Ashworth concentrates on the essence of solid techno in his first full EP for made of CONCRETE. Inspired by the main component of concrete itself, the material is intitled 'Portland' and consists of no less than four original tracks. World' makes for a gentle introduction by opening with a soft melodic lead, swiftly changing the tempo after a few measures. We're quickly immersed in a syncopated bassline peppered with whirring synths that harmonise with full scale piano cuts, the most intriguing earworm on the entire cut.On Launch' the producer lays down hard hitting techno drums from the get-go, setting the foundation for a tense atmosphere. Ashworth's signature move quickly ensues, as he manages to inject emotion through synths and piano pads into an otherwise tense and anxiety-ridden ambiance.Toning down the graveness of the previous tracks' mood, 'Mineral' reveals a surrendering groove, with a stripped down, minimalist approach, where the melody is assembled with the help of industrial elements, emotive bleeps and electric glitches.Ashworth's experimental edge is evident in the final track Scatter' - the sub bass lead creates a morose atmosphere paired with low-key synths and mechanical loops. While the first two tracks showcase Ashworth's ability to instill life into solemn techno soundscapes, the second half of the EP successfully exhibits his edgy experimental side, adding up to a heterogenous release.

The perfectly formed Italian label Claque is kick starting 2015 with a tidy new two track EP that features label boss Carola Pisaturo and Nick Anthony Simoncino in collaboration, and deep house pioneer Ron Trent on remix duties.

The label has been doing its do since 2006 and always offered cultured releases, and this one is no different. Italian Simoncino has released lots of great 12inches and Eps on labels like Mathematics, Skylax and Creme Organisation, whilst label boss Carola Pisaturo also releases on a range of other labels, if not rather infrequently.

The one original is Breeze, a deep, smoky house cut with kicks way below the surface, humid pads and spoken word vocal snippets all making for a spiritual and seductive atmosphere. Full of genuinely emotive soul and conjuring up a cuddly atmosphere that is insular and cerebral, meaningful and wholly complete, it is an archetypal deep house track that puts all modern imitators to shame.

Remixing is Ron Trent, founder of Prescription records and alongside Chez Damier someone who very much laid out the blueprint for deep house in the mid 1990s. His remix allows a little more colour into the mix. Strings, melodies, jazzy lines and more expressive percussive hits all make for a more uplifting listening, but the track is still resolutely deep and spiritual.

These two cuts are essential for any true fan of the deep.

Chinese whisper's favourite DJ for years, Christian S has been around since the mid 1990s, getting his education from the legendary Cologne house underground of that decade. Teaming up with Matias Aguayo he soon himself became a key figure to the scene when launching an equally influential fin de siècle club night called Lost. With a blissfully darkened tone in dance, a fearless repertoire and illustrious like-minded guest DJs from everywhere, Lost evolved into a haven for enigmatic dancefloor mavericks, setting the pace for what was to become the Cómeme phenomenon of here and now. 

Since then, sequencing his output elegantly scarce, Christian S has been injecting some intriguing rhythms into the dance world with Cómeme classics like Jagos (just read Ben UFO's comments on it), the 2012 hit The Power of Now (which aptly never went off air since), and remixes for Philipp Gorbachev (Last Days Of The District) and Alejandro Paz (El House). 

Now that the title track of Pitch Rider, his long-awaited first solo EP for Cómeme, may still suggest a sane salute to the likes of DJ Pierre or even Womack & Womack (whose Night Rider Christian S uses to kill with in the very late hours of his sets), the real pursuit of this utter beast of a debut must be summed up like this: Farewell solid ground. Hello sweet vertigo. Here's the opener's equation: percussive pitch mastery plus radiant chord action equals yourself getting gloriously coiled up. Or as Mr. S briefly puts it: »The rave track«. 

So, when totally falling prey to one vicious little ride cymbal isn't already the baddest idea, then wait: In comes the unfathomable Philipp Gorbachev (extra drums/keys) for Number One. This one is a jam, we're told. But what sphinxy something it was to throw the dice and take control over both Christian and Philipp while recording this somberly glowing late night hypnojam, we're not told. Waking up afterwards, they might have wondered themselves. 

While the stripped down 808-only version of Die Durch Die Nase Lachen (Cómeme 022) has become a quintessential object of desire for beat adventurers worldwide, the track' s »Long Hot Summer Version« unfolds another quintessential facet of Christian S: Pop-wise nonchalance, discreetly dangerous, supremely stylised and elementary at once. Just like the sneaky melody in Drifting, the graciously filthy hi-hat over intricate layers of Rumba or the simple call at the bottom of that all: »Whoa. Let's go let's go.«

Omnidisc presents Schmutz in Transgender

The third in the Modular Techno series from live analogue artist and Freerotation organiser Steevio.
After 15 years of producing techno live on hardware, in 2009 Steevio began building a dedicated machine on which he could totally improvise an entire techno performance from a blank canvas that far surpassed anything he could do with his previous setup of drum machines and synthesizers. Steevio's modular is 100% analogue; there is no computer involved, there are no memories to save sounds or sequencing patterns, and everything is improvised in real time..
Volumes 1 and 2 of the series were just a taster of what was to come, and were the early experimentations on Steevio's newly built machine. Steevio records everything he does, especially during the intense practice sessions for live gigs. All the music in the series are out-takes from these practice sessions, and the tracks from Volume 3 and the forthcoming Volume 4 all come from a three day period in practice for a recent live gig at Delete, Bournemouth, UK.
Volume 3 continues from where Volume 2 left off but delivered with more confidence and a deeper more hypnotic feel. Steevio continues to develop his skills and fine tunes his unique instrument in this dedicated 'for life' project.

Slated for a vinyl only release, Dusky invite Hodge and Jerome Hill to remix the rolling techno of 'Parakeet Feet' from their recent 'Ordinary World EP'.

Part of the Livity Sound collective, Bristol's Hodge has been responsible for some of the most fresh and leftfield UK techno excursions in the past year or so. Focussing on the original's 'talk to me' sample, Hodge drops a dark, twisted techno banger in his unique style.

On the flip, underground legend Jerome Hill cranks out a raw, ravey acid house work out that builds and builds with a dynamic surge of screaming, layered 303s.

"Tabula Rasa" goes steeply forward - typical for the dancefloor. Remixes come from Bebetta (Berlin) and Rich Vom Dorf (Hamburg), who have produced very smashing and varied tracks. In short: A strong EP for the club!

Mikron are two English brothers, Michael & Ciaran Corcoran, living in Australia. Returning to CPU with their E.P (Vinyl) Warning Score.

Mikron's love of melody and pattern are very much at the forefront with every track full of great hooks and rhythms. The album takes you on a journey through various sub genres all delivered with careful execution and enviable studio mastery.

The title track 'Warning Score' is forged from an acid bassline with Mikron's signature saturated drums, which begs for a big room / system.

You'll find plenty of analogue action throughout, along with some downtempo IDM affairs. Prepare yourself for dark, moody and bass-heavy electronics.

Much like Crowded House, you know more Dave Clark songs than you think you do. In fact, Mr Clark's musical endeavours past & present trace a line through the occult history of the Glasgow underground. Along with JD Twitch he made up the Optimo Espacio remix unit, reworking tracks by the likes of Factory Floor, Boris & Pharoahe Monch (!). As a member of Big Ned he's traversed the nefarious regions of Post-Beefheart Shaman Rock. With Roger Elliot as State of Flux he released a series of stone-cold killing Techno records in the mid-90's. Under the guise of LUMA, Clark put out one of 2013's most anthemic 12"s for Optimo Trax in the form of the Amesville EP. As Truffle Club - driving electronic disco for the likes of Andy Blake's much-lauded Dissident imprint. Here however, he returns to the moniker of Sparky, a name you might already be familiar with having probably copped the Drexciyan epic "Portland" - the title track having been subsequently remixed by no less than Ricardo Villalobos & Tuff City Kids respectively. With this inimitable EP, Sparky dug deep into the archives to unearth two unique cuts recorded direct to tape in 1994. yes: NINETEEN-NINETY-FOUR. Listening to these tracks it becomes immediately apparent how ahead of the curve Clark was in dem heady dayz. Anyway, enough of the talkin - it's now time to step though the doors of Gnarnia and wash yourself in the light of.... the "Tapes".

Laurent Garnier - "Absolutely LOOOOOVE This!!!"

Following the launch of his limited multi edition FORMAT project in February, Trevor Jackson releases a collected triple LP edition via The Vinyl Factory on the 18 May featuring 13 tracks including an exclusive bonus cut not available on any of the initial releases.

FORMAT is the first album from Trevor Jackson since his acclaimed Playgroup album back in 2001. His Output Recordings label (1996-2006) introduced the world to the likes of Four Tet & LCD Soundsystem, His recent Metal Dance compilations reinvigorated interest in early industrial and experimental electronic dance music that's clearly had a powerful influence on much of today's leftfield club music.

FORMAT's initial limited edition release in February consisted of 12 separate physical releases each featuring a different track, available on 12', 10' & 7' vinyl cd, mini CD, cassette, USB, VHS, minidisc, DAT, 8 track + Reel to Reel this was no ordinary release - it charted the legacy of the physical music format, in a characteristically beautiful and uncompromising way. An accompanying installation at The Vinyl Factory space at Brewer Street Car Park in London offered people the opportunity to listen to the album as a unique audio-visual experience.

Curated from an archive of over 150 tracks Trevor had built up over the past 2 decades, the inspiration for Jackson's music, has come from 'the times and places where genres weren't quite formed.' While his synth and beatbox workouts might touch on proto-house, on new wave, on Italo and techno, on ambient and psychedelia, they are at the same time none of these things.

Washerman strikes back with 4 versatile tracks and is showing us another side of his brilliant work. After probably almost a hundred of releases and remixes under monikers like Sequel or Azuni, he gained himself a big reputation as Washerman. He founded his own label Deep Down Slam and released also for different labels such as Kerri Chandler's Madhouse to name only one.

We kick off the first in a irregular series of Rubadub twelves with a three track twelve from the New York dwelling Anthony Naples (Mr Saturday Night, Trilogy Tapes). Features three cracking House tracks that come stamped with the Chief's seal of approval.

With this release RotRaum brings two massive techno pieces on a yellow colored oneside 12".
"Rough Sine" by Eric Kanzler is a dark tech track with a groovy rollin´ bassline and an incisive snyth.
Thomas Wesers "90 Degress" is even more uncompromising: athmospheric and moody detroit techno.

James Kumo is back, this time on his own imprint KMusic. Kumo supplies us with two original mixes of his track, 'Yellow', inspired by the infamous & former Tokyo based nightclub. The original mix is tech house at its best, ladened with deep percussive drums, dub influenced chord stabs & warm pads throughout. The 'Dub' mix is exactly that, stripped down and pounding, designed for big room dance floors.
To really add some weight to this release Kumo has added two remixes.
First up is Berlin resident and Metamorphic recordings head honcho, Dan Curtin. Curtin provides us with his trademark Detroit tech-soul sound we all know and love, sure to attract the attention of house and techno fans alike. To finish off the EP, we've enlisted Liverpool based DJ/producer, Binny. He has previously released on the likes of Orbis and Scenery records and provides KMusic with a superb soulful tech groove, that compliments the original to a tee.

For the first in a series of reinterpretations of material from Linkwood's superb Expressions album, Firecracker Recordings has turned to Chicago deep house veterans Ghosts of the Sky (AKA Perpetual Rhythms' Chicagodeep and Taelue), and fast-rising machine abusers Nummer. The latter dive into an aquatic techno tip, turning the becalmed and melancholic "Love Lost" into a techno-tempo stroll through vintage Carl Craig chords, sweaty machine percussion, and yearning melodies. There's a warmer and heavier, if surprisingly stripped back, feel to Ghosts of the Sky's version of "Object", with spluttering electronics and sumptuous chords stretching out over a rich synth bassline and hissing, cymbal-heavy groove.

Since his frst appearance on JEUDI with True' our favourite Monte has developed his very own unique style. Coming from the nerdish synth world and being a big Carpenter fan his now darker approach to his sound was a consequent progression. We are great admirers of his art and proud to present his 3rd release , the Radical' EP on JEUDI records.

As remixers we have engaged Man Power who came to fame in 2013 and kept his real identity under wraps which has led him to be mistaken for John Talabot or some other major artist. His recent album on correspondant was incredibly well received. Washerman, Gianni Siravo has been around since many years under diferent names releasing since 1998 on drumpoet community amongst others. We have been following their works for a while now and are very happy they said promptly yes' when our request came.

Radical is a hymnic thick and deep monster with a master bass lead constantly evolving to the bursting point when every part of the body starts to shiver. Radical' was a permanent feature of our summer sets and always one of the highlights concerning crowd reaction.

Simpler is dark, trippy and cinematic. It's a technoish path Monte is following here.

Remixes

Man Power combines disco-heavy acoustic percussion & slighter rhythmic to create a more positive tension of the 'Radical' track, in which mallets take over the mainrole.

Washerman extracted the spheric side of 'Simpler' in his interpretation.

Atmosphere is defnitely the emphasis of this work of complexity.

Aus follow up releases from Bwana, Sei A and Fold with the welcome return of Shenoda with his Chromatic EP. Throughout a catalogue that's included 12s for Hypercolour and Manmakemusic as well as his exceptional debut 'Labour' EP on Aus last year he has consistently and capably melded House and Techno signified by his burly drum work and long, stirring breakdowns. His 'Chromatic' EP packs in three powerful cuts with Blame, a track that drives a dense, staggered kick under blood-curdling tension and dramatic synth builds. 'Musical Mob' then follows up with scuffling drums and a bold, peak-hour synth line before 'Shores' closes up with a shimmering sound-build giving way to a dense and full bodied bass pattern.

Working out of Haarlem, Netherlands, Aleks has returned with his second release for Los Angeles-based label, Hesperian Sound Division. Different Stories features a selection of works from the multifaceted Dutch producer, concentrated in the intersection between meditative landscapes, and delicately shuffling drum tracks. Offering simplicity in structure, each track exhibits a concise yet detail-oriented approach, translating into four highly organic pieces.

Described in typically self deprecating manner as a 'vanity imprint in the classically ornery tradition,' the Pear Growers Series is a new label from Chris Madak, best known for his mind bendingly good output as Bee Mask. The first release sees material from Madak's excellent Spectrum Spools long player When We Were Eating Unripe Pears get treated to remixes from celebrated techno artists Surgeon and Abdulla Rashim. Anyone who has heard Surgeon playing the remix on his Rinse FM show will agree that his unashamedly emotive breakbeat reworking of "The Story Of Keys & Locks" is arguably one of the simplest and most affecting remixes this year. Complementing this, Prologue and Semantica artist Abdulla Rashim delivers a take on "Unripe Pears" that will resonate with anyone that has indulged in the elusive producer's recent output on his own eponymous label.

The More Things Stay the Same is dego's sophomore solo LP - a collection of soulful, mid-tempo melodies laced with warm synths, impeccable beats and masterful musicianship rooted in Jazz Fusion, classic Funk and Electro.

In making the album, dego digs deep into his life experiences. From the first track to the last, his sonic signature inscribes his impressions on the duality of life. Dego says: "The More Things Stay the Same is about the state of play - truth can bring despair as well as hope. The two sit side by side. Like history often repeating mistakes, but also bringing learning and progress."

For the LP, dego leads a team of stellar musicians and trusted co-conspirators: multi-instrumentalists Kaidi Tatham, Mr Mensah and Matt Lord, as well as vocalist Sharlene Hector of Basement Jaxx fame. Hip-hop artist TY also makes an appearance on 'The Middle Ground'. With The More Things Stay the Same, dego carries out the vision of his influential 2000BLACK label and collective, formed in 1998 to continue the legacy of black music and to contribute to what makes soul, boogie and dance music great.

Undefined by any singular genre and a pioneering force in London club music culture in drum 'n' bass and London boogie, dego continues to forge dance music's intrepid yet soulful future in his constant search for the ultimate groove.

NOON
NOON means midday, the time when the sun is at its highest each day, even if we cannot see it.
It is the moment of greatest light, where one cycle ends and another begins. It is the end of the day and the beginning of the night. It is that brightest moment that always leads us to the darkest one, and vice versa.

THE EP
Our first EP is called LOVING ONCE AGAIN, which is the perfect name to describe our current circumstances, both personally and professionally.

THE ARTIST
The author of this fabulous track is ROMANO ALFIERI, an amazing person in whom we see ourselves reflected. He is the product of both talent and hard work. He is someone who loves music.


We are proud that he is representing us. He is also the newest member of our small family NOON artists, our management and bookings agency.

GUTI
We have asked GUTI (Desolat) to remix our first track because
HE's that organic part of the music that Reboot and I come from. GUTI is Rock 'n' Roll, he's the most organic, most acoustic part of our genre. We love and admire him.

REBOOT
Reboot had to remix Romano's track, the first one from our label, because in the end HE is the soul of all this. All of the rest of us at NOON are part of the mechanism needed to make this all happen. Reboot is the talent.

With his accomplished Barcelona EP having turned the heads of Seth Troxler, Maya Jane Coles, Ben Pearce and Maribou State among many others, Church head honcho Seb Wildblood returns with a hugely assured EP that matches his nascent label's promising recent output. Side A opener Hunney is a blissful summer evening affair, offering a shimmering, reflective twist on new sounds that's tailor-made for cruising down the strip with the top down. Edmondson, meanwhile, delicately flips the script towards the dancefloor with a vibrant and ethereal remix perfect for a season of rooftops, beaches and back gardens. The A Side also features the EP's eponymous track, a downbeat, atmospheric and subtle piece that's over all too quickly and demands another listen. The B Side to Wildblood's latest release seems to possess a more timeless quality. Warm brings together a wealth of rich samples - think dreamy echoes, lush chords and irresistible drum programming - to create possibly the strongest club cut of the bunch. Church partner in crime Apes is on hand to turn in a catchy, swinging and snare-driven remix, while Kommune1 brings the curtain down on the EP with a deft reinterpretation of Come Into My House that preserves the original's soul and warmth whilst skilfully upping the intensity.

Seth Troxler and The Martinez Brothers' Tuskegee Music continues to deliver the goods behind releases from Kool D, ex-Trouw resident William Kouam Djoko and Seth himself. Now on their 6th release, Tuskegee present a new collaborative effort between The Martinez Brothers, Jesse Calosso and Phil Moffa who - operating under their new production alias 'Soundview' - piece together a tribute to Rob Fernandez.

With this being their first contribution to the label since the first release - the Martinez Brothers team up with close label friend and erudite sound technician Phil Moffa who adds to a slew of successful collaborations that have recently seen releases on Hypercolour, Plan B and The Corner. Also in on the studio session, Jesse Calasso, long-term friend of The Martinez Brothers, delivers his latest contribution to the Tuskegee catalogue following his label debut on the "Come Up" EP.

Beginning his career as a doorman at Tracks, Rob Fernandez went on to become a true stalwart of New York's scene throughout and beyond the 90's who - throughout, played a primary role in keeping the spirit and love for dance music alive in the city. Now - in keeping with the 90's indebted ethos of Tuskegee Music - Soundview present their homage to a legend in the form of the 'The Method: a 2-track EP brimming with live analogue drum work and hustling acid lines.

'Nex Legends' kicks things off with a tight, bubbling groove that glides under wildly pitched percussion and mangled vocal signals. An olio of effects drive progress forwards alongside an urgent organ stab before 'Do You Miss Brooklyn' sets a sordid acid line under freely sequenced 909 drums. A minor-key melody gently pushes through alongside trippy spoken vocals that cap off another fine addition to the Tuskegee catalogue.

'The Meeting Legacy' umfasst 11 Stücke, inclusive Like You, welches bereits Anfang 2013 auf Compost Black Label als Maxi veröffentlicht wurde. Die Black Label # 61 wurde digital veröffentlicht und die Black Label # 95 gibt es auf Vinyl. 2013 war das eine von fünf EPs, die Emilie Nana bis dato herausgebracht hatte. I'm Childish, So What!, was erstmals im Sommer 2015 als Teil der COMPOST 500 - Compilation zu hören. Dieses Juwel ist von Emilie's Neffen inspiriert und basiert auf der Idee, dass wir, egal in welcher Lebensphase, stets zu uns selbst stehen sollen. Es ist der einzige Track auf dem Album mit französischen Vocals und vermittelt ein getragenes, leicht verrücktes, regelloses Gefühl, ein absolut fantasievolles Glanzstück. Drei Stücke des Albums: Tolstoy' Changes, Music und The Meeting Legacy, werden 2016 als Compost Black Label - Remix - Maxi erscheinen, mit Remixen von Manoo, Beanfield & Thomas Herb, Floyd Lavine.

The Meeting Legacy, der Titeltrack des Albums, ist purer Musik-Aktivismus. Der Text stammt von Elaine Brown, eine schwarze amerikanische Aktivistin und Künstlerin, Vorsitzende der Black Panther Partei. Der Bass dieses gemächlich stolzierenden Kampfsymbols ist Nana-esk und die Vocals heben sich mit Leichtigkeit ab und positionieren diesen Track auf ergreifende Weise.

Black Like Me erhebt einen fortwährenden Anspruch auf Fiktion und Non-Fiktion und verkörpert die gelebten und kenntnisreichen Erfahrungen Emilie Nanas. Eine warme, melodiöse Kreation, mit einfachsten Lyrics und im Hintergrund dümpelnden Marimbas. Es ist die musikalische Interpretation des Buches 'Black Like Me' von John Howard Griffin. Er erzählt hier die Geschichte des weissen Journalisten, der sich einer Hautverdunkelung unterzog, um sich im schwarzen Leben des separierten Südens der U.S.A. zu engagieren. Emilie's musikalische Interpretation erfasst die bunten kulturellen Äußerungen, welchen der weisse Journalist im gelebten schwarzen Alltag begegnet.

Track Fünf des Albums, dem inoffiziellen 'letzten Track von Teil 1' heist Confessions Of No Language. Während Emilie Nana hier ihre innersten Erfahrungen transponiert, oder transportiert, zielt sie auf eine 'gewisse' Körperzone. Welche Das muss man hören.

Das Album beginnt mit Off The Street, die wilden Begleiterscheinungen einer durchfeierten Nacht von Party-Girls, geht weiter mit dem, durch die frühen 90er Jahre von Janet Jackson und Prince beeinflussten Music, bei dem wir Emilie Nana sehr warm und cool erleben. Schliesslich entdecken wir sie in Inward Path, wenn sie resümiert, dass es mehr Glücklichkeit als Traurigkeit gibt, da immer Hoffnung in uns selbst existiert.
