House Vinyl New Releases - News

'Fallen Down' is the second EP from Tee Mango and Will Saul's Primitive Trust project, featuring a remix by Shanti Celeste. The title track weaves percussive shuffles and vocal refrains with glowing synths, whilst colourful melodic layers and resonating vocal stabs armour the choppy live drums of 'Day One'. Dekmantel regular Shanti Celeste does what she does best with her remix of Fallen Down in building a rich, hypnotic groove that steadily develops with intricacy and depth, whilst 'Big Tracky Disco Tool' is exactly that.

Trained multi-genre dancer, DJ, producer, MC and pure force of energy: meet William Djoko, the latest talent from one of house music's foremost cities, Amsterdam.

Djoko's effervescent performances and eclectic musical melange of disco, tech, afro, leftfield and straight up house first earned him a name in his native stomping grounds at places like Trouw and are now propelling him onto the international DJ circuit with slots at London's Printworks and Elrow Town, Circoloco in Ibiza and Concrete in Paris among others.

Cutting his production teeth in the late zeros on Amsterdam imprint Thirtyonetwenty, William has gone on to release tracks on Rush Hour, Mobilee, Tuskegee and, most notably, Tom Trago's Voyage Direct label, as well as delivering remixes for the likes of Darius Syrossian and Anja Schneider.

OMG, William's quirky, colourful debut for Strictly features vocals from jazz man Camilo and remixes from the original king of New York house, Todd Terry. The Todd Terry in House mix is exclusive to the vinyl release.

Melbourne synthesist Harvey Sutherland brings four stripped-back rhythm tracks to Echovolt Records for his debut 12'. Features a long edit of 'Q3' from last year's limited cassette release, plus three new original cuts.
Developed and refined from Sutherland's improvised live show, the 'Edges E.P.' glides between the sparse melodic funk on 'Sunday Flower' to the tightly-wound house shuffle of 'Speaking Your Language'. The title track rounds out the B-side - a long rollicking hardware jam, all Juno brass and marching band snares.

MINIM Records gathers a quartet of bumpin' sleek sounds from around the globe for the anticipated 002 VA. 'Stardub' finds Romanian producer Mano Andrei layering ethereal, muted pads over some raw percussives, tight driving kick and body moving bassline, while Montreal gearhead Pheek's 'Glad I Say' mates tech house bounce and sine-wave wubs to a creaky, industrial sonic palette. UK trackslinger TIJN pictures the 'Cosmos' bursting with angular breakbeats and 4/4 subs, as the talented Ukranian producer/dj and Tvir label boss Komponente tweaks percussive tones, punches the kick, and adds a coating of sonic grit on the brain-bending 'Amigdala.'

As Earth dips below sea level, E Davd steps up with a capsule of botanical and foreign matter reminding us what lies beneath the oil spills, crust and hum of wireless routers. Cast deep into the nebula, It's the forgotten love songs from the glacial plains, expired vitamin compounds retrieved from petri dishes and the howls of extinct animal life condensed into 25 minutes.

Electronic protocol modules formerly known as "humid funk"," new age" "astral ambient" and "horoscope house" drifting through foreign star systems, gradually lost to the eternal vacuum of deep space.

What happens when a house-music icon takes a small, talented bunch of musicians and mixes it with a savory blend of jazz, funk, dance, and soul music You get a hearty serving of E.O.L. Soulfrito, who make their single debut with 'Upright Love' on Vega Records.
E.O.L. Soulfrito, led by musical director and conductor Louie Vega, is the condensed version of Vega's Elements Of Life live-band project, which over its tenure has released three albums, won a Grammy award in 2006 for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical (Curtis Mayfield, 'Superfly (Louie Vega EOL Mix'), and performed for a globally-televised audience during the 2007 Superbowl pre-game show. E.O.L. Soulfrito's name is a play on the popular Latin-Caribbean seasoning sofrito, which serves as a nod to Vega's own Puerto Rican heritage. Earlier this year, the band played their first show at Gramps in Wynwood, Miami during Miami Music Week.
'Upright Love' embodies the organic energy of E.O.L. Soulfrito's live performances. With a runtime of more than ten and a half minutes, it's a steady groover that slowly blossoms into a blissful symphony of sprightly chords, jazzy bass, crisp percussion, pattering tambourine courtesy of Kat Ayala, and Cindy Mizelle's vocal ad-lib serenades. Easygoing yet refined, the single plays out like a summer afternoon jam session between Vega and his friends: Axel Tosca on fender rhodes & synth upright bass; Josh Milan on synth jazz guitar & synth Percussion. Start swaying those hips and let the rhythm carry you into the sunset.
"I wanted to create a more condensed band, since the Elements Of Life band has ten members; it's always been a little difficult to do smaller venues. I also wanted to create music inspired by groups and artists like War, Cymande, Johnny Hammond, and Herbie Hancock's Headhunters, but with the Vega E.O.L. twist and style. I then created E.O.L. Soulfrito with my studio musicians and rhythm section of Elements Of Life and Nuyorican Soul. I want to take this band and perform in festivals and venues like The Blue Note, Jazz Café, Ronnie Scots, and BB Kings. E.O.L. Soulfrito will bring you future grooves with a tinge of the musical landscape from our rich past, and yes, there will be experimentation—get ready for it.'

Following a big EP from Richy Ahmed, Play It Say It returns with a talented collaboration in the form of Mark Fanciulli and Rob Cockerton, with Honey Dijon on the remix.
Mark Fanciulli has carved out his own sound that takes the best of House and Techno, turning in his own infectious releases on the likes of Joris Voorn's Rejected, as well as the legendary Planet E and Intec. Long time friend and collaborator Rob Cockerton joins Fanciulli, who's own credits lead to labels including Suara and Snatch!, and together the duo cook up a storm here.
'Slave To The Rave' is the fantastic opening cut and is a real party starter with an old school feel. Acid stabs bring raw energy alongside chattery claps straight from Chicago in the 80's, whilst the whole production is bolstered by slick drum programming that won't fail to work crowds into a frenzy.
The excellent '10 Channels of Bliss' is equally massive, with robust kick drums down low and huge incendiary hi-hats up top. Swaying claps and rolling bass all help lure you in and shape shifting synths bring all that important looseness and colour.
Next up, Classic Music Company artist and New York tastemaker Honey Dijon steps up to remix 'Slave To The Rave'. Her version is dark and intense, with an unbridled sense of frantic raves bottled up in the train-track grooves and the cleverly filtered vocals,This is a powerful EP of high class, high impact dance music.

We welcome DMX Krew back to Super Rhythm Trax with another EP crammed with highlights. The EP opens with the stunning 'Grand Tour' sounding frighteningly like a never heard classic from 1989 before the rug is pulled from under your feet and you fall into the menacing stomp of 'Death Blip' which pretty much does what you'd hope. Flip the record for the crafty jack of 'The Wiggly Worm' before the EP concludes with the wistful simplicity of 'Old Groove'. DMX does it again!

After his banging EP#1 on AUS, Tee Mango's back for the 5th installment in his Tribute project, inspired by the much referenced Theo Parrish quote: Love of the music should be the driving force of any producer, performer or DJ.Everything else stems from that core, that love. With that love, sampling can become a tribute; An expansion on ideas long forgotten, reconstruction, collage.
TIME IS NOW Time is Now comes off like Adamski era Seal rerub for the small hours. Replete with hypnotic looped piano and drums sounding like they were lifted
from Vaughan Mason's Raze house archive. Simply sweet sweet electronic music. MAKE IT LAST FOREVER
The B side is Tee Mango on home turf, with a selection of choice samples under his cap (from a record you might recognise), some simple loose sampled drums and a smattering of dub delay.
Love for this series coming from: Axel Boman, Benji B, Artwork, Fred P, and a heap of others. These #Tribute releases sell out pretty quick, my hunch is that these will not hang about.

REPRESSED !
Bristol based producers Behling & Simpson take on remixing some Kerri Chandler classics this August with the 'Heaven' EP, set to drop via Kerri's very own Madhouse Records
imprint.

Madhouse Records boss Kerri Chandler needs no introduction having been one of the most prominent names in underground house music for over two decades now. While rising talents Behling & Simpson's collective output has been championed by the likes of Claude von Stroke, Derrick Carter, Ralph Lawson, Modeselektor and many more over the pairs 100+ previous releases between them (under various guises), this stands as testament to their undeniable ability to craft forward-thinking electronic music.

First up on the release we have 'Heaven' featuring Christopher McCray on vocal duties, Behling & Simpson's prevalent low-slung, dropped tempo rhythms take the lead, alongside hypnotic lowend tones, while the duo capture Chandler's warm musicality with style utilizing the original's bright chord progressions and smooth vocal licks, creating an intricate, intelligent slice of house. 'Peace Of My Mind' follows on the flip side, a track originally released on Madhouse in 2011, though returning to the label in 2014 with an intriguing reshape courtesy of the Behling & Simpson, again taking on the pair's niche slo-mo feel, setting the tone and radiantly showcasing why their sound stands tall above many of their
contemporaries in such an effortlessly cool way.

Absolutely seminal house music from NYC's Logic crew which counts Wayne Gardiner and Roger Sanchez amongst it's ranks. That's right, this isn't some hyped, 2017 fad stuff, this is the real deal 1990 deepness! Amazing that this record still stand's up some 26+ years later, it's still regarded as classic today. The production is utterly flawless and the overall vibe of the whole record is hard to put your finger on, it's the perfect balance of tough drums and melodic orchestration matched with some of the deepest pads and synths out there. Even a nod to the legendary Mr.Fingers on 'The final frontier' comes off oozing with class, many have tried, few have accomplished! Overall 'The warning' is a benchmark record, released early on in Strictly Rhythm's existence helping shape the sound of the label as a whole. The fact that it's still a record that gets regular spin and continues to influence today in 2017 speaks volumes about the music and label's legacy.

'The Warning / The Final Frontier' has been skilfully remastered from all original master sources and fully licensed and reissued officially for 2017.
