DJ Octopus begins 2015 as he finished 2014, with a typically forthright selection of late night jams that join the dots between vintage deep house, acid, European techno and the analogue style jack tracks of Willie Burns and the L.I.E.S crew. There's a particularly day-glow feel about deep house opener "Untitled", which features looped organ riffs and energy-packed drum machine rhythms. "The Player" switches things up nicely thanks to some brilliant, cut-up slap bass antics, while "Ghost Antics" sounds like the sort of early British acid track that was found lying around on a dusty DAT. Finally, "Purple Pills" invited you to drop illicit refreshments and lose yourself in a brightly coloured fusion of rave chords, bounding beats and clandestine textures.

Detroit Wax presents the first EP of a series of three from the Godfather of Techno Soul, Eddie Fowlkes. This first EP DW/0011, deep and classy, is a perfect introduction to the new direction Eddie wants to take. Four tracks that will bring you further into the groove, from a sweaty nightclub to a poetic walk in the woods. Side A is designed as a wonder that starts with the perfect spell, SideA.(1)"No Worries", which creates a unique mood you want to listen to more and more. The second track SideA.(2)"Oriane" is hypnosis itself like a long journey where dance lead to transe. Side B is about dancing, first with SideB.(1)"Stella" where the sound remind us of the classical French Touch sound with the irresistible voice of Eddie on top of that. The last track SideB.(2)" Imva" is going through your body instantaneously and makes you want to let yourself carried by the music. A complete EP, which shows the versatility of the Detroit artist, and will make you chilling as much as dancing!

Frank & Tony AKA artists formerly known as Adultnapper and Anthony Collins, respectively, are it again on the former's New York based Scissor & Thread imprint. First up "Apprentice" is a well-crafted deep house cut with swirling, captivating pads that build to a climax. "Lamento" with its sexy bassline, playing off the thumping drum programming and yet more swirling pads that they've proven to do so well. Lastly "Modest Season" is the sort of smoky, dubby, after hours house that Swiss producer Agnes was known for similarly, back in the day.

The ninth installment on House Is OK comes from Homeboy who brings four fresh joints to the table. After making the move to Berlin earlier this year, this Mediterranean goodboy brings some newly acquired production techniques with his latest record. Live drum sampling, loose synth riffs and other more personal notes can be heard across the entire release. For "Decisions Ricochet", Homeboy teamed up with the Croatian blues man Bebe Na Vole who takes this record into unexplored territories for the label. These four tracks weren't necessarily designed to move bodies on the dance floor, but more likely mirror his inspiration from the past 12 months and show his abilities to simply write great music. It's House Not House, post-disco, jazz, and acid synth hippie music all at the same time.

James Duncan - producer of a flawless string of sublime House EP's for labels such asReal Soon and his own Le Systeme imprint, horns man for Metro Area, Morgan Geistand Lem Springsteen (Mood II Swing) and currently on trumpet duties for Sal Principato (Liquid Liquid) - invites us to join him on a whistle stop tour through some of the subway stations in his neighbourhood for the first in a series of Brooklyn Beats'.

Jorge Zamacona returns to Mosaic with three sublime slices of raw techno flavoured house.

2011 sees the ever-prolific Milyoo stretching out from his Kentucky base, heading for world domination and gracing South-East London's favourite Cassette Library with his presence along the way. Biogram v2 locks disparate vocal fragments and found sounds into a low-down, cranky House groove, peppered with a boogie down bassline and sweeping, straight-outta-Chi-Town strings. For the flipside, the in-house WNCL remix department selects a few choice clippings from the original to present a jam tailored for the trackheads with their feet on the dancefloor.

After warm welcome of the Soul Habitat's first EP, second one continues the journey into darker side of modern underground deep house music.
Soulful flowing vibes and melodic bass sequences opens up the EP's title track - "Midnight Groove". This fine piece of music proves that underground deep house can be really funky too. Sampled classic sax parts merged together with heavy stomping beats, shuffling percussions and moody soft chords - a real soulful house DJ's must have.
Second track - "It's Been A While" - is minimalistic dark themed roller. Groovy rhythm experiments and classic vocal samples combined with chord stabs makes this track an essential DJ tool. Deep organ riffs can put the party into a deep hypnotic state - just play it loud and see the result.
B side is all about old school. "Detroit Detour" is a tribute to the true roots of house and techno music. Raw 909 beat, deep bass, dirty organ samples, high pitched strings and classic synthesizer sounds from the previous era is what makes this tune feel like a "classic" dancefloor filler from back in the days. Plain old school tune with a modern twist - this is how one could easily describe it. Plus there's a synthesizer melody section right in the middle of the track that opens time travel gate and brings back all the best clubbing memories from the 90's. Be sure to listen to the whole track - it's definitely not only about pumping and smashing.

Very special remix treatment on "Detroit Detour" comes from the NYC original DJ and producer - Doug Gomez. If You're into atmospheric tracks that has this strong detroit / NY influenced vibe, this is the right tune for You. Mad bass drops, unusual mysterious synth parts and smooth beats - all wrapped up in interesting arrangement. Doug's trademark big bass, ambient pads and refreshing melodies always equals big tune - he's the one to watch for in the nearest future.

Grobel encouraged legendary Polish hip-hop label and urban wear brand Prosto to join forces to promote local artists worldwide with their combined experience and taste. In direct translation "most" means "bridge" in Polish but also stands for Music Of Stories Told.

Second part of the Cyanide Overdose series, this time introducing the talented Mexican producer Jamin Hernandez, well-known after his releases on top notch labels, such as My Little Dog or Tenampa. This brilliant artist, based in DF, delights us with the track Everything Disppeared', a beautiful piece of melodic deep house, driven by a powerful dark bassline and spiced with a sexy and catchy women voice and beautiful piano chords. The perfect soundtrack for your late Summer Open Air sets.

The first remix comes by the French master Sebb Junior (Large Music, Salted Music). Sebb has produced it only using an MPC sampler and a bunch of good old vinyls, obtaining a fantastic track of old skool deep house. The second remix comes by the Berlin production duo, Quadrakey (Tooman Records), who have given the original track a brilliant funky touch, adding a new groovy bassline and ethereal stabs. The icing on the cake comes by the Kassel producer Georgi Barrel (Sinnmusik), who has transformed the original track into an extraordinary piece of Chicago House, with killer acid bassline and crispy synths. This ep will make you sweat like a good glass of poison.

Following a brief stint in Italy with Hesperius Draco, Frigio Records is on the road again, this time crossing the Adriatic to hook up with Le Chocolat Noir. The Croatian artist, known for Disco Panonia and his work as Honored Matres, is no stranger to Frigio, having featured on All Stars Vol 1 in 2014.Transform Ep' is introduced by the industrial mental sounds of 'Greedy Pets' and followed by a new name to the roster as June delivers his interpretation of it. A grimy wave edge is pursued by the Greek machine man for a driving take. Drums slip and bass rumbles in a tense and terse piece of gritty music. Then Le Chocolat Noir offers the dark and looming 'N.E.T.'. Blackened lyrics are sampled as thick bars of synth and licks of acid make for a menacing curtain fall on side A.On the flip side, the steely claps and burbling bass are rinsed in metal for the gleaming EBM infused 'Doing Dishes' with vocals ghost beneath the currents. Following up, vocals picked up by Colombia's Cute Heels asthe electronic savant debuts on Frigio for a simmering aquatic remix.

Not An Animal keeps up the pace and pressure with yet another high quality distinctive release, further cementing the labels specific sound and revealing more of the scope of its musical mission. Machete Savane are compromised of label co owner Andy Bainbridge and producer/composer Saul Richards. Manticore continues with their instantly recognisable hi octane yet organic discofied sound, as previously displayed via their releases on Cynic and Redux. Remix wise, there's a very much 'night and day' choice to be had here, with Johnny Nash (Land Of LIght) providing his trademark blissed-out ambience to a beatless rendition and Ian Blevins taking the original even further into dancefloor territory, upping the tempos and evoking the drive of Paperclip People.

Mr Tophat, an enigmatic Swedish house head who's awkward grooves and unconventional arrangements has heads nodding across the universe.From Another Dimension EP was inspired by his addiction to the club tracks that Music For Freaks originally released, with Rob Mello's No Ears Dub version of Discorobot in his top 10 tracks of all time.Here, Mr Tophat generously serves up 3 of his textbook trips down the rabbit hole. This is entertainment for the freakiest of people.Aliens From Another Dimension is a squeeky adventure in sound, navigating the inner workings of Mr Tophats imagination and penchant for Sci-Fi.Prophet Funk is a chugging, progressive slice of hip house surrealism. Its quirky call and response melodies and gawky vocals are straight out of an episode of the Twilight Zone. Message To The Stars is a love song to the multiverse and the stars that reside within her. A funky breakbeat is underpinned by discordant melodies and lead lines that resonate with the head and the heart.

Ears Have Eyes are ready to drop their 4th release, this time drawing on the fertile pool of talent available in their adopted home of South East London.
We kick off with the duo FYI Chris who, while not manning the counter of Peckham institution Rye Wax, have been putting together an impressive string of releases on labels such as hurch, Lumberjacks from Hell and Rhythm Section.
Nightmare is possibly their darkest offering to date, pairing chugging drums with jagged acid lines.
Up next, the odd and elusive character of Nick Araguay delivers a silky smooth cut of warm, emotive techno.
Hot on the heels of his recent wax on the excellent Peur Bleue imprint, he's definitely an artist to watch out for.
Over on the flip we have Murun B & Ivor E with a fine track of deeply textured techno.

Finishing off proceedings we have a lovely cut of rough yet sparkling house music that shows off the talents of young production duo The Soft.

Zarenzeit is a band project by the label owners with lead keyboarder and producer George Btp, also known as Allstarr Motomusic or Dan Piu. After several live projects back in the 90ies, the band releases its first full album as "Black Inside" with vocalist Debra Jones Davis and Sarignia Bonfà.
The LP infuses deep soulful house and 80ies funk elements, starting with the ambient house drift of "Time Travel", which soon settles into a classic rare synth pop as "2Souls, 1Heart", while "Let them know they won" blasts more into the spacy and light dancefloor. Sarignia's lovely gospel version of "Talk about a child", ends the album on a spare, but no less grooving, note.

After a first LP supported by various artist as Rone, Rodriguez JR, Ark, Electric Rescue, Morpheus or Laurent Garnier, Timid Records is proud to announce Arno Gonzalez' s second album: « The Delivery Boy ». More personal (no featuring this time) and more direct into producing process, Arno tells us pieces of his own story: a come back from a gig in Brest (Back From Vauban), a crazy Sunday afternoon (Domingo Dance), a trip to Japan (Kimura), a train ride to Charles De Gaule Airport (Angers/CDG). He also recalls with a dose of sorrow the cycles effects of buzz and modes into music (Less Was More), the old time Techno (The Break), noisy and synthetic Funk (The Message) or the crazy run of a delivery boy (The Delivery Boy) which will be soon clipped by the motion designer Smoh.
The most surprising thing after a first listening is the work on textures and vibes which give consistency to the all album sailing

Ashworth's Grain LP captured the imagination of many in the music world on it's release last year. After releasing two original EP's from the album we get an excellent remix package from three leading lights in electronic music. What better way to wrap up his debut with Needwant. The EP serves up three very different remixes all for a different occasion and mood.
The ever reliable Dorisbourg, who remains one half of the lauded Genius of Time, takes a laidback Electronica approach but with Techno at it's heart. Newcomer Kris Davis and Yost keep the original feel of Cork but provide a sensual but progressive vibe.
While Simon Haydo drives all the way to the end with his remix of Fireworks. Great production on show across the EP for the emerging producer Ashworth.

Cecyl, known by the UK government as James Wheeler joins KIZ delivering a killer original named 'Forever' that's backed up by three diverse remixes also welcoming house enthusiasts James Barnsley, Mr KS and Julian M to the KIZ family.

Cecyl first put out an original for VIVa Music and has went on to build a discography of music remixing for the likes of Love Not Money, Elite, Mile End and Definion:Music. Anyone who knows what's up will recogonise from the first thud that this is a serious EP and was created for house music lovers to enjoy.

'Forever' intertwines a bass drum driven groove and an imagination of cleverly arranged deep chord patterns making this a real underground house track. James Barnsley keeps it real by giving 'Forever' a punchy dub workout and focuses on working the dance floor by adding extra depth to the rhythm and fires up the percussion.

The B-side displays the talent oozing out of the French music scene as Mr KS steps up first and transforms the bass line for the floor and injects his deep swinging sounds that he has become recognised for through his (djebali) presents and Tsuba releases. Julian M finishes off the record by taking 'Forever' down Schenkin St pumping it full of huge jackin house elements and explodes the track into a bomb, which is guaranteed to move dance floors around the globe this summer.

Keeping up their regular and on point release schedule, French outlet D3 Elements now looks to a DJ and producer from the southside of Chicago. Ellery Cowles has been making unique house sounds since the mid 1990s as well as being a respected DJ who is revered across the States. His music has come solo as well as in collaboration with the legendary likes of Ron Maney, Roy Davis Jr and Brian Harden and Cowles has released on labels like DaFunk, Hybrid and Hizou Deep Rooted Music.
Up first is Inner Force, a widescreen house tune that exists on the outer edges of our galaxy. Lush pads bring a 90s feel as twinkling keys and cosmic melodies expand out in all directions. The mid tempo drums are groovy and warm and the result is truly spiritual. Shell then flips the script and is a slick acid tune where a lone 303 rips away above a rubbery drum and crisp clap. It's zoned out and hypnotic and will lock in any floor. On the flipside, Crook-Ed gets back to a cerebral headspace with gorgeous and golden pads and sonorous, rich chords that are soft yet urgent. Distant acid adds texture to what is otherwise a super smooth and serene deep house cut direct from the heart of Chicago.

"The Bag of Bones EP is an unsettling yet beautiful record. Coming from a time when South Africa is undergoing an unnerving state of change with revolution bubbling just under the skin. The record speaks of hope, anger, love and dreams.

Following a debut EP on Golf Channel in 2015, Autarkic aka Nadav Spiegel has risen in status alongside his close friends and collaborators Red Axes and Moscoman. His recent debut LP for Mosco's red-hot Disco Halal has garnered critical acclaim, including a 4/5 review on Resident Advisor. Spiegel clearly has a rare talent as a songwriter, crafting the kind of intelligent, left-field pop music that one usually has to look back to the avant-garde of the 1980s to find. It's an influence Autarkic not only wears well - he seems legitimately to be of another place and time. The sound is never pastiche, even as it recalls the character and mood of familiar classics, perhaps because it's filtered, inevitably, through the fractured prism of middle eastern culture. If things were more downtempo, experimental and psych rock on his first EPs, these tracks for Turbo point squarely at the dance-floor, and have been staples in the sets of not only Moscoman and Red Axes, but in the other rising stars of the underground Israeli scene around labels like Malka Tuti and Fortuna records, as well as the global groove empire developing around Turbo A&R Thomas Von Party's Multi Culti. It's a stunning record, with substance, character, and style. The arrangements are especially strong, each song building in a way that feels exceedingly rare in dance music, in every case the second half elements come together in just the right way to surprise you, even make you fall in love. The somber vocals and unadorned production are just rough enough to make the unexpectedly beautiful twists and emotive flourishes call your attention and keep you hooked. For those that still need convincing, there's also a slamming Red Axes remix, as if those guys need any introduction. An unexpected and welcome return for Tiga's venerable label.
