The Press Groups new issue moves into the sinister territory of pre-postmodern robotics, Japanese swamps and the bird call of the ending of a century. An opaque surface reflecting a tremble in the mist. Onibaba's gaze dipped in thickness. Ligeia's call.

Ralf Schmidt has always been a nomadic soul. A spirit that reflects into his expansive take on house music. Yet, his first installment for Hivern might be his most diverse work to date. Four tracks with traces of techno, house, electro and even trance that showcase Aera's vivid vision and pristine production skills. Bibimbap starts things off by contrasting sparkling ambiences with caustic electro-infused sequences that keep meandering while a gauzy melody provides a mystifying counterpoint. Thai Park presents a much more humid atmosphere, pairing a woozy bassline with the shimmering tones of digital synths and building up the tension with menacing leads that sound as a swarm of tropical insects gliding through the jungle. On the flip, Rotunde builds around a rubbery bass, heavenly plucked notes and effervescent arpeggios. It's a serene take on trance, that reminds us that there's no need for saccharine to reach bliss. Lumen is the most vigorous track of the release, providing a heady trip through steady chords and playful arps with cyberdelic accents. It might have a big-room kick, but with all the nuances of a headphone-treat. The 12 inch comes wrapped in a sleeve by Barcelona-based designer Xavier Mar.

* Deepblak's Chief Alchemist AYBEE will release his fourth full-length studio album, 'The Odyssey', in November 2016. As befitting its grand title, this newest long-player finds him concerned with personal journeys: both the personal one that has brought him to this point - living in Berlin, 15 years since founding Deepblak in his native Oakland - and the one that beckons for him personally and creatively in future: AYBEE sees himself as being halfway up a mountain, looking back on where he has come from, and to where he will be headed next - both concepts play a profound role in the emotional textures of the album, which in true Deepblak fashion draws from jazz, deep house, techno, hip hop, blues, experimentation, cinema, space, time and infinity.
* 'The Odyssey' represents a change-up for AYBEE in several ways, forged from a desire to keep expectations at bay and throw something of a curveball for those who felt they had him pegged: "a good pitcher always keeps you off balance". This newest work saw him deliberately limit his sound palette in a creative exercise that challenged him to create a full body of work from a small pre-selected library of sonic elements. While this was restricting in some aspects, the approach to - as he puts it - "throw the ingredients in a basket and cook with it later" gave him more freedom to focus on atmosphere and groove instead of putting hours into trying out different options - "otherwise I'd still be in the studio now trying to work out which hi-hat to use on the third track!"
* While the resulting collection of tracks, bound together in sounds used yet disparate in their applications of them, may represent a more accessible AYBEE album than those prior, it still contains within it the DNA of his work with Deepblak Rhythm Czar, Afrikan Sciences - most notably in their improvised, one-take album length Miles Davis homage 'Sketches of Space'. That 2014 LP was closely followed by another collaboration, with Jerome Sydenham and Ron Trent as S.A.T., released on the former's Ibadan Records and pursuing a more techno-driven sound to the polyrhythmic jazz experimentation of 'Sketches'. Elements of both styles can be found in 'The Odyssey', as it moves through tempos and styles, yet the approach he has taken regarding the sounds used ensures it will forever be a unique work in his discography - quite literally nothing in his work before or since will sound like this record.
* 'The Odyssey''s artwork is by the artist Grzegorz Redko , whose animations of the cover art will be released online ahead of the album release, lending another dimension to AYBEE's latest statement of artistic intent, with many more still to come as he keeps climbing that mountain.
In 2001 Aybee launched Deepblak Recordings as a creative outlet for his music. Ultimately catching the attention of Legendary House DJ/Producer Ron Trent. This chance meeting led to Trent signing Aybee to the iconic Prescription Records imprint. After joining the Prescription family AYBEE, along with Trent, would come together to co-found Prescription sub-label Future Vision, and go on to create music as the "Indigenous Space People", and later as S.A.T.
* "Ron was exposed to my music through a friend of his in NY. At this time, Ron was in the NY phase of his career and was a resident at the iconic "Giant Step" parties. I was heavily inspired by his USG output at the time, and I think it was reflected in my music. I would go out in the city to the house joints and hear all styles, but when that USG/Prescription stuff hit at like 3am, it was another level of depth... it was spiritual. "

If you're familiar with CVbox' music you know that he isn't the guy for your average Techno track. Formalistic song structures aren't his thing. When you'll start to listen to a new CVBox track you'll don't know how it will end. His music derives from his deep love for analogue gear and a pretty unique way to deal with it. On his first album "So ist es im Nadelwald" CVBox rides between the corner points of Techno, Electro and Ambient. The music is infused by an omnipresent darkness that isn't just there as an end in itself but will definitely give the thrills to listener and dancers. Some of the tracks develop a rarely heard urgency on the dance floor with those dub-influenced swirls or ever-present synth tides while simultaneously preserving a rather intimate atmosphere. Sometimes it's just an unfamiliar sound that makes the difference that simply comes out of nowhere. One thing is for certain: CVBox is all about atmosphere. As you can see by the album's artwork and title ("Nadelwald" is German for softwood forest) The album is also inspired by his passion to go into nature. When he is sick of the whirlwind that is his current hometown Leipzig he disappears into Saxony's hinterland for collecting mushrooms or just letting the thoughts flow. The double 12" comes in a beautiful package designed by Jacob Stoy with hand numbered and printed outer sleeve and two printed innersleeves on strong cardboard.

VINYL ONLY. After releases on top notch labels such as Witty Tunes and Mile End, young Italian dj and producer Niceteed debuts on My Little Dog with a solid vinyl ep. 2 tracks of underground music, which wobble in that fine line between techno and tech house. Straight rhythms, dark voices and playful and malignant analog synths are the hallmarks of both songs.
The first remix of the ep comes by the skilled hands of the legendary Berlin artist Nadja Lind (Lucidflow, Wolf Trap). Nadja has played with the synths and percussions of the original track, adding a good dose of darkness, and converting it into a techno master piece. As If that was not enough, the also Berliner Dompe (Style Rockets, Playmobil), has added tones of groove to "Need Of Nicety", having as a result a perfect track for your peak time sets. Dope!
Supported by Marco Carola, Riva Starr, Maya Jane Coles, Paco Osuna, Henry Saiz, Martinez, Oscar L, Anderson Noise, Marc Poppcke,Vanilla Ace, Shiba San, Tim White, Paula Cazenave, Michel de Hey, Animal Picnic, Da Lukas, Luca Fabiani, Rodrigo Laffertt, David Museen and many more!

Miami born turntablelist & producer, Jesse Perez, throws down a booty shaking killer house jam for Edible's fourth release. What You Say About My Momma' has been ripping up dancefloors for months since landing in Eats Everything's hands, so it's a welcome release on the label, backed with a deadly remix from Truncate.
On the Original Mix, Perez grinds out a funky and low-slung groove, its memorable vocal hook looping and chopping from side to side as the raw MPC beats and sub bass weave their magic.
Truncate brings his no nonsense and direct approach on the remix, carving out a Dance Mania style drum workout over the cut up vox (think Robert Armani meets Armand Van Helden). Truncate has been a hugely dependable producer for yonks via his trax on his own Truncate label as well as mixes for Jimmy Edgar, Shlomi Aber and KiNK, and he does not disappoint here.
Perez wraps up the EP with 'Boogie Down Brown', another slab of funk laden house goodness, blending high tension strings and rolling drums to great effect.
Perez has been firing out infectious house jams for labels like BPitch, DJ Sneak's I'm A House Gangster and Hot Creations, for some time now, as well as working his own label Mr. Nice Guy, so it's a welcome addition to the Edible roster for Jesse Perez.

After having two tracks featured in last year's compilation 'Shlomi Aber live from Sankeys Ibiza", Francisco Allendes is now at his debut on Be As One with a full EP on his own. The title track 'UNITY' is a collaborative work together with Felipe Venegas, and the results of such union shine through the beauty of the track itself. On the be side, Francisco goes solo and aims the dancefloor shake with '3Dogs 1 Bed' and 'Forget The Sun", two cuts of solid, groove driven house.

Hunee presents his debut album "Hunch Music' this Spring. "Hunch Music' is the striking assembly of the artist's versatile inspirations and productional talent. It is a rich musical journey that latches onto you and doesn't let go easily.
Hun Choi, better known as Hunee, is a Korean Berliner who moved to Amsterdam over a year ago. In Berlin he used to work in a record store where he could extend his unquenchable enthusiasm for music. The connection with Rush Hour was a natural continuation of his musical path.
Firstly the DJ emerged, secondly the producer. As a DJ, Hunee manifested himself as a fine connoisseur of classic and contemporary music. Always smiling, he is determined to share every fine record he finds with the world. Over the past few years, Hunee the producer has put out some highly acclaimed EPs, but only a handful. The producer went quiet for a moment, but 'Hunch Music' proves Hunee's unstoppable character.
'Hunch Music' is rather special: it is a cinematic journey from the beginning to the end, with scenes we haven't encountered before. It starts with 'Woods' as the perfect introduction - a moody, mystic night haze that quickly changes into a warm and soothing whole. Following with 'Crossroads', the mystery transcends into something that moves us to the dance floor, and we're not sure whether we want to keep moving or we just want to listen. 'Hunch Music' has a nocturnal aura, an organic groove, and moments of glorious acid. It takes us up and throws us down, gently, while subjecting us to many cinematic and musical elements.
For an artist who is also an avid vinyl collector, it might be difficult to ensure that his numerous inspirations do not distract from his artistic signature. Hunee's production work is as colorful as his character, displaying a broad spectrum of his inspirations that manifest themselves in a surprising and seductive artistic entity.

We're sending a warm welcome to Luca Agnelli, the newest addition to the Upon.You-family, ever active producer and co-founder of the Italian imprint Etruria Beat. Mr. Agnelli has been making waves in the electronic music scene since 2006 with a string of releases and remixes on labels like Truesoul, Get Digital Music, Desolat or Moan Recordings and is now setting floors on fire with his first ever EP on Upon. You Records - 'Solaris". Opening with the title track, the massive 'Solaris' introduces Luca Agnelli's trademark style to the worlds dancefloors - a perfect fusion of dark'ish, reverb heavy underground Techno, echo'ing chords and beautiful, abstract melodies combining motor city melancholia, the immortal wizzardry of early synth masters and the everlasting fascination of spiralling Acid lines. Epic! With 'Over The Sky' we stay on a pumping Techno vibe whilst floating along on a nicely rolling bassline foundation and super sweet, uplifting melodies telling tales of genuine innocence and sparkling pulchritude - a masterpiece for everlasting sunrise sessions. Finally 'Level 1 (Upo Luca)' takes us on a technoid, bass-induced, late night rollercoaster ride sporting deep and 'troity abstractions as well as lovely, well-fragile crystalline sound fountains for those who know - get ready for the next wave of ItaloDetroit!

Following his last two EP releases on Southern Fried Records, half-Austrian/half-Russian artist producer MOTSA (real name Valerio Dittrich) has announced his forthcoming fourth EP 'Petricolour', due out 4th November on his own label imprint.
Now based out of his native Vienna, MOTSA immersed himself within UK bass/electronic culture whilst residing in Scotland, becoming a student to the sounds he uncovered and finding inspiration from his surroundings. Devoting hours of energy to his compositions, his aptitude for production has only grown exponentially in the past few years. Although initially inspired by what he heard while living in the United Kingdom, Valerio has not limited himself to solely become a pastiche of a scene for which he has fond memories, but has actively sought out sounds and textures from the vast spectrum of electronic music. This in turn has allowed him to create diverse and unique tracks, which all share a common quality with their bass led, beat driven, soulful and harmonic edge.
'Petricolour' EP is written about the decline of our western society, its beauty, wealth and our opportunities having reached a peak and the onset of gradual decay. This is reflected in the accompanying artwork (photograph by Andreas Peter Wall) , the flowers symbolising deterioration but retaining some beauty and hope. Throughout the EP, MOTSA incorporates organic textures and sounds recorded from nature and his surroundings.
Opening track 'Petrichor', featuring Sophie Lindinger (one half of acclaimed Austrian experimental pop outfit Leyya) is a sensual delight, pulsating, intelligent rhythms and the sound of water hitting concrete signify autumn and new beginnings. It is a haunting and melancholic composition, impressively recorded on Valerio's grand piano. 'Walked This Road' is a song about history and humanity repeating the same mistakes over and over. Offering the fastest tempo of all tracks on the EP, it combines jittery electronics but with an underlying sense of calm, a spellbinding and evolving cut with warm surges of melody. 'Colours' is one of the more uplifting of those featuring on the release, its use of soft vocals by David Österle and classical melodies atop restrained beats building towards an epic, emotional climax. EP closing track 'The Storm' stays true to its title, with percussive sounds and claps creating a tense atmosphere before veering into an angelic closing half, symbolising hope for its listeners.
MOTSA has garnered the attention of several influential figures and tastemakers, international dance icon Sasha included 'Sleepless Nights' on his compilation for Mixmag, Beatport named 'Untitled' one of the top tracks of it's year and i-D, THUMP, Eton Messy, Annie Mac, Dummy Mag and XLR8R are all included in his surplus of supporters. Radio support has come from BBC Radio 1, BBC 6Music, plus several rotation spots on Austria's Radio FM4 (his track 'Clocks' was also featured in their Top 100 Singles of 2015). He was invited to partake at the Red Bull Music Academy Bass Camp Vienna in 2013, and has released original and remix work on key labels such as Counter Records (Ninja Tune), PMR, Southern Fried Records, Last Night On Earth and Compost Records.
Valerio has found himself in the enviable position of being recognized and revered by the likes of John Digweed, Tom Ravenscroft, Adam Freeland and Maribou State. This list only continues to grow with each incredible remix for established acts in the field - Submotion Orchestra, SG Lewis, The 2 Bears and Flamingods being the most recent names that have commissioned MOTSA for his remix work.
MOTSA is a musician driven by a desire to convey his serious love for sounds and to push his own musical boundaries. Instead of resting on familiar structures, Valerio decided to change his approach and started recording and incorporating organic textures, instruments, synthesizers and his own voice in his new work. This has led him from a purely club directed sound towards a more melodic yet still beat heavy and danceable realm of electronic music.
'Petricolour' EP will be released digitally and on vinyl on 4th November, and also signifies the debut of MOTSA's live-set, which he will be touring across Europe in late 2016 and 2017.

Bratha is the name of the Berlin based collaboration of Matt Nowak aka No Mad Ronin and The Analogue Cops aka Lucretio and Marieu. Their releases on their own label Bratha, on Voitax and on Restoration have quickly sold out without any mainstream promotion. "Topless Dancers" is their debut E.P. on Matt Nowak´s imprint Zaijenroots. As usual, this vinyl only release recorded at the Restoration Headquarters and mastered at Dubplates & Mastering, combines refined samples and quotes with extremely solid, pumpin´ beats and fat basslines. The grooves move smoothly from the metronomic dance attitude with a romanian touch -topless dancers- of the title track, to the wobbling "Estate", undergoing to the suspended, melancholic fluctuations of "Space Boogie" and the slow discoidish "No Mad Ronins death". This pumping EP for sure fills every dancefloor with a deep and smooth vibe of real underground d

Senso Sounds drop a major release from techno heavyweight Dubfire and label boss Oliver Huntemann. Reuniting the partnership that has seen a string of seminal releases over the years in the form of their 'Elements' series, 'Humano' is the 2nd part of a continuation of this series - more weapons of grade dance-floor material from the high profile duo. Later on this year their partnership will be summarized in their 'Restrospectivo' album. Former Deep Dish man Dubfire's uncanny knowledge of how to create epic dance-floor moments is in full effect, combined with Huntemann's precision tool production techniques on the original version of the title track. The result is a super tough, tight and incalculably driving slice of techno goodness that will ignite floors worldwide. The rest of the EP manages to maintain the pressure - with a set of sick remixes from Victor Ruiz, Hatzler and Shaded. Ruiz, the Brazilian techno pioneer adds another level of fire to the original, tweaking and refining the track into a damager that pushes everything to 11 and hits home with every play. Hatzler, the Hamburg based German DJ/producer chooses a different direction - emphasizing more of the space in the original. Rinsing the tension to the next level, look out for the epic middle section break down. The whole package is primed to destroy clubs far and wide - techno at its most effective. Shaded's Summer Skin remix also delivers a tightly wound interpretation, with a bubbling bass line and nervous, excited groove providing the fuel for an extended dancefloor excursion.

Under the moniker Shed, Pawlowitz published three highly ambitious albums in which he defined his work more and more as his own way of musical narration. 'The Final Experiment' is definitely the temporary highlight of this evolution. As musical work it does establish Shed conclusively as one of the most interesting and substantial electronic music artists of our time. It carries a vibe, that links Shed to other boundary breaking artists such as Ryuichi Nakamoto, Brian Eno and Carsten Nicolai. However, Shed found a way to develop a highly individual way of communicating electronic music, that is self-sufficient. 'The Last Experiment' is a mostly homogeneous piece of work, a meditation, where the stylistic confusion seems less important than then musical statement that it represents.

Will Saul's AUS Music has seen a number of new additions to the roster this year as the label continues to prosper. Now - adding to names such as Timothy Blake, Geeman and Escape, AUS welcome in another auspicious producer by the name of Fold. Having released records on Man Make Music and Electric Minds - Fold lines up his 'Netflix & Chill' EP: a potent stack of Hip-Hop indebted House tracks backed up by the extolled and shady Kassem Mosse on remix duties. 'Calmer Mood' kicks things off, hopping between bpms and driving grubby and groovy samples over a rough kick. Filters control builds peaks and troughs guaranteed to set things off before 'Wallop' rattles off with powerful 909 drums and truncated samples in a manner that will please fans of his 'Mr Wood' no end. 'Dreamscape' then melds deftly chopped breaks with Jazz melodies to set a rich, blue tone that's propelled into overdrive by splashing drum solos stitched together with flare. Workshop owner Kassem Mosse then offers up his interpretation of 'Dreamscapes' and in doing so introduces a subtle degree of melancholy to the original that links rich, spectral pads with tumbling breaks and delayed Sax stabs that round off another fine addition to AUS' catalogue.

Australian producer Knightilfe returns with his most refined release to date, inspired this time by the rawness of early house and balearic sounds.
After a three year hibernation following 2011's I Want You EP, Knightilfe finally returned to the fold with his Tangerine Dream-inspired cut Don't Stop opening Cut Copy's Oceans Apart compilation, a collection of Australia's foremost producers in which he featured alongside fellow Melbourne dance royalty Tornado Wallace, Andras Fox and Roland Tings. Don't Stop was then released as an EP in early 2015, which also featured a cosmic rinse of the title track by Running Back and Rush Hour's disco don Suzanne Kraft alongside an original acidic number titled Interstate 08.
Having since relocated to the UK, supporting Cut Copy DJs on their recent tour of the USA and headlining Cooper Saver's decadent Far Away party in Los Angeles, Gamwell is set to round out 2015 with the release of his four-track EP VII. A refinement of the hedonistic sounds from his previous releases, this record reveals a concoction of house, acid and slow-burning balearic rhythm structures, stripping back the layers and re emerging from the haze.

Leisure System alum Kommune1 has been a fixture of the extended Infinite Machine family for a while now, but it's only now that he finally graces us with an EP's worth of originals. "Immolate" is easily his most accomplished work to date, seamlessly integrating his many influences into a cohesive, absorbing whole.
Lead track "Galax(o)" is an electronic music scholar's dream, rife with nods to all of its eras and walks, layered akin to the notes and chords of a perfume. Its ideal candidacy as object of analysis aside, however, this is no home-listening fodder; but a singular techno belter, equally capable of peak-time sustenance or 5am catharsis. Its most easily distinguishable tips-of-the-hat are to early Kevin Saunderson, via its reese-led construction, and to Burial-circa-Loner, via its desolate, dubbed-out atmosphere, ghostly vocal interjections and no-nonsense 4/4 pulse. "Phlaetus" continues the story, less concerned with the dancefloor but, paradoxically, more insistent on rhythm, weaving UKG skip, step and shuffle into the steel-reinforced concrete of the techno backbone.
"Axiom", on the other hand, is an exercise in suspended animation, seemingly capturing an ideal moment in time and repeating it every other beat...; only gradually introducing achronic artifacts that seem to gently hold the listener's hand throughout the hypnotic progression. For their remix, Effy don't stray too far from the original, but apply a melodic techno masterstroke, in the form of an infectious, otherworldly synth riff. It pervades the entirety of their take, filtering in and out, unwavering.

Astropolis Records keep on the spirit that has fashioned the identity of the oldest and finest electronic music event of France :
a pleasure that thinks plural, no matter the trends, just to share a love for music.
After highlighting young and promising producers with Madben and Oniris, rave spirit with The Driver and Electric Rescue,
Astropolis Records comes up early this year with a fourth EP released by two producers sharing the same passion for soulful
dance music : Laurent Maldo and Jules Wells. After a promising run for each and teaming up on KMS Records with a few
classy and groovy releases, they're delivering, Never Stop, a four-step journey between rapturous melodies and dancing odes
in a Detroit inspired style, including a Madben's remix.
The EP opens with the bubbling and exciting Never Stop and segues nicely on the haunting The Lighthouse, a genuine club
anthem with an exquisite vocal. While the B-side gives way to the sensual and catchy melody of Run and Madben ends the maxi with a unrestrained reinterpretation of The Lighthouse, more techno, resolutely dancing and captivating.

UK house veteran Phil Asher arrives on Rekids with the latest project in his storied career, a collaboration with emergent London poet & musician James Massiah. Having chanced upon him a performance during a Fiona Bevan Presents night at Dalston's Servant's Jazz Quarters, Asher immediately approached Massiah about a possible collaboration: "As soon as I heard James I knew I had to work with him. His poetry is infectious, textured & interesting. 'Time & Space' took years to imagine but 25 minutes to write. It took James approximately the same amount of time to lay his poem down."
Asher approached Matt Edwards with the results, and the Time & Space EP was confirmed for release on Rekids: two original cuts of futuristic house emboldened by Massiah's electrifying street poetry, and a reprise version of the title track which steps away from the dancefloor to bring the lyrical content into sharper focus.

PopHop looks like a pirate, and what he launches from his music studio sounds like pirate ships. On board of these ships there's always a very colorful, exotic bunch of personalities. They are the multicultural characters of the original tracks from all corners of the world. Under the command of PopHop they sail straight towards the eye of the thunderstorm, which means the heart of the dancefloor. It's the place where he feels home. Little by little PopHop accumulated so many remixes, edits and own tracks that they fill a whole treasure chest. That's exactly what you get: A treasure chest full of dancefloor gold, and a string of pearls that is a mixed version of all these precious grooves.

Recorded in County Durham, sounds captured in the surrounding area became part of the music. Rain is transformed into white noise, at one point a melody line mimicked by a starling - all the result of endless processes and cycles. The techniques used in creating 'Embers' allegorically mirror these processes.
Arpeggios self-evolve and are interconnected, randomness introduced utilising two similar pairs of synthesizers so that their cycles are ever changing and naturally evolving.
'Embers' start and end appear the same allowing it to cycle endlessly - the 2xLP 180g vinyl edition has been created so that the listener can mix the album without breaks across two turntables. The album artwork itself is an interpretive score of the music, using another media to view the world from a different angle.
