Dj Deeon - Doez Dance Mania Sampler 2
DM306
Dance Mania
12inch16.10.201716.OCT.17

HouseDeepAcid

By now, Chicago's home of the ghetto house movement, Dance Mania, should need no introduction!
If you didn't already know, they are the original purveyors of that hard-ass, stripped back, tough, hitting electronic funk, they've never held back with their output. Operating since the late 80's the label has gained legions of fans over 2 decades as well as a certain notoriety and one of their most well-known artists has got to be the legendary DJ Deeon and his various production pseudonyms! This, the second in a series of samplers focusses on some of his unreleased cuts, rarities and classics from the DM catalogue. Kicking things off with the demented over-sexed jacking off of 'Da Dik Suk' this EP shows you what's up from the jump. Lifted off 1996's 'Freak Like Me' EP this is vintage Deeon to the core! This is followed up with the minimal, acidic runnings of '1112', from Deeon's 1996 'Chop Shop' release, a wigged out, simplistic groove that just won't stop. Classic Chicago weirdness that simply just slams. The frenetic 'Phenomenon' opens up side B, produced under his Mute pseudonym and originally released in 1997 this is a sure-fire rarity from the DM vaults. A tough one to track down and a real essential under the radar cut. Also featured is the wild acid of Playground Productionz' 'The Box', here in unreleased (!) rare remixed form by another Chi-town legend - Paul Johnson. Top shelf business. Last but certainly not least is another Playground jammer in the form of the killer 'Vertigo' lifted off the same EP from 1994 which is surely enough to whet even the toughest of appetites. File under 'JACKIN'. Every track on here has been remastered and repressed with the full consent and involvement of DJ Deeon and Parris Mitchell, selected and programmed from Deeon's private archives and DAT tapes for Above Board, London. 100% hater free.

Jammin' The House Gerald - Factory Style
DM063 2016
Dance Mania

HouseDeepChicagoTech

Classic Dance Mania sound right here! Jammin' Gerald nailing that original 1994 Chi-town ghetto style, if you know then you know! Unapologetic, raw, jackin' booty trax for the clubs. It's all here. From the breakbeat driven, B-more club influencing "Get The Ho '94" to the insanely stripped back and crazy "sensuous black woman" riffing "Black Women (Club)" this EP has it. An essential addition to any collection if you like your club music direct and to the point, Dance Mania is a label that should need no introduction by now, but if you're new to the game this is a good place to dive in! 100% Legitimately remastered from DAT, including a new bonus track "Believe", and reissued with the permission and assistance of Dance Mania records and Mr. Parris Mitchell, Chicago USA.

2nd Sequel - Vibrations 2x12"
MOVIBLP001
MOVING VIBRATIONS
excl16.05.201316.MAY.13

HouseDeep

Moving Vibrations is the newest label to orbit the Planet Gong universe, already home to 100% Pure, Intacto Records, Remote Area and Area Remote.

The Amsterdam based record label is founded in 2012 by Shirley Asafo-Adjaye and Dylan Hermelijn (also known as 2000 and One). The label has its musical focus on timeless dub and deep house, taking a journey across ambient and more experimental influenced electronica. Moving Vibrations holds exclusivity in highest regard, with a focus on special artwork by Amsterdam based illustrator and fashion designer Shannon Martin and package design by Sandy Huner. The roster carries mainly new and upcoming talented artists from all over the world.

Moving Vibrations proudly presents its very first album release and debut album of 2nd Sequel.

In the heart of Verona's cobbled streets in Italy, close to Romeo and Juliet's balcony you'll find the studio of a very talented, young, 'new generation' producer; Alessandro Coletta aka 2ND Sequel. Highly inspired by his greatest love - music, he's been tucked away into the depths of night crafting his album - 'Vibrations', presenting ten deep, delicate and luscious melodious tracks.

A labour of musical love best described by Shakespeare's romantic opening line 'If music be the food of love, play on' as this album will nourish any soul hungry for musical inspiration. From the alluring groove tuned up with crumbs of vocalized sensitivity of 'Chillin' With Friends' - to the down tempo tranquility of 'Twenty Nine', or the everlasting brilliance of the harmonious lead single 'Vibrations' - each creating an intense and mysterious vibe that feeds the moment with movement.

2ND Sequel is a rising star that first burst into the producing scene back in 2010 at the tender age of seventeen. Sparkling with talent, his high quality and versatile productions radiate across Deep-House, new school Electronica and old school influences of Pop and Garage creating a stellar sound that's fresh and uniquely original. Any star gazers will see that 2ND Sequel is definitely 'one to watch' and, despite his young age, has a well-eductated musical ear. Which is why after releasing his first vinyl only EP 'Tribute To The Little Things' on Moving Vibrations, it's time to bring more of his musical imagination to light with this debut album 'Vibrations'.

Animal Trainer - The Walk
SVT123
Stil vor Talent
12inch18.02.201418.FEB.14

HouseDeepTech

Both children of the illustrious nightlife of trend capital Zurich, Adrian Flavor and Samy Jackson - better know as Animal Trainer - made a name for themselves with their Rakete parties, held mostly at their home base, the chic Hive club. As dedicated music lovers and passionate entertainers, it was a natural progression for the duo to channel their constant appetite for music and endless parties into their own sounds. Thus, their first baby steps were released on Stil vor Talent in the form of 'Talkshow' in 2008. Today, in February 2014, after numerous releases on renowned labels such as Katermukke, Dantze, Off Recordings or their own Hive Audio, the joyous duo is presenting the debut album 'Wide' on SVT. Here, on the first of two EPs, two of the album's highlights are featured alongside high calibre remixes by Oliver Koletzki, Oliver Schories and Zombie Disco Squad. Animal Trainer show a completely new side to their productions on the excellent electronica track 'The Walk', on which dub chords pulsate through a broken beat structure and creaking synths. The fragile piano does, however, steal the show here. While Oliver Koletzki decides to significantly up the tempo on his epic, trance-inspired rework, Oliver Schories opts for a contemporary deep house interpretation built around a low-slung bass-line and emotive chords. 'Shane' is a classicistic house homage, alluring the listener with its springy step and feel-good vocal sample - key features that Zombie Disco Squad emphasise on their sprightly rude-boy remix.

Dam Swindle - Flavourism Ep
HEIST031
Heist Recordings
12inch23.04.201823.APR.18

HouseDeepVocalDiscoNu Disco

2018 marks our first step into album territory, releasing the sophomore album 'High life' of Heist's very own Detroit Swindle, to be released end of May. This single features the album cut 'Flavourism' with vocals from Seven Davis Jr. Here, the single is presented with remixes by the amazing Pépé Bradock and Boston-to-NYC house duo John Barera & Will Martin.
Flavourism is as much a throwback track to classic Detroit Swindle territory, as it is a look into their contemporary view on soulful deep house. The vibe is set by Seven Davis Jr.'s distinctive vocals, accompanied by warm 'side-chained' pads and a rubbery live synth-bassline. Fans of 'The Wrap Around' will definitely feel a nod to that 2012 classic with those Prophet pads. If you've seen their live performance with Seven Davis Jr. during Dour festival in 2015 or heard their remix for SDJ's track 'Friends' on Classic Music Company, you might already anticipate a collaboration that works like a charm.
When deciding on a remixer for this project, the boys wanted to do something special. Ask someone special. And so it happened that they asked Pépé Bradock: someone who stood at the root of European house music and has pioneered in the genre, carefully curating his own style into something that surpasses genres. Here, he delivers both a stunning and deep interpretation of the original, with added harmonies, a touch of lo-fi and his own signature electronics. On top comes the 'acapella', stripped from all percussion and leaving the vocal and all of Pépé's lovely weirdness.
The single further features US house duo John Barera & Will Martin, who have already released some amazing music on Dolly, or John's own ' Supply records'. Not surprisingly, they deliver a great clubby house cut with some Chicago flavour, dubbing and out the vocal to a basic mantra: 'I'll always keep'.
Keep an eye out for High Life out soon with more collaborations. For now, please enjoy Flavourism.
Best Regards,
Heist Recordings.

No Smoke - International Smoke Signals
WAFLP3
Warriors Dance
2x12inch28.11.201828.NOV.18

HouseDeepElectroHip-HopAfrobeat

Presenting the long sought after, groundbreaking and classic 1990 UK long-player finally remastered and reissued for 2018. London's Warriors Dance label was a unique operation and a pioneering London label during the late 80's acid house phenomena. Home to an assortment of DJs, MCs and soundmen, they went on to make their own original and indelible mark on the rave scene from the infamous 'Addis Ababa' studio on Harrow Road on the North-West side of the city.

A former reggae and soul studio that was instrumental to the output of influential artists like Soul II Soul and more, a steady diet of reggae, bass, hip-hop, house and techno kept their edgy, and die hard UK sound and style right at the cutting edge of the dance music underground across the globe with the top DJs and producers of the day celebrating the label.

The studio, helmed by label owner Tony 'Addis', acted as an incubator for artists whose names would go down in the history books - No Smoke, Bang The Party, The Addis Posse, Melancholy Man, Hollywood Beyond, The Housemaids and more all featured heavily on the label and contributed to its legendary output. The attitude and approach to the music was utterly and unapologetically a London thing, with heavy African and Caribbean influences also drawing on the sounds emanating from Chicago, Detroit and further afield.

Years later, and with the advent of the internet, Discogs, Youtube and any other digital platform you'd care to mention, Warriors Dance continues to be discovered and rediscovered again by curious diggers and music heads with a thirst for heavyweight tracks to play in their DJ sets. This saw the WD mythology rise again, making their records much sought after by fans from all over the world.

When 'International Smoke Signal' landed in 1990 there was nothing else quite like it in the musical landscape, the perfect sonic example of the Warriors Dance ethos and style incorporating all of the influences and grooves that made the label's output so unique, a sound heavily inspired by the preceding period in London and the UK where hip-hop, soul, reggae, rare groove and acid house were played side by side in the warehouses and empty spaces of former industrial areas. Throughout the late 1980's these often drab and dangerous places were transformed by local DJ crews like Soul II Soul and Shake 'N' Fingerpop with more to offer those looking for an open-minded party scene new places to explore, in turn switching people on to broader styles of music.

It's all in here, the heavy breakbeat driven B-boy house flavour of the album version of the classic 'Koro Koro', the Manu Dibango featuring tribal acid groove of 'International Smoke Signal' to the percussive and ultra-deep stylings of 'Oh Yes (Freedom)' the LP encapsulate a time and place yet continue to capture the imagination today.

Timeless music. There's no doubt the No Smoke project is a direct influence on the deeper, tribal house sounds around today and pioneered the afro house sound alongside 'Yeke Yeke', 'Motherland' etc as the acid house phenomenon swept the world. 'Koro Koro' is the omnipresent anthem which was broken at London clubs like Confusion by Bang The Party's Kid Batchelor and RIP which went on to blow up in New York, and was then signed by Profile Records. Hugely sampled and still played to this day.

'International Smoke Signal' fuses the otherworldly science of dub and reggae with Bronx breakbeats, synth laden ambient house excursions and the heartbeat of mother Africa with the technoid thrum of the motor city effortlessly, all while maintaining its London roots and swagger. A true dance music masterpiece. This is the first time the LP has been remastered and reissued, spread across 2 heavy slabs of high quality vinyl for maximum sonic impact. Made in conjunction with the Warriors Dance family and Tony Addis.

Special thanks to Nicky Trax & Tony Addis. - Remastered by Optimum Mastering, Bristol UK. Proudly distributed by Above Board distribution. 2018.

Pablo Cahn - Soul Rain
CADENZA113
Cadenza Records
12inch04.09.201704.SEP.17

HouseDeepTech

Pablo Cahn is a talented producer hailing from and currently residing in Bogota, Colombia. Soul Rain' is his third release on Cadenza, and it comes with a massive remix by the Spanish don Paco Osuna. The original mix of Pablo is a long attractive dance floor tune textured by an overwhelming bass line and a deluge of vocal grains that shapes a large number of fills and break downs all over the track. As the journey go further, a complex twist of harmonies and resonances arise from the rhythmic grounds, shining over a blissful body of beats. Paco Osuna's remix recap all the rhythmic elements and shrink the vocal drizzle maintaining their relevance to the building of the track. The bare inter-twin of its relentless bass line and its stinging hi-hats works out a magnificent outbreak of the dense original tissue of chords.

Pornbugs - Maritza
BOND12040
BONDAGE-MUSIC
12inch05.04.201705.APR.17

HouseDeepMinimalTechVinyl Only

Bondage-Music head honchos Pornbugs prep the labels next release for early April comprising three original tracks and a remix from Mihai Popoviciu. Since 2006, German duo Pornbugs have been pushing their minimal yet ambitious dance floor orientated house music through clubs across the globe, with their label Bondage-Music acting as a catalyst for forward thinking music. Bondage-Music also works as an outlet for other talented producers including Romania's Mihai Popoviciu and inmotion music signee Markus Homm to further develop their sound. Fresh from a string of early 2017 digital releases from Frink and Sous Sol, April sees Bondage-Music's first vinyl offering of the year, kick started with the subtle and melodic cut "When You Are gone", which takes a deep groove and laces it with a plethora of soft synths and atmospherics. Mihai Popoviciu then reworks "When You Are gone" into a different entity, rewiring a headier groove into the track with raw-defined hats, building further tension with tight synth stabs and ethereal pads. "Innocent" then takes tribal tinged percussion to new depths, fuelling it with booming kicks and flourishing chords, further intensified by swirling vocals. A pure dub aesthetic then shines through "Maritza", as saturated drums and a rumbling low end provide the skeleton for swelling synths to meander alongside spiritual vocals, closing out the package.

Arthur Johnson - Perfect Stranger EP
DLM018
LES DISQUES DE LA MORT
12inch19.06.201819.JUN.18

HouseDeepTech

In ancient LDDLM times, BLDDLM even, Belgium could well have been the freaky house and ecstasy center of the world. If only we could remember all the lost hours... But after all, as the Brussel saying goes: 'it's Friday, tomorrow is Tuesday'.
At LDDLM, we try not to reminisce, that was just setting the mood.We are very happy to welcome ARTHUR JOHNSON in our non-fold, a young producer from Liege via Marseille and La Dame Noir. AJ is amongst those ever mutating artists, his u-turns slowly composing a real personality, and one fitting our contrarian attitude. In a way PERFECT STRANGER reminds us of a good 90's Farley/Heller remix, not so much camp Fire Island than almost sweaty late night trancer. We love those tracks that do not fit our ethos a priori but that we can't stop playing. COSMO VITELLI is a long time family friend and he beams up this stranger through the axis into some kind of romantic italo-german anthem.
BALLADA and SECRETARY DISCORDIA show a different side of AJ, a dub march echoing Dif Juz and a percussive machine funk number. We sincerely hope AJ keeps on straying for the best, his way being our way.

Formally Unknown - Off Peak EP (inc. Mella Dee Remix)

HouseDeepTechnoTechno

Following the recent 'Aset Forever EP' by label bosses Dusky, 17 Steps announces its next release in the form of the 'Off Peak EP' by innovative Russian duo Formally Unknown.

The three broken beat originals will be familiar to anyone who has seen label owners' Dusky DJ recently.

Lead track 'Off Peak' offsets a breakdown of deep, Detroit-nodding chords with thunderous bass, modular bleeps and broken percussion that will test the outer limits of any sound system.

On the remix, Warehouse Music's Mella Dee flips the original with 4x4 kicks, spacey pads and layered percussion that glides in and out seamlessly, providing the EP with a hazy, dubbed out techno gem.

Industrial broken beat jam 'Burnin' again blends atmospheric chords with chopped samples to create a carefully crafted leftfield trip that feels like the perfect soundtrack to an industrial How It's Made video.

Closing things off 'Arp Three' brings things to a darker, stripped back close in a panic alarm buzz of broken bass and twisted FX - with distant rave divas crackling through the mix.

KNIGHT ACTION - R-TRAX
LDR077
LET'S DANCE
12inch06.11.201806.NOV.18

HouseDeepDiscoChicagoHip-HopFunk

Two absolutely legendary pieces of early Chicago house music finally reissued for 2018. Mike Macharello and Duane Thamm JR's Knight Action project was responsible for this colossal 1985 landmark release that saw a heady fusion of Euro influenced and Italo Disco sounds meet in the windy city and in turn create history.
Released on Macharello's 'Let's Dance' imprint the 'R-Trax / D-Rail' 12" has long been a holy grail of Chicago house, skeletal drum programming, acidic basslines and manic, strobing claps and toms combine to create a fresh and hedonistic version of the music that Macharello and Thamm JR were playing on the city's infamous WBMX radio station as well as in the clubs and roller rinks. A truly underground flavour, and certainly some of the earliest examples of the House sound that would eventually become synonymous with Chicago, 'R-Trax / D-Rail' both still sound compelling today and continue to wreak havoc on any dance-floor.

Chicago's Still Music are proud to present this fully legit, remastered and repressed piece of Chicago house history. A truly pivotal record now made available again for 2018. Essential sound for those who love the real deal - snoozing not advised, OG copies of this monster are hard to come by!

Defected in the House

HouseDeepTechTechnoTechno

Ahead of Melé stepping up to deliver his coveted In The House compilation, Defected presents a four-track vinyl taster showcasing his standout percussive, tribal sound. From 13-year-old bedroom DJ growing up in the Wirral to his breakout anthem 'Ambience' in 2015, Melé has now fully honed his skills in production and mixing, culminating in two mixes for 'Defected presents Melé In The House' and three brand new productions. All three of these original productions are included in this vinyl sampler along with an exclusive from Joe Corti, demonstrating what's to come from the compilation.

With live percussion from drum warrior Shovell, the cover of 'Pasilda' pumps up the track's unmistakeable rhythms and piano melody (recorded live by prolific record producer Fraser T Smith) with an irresistibly hefty bassline and vocal loops. A long-time highlight of Melé's sets but until now unreleased, 'Pasilda' is an exclusive from the upcoming compilation. 'Tribal Harmonix' is the darker, more melodic and tech-inclined of the three, while the aptly named 'Brooklyn Bounce' is Melé's ode to Danny Tenaglia, a key influence whose sought-after percussive spirit is apparent throughout Melé's work. Finally is 'Dancing Mist', an exclusive from Joe Corti, an up-and-comer from the UK. The sophisticated, New York-inspired, rolling house cut with plenty of bounce rounds off the perfect vinyl selection from the anticipated Defected presents Melé In The House.

12inch22.01.201922.JAN.19

HouseDeep

Originally released on Sex Trax in the '90s, Matt Edwards' R-Time Records reissues two Roy Davis Jr. remixes of Nate Williams.

Roy Davis Jr. needs little introduction as one of Chicago's finest house music producers, releasing on labels like Peacefrog, FXHE, Large Records, Cajual, Strictly Rhythm and Daft Punk's Roulé, producing for artists like Faith Evans, Mary J Blige, Patti LaBelle and Morcheeba, not to mention creating one of electronic music's greatest anthems, 'Gabriel'. An in-demand remixer, Roy Davis Jr's early work on Sex Trax - DJ Duke's sub-label to Power Music - was some of his finest, particularly two renditions of fellow Chicagoan producer Nate Williams.

Released in '94, Roy's Deathwish Mix of 'Club Patrol' is a moody and psychedelic cut complete with stomping kicks and twisted synths - the track was a staple in the sets of DJs like Andrew Weatherall. Meanwhile, Roy's Total Recall Mix of 'Klimax' dropped a year later and features heady piano riffs, crunchy snares and sweeping effects.

HouseDeepDisco

Following a summer which has encapsulated tour dates across Europe and a headline closing set at the iconic Somerset House as part of their Summer Series, alongside the scintillating release of a pair of 12' singles 'All My Dreams / Innocence' and 'Plaything / Like' which have sound-tracked the heat wave, Róisín Murphy today releases 'Jacuzzi Rollercoaster ft. Ali Love / Can't Hang On'. The warped and funky, groove-baiting tracks are the third pair of songs in a series of four 12'singles produced by Baltimore maverick musician/producer/DJ Maurice Fulton and released through The Vinyl Factory.

'Jacuzzi Rollercoaster' sees Murphy collaborate with Ali Love, one of London's most inventive and unpredictable voices in dance music over the last decade. Love's trademark smooth and infectious tones marry perfectly with Murphy's. In her own words; ''I love Ali Love's voice, he's got the boogie in him, he's an exceptional hook writer also. I've been hoping to work with him for a long time and this Maurice Fulton music just seemed the perfect match. The baseline in this track is highly evocative and Ali already had the title when he came to the studio, he had just been reading about a 'Jacuzzi Rollercoaster' being built in Japan and it was a notion that fit the funk of the track perfectly, we wrote the song and put the vocals down in a few hours, we're a match made in heaven!''

His warm sound has landed on the Fuse and Infuse labels as well as Rawax and Kaoz Theory. He runs his own Seven Dials label and is as revered for his resident sets in London and Ibiza as he is his studio sounds. The excellent 'On It' opens things up with tightly coiled drums, adorned with bumping kicks that immediately get you moving. A soul infused vocal brings plenty of cool to the track whilst dreamy pads add warmth and depth. A dub is also included in the package for those darker, late night sets. Both versions are sure to become club mainstays. Remixing is Enzo Siragusa, the man behind the internationally renowned Fuse brand and a driving force in the contemporary house and techno scene. He DJs around the world, hosts parties across Europe and is known for digging deep. His version is more zoned out thanks to the swirling pads, with the orignal's vocal coming at you in a dreamlike fashion, as the knotted bass hammers home the groove. This is an essential release that is sure to go on to big things this summer.

Sir Lord Commix - Retroactive (Part Three)
RTM006
R-TIME RECORDS
12inch09.10.201809.OCT.18

HouseDeepTechno

Matt Edwards' R-Time Records reissue label drops four more Sir Lord Commix tracks in the third 'Retroactive' release.

Real name Amoon Andrews, the British house producer's early discography continues to fetch high prices on the vinyl market. Dropping earlier this year, the first two instalments featured some of Commix's finest cuts and now the Rekids offshoot presents the third chapter, following re-releases of Mark The 909 King,
FBK and Sanasol (Thor & Yagya).

The origins of the opening and closing tracks from this record both go back to 'Evidence', an exquisite release that dropped on Future Monument in 1997. Space fused melodies set the tone for the otherworldly 'Evidence' - a deep house cut that oozes with soul - whilst the euphoric 'Flash 'N' Folks' layers uplifting cosmic synths over a polished bassline.

Appearing on Brighton's Ugly Music in '98, high-spirited arpeggio keys are balanced over funk-infused drums in 'Soul House'. Tying it all together, the pitched up 'B Boy Disco' - appearing on Hard Up during the '90s - features ghetto house textures and lo-fi aesthetics those float throughout.

Stephan Bazbaz & Asael Weiss - Only EP
MOSSV009
Moss Co

HouseDeep

Moss Co. continues into 2018 with Stephan Bazbaz & Asael Weiss's 'Only' EP, a three tracker equipped with two original productions, complimented further via a remix from FUSE's very own Rossko. Lead track 'Only', a collaborative effort between Bazbaz & Weiss, kicks things off with decidedly a stripped back sonic palette, rich in analogue warmth. Sparkling keys bounce off tripped-out atmospheres, as steady rolling beats and subs push the track onwards. The EP continues with Rossko's 'Only' reinterpretation, an extremely accomplished debut remix that deftly draws from the original's blissed out musicality, with renewed razor-sharp focus on low-end theory and percussive weight. A promising sign of things to come for this recently indoctrinated producer. Bazbaz closes off the package with 'Tagzimi', a solo endeavor that sees modulating dub chords trade blows with snappy percussion and rich pads, a beautifully constructed roller destined for long form sets during the early hours. Landing in June, the 'Only' EP is set to be a staple feature in the record bags of discernin

Vinyl Speed Adjust - Back And Forth Ep

Vision Quest
12inch11.09.201811.SEP.18

HouseDeepTech

Bucharest duo Vinyl Speed Adjust return to Visionquest...
Four tracks of the Crystal Structure/VSA bossmen's signatur grooves, 'Back & Forth' builds on the introspective motion and reputation of their previous Visionquest EPs 'Retro' and 'Carpe Diem': 'Off & On' is a tight weave of heavy atmospheres and swelling basslines, 'Blue Notes' takes us up a gear thanks to a bassline that bumps with authority and a maze of rhythmic layers.
Deeper again we hit two more mystic moments: 'Noek' is deep, direct and driving while 'Late Shuffle' flips the coin for a smouldering farewell. Like all Vinyl Speed Adjust EPs it leaves you wanting more.

David Gtronic & Dudley Strangeways - Diminution Ep
LB014
Leftback Records
excl15.01.201815.JAN.18

HouseDeepTechVinyl OnlyTechnoMinimal

Dudley Strangeways & Michael McLardy's Leftback imprint has long been a reputable source of discerning house and techno. On their latest, they remind us just why they've become such a trusted label, with their 14th vinyl-only release emphasising the fact with some aplomb. A collaborative effort between label head Dudley Strangeways and prolific German producer David GTronic, the Diminution EP is a potent reminder of both producer's talents and is a typically eclectic listen to boot.

Opening up the release is the sounds of the title track. A fast-paced, albeit relatively minimal effort, it's made up of few parts but still commands the listener's attention courtesy of its many oddball motifs and an underlying baseline that really provides a spark. A delicate yet intricate track, it's the sort of weapon that will brilliantly bridge the point between the night's more down tempo and peak time moments. TIJN then comes correct on the remix tip with a brilliant remix of the latter. The British producer has been seen his work crop up on a host of esteemed labels recently, and this effort is another that'll slide neatly into an already impressive discography. More frantic than the original, it calls on its charming melodies to produce an ethereal, hypnotic track that will work wonders on a large system.

The B side then kicks off with Melee', a delicate track that's imbued with gentle, sun kissed motifs from the off. Reminiscent of classic Mathew Jonson tracks, it's nothing if not an intriguing antidote to matters elsewhere. Culminating the package is the sounds of label boss Michael McLardy, who perks up with a slamming remix of Melee'. Drawing on the original's emotive sound, he whips the intensity up several notches and leaves us with a track that's notable for its ability to slide into any part of a set. Filled with a range of emotions, it handily emphasises all that's great about this release.

Linkwood - Expressions Remixes Pt2
FIREC017
Firecracker Records
12inch16.12.201516.DEC.15

HouseDeepTech

When commissioning remixes, the best labels think outside the box. That's exactly what Firecracker's Lindsay Todd did when seeking out producers to rework tracks from Linkwood's excellent Expressions album. On this second 12" in an ongoing series, that faith has paid dividends. Whereas the original version of "Ignorance Is Bliss" was a warm, woozy, sun-kissed deep house affair, Healing Force Project has reinvented it as a stargazing chunk of 21st century space jazz, complete with twinkling chords, low-slung double bass and reverb-laden drum solos. The Musephased interpretation of "Love Lost" by Kimochi label head Area sticks closer to the ultra-deep, melancholic vibe of Linkwood's original, but adds a frisson of excitement via bubbling, Detroit-influenced electronics and hypnotic rhythms.

Matias Auguayo ft. Mujaji The Rain - Rain
COMEME048
CÓMEME RECORDS
12inch27.11.201827.NOV.18

HouseDeepHip-HopAfrobeat

Cómeme delivers to you one of the freshest rhythms of 2018, recorded in Johannesburg, the new residency for the renegades of the beat. This is 'Rain' - starring Matias Aguayo and the actress, dj and singer Ayanda Seoka aka Mujaji The Rain. She's resident at the legendary Bar Kitchener's all femme 'Pussy Party', a space for feminist / queer action and dancefloor joy, right in the centre of Joburg.

Cómeme has been since some time in a serious and passionate relationship with that city. Radio Cómeme transmitted shows from there with electronica legend Felix Laband, Mpumelelo Mkatha from BLK JKS, the queer performance duo Faka, Gqom pioneers RudeBoyz and also Kwaito's legacy keeper Spleef McZaul. Matias Aguayo ventured into a beautiful collaboration with DJ Spoko, released two years ago on this label.

'Rain' is a deeply rhythmical track, inspired by the grooves that converged when Cómeme swing crossed the paths with the syncopations people in Joburg were dancing to. It has become quite clear in the recent years that elegantly shuffled triplets are marking a way to the future in dance music, especially in the southern hemisphere, no matter if you're in Durban, Rio or Santiago.

On top of this modern groove we can hear Mujaji the Rain enjoying how she gets wet under a dark and tropical sky. Laughter, joy and ecstasy is what she emanates while hypnotically involving you into this atmosphere of dense drumming and trance. (side note: Cómeme has been consequently evading the description hypnotical in press releases but this time it was unavoidable).

For further jacking fun we generously included a 'Club Mix', including more drum frenzy towards the second half of the track, and a 'Just Drums Mix' for the skilful DJ.

Side B features the jam 'Serious', which comes along with another killer beat, reminiscent of Michael Jackson or Cheri. A late-night track in which Mujaji The Rain turns into a sensual but slightly annoying creature that doesn't want to leave the dancefloor. and for sure doesn't want to go home.

We added an instrumental version to this complexly arranged tracks, which feature pianos, strings, and heavy synth bass stabs.
All tracks on this 12' are written in a 6/8 signature, which some normative DJs might shy away from, but be safe: both tracks are in 120 bpm and carry the seal of official Cómeme dancefloor approval by the label's highly respected DJs.
