Unsurprisingly, Richard Galling, does indeed hail from Milwaukee, having released disco inspired jams since about 2012. With his stuff getting plays on the likes of Beats In Space, he got his name out early. His latest offering is this single that features two original tracks and some remixes too. '303 features the eponymous bass machine all over this deep, arpeggio-heavy tech-disco jam, 'Organ' swaps the 303 for a classic Robin S-style house organ, and 'Prophet' adds some big room bass. Also included is a Prophet version of 'Clear Water", a real late 80s, Shep Pettibone-style, Latin house joint. Luke Solomon's Body Edit, is absolut Dancefloor HEAT !!!!
Out with old, in with the bold... Pets prepare us for a fresh new year start with an early-ears peak at what they have in store for 2017. It starts right here with a techno maestro who - thanks to a deep stash of thoroughbred beats on Soma, Hypercolour, Echocord and Kontra - shouldn't require much of an introduction: Roberto Clementi. Resident at Harmonized - one of Italy's finest underground club institutions - here we find Roberto analysing his role at its fullest flex: the range, versatility and subtlety and the almost important need to master all shades of the night: the ability to set the scene and prepare the countdown, knowing when to play the lead and knowing how to bring things home with respect to the dancefloor who make the party every single trip. It begins with 'Avesys' in every possible way: its dubby warmth, rippling rhythmic elements and patient percussive builds (all wrapped up with soft-but-stern insistency), don't just mark the perfect tone and timbre of an on-point take off set, but also trigger the whole full-spectrum, deep space EP concept. Scene setters don't come any clearer. 'Voschod' follows with a one-way trip into space as we explore the lesser-told half of the 60s space race and the Russian's second wave manned spacecraft trips. You can almost hear the countdown as the kicks rumble beneath you and you can definitely feel the fire power and low end thrust when the full track takes off. Peaktime Clementi; guaranteed lead-taking material. Maintaining the outer planetary sensation, 'Landing A Man' spins us into gravity-free stasis with an historic homage to Kennedy's ambition to land a man on the moon. Looping up the respected president with trippy, head-turning results he utilises a drum set so wide and cliff-like you can feel the earth's orbit and gravity drawing you back to terra firma with weight and confident firmness. Bringing it home... Only to shoot you back

Mysterious Berlin imprint MASK preps its second release with four more untitled tracks this March.
Continuing the theme of the first release, 'Noah' has been produced and recorded live in one take using a selection of analogue gear, including an EMU SP 1200, Mutual Instruments Ambika, Nord Rack 2x, Octatrack, Vermona Action Filter 4.
A soothing synth line sets the tone of the 'A1' before implementing sporadic drums and squelchy notes, making way for the melodic chords and a wall of sub bass in the mesmerising 'A2'. Murky atmospherics and a medley of percussive hits generate a dusty aesthetic in the 'B1' until the organic beat and distorted robotic sounds of the 'B2' provide an otherworldly conclusion to the enigmatic release.

Cahoots Records continues to bring new house sound to light with respect to the past influences that have shaped it's history. Volume 6 continues the Cahoots tradition of combining 4 striking house trax on one record.
HOOTS006 kicks off by way of Harrison BDP, a young talent from the UK. 'Sole' packs the right amount of driving bass, spacey pads and aerial vocal moments, topped with an old school-tinged groove.
A2 moves into firmer territory as Cahoots welcomes another U.S. artist to the roster, Jackson Ryland. A talented producer and DJ, Jackson has performed at Cahoots Records events in New York and in his hometown of Washington, D.C. Ryland's 'Don't Rush Me' mixes a shuffling groove with hard hitting bass that tastefully challenges the routine four-to-the-floor flow.
Heat Vibes raises the temperature on the B-side with some raw and heavy house straight from Mexico City. 'Mind Rek' conjures up mind-blowing bass and drums that only Heat Vibes can deliver. The track's use of distorted sounds and straight-forward rhythms dish out serious attitude.
Volume 6 closes out on a high note as Cahoots welcomes its first NYC artist, Greco. A talented producer and DJ, Greco has performed at Cahoots parties in NYC and maintains a busy touring schedule with gigs around the US and abroad. Greco's 'Dub In This Life' merges organ stabs, sweeping synths and a jacking groove with an old school New York flair.

Beginning in the early '90s, Emmanuel Top became France's first techno superstar, even if his popularity was greater in countries like Germany and England than his own. He released a multitude of 12"s on the Attack label -- La Pipe a Eau, Krankenhaus, Ecsta-Deal, Stress, Turkish Bazar, and many more -- many of which are compiled on the triple-disc Release collection from 1995. Top's next step took him to Nova Mute alongside heavyweights like Plastikman. In addition to his solo work, Top also collaborated with Bruno Sanchioni and Bruno Quartier in the mid- to late '90s as the trance act B.B.E. ("Seven Days and One Week") and also as Age of Love (the original "Age of Love").
For his latest release, Top perks up on emerging Chilean label, Sienna Obscure. Helmed by producer Jeavan Vega, the label has already played host to some of techno's foremost players, with Steve Rachmad, Neil Landstrumm, Steve Stoll and Philippe Petit just some of those who've graced the label in recent times. Entitled the Redux EP, it sees Top deliver two exceptional originals, with remixes coming from none other than Hardfloor and Joey Beltram.
The release opens with the title track, 'Redux'. A slamming peak-time number full of tense atmosphere, it quickly unfurls into a track of gargantuan proportions. By the time the acid-led baseline plays out, it's drawn the listener in hook, line and sinker. The other original, 'Blitz', is no less manic. Again, the 909 plays a prominent role, this time alongside another cast of ominous, unrelenting beats.
Hardfloor then emerge with their remix of 'Redux'. A catchy monster that's made for peak time floors, its almost abrasive feel is matched only by its steely, industrial motifs. Although it deviates windily from the original, it's nonetheless a fitting tribute. Culminating the package is Joey Beltram, who (momentarily, at least) takes matters down a notch on his interpretation of 'Redux'. Beltram's history in techno circles needs no explaining, and this remix is ample proof that he's evidently in no mood to slow down any time soon. A raucous reworking, it closes the release in assured style.

A double album of dirty, raw, bone-grinding Techno from post apocalyptic survival times by Franziska Lantz released on Global Warming Records, London 2017 Loaded with heavy distortion, fat textures, harsh beats, relentless rhythms, moody synths and erratic melodies, this sound is bursting with rawness and urgency. The B-side sees the release of 2 newer cuts - Breaky beats and trancy melodies of this young talent with much more to come.

Some things simply take time, so after and inbetween several releases on Cocoon Recordings throughout 2017, after one year Rico Puestel returns to his creative outlet [ahrt] with four delightfully imbuing reworks of the label's debut release "Astrayed" !
did he ever really leave berlin yes: sascha funke was regularly in cologne. but then nowhere else. sure, as a dj and live artist he travelled around the world. but as a producer he always remained true to his peer labels bpitch control and kompakt with some minor exceptions.
so far, so good. but now, just after the german that started his early attempts as a producer to-gether with paul kalkbrenner dropped some new feverish spaced out solo eps on imprints like multi culti and tiga's turbo recordings label, the berlin born producer, dj and football fever victim re-leases his new, third solo album 'lotos land' on tokyo's finest platform for diverse musical adven-tures endless flight.
a step out of the usual environment, not only in terms of the address. funke embraces fresh sound territories without forgetting his past. with already two solo albums on ellen allien's bpitch control label under his wings and the longplayer 'unknown', that he tuned in with julienne dessagne (aka fantastic twins) under the alias saschienne in 2012 for kompakt, on the shelf, he knows what it means to write and dramatize an album.
all tracks on 'lotos land' are well selected. together they built a bewitching story arc. with some singing help from the scottish crooner david wilson, voice of the glasgow based melancholic dance sensation junto club and the tel aviv born musician autarkic, exotic but yet perfect to sing along melodies partly enthral the listeners, too.
and even if sascha funke is part of the club culture since the nineties: his musical memory and sensibility goes way back before the early techno and house eruptions. for his new works, that all had been produced in berlin during the year 2016, he removed the dogma of functionality and shifted into a riskier, more open terrain, that does not offer club sensations mainly.
'i think i would not have made such a diverse album without the time with saschienne. before saschienne i mainly worked sample-based and produced exclusively at the computer. by working with julienne as saschienne i discovered my love for the instrument.
"playing" with the different synths is for me the greatest progress and ultimately also the best pos-sible form of expression for my music.' he confesses.
for his new tracks he used several kind of gear - from a korg arp odyssey to a dave smith prophet 8, moog voyager, solina string keyboard or a yamaha pacifica guitar. stylistically his new orchestra lead him to a mesmerizing meltdown of trance, techno, synth-wave, post-punk and ambient parti-cles.
'the use of all the synths allows you to work more emotional' funke explains and points his finger to the emotional landscape of 'lotos land' that delivers enchanted atmospheres, sensible stomping grounds, funky twisted spheres and tragically hip psychedelic zones.
at large there is an unmistakable strong uk influence. be it new wave, pop or early dance and techno stuff. sometimes the bass rolls like in a the cure song, then dreamy synth sceneries arise to stick in the mind.
the cover artwork comes from mule musiq and endless flight hamburg based home illustrator stefan marx. it features a marx styled interpretation of 1901 illustration by the british painter wil-liam edward frank britten, that was made to the poem 'the lotos-eaters', written by the poet alfred tennyson.
the picture as well as the poem, after which funke also named his album, tells much about the record. where the drawing, the words and the music come together, everyone has to find for themselves. only one thing can be said: sascha funke traveled far for his new music to reach an altered state. and nothing else should happen to those, who surrender to his latest music.

Sneaker is going deep with his interpretation of Rai music on RAT 6. ''Rai is a type of Algerian popular music that arose in the 1920s in the Algerian city of Oran, back then known as ''little Paris'', it was a melting pot of various cultures, full of nightclubs and cabarets, it was the place to go for a bawdy good time. Out of this milieu arose a group of Male and Female Muslim singers, who rejected the refined, classical poetry of traditional Algerian music. Instead, to the accompaniment of pottery drums and end-blown flutes , they sang about the adversity of urban life in a raw, gritty, sometimes vulgar, and inevitably controversial language that appealed especially to the socially and economically disadvantaged.'' sounds like the definition of Rat Life! Put some drum machine patterns on top of it and here we go: long overdue Sneaker solo EP on Rat Life Records!

Calling in the favors: Marcel Dettmann, Roman Flügel and Scuba under his SCB Inversion disguise, take apart songs and tracks from Tuff City Kids' debut album - Adoldesscent'. Dettmann, submisses to his new wave and em callings, keeps the song that is - Scared' intact, but mangles it into a fast-paced pogo piece, while Flügel uses his second take of - RMancer' (see the Happy Gerdy remix for reference) to push it into the K-Lauer abyss, before SCB Inversion tones down the rockism of - Nordo' and makes it inherently his own. To complete the picture, you get - Thorarium' by TCK themselves. A previously unreleased track that is basically a remix of a previously unreleased track. Haha!

Subosc is back with the second chapter of the "Organic Elements" series dedicated to Techno music characterized by refined ambient aesthetics. The EP includes contributions from Kessell (Polegroup, Granulart), Hiroaki Iizuka (known for his works on Coda Records, Nheoma and his appereance on Tresor), Drafted (Soma, Balans, MMaudio) and Ben Buitendijk (Field Records, Oblique, Mosaic).Although the tracks are clearly aimed for the dancefloor, they are also perfect for intimate listening, since the modeling approach used considers a balance between the sharpness and effectiveness of traditional techno elements with the mellowness of dreamy textures, pads and atmospheres. Inspiring, mind wandering, intense and analog souding are the most suitable adjectives to descrive these compositions, in which the mixture of influences from four minds blends in a unique outcome. A must have for all the collectors and lovers of modern techno with a soul attitude.

Jonny White's Art Department returns this March with his first solo EP in nearly 3 years, the first of a string of releases planned for 2018. The record features three inventive new tracks, including one produced in association with New York house pioneer Toddy Terry and vocalist Roland Clark. In no uncertain terms, this package re-asserts Art Department as one of contemporary house music's most essential voices.
White has continued to build on the early success of Art Department with solo works and high-profile collaborations in recent years. It is an alias that transcends genre, infused with elements of dub, acid, house and techno and is well informed by the past whilst always striding into future and unknown musical territory. This new release does this once more with three standout productions that are a further bold statement of intent.
First is 'Sour Jazz', a cut which intimately shows off White's originality in the studio, delivering a sublime production rooted in driving, weighty drums and twisted bass. Up top, pained synths bring a sense of real emotion to the groove and as things unfold, keys run down the face of the arrange- ment. Clever breakdowns build the tension and the palpable heat, sweat and intensely of being lost in a packed dancefloor oozes out of the track, flooding you with feeling.
The brilliantly bristling '721 (Queen St)' shows off White's ability to programme an essential and absorbing drum line: it is bouncy and big, elastic and lively, and cannot fail to get under your skin thanks to its instantly classic sound and old school flavour. The physical nature of those drums are offset with deft chords which dance up top and bring light to the track, while sax lines gently drift in and out for extra musical flavour.
And so to 'Roots Deep', a collaboration that spans the decades, back to the roots of house music with Todd Terry and Roland Clark. Reminiscent of earlier Art Department records with unforgettable hooks tied down with tough percussion, it is an immediately timeless anthem done as only this man can. Waves of synth and echoing vocal stabs set the stage, but it's when the famous 'in the beginning' vocal starts that hands will go skyward and the club will erupt. It brings a near religious edge and gospel feel to the track, whilst a standout bassline tumbles down the scales to finish things in robust style.
Once again here, Art Department combines a true understanding of dance-floor dynamics and house history with a unique sense of vision that ensures this is an EP packed with vital and inventive new sounds.

The tireless and titanic dance figure that is DJ T. is next up on Seth Troxler's essential Play It Say It label.
DJ T. has done it all in his long and storied career, from setting up one of the most influential labels in Get Physical to founding Groove Magazine via opening the Monza Club and, of course, serving up always inventive EPs and LPs on the best labels of the day. His sound has evolved through many house, disco and tech styles and has kept him an in-demand DJ for more than 25 years. These new missives are yet more proof that few know how to work the floor as well as DJ T.
The perfectly menacing 'Keep It Close' kicks things off with a dark, snaking bassline underpinning freaky synth stabs. The pressure builds throughout and will have the crowd locked in before it pulls back and builds again with a masterful grasp of mood.
Hitting much harder is the excellent 'The Day It All Started', a more physical house track with solid kicks is designed for maximum impact in the club. Tumbling bass and gurgling synth riffs flesh this one out and ensure it is a real piece of dynamite.
Last of all is the retro-tinged '1988', with its tightly programmed drums, slick claps and spraying acid line. It's a wild track to get the freaks out of the shadows and on to the 'floor.
This is a fresh EP that offers three very different but equally effective club tracks that are sure to blow up in the coming months.

Find Your Own Records launches with Ceri's 'Life Holstee E.P.' and includes a Fred P Reshape.A strong debut for this new label, a record that fuses the darker and deeper sounds of Detroit, Berlin and London.Fred P aka Black Jazz Consortium delivers a timeless remix, his reshape of the title track tantalises the drum grooves, adds his trademark atmospheric ethereal synths and reworks the bass in such a way that is unexpected yet astounding. The B side 'We Do' is the deeper of the three tracks, fusing mysterious vocal stabs with minimal funky drums and deep rolling bass.Whilst the music is at times deep and dark, the message of the EP is positive, the title track drawing it's inspiration from the Holstee Manifesto, a manifesto that producer Ceri aspires to live by. This message is echoed by the lyrical content of the vocal snippets used in 'Life Holstee'. This is juxtaposed with haunting eerie moog synths, alongside variating funky analog drum rhythms and sub-bass.
With early support for the label coming in from the likes of Mr. G, D'Julz, Paranoid London and more besides, Find Your Own Records is off to a flying start, we can't wait to see what else they have in store for the future.

Expanding on his signature mix of traditional Ethiopian music and modern hardware, with subtle nods to hip-hop and UK garage, all worked into something wholly different. Hand drumming, vocal ribbons and rugged basslines run wild through Letu Sinega's shifting polyrhythms, with vibes that range from meditative to mad...' 'After all the wind and fuss, and empty or beautiful words,' avers ER, 'what matters is the music. Forget about all your preconceptions when you listen to a piece. Late eighties, early nineties. A back-alley studio in Antwerp where New Beat and Detroit techno lingered. Trance was still in the house. Electronic body and mind music, fuelled by common sense and primitive artificial intelligence.
There was a Buzz about Wonka. Elektrons revolving around Atom. Humanity firmly on the Mappa Mundi. Labels and sub labels, one-off projects and alter egos, unsung heroes and soon-to-be stars. Laurent Garnier pushing Ludovic Navarre to pass on his tapes. All-night light from Koenie's basement. Sven Van Hees entangled in Liaisons Dangereuses. Jan Van Den Bergh before lounge. Jan Vanneste spreading the News. Jan Berquin and Nicolas Rosquin going quadratic.
USA Import was ready to export its own music. Antwerp bio techno. Homegrown and uncut. These tracks are evergreens from that place and time.

Belfast-producer Space Dimension Controller, a.k.a. Jack Hamill, may be landing his debut release on Dekmantel, but he's definitely no stranger to their shores. With the three-track EP 'Gaining Time' clocking in at over 35-minutes, phasing between cosmic kaleidoscopic house, and serene, epic ambient, — a sonic atmosphere reminiscent of the background resonance the galaxy permeates on a daily basis — Hamill's Dekmantel debut is closer to that of an album, than your average set of club 12's.
.
Hamill began his production career with the space-disco EP 'Journey to the core of the unknown sphere', a record that truly set him apart from his peers, showcasing his technical nuance, and love of melodics. Since then he's further established himself through conceptual-album projects on Ninja Tune, experimental dancefloor EPs on R&S Records, and experimentations on techno through Royal Oak. With his penchant for techno, and inclination towards painting musical narratives around science fiction and electro-futurism, Hamill is the next step in evolution towards Detroit-like, future music, albeit from Northern Ireland.
His latest EP kicks off with 'Everything is Better Now' and a countdown that blasts off into a trans-dimensional 14-minute journey of warped kicks, pads that phase in-and-out of our conventional timezone, a bassline that doesn't pop-up until the four-minute mark — like a gravity fluctuation abruptly peering through a temporary wormhole—, melody, character, and a free flowing story arc worthy of the Space Dimension Controller himself. 'Everything is Better Now' is an epic, techno-futurist journey of progressive, fluid, epicness. 'NRG Intersect' is a beautiful 15-minute ambient transmission from outer space, played out with synth chords, across strummed melodies and a tape deck hitch here and there, like an uncoded language from a far off land - as if Brian Eno himself has forgotten to include the track on his lunar, legacy record 'Apollo'. 'Still Returning' takes the ambient coding and minimises it yet further, like Solaris itself beckoning from its cloudy, deep, mystic blue oceans.

Life And Deaths DJ TENNIS

Hot on the heels of their role on Correspondant Compilation Five, Mexican maestros Zombies In Miami return to Jennifer Cardini's label once again this summer with two supreme space-aged head jams. Following recent disco excursions on Hippie Dance and Bordello A Parigi, the duo retreat to the shadier, heavyweight side of their signature with 'Take Control' and 'Last Gun'. 'Take Control' is a glacial creeper laced with frosty electroid synths and a smouldering hypnotic beat while 'Last Gun' firms our focus on the looming lower tones, creating an ominous fog for the sunlight arpeggios to climb through evocatively. Complete with on-point remixes from the Lipsky brothers' Simple Symmetry and Benedikt Frey & Nadia D'Alo's INIT project, this will have you taking control for a long time to come.

Portuguese artist Ka§par gives Parisian label Escapade its third release. The four tracks span across a wide range of electronic sounds, telling a story that calls on many emotions. 'Wail Of A Loon' opens the record with an experimental atmosphere. After this laid back introduction, Ka§par goes into a much stronger style: 'Rigged's energy and catchy, twirling melody make it a total banger. On the B side, the mood gets much warmer and groovy. 'Vital' is the perfect tune to warm up a dancefloor, thanks to a swinging rhythm, mesmerizing vocal samples and funky synth lines. 'Alma D'Ouro' rounds up the record with strong jazzy vibes. Beautiful chords and piano solos never dissapoint!
Legendary Los Hermanos member Santiago Salazar's album 'Aspirations For Young Xol' is given a vinyl release courtesy of Rekids.
A heartfelt dedication to his son Isaias, 'Aspirations for Young Xol' takes us through the life of a pillar in the electronic music community - Santiago Salazar. From his formative years spent in California to his connection with Detroit and the passing of a childhood friend, the long-player's tracks signpost the musician's significant experiences, both positive and negative. This meaningful body of work was released digitally on Pastel Voids and now Rekids release the album on wax.
'Saturated Fear' sets a deep tone for the LP, flanging melodies and echoing claps float through the composition before the album's title track 'Aspirations for Young Xol' offers haunting arpeggios with occasional acidic overtones which are cleverly offset by beautifully designed lead synth transitions. 'Bloodlines' follows a similar musical vein with delayed bass riffs that are suspended above shimmering hihats and a weighted kick.
Santiago provides three beatless pieces throughout, which digress into more emotional territory whilst offering brief respite from his heavier drum work. 'Xol's Pain' combines orchestral strings and swelling synthesisers which build tension with a subtly complex, evolving motif. Both 'Dark Matter' and 'Ode to Stinson' use arresting atmospheres, warped arpeggios and ethereal pads which lull the listener into a retrospective mood.
An intensity builds in the later tracks, a gritty but powerful low end provides a solid foundation in 'Orange Blossom Thump', eventually making way for a hectic and elastic lead synth before 'Pachuco Dub' displays drones that build a dissonant pressure in which the complex tom rhythms and rolling hi hats can grow. 'Sarah Rivera' hypnotises with its delectable chord progressions and complimentary melodies which seem to float above a rigid drum composition to close the album with style.
