily influenced by the post rave sound emerging from the UK in the nineties: Aphex Twin, Gescom, B12, Plaid, Autechre.. but with a contemporary approach.

Photonz is the alias of Marco Rodrigues a DJ, producer and driving force of Lisbon's underground scene. For little over a decade now, he's been crafting his own deeply personal style of Portuguese house and techno for labels such as Créme Organization, 20:20 Vision, Don't Be Afraid, Skylax, Unknown To The Unknown and his own One Eyed Jacks. As a DJ, Photonz grew a reputation for deep crates and intensely euphoric sets and in 2017, together with Violet (co-founder at his Radio Quantica) and Lisbon's own Rabbit Hole collective, he started the now infamous Mina parties - a monthly, sex-positive, queer and intersectional-feminist techno party aimed at using the dissociative potential of intense raving to create a temporary space of suspension away from patriarchal expectations.

Etheric Body Music is Photonz's debut 6-track EP for Dark Entries and a simultaneous reference to hermeticism and EBM (Electronic Body Music). Marco loves that 'aesthetic when 80s industrial and EBM bands split up and start to make trance in the early 90s and all the ritual magick pushes them to zen stuff and they do ecstasy.' There's this concept in theosophy and hermetic philosophy of the Etheric Body, which is an energy body superimposed and connected to the physical body, similar to the acupuncture idea of an energetic body. That idea manifests itself as six primal club cuts, which also channel early techno, Drexciyan rhythms, balearic & old school jack. Raw arpeggiated synth lines and bass blast jut against metallic stabs and highly percussive shakedowns to create mournful atmospheric warped house. All songs have been mastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in a psychedelic jacket with snakey green and purple velvet in an electric acid spewing weird biological alien energy form designed by Eloise Leigh.

After a flury of Wilson Limited Releases, Wilson Records Honcho, Fabio Monesi storms back on his beloved project with 'Say Wot!' EP! Even though his name's been on plenty of lips since the drop of his debut EP, 'Ys', released back in 2014, each new record from Gardens Of God comes as a fresh and vibrant kiss of life to whichever label gets him to grace its grooves. Back on Ellum Black to kick off the new year after three outings in the imprint's main series, the Lithuanian producer unleashes one of his home-cooked assortments of stripped-down, yet salient, warehouse-sized brain melters.

Starting with the title-track 'Ken', which - sure to have the fierce winds of dementia blowing on all dance-floors it comes across - lays down a balanced mix of textural roundness and train-like dynamism with an ever trenchant, gut-punching churn. Minimal in essence but forged in the strongest of alloys, GoG's compositions keep rolling and pitching like carbon-made nutshells in a tempest of raging elements. Same goes with the tribal dub of 'Spirits', which trades most of the opener's spheric bounce for a harsher, steelier kind of rhythmic shuffle, whilst lifting its listener to a further entrancing state of mind.

Rushing headlong into euphoric 4/4 terrains, the steady rolling highlight 'Bell You' nails it on an even more addictive note with its delicate wind chimes cutting a path of illumination across intricate games of delayed drums and hypnotic, knee-buckling bass moves from down the greater depths. 'Ken EP' encapsulates most of what makes Garden of God's singular appeal: a subtly-inlaid hybrid of trancey buildups, electronica-infused melodicism and an out-there, big-room-dedicated pound that's no other aim but to morph a disparate crowd into one giant, malleable mass of pleasure and ecstasy. KLEFT aka Vickie McDonald is rooted in and has actively propagated the underground DIY radical queer punk and feminist movement here in Glasgow. Their projects have included the skull crushing sludge doom of Cartilage, the unflinching and infamous multi- membered hard core stars that were DIVORCE and the sacrificial, druid drone glitch of MOURN. Alongside these projects they have uncompromisingly disrupted, motivated and facilitated collective endeavors to take down the capital power structure of the dominant system of patriarchal club venues and abhorrent fuckers in this town.

For this record 'H+ Sexualis', KLEFT explores the neo-modern space where flesh is left behind. Negotiating, analyzing and tearing to shreds the relationship and balance between flesh and technology. KLEFT's expansive and palpable sonic offerings delve into themes of transhumanism and body hacking and seep into our collective skin begging the question; can flesh ever be created digitally. Does a lack of physicality alienate human experience in a post transhumanism society Are we all destined to be skinless yet digitally connected Will the body become superfluous Toward "the utopian dream of the hope for a monstrous world without gender," as stated on Donna Haraway's essay ''A Cyborg Manifesto.'

From the opening track 'Ossein' the listener grasps a foreboding lethargic build up, lurking out of the spatial ritualistic shadows into a sea of suffocating nothingness. A void where there is no gravity. Skeletal and brittle shattering rhythms which echo DMZ / Skull Disco dubstep alongside the more frozen, glacial ominous explorations of grime are often felt proving KLEFT is an artist whose inspirations run deep and wide and generally exist in the darkest recesses of our subconscious. These fearful, disjointed rhythms are set against weightless atmospheric oscillated synths, as if roaming through bleakly opaque, claustrophobic narrow corridors on a first person survival horror video game such as Resident Evil.

Moving through to 'CMBR', KLEFT's dissonant, degrading soundscape ferociously ascends. The resilient kick drum is propulsive and pulverizing akin to 'ardcore tekno - or intense gabba if you have the guts to adjust the tempo up to +8 - aesthetics that overwhelm and agitate finally revealing it's grotesque biological / amorphous bio structure. Elevating the repetitive 4/4 kick to a destructive, distorted banger of a track as layers of converging atonal noise and sound design simultaneously further enhances the sense of imminent radioactive contamination.

Next is 'Writhe, Squirm, Broken' continuing the convulsive, nauseating permutations of the prior track but reconfigured like a mangled, gruesome Cronenberg-esque parasite that has infiltrated an open wound, excruciatingly feeding off of the inner anatomy of it's hosts body from within. Repulsively reformulating the shape and dimension. The intro is akin to a panic stricken bouncy ball contracting and expanding, the spring reverb building momentum and traveling further away in distance and speed.

'Hackfleisch Deluxe' is a muuurrderous stomper and is one of the more grime / bass orientated tracks that deconstructs and disrupts the tempo familiar to sub-low producers on Black Ops / Jon E Cash / DJ Dread D. The crawling, plummeting frequency of the synth is a nauseating rush of coagulating blood to the heed; a deep throbbing sensory depravation in sharp, paradoxical contrast with the driving harmony layered on top which proves to be infectiously addictive. Furthermore are splintering programmed vocal samples that gives a sense of artificial disorientation, mind over matter, a possible hint at our evolving sentient cognition within a nightmarish simulated, augmented reality

Second to last we have 'Keratin' which is filled with the near fatal dissolving thud of Djax-Up acid that gives the impression that you're a biologist peering through a microscope into a petrie dish and witnessing the rapid and furious genetic cellular replication of bacterial and viral organisms.

Culminating in 'Bruised and Bleeding Hands' where the squashed density of a deflated and depressurized helium filled balloon and elastic umbilical cords, barbed wire and copper wires grind n' coil around the lens of a zooming camera. Taking no prisoners, this is a punishing grime weapon. A phat, surgical kick drum bulldozes its way thru causing carnage, syncopated punching snares after every rave stab and dizzying third beat. It won't be long until ye hear this on Silver Drizzle's youtube channel in the near future.

This record transports us to the hyperkinetic mutation scene on the cult cyberpunk film Tetsuo The Iron Man where the organic flesh / mechanical rust of the Iron Man metamorphoses with the Metal Fetishist during the rebirth sequence and we say 'LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH!''.

Powell loosens up and reaches out on the 2nd New Beta playground for Diagonal, budging bones
and buns in seven hot-stepping, curiously emotive permutations that swerve from Æ-style
abstraction to pointillist electro-acid and a brace of mutant diskotheek breakers. As with the first
volume, he's clearly still gassed off his new hardware, resulting a nerve-jumping fizz and crack
that sounds like he's jamming with fingers directly in the jack ports.
Like some cyborg antagonist who can't stand to see humans plodding four square do-si-do in the
dance, Powell fractures and gels the groove in wickedly freakish exercises, increasingly finding
himself attracted to near beat-less structures to give his dancers and listeners more jelly limbed
options for kinaesthetic interpretation and f**king weird feels.
On PosTAe he prangs out in sincere tribute to arch 'borgs Autechre with a hot mess of haywire
modular plongs, before Sneak 2_05 catches him cutting back to the ascetic funk of his earliest 12's,
this time sharper, serpentine, before Rudeboy, Let's Funk catapults us into something like a scrap
between Trevor Jackson and Luke Vibert, all clipped drum clatter and acid zig-zags itching for the
sweat, farts and perfume of the 'floor.
Slippy Pig jabs the B-side into play with some of the EP's nattiest, stepping impulses drawing a
line from The Normal thru Ed Rush's Wormhole via The Bocaccio, then Drumz VIP darts like some
deviant jazz-funk oddity from West London, with its dissonant flourishes making way for the
febrile blatz of Hoi!! and the EP's surprise standout in the richly colourful and dynamic phrasing of
Strobe, perhaps the smartest/goofiest iteration of Powell's new sound in circulation.

Boy's Own don Terry Farley teams up with Kevin Swain of D.O.P. for a peak-time acid anthem "Memory Child". Label boss Posthuman strips it back for a Sheffield Bleep Techno vibe remix, while Kirk Degiorgio rebuilds the track with modular acid and epic piano chords into a blissful, sunshine anthem. Terry and Kevin bring it all back with the more chilled "Acid Tool" mix to complete the EP.

Now, Spectral brings the past alongside the present with its latest release, a compilation that offers a vibrant cross-section of the current moment in underground dance music. Despite the wide-ranging selections on Spectral 139, a throughline of classic style and infectious energy emerges from the up-and-coming and established artists alike. Rising talents such as Minimal Violence, Russell E.L. Butler, and Earth Trax x Newborn Jr. bring unique perspectives to their hardware-centric productions. Veteran producers bring their own edge as well: D'Marc Cantu blows the roof off with the outsized funk of "Regularly People," and Nigil Caenaan's "January's End," a low-key Detroit classic from the late '90s, closes Spectral 139 with a whirlwind of manic rhythms and sedate synths. Gunnar Haslam opens the tracklist with his acidic mindbender, "Versione Antica." The latest episode on Piezo's no nonsense, hand stamped and heart warmed Ansia label has arrived! ANSIA003 is the follow up to his early 2018 'Parrots EP' and for this release the Milanese producer has enlisted 3 other disparate yet like minded artists to let loose on this monster 4 tracker. StabUdown Productions (James Donadio aka Prostitutes) kicks it off with the opener 'FyeRRR!' A deadly burst of blown out ragga replete with an arsenal of kicks and vocal cut up shrapnel. Next up label head Piezo drops 'OiOiOi', a masterwork of electro gated basslines, jungle breaks and absurd delay feedbacks. A perfect continuation of the surrealistic/abstract path started by tunes like 'All My Money' on 'Parrots EP'. Fresh off his Lobster Theremin's album, Kreggo/G-23 (Super Rhythm Trax, Secret Rave, Art-Aud) delivers 'Ligeti': a flat out mover with it's skittering percussion and deep haunted stabs hovering around the supernatural subs. It all finishes up with Bristol's Facta, whose releases on Idle Hands, Livity Sound and his own excellent Wisdom Teeth really needs little introduction. 'Not Now' is an elastic, low gravity heavy hitter that snakes through bass bins and before you know it, you're completely wrapped.

"Pleasure-Voltage" was born in the mind (and studio) of BENJAMIN FINGER - a composer, electronic music producer, DJ, photographer and film-maker based in Oslo / Norway who in recent years has become quite a prolific artist, expanding his stylistic palette from piano miniatures and off-kilter pop experiments to lysergic, dream-like sound collages spiced with gentle warmth and sublime melody. These ingredients are also characteristic on this latest work where FINGER set the musical frame before passing it on to his inspired collaborators: MIA ZABELKA who for decades now has been involved in countless projects, be it as musician (violin / electronics), curator or founder of the international sound art centre klang.haus and who has worked with a.o. JOHN ZORN, FRED FRITH, ELECTRIC INDIGO, ROBIN RIMBAUD (SCANNER), DÄLEK or PHIL MINTON. And last but not least there's JAMES PLOTKIN who entered the scene with his first band OLD LADY DRIVERS (or OLD) on EARACHE in 1987 and later was a member of KHANATE (with a.o. STEPHEN O'MALLEY) while also exploring the areas of dark ambient and electronics by working with or remixing SCORN / MICK HARRIS, K.K: NULL and many more.

BXL002 is the second release of the artist-run Brussels based label BXL. This second release by Simon Halsberghe features the dark discoïd BLACK TAPE MASS on the a-side. While the title refers to the tape delay echo's used in the production, it's the groove pushed forward by the pulsing bass line and the clap that give it that distinct 'Dark Disco' vibe.
On the b-side MACHINE WAILING sounds like an incessant siren. The rest of the elements in the track all push and pull around this hypnotic siren, giving it context and power. The last track, GREY OVER WHITE takes the hypnosis deeper with a deep fizzy bass line, resonant drone and crisp hihats. SJ Tequilla continues to build on his small but well formed discography with a new EP on Bright Sounds. His three originals come backed with a remix from cult producer SW. SJ Tequilla has released on his own Shot Of T imprint and DJ Fett Burger s Freakout Cult since debuting in 2017. The Japanese born, Berlin based artist is also close to Sex Tags Mania and regularly holds it down at OHM Club as well as for busking on his live, vintage hardware jams around the streets of Kreuzberg.
The opener is a six minute house bumper with a classic lead acid line and plenty of Detroit pads. The pinging analogue drums are lively and elastic while more thoughtful keys are draped over the top. SUED man SW. steps up to remix and brings a mixture of pad laced serenity old school rave basslines to his hard hitting drums. The B1 is another rugged mix of live sounding drums, acid snuggles and rueful keys while ambient synths stretch off to infinity. Last but not least, B2 sinks into a blissed out dub house vibe, rolling deep and smooth and showing off Tequilla s ability to cook up far sighted synths that have real emotion. This is an EP well school in traditionalism but that also brings some fresh skills and ideas to the grooves.

After an excellent 12inch on Rosten label SSTROM drops his first full length Otider, which is by far the most diverse offering of the project encompassing elements of different genres and putting them in woolen and dense sonic textures. Otider could be loosely translated as un-times or non-times. It positions the tracks out of specific context and rather represents them as some rediscovered artifacts relating to personal experiences of the artist. Otider slightly distances SSTROM from techno label as the compositions elegantly drift between lush transparency and thick grooves of outsider/lo-fi house as in Kronofobi or Svvaren or sensitive, yet subtly monolith and mellow techno on Damm and I Huvudet. In Modernisten we can even trace echoes of coldwave/synth aesthetics with melancholic guitars sweeping over hypnotic rhythmic patterns, while closer Sov Nu introduces something which reminds a darker form of garage music with light synthpads constantly surfacing among raw mechanical beats. All the tracks were created over a relatively long period between 2010 and 2017 by employing the process where he let his hands work automatically without interference from his head. This freedom could be felt across the release, which juggles with different musical forms so lightly and organically, but at the same time maintains a coherent vision, which illustrates the vast scope and diversity of the artist.

Samo Records is very pleased to introduce the debut EP from Russian Chandeliers, a new project by Julian Grefe (Pink Skull) and Fringe Society (formerly known as Quell). Berliners by way of Philly and Athens (Greece), respectively, the studiomates have perfectly fused the best bits of their signature styles to create a record that's equally suited for headphones and dancefloors.

"Worm In Worm Out" (A1) kicks things off with a chunky, chuggy rhythm that indeed worms its way into your brain, sprinkling vaguely psychedelic echoes throughout.

"Stay In Seattle" (A2) is a slow-burning charmer that layers bleeps and sizzles over a dark and mesmerizing bassline.

Zombies in Miami put a slightly spooky, frantic spin on "Stay In Seattle" for their mix (B1), turning the moody paranoia into a deliciously foreboding frenzy.

MR TC's take on "Worm In Worm Out" (B2) ups the psychedelia, tones down the bass, and gently hypnotizes you into the best kind of euphoric haze.
