As of late, France has been a hotbed for up-and-coming house and disco labels, releasing some of the grooviest tunes pumped out on dance floors across the globe. Newly minted Groovence is no exception to this, bringing forth their their first label release with a various artists compilation that will leave your head buzzing, heart melting and feet stomping. VA releases can be hit or miss but « The Cosmic Groove EP' lives up to its name with funky, spaced out cuts that will have you calling Houston and assuring them that there is no problem.

Based out of Paris, the vinyl-only label has been releasing an 'invite' series of hour long sets to showcase their tastes, with guests as Luvless ( Rose Records, Sleazy Beats recordings), Ethyène ( Moonrise Hill Material, Kolour LTD), Tour Maubourg (Pont-Neuf Records) and Twice Movement (Groovence) ; each sporting their own quality tracks on the label premiere.

Rolling minimalistic groovers from Birdsmakingmachine for the ninth instalment of the series. A versatile EP that keeps in line with the BMM trademark sound, while offering a track for each mood, from more dancefoor-oriented club music to stripped down afterparty vibes passing through broken beat influences and eclectic atmospheric soundscapes.

Picnic Record's founder Captn K is back and while he was gone he got a 909, "What are you gonna do with your 909 Captn K?" – "Try doing a bit of house I guess." So with this release the West Australian producer lends his unique style to a bit of 90s inspired house.

Sometimes you just gotta get it off your chest, and with the world the way it is there's a fair bit to get angry about. On R U COOL? Captn K shakes his fist at the sky and gets old school with his 909 and trusty bass synth to let it all out. A rant filled bad-ass-belter that cranks you up and kicks out the bad vibes. It's funny but relatable. It's simple but it's big! Included is a dub version for the club when you want the wriggle without the rant.

On the flip we got Tonite We Flying, a sexy piano driven builder that launches into a vocal filled disco/house track. Amazing husky vocals from Captn k's mate, Britt Bro tell the story of a night out and the desire to be free. Chugging piano n bass, juicy synth swells n sweeps and funky percussion get jiggy with their long time pals, 909 kicks n claps! Together it creates an uplifting energy filled anthem that makes you want to soar into the night!

Ramona is happy to present "The Video Dead", Chinaski's debut-EP for Live At Robert Johnson.

Originally hailing from the high north of Germany - Rostock - near the rough and stormy sea, the young man with interests in 80s video-aesthetics and vintage synthesizers is now calling Offenbach his home-turf. Chinaski's EP starts out with "Time To Kill" - a straight forward hypnotizing jacker directly heading to the synthesized happiness. "Midnight Workout" features a different side to the young talent - sensitive placed synth harmonies packed in a vintage-pop interlude. After a journey through more harmonious domains, "Night School" turns the page again and picks up on those synth-waves and put Ramona away from her calm drive through the midnight heat, right on the dance-floor - mesmerizing analogue deep-house-vibes all over the place. "Hide Society" steps out of context and mixes Chinaski's affection for the warmth of these marvelous synth-sounds with trippy post-breaking - or even proto-hip-hop - sounds topped off with a weird vocal sample. The title-track "The Video Dead" summons all emotional power Ramona could implant into a synthesizer - the heartbeat-like reduced kick-drum and hi-hats floating around the track are mostly incidental or not even there for the ears. Purely visual.

Instantly tom rolling into a neo-electro commodity, 'Voice Inside' undulates with lustrous vocals that stand as the tracks core. Pads cling to bleeps and guitar chunks that evaporate with alternating delays. 'Voice Inside (French)' adds a sensual linguistic twist, although the elements remain the same, they feel so different. 'Voice Inside (Dub)' completes the A, stripping tones back and chopping the duration to find yet another gorgeous avenue.

On the flip, Backwoods Remix adds to the original atmosphere with a face scrunching bass-line and pulsating 4/4 kicks that embraces the not so distant future. Last but by no means least, the mighty Craig Richards' signature 808s pound on the remix to close the B. Pulling darker tones to pitch shifted vocals, this minimalist beat composition is perfectly suited for vigorous floors.

Ground is an Osaka native, but his soul is truly that of a nomad, traversing the planet, befriending kindred spirits found in humans, animals and plants. He is exceptionally receptive to the beauty in everything that surrounds him—the incidental music of a city street, the orchestral chaos of a scrambling radio, the syncopated grace of migrating birds, the simplicity of an isolated hand clap—and as his roadmap continuously unfolds, he accumulates a vast catalogue of visceral tools to musically recount his experiences. 'Sunizm' is a cross section of the artist’s process—an array of complex microcosms overlapping to comprise a thematic whole—gathering field recordings, found instruments, jagged electronics, synthesized chanting, and weaving all into a dense narrative that appears obsessively constructed yet divinely improvised. 'Follow Me', the second of two singles surrounding the album, is complimented with a pseudo drum’n’bass treatment by enigmatic Greek artist Jay Glass Dubs, as well as a massively triumphant b-side entitled 'Ozone House', which is exclusive to this single release. When Smallpeople went touring Australia for the third time in 2016, we played a gig in Brisbane and had an amazing time hanging with James Hilan, a young gun from the local scene-
a heavy vinyl collector and bad-ass DJ. He took us to the Wheel of Brisbane for our first Vape experience ever and after some good laughs we became friends. When James sent over
some of his deep yet pumping tracks a few years later we were blown away and when we played them out at our monthly residency at Golden Pudel in Hamburg we decided to gave

Mickey Oliver, radio and club DJ star with the Hot Mix 5 and owner of the (now legendary) Hot Mix 5 Records decides to drop a compilation on M Records, a division of Hot Mix 5 Records he created in 1988.

“Sweet House Chicago” is the result - a perfect snapshot of Chicago in the late Eighties (all the way down to the front cover picture taken at one of Mickey’s gig).
It features 8 incredible tracks produced by the who’s who of Chicago House at the time: Dj Pierre, Mickey Oliver, Phortune, Ralphi Rosario and more…
The track “I Need A Beat” being an actual Larry Heard production that was made for Mickey Oliver.

So here it is, reissued for the first time by Still Music, on a yellow colored vinyl DLP while the CD includes two bonus tracks including the magnificent “Anticipate 12” Remix” by Mickey Oliver.

After Two New Eps Released Last Year On Pont Neuf Records And The Jimpster's Label Delusions Of Grandeur, Cosmonection Is Back On The Parisian Label With A New Ep odyssey'. This New Maxi From The Parisian Producer Presents An Ever More Mature Sound Universe By Confirming Its Attachment To A Deep House Sound With Many Balearic Euphoria Influences And A More Retro-futuristic Approach, Synthesized With Hushed Melodies And Warm Afro Rhythms.

Dusky are back with a new EP as we move towards the back end of summer. Following up on the massive release that was Life Signs Vol. 1 on Gerd Janson's Running Back Records, the duo now return to their own imprint, 17 Steps. The 'Imagine What' EP is their first 17 Steps release since the Aset Forever EP at the end of 2018 and marks the 25th release on the label. In their own words - "Imagine What is a personal journey through shimmering melodies, proto-rave vocals and shuffling drums, arriving at a deep, eyes-closed peak. L.I. takes classic electronica as it’s main inspiration, along with the deeper side of D&B. A chance experiment with an arpeggiator led to the main melody, while a solid wall of low frequencies and electro leaning beats propel the rest of the track. And Cedar uses sampled breakbeats combined with ambient soundscapes that touch on early Speedy J and Warp vibes.”

It's not very widely known but, when he's not digging for other people's music to play out at the party, Mister Harkin spends a good deal of his time in the studio making some of his own. Up to now, those efforts have made their way onto records for the always on point Argot imprint in Chicago and NYC's own Throne of Blood. And although he's DJed at almost 250 Mister Saturday Night & Sunday parties since we got going in 2009, this is his debut release on the label. It's made up of three spaciously sculpted club scorchers, ripe and ready for the power hour, and we're super stoked to finally be able to share them with you.

NYC collective Sheik 'N' Beik continue to bolster their catalogue and add to a slew of cosmic cuts from Xamiga, Derek Marin, Voiski and Peter Corvaia with the next installment coming courtesy of NYC newcomer Jeffrey Scott.

Having been a mainstay at the Sheik 'N' Beik parties across NYC and Ibiza, Jeffrey Scott is a long term friend of the team. He is an artist who has patiently cultivated a methodical yet free-flowing form of production that melds live instrumentation, warped and celestial synthesis with a healthy sprinkling of oddity that lends him perfectly to a release with Sheik 'N' Beik.

This - his debut 12' - is built predominantly with Hardware, Software and modular gear and kicks off with 'Under Aqua' that drives flat, whetted kicks through flexing metallic tones and pellucid clicks and snaps. Distant, reverberated signals are gently pushed in and out of the mix as additive percussion pushes momentum forwards. Panned and mangled spoken word hops between languages which, alongside a soft and rueful chord change builds a striking soft / hard contrast.

Allegorical in its progression, 'Down To Art' then opens up with layered Boards Of Canada-esque synth tones sat atop a buoyant pulse. Passages of twisted spoken word and clever sound design builds disquieting tension that never quite boils over whilst keeping the listener pinned throughout.

'Drum Morphing' then sets sheets of glacial synth tones atop clipped analogue drums. Patient and natural in it's progression, it slowly renders the moon's landscape and closes with playful use of delay, pitch bending and panning that caps off an impressive and daring debut from Scott and another fine addition to the Sheik 'N' Beik series.

The Lake lays itself gently rolling along building tension. Hypnotizing drum programming with dreamy synth cords that leaves dancers in a trance.

Twilight is a deep journey built for the late late nights drifting in-between what the night once held & for what a new day will bring.

Mikio Kenzo EP marks the second release from Lee Clarke's Tahanan imprint and the first vinyl release. Following on from
Sek's Drunk Yoga EP, the second instalment delivers two original tracks Mikio Kenzo and Mind Control as well as two remixes from rising deep house producer James Benedict and Forward Education's tech house master The Wheel Man.

Mikio Kenzo, a dance floor roller with a deep yet funky sound, coupled with nice looping pads full of energy. James Benedict's remix continues that trend with a similar sound you'd expect from Lost My Dog or Large Music. The Wheel Man offers a deeper sound, fit for bigger sound systems.

For its fifth release, Third Try introduces MAUDE SPHINX, a mysterious new project from a producer who will remain nameless. Screen printed by hand / 500 ex only !

We're back with our fourth offering, welcoming British up-and-comers Swales and Tom Jarmey for a V/A packed with deep house music of the highest order. Swales opens up the EP with Desire, a true as toast piano house banger that is as much 1989 as it is 2019. And the A2 likewise pays homage to the genesis of the genre, with Swales flipping Chuck Roberts' legendary 'My House' vocal into Roots, a late-night burner of a tune. On the B-side Tom Jarmey comes in strong on his first physical release, Voices In My Head mixing irresistibly luscious pads with floor-pumping hats and a vocal sample for the ages. And Tom finishes out the EP with the mellifluous, delicate and (in one word) beautiful track At Night. This is, on all counts, an EP to be savored.

Aaaron continues his journey through mystic synthesis with his 5th ep for connected , “Cosmic Soul”. It seems with each release he gathers more depth to his music and minimises his style and production to naked artwork in sound where each instrument has its space for the the listeners imagination. Abstract yet magnetic , tribal and futuristic. Sink in the shadows and rise on the waves.

1.COSMIC SOUL A rhythm section playing robotic funk against an esoteric drone meets a melancholic piano refrain and pleading vocal monotones that go dubwise. The landscape of the track rises and falls to a vocal and piano breakdown with electronic flutes piping in the distance , peppered with percussive stabs throughout as the emotive waves surge to find earth. Quite beautiful. 2.MERCY Synthetic textures reminiscent of Blade Runner 2049 form a backdrop for a skeletal drum figure, as soft Kraftwerk like notes filter in and out and a skinny sequencer drifts across the track like crosstown traffic. A vocoder pulse and dreamy synth horns hold the scene in the shade of a hot sunny day as the city flies by in stop motion. 3.ITS NOT OVER Imagine a classical symphony based on 2 or 3 chords , revolving and hypnotising by its simplicity and gradually rising in sonic temperature. Set against a drumscape of toms and unnaturally pitched and distorted snares and phasing plastic synth percussion like a drifting cloud of locusts. The vocal “Its not over between you and me” is haunting and irresistible and the song draws you in, mystified by its simplicity . Devoid of frills , cold and heartbroken yet the embers of passion still glow. Innocently executed , Aaaron at his futuristic high.

It’s no secret that the Irish know how to party. That energy is epitomised in the bubbling scene of homegrown talent rising through the ranks all over the island. House of Disco, having recently moved back to the Irish shores, let loose their first 4 track sampler EP in 7 years, ‘Home Turf’, showcasing the best in under-represented young Irish producers.

Taking the first slot, Dublin’s LPM hones in on that signature HoD sound with some expertly interlaced late ‘70s samples, reworked and repackaged into a bomb of a filtered, disco house, hand-raiser that’s got sunshine stamped into it’s very core. Newbridge locals, Mix & Fairbanks then offer up a deep, synth-laden gem, drenched in weighty stabs, analogue melodies and squiggling top lines.

On the flipside, the young gun from Killarney, Shee gets soulful for ‘Me You Us’ with low-slung vocal samples and hazy pads layered over the top of swirling disco loops. Lastly, Wicklow native Purple Ice signs off this killer Irish EP with a blissful, piano infused groover that’s eyes closed ecstasy from start to finish.

For the 15th release on Ondulé recordings, Around7 offers us a treasure hunt through his influences and his love for sampling.
The « C KIKIMIX » EP is starting with King Britt version of « Last night a DJ saved my life » turned into a hypnotic House piece.
Then passing by « C D'LA DYNAMITE », a Madlib sample totally dynamited by the MPC's filter.

And finaly ending with « DECONNE PAS MORRICONE », a classic cut by Enio Morricone flavoured with acid bass. Well, a « must-have » for sample lovers and adventurous DJ's...

The always on-point and culturally significant Tuskegee Music is back with more essential music, this time from venerated American producer D’Marc Cantu. Over the course of a distinguished career, Cantu has contributed to everything from jackbeat to acid, house to techno on labels like Creme Organisation and Les Disques De La Mort. Always serving up raw-edged, uncompromising sounds, he does so again here on another standout EP. Opener ‘Beat The Move’ is an urgent, high tech piece of slick and supple acid house with 303 undulations, dark vocal loops and the sort of hammering drums that get the club locked right in.
The sublime ‘In The Forest’ is a tripped out bit of restless electro with skittish hits and rueful pads that gets right to your heart. Last of all is the militant, marching ‘A Narrow Connection’ which closes things out with crisp kicks and scintillating sheet metal drums that straighten your back and get you stomping.
These are utilitarian yet wonderfully unique club tracks from a real master of the form.

Opener 'Something' it's a true house weapon where funky swinging snare drums carry the track from start to finish. Melodic pads go on and off, while catchy female vocal shots create an amazing atmosphere upon a serious shaking-groovy beat which is impossible to not move with.

A2 'Ballad Of The Bubblegum Kid' is a solid tech house tune with some splashes of UK raw and garage moods. The powerful and boosted bassline takes control of the track and perfectly fits with sharp hi-hats, delayed chant, and housy chords.
